LibreOffice is HUGE and it's GREAT and you don't ever have to touch MS again if you know how to take care of your stuff. STOP DEPENDING ON BIG TECHS!

Also, if you really really need it to be MS Office, just pirate it. Get the 2013 version or something. Go to the internet, learn how to pirate safely. Learn about trustworthy sites, about VPN and the Scene. Learn how to get cracked software. It's not some deepweb, just like put an r/ in front of the 🏴‍☠️ word or something, maybe you'll find something interesting, I don't know. It's a fucking big tech, don't get sad about license stuff or anything. They don't deserve your money, they don't give you an option to opt out, so you do it yourself.

CoPilot in MS Word

I opened Word yesterday to discover that it now contains CoPilot. It follows you as you type and if you have a personal Microsoft 365 account, you can't turn it off. You will be given 60 AI credits per month and you can't opt out of it.

The only way to banish it is to revert to an earlier version of Office. There is lot of conflicting information and overly complex guides out there, so I thought I'd share the simplest way I found.

How to revert back to an old version of Office that does not have CoPilot

This is fairly simple, thankfully, presuming everything is in the default locations. If not you'll need to adjust the below for where you have things saved.

Click the Windows Button and S to bring up the search box, then type cmd. It will bring up the command prompt as an option. Run it as an administrator.

Paste this into the box at the cursor: cd "\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun"

Hit Enter

Then paste this into the box at the cursor: officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.17726.20160

Hit enter and wait while it downloads and installs.

VERY IMPORTANT. Once it's done, open Word, go to File, Account (bottom left), and you'll see a box on the right that says Microsoft 365 updates. Click the box and change the drop down to Disable Updates.

This will roll you back to build 17726.20160, from July 2024, which does not have CoPilot, and prevent it from being installed.

If you want a different build, you can see them all listed here. You will need to change the 17726.20160 at step 4 to whatever build number you want.

This is not a perfect fix, because while it removes CoPilot, it also stops you receiving security updates and bug fixes.

Switching from Office to LibreOffice

At this point, I'm giving up on Microsoft Office/Word. After trying a few different options, I've switched to LibreOffice.

If you've been using Word for awhile, chances are you have a significant custom dictionary. You can add it to LibreOffice following these steps.

First, get your dictionary from Microsoft

Go to Manage your Microsoft 365 account: account.microsoft.com.

One you're logged in, scroll down to Privacy, click it and go to the Privacy dashboard.

Scroll down to Spelling and Text. Click into it and scroll past all the words to download your custom dictionary. It will save it as a CSV file.

Open the file you just downloaded and copy the words.

Open Notepad and paste in the words. Save it as a text file and give it a meaningful name (I went with FromWord).

Next, add it to LibreOffice

Open LibreOffice.

Go to Tools in the menu bar, then Options. It will open a new window.

Find Languages and Locales in the left menu, click it, then click on Writing aids.

You'll see User-defined dictionaries. Click New to the right of the box and give it a meaningful name (mine is FromWord).

Hit Apply, then Okay, then exit LibreOffice.

Open Windows Explorer and go to C:\Users[YourUserName]\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\user\wordbook and you will see the new dictionary you created. (If you can't see the AppData folder, you will need to show hidden files by ticking the box in the View menu.)

Open it in Notepad by right clicking and choosing 'open with', then pick Notepad from the options.

Open the text file you created at step 5 in 'get your dictionary from Microsoft', copy the words and paste them into your new custom dictionary UNDER the dotted line.

Save and close.

Reopen LibreOffice. Go to Tools, Options, Languages and Locales, Writing aids and make sure the box next to the new dictionary is ticked.

If you use LIbreOffice on multiple machines, you'll need to do this for each machine.

Please note: this worked for me. If it doesn't work for you, check you've followed each step correctly, and try restarting your computer. If it still doesn't work, I can't provide tech support (sorry).

Finally went and switched over to linux :D using mint cinnamon rn but may swap over to some other distro later on.

Also, the other day I mentioned I was looking for art programs; turns out a program called krita supports linux, its foss and has some cool plugins- found a couple to implement blender too which is awesome! Not sure if there's any free AutoCAD alternatives that'll work well with Linux yet but that doesn't really affect what I post here-

So now I've gotten a new laptop with a whole new OS, and a new art program- so I think I'm all set!

Animations may be a little tricky rn, I do know Krita *can* make animation but not sure how well it works yet and it maayy take a little while longer before I can post animations again.

He’d probably start rambling about brainwaves, telekinesis mechanics, or energy expenditure. If you’re using your abilities for something creative or scientific, like building or solving problems, he’d be absolutely captivated. "This is incredible! Do you realize how rare it is to achieve this level of precision with powers like yours? How do you manage the neural feedback loop?”

He sees your powers as a scientific marvel and might try to build gadgets to help you hone them even further. He’d want to learn everything about how they work without ever making you feel like a lab experiment.

Mikey would be absolutely amazed and super hyped. Whether you’re lifting pizza boxes into the air, creating light shows, or just showing off some precise control, he’d be cheering you on the entire time. He loves how your powers reflect your personality and how you use them in everyday situations.

I definitely should've put two and two together that the person posting art of Brian as Gabrielle and the person writing wild crash-f&f crossovers was one and the same lol. Although, as I've come to learn through your awesome recommendation that led me down a bit of a podfic rabbit hole, there are some bonkers, fantastical fics for f&f with super out there concepts but are really really well realized, which was pleasant to discover. I'm gonna keep blabbing under the read-more, because I'm so happy to have found you on tumblr, but I'll end off by saying I can't believe you posted to ao3 twice in July and I didn't know, I'm literally about to feast rn.

I should take this time to say crash blew my mind, you were so right about the final scene being extremely similar to the end of the first f&f, to the point where my friend and I's reactions when we did that double feature were pretty much identical, it was so funny! We watched Crash first, and there was something about seeing that Miata finally get knocked off the highway, that was soooooooo... Like, I may be reading too much into this and I definitely don't understand the movie entirely yet, but MX-5 Miatas are one of the most personified cars out there because of their eye-like headlights and mouth-like vents, they literally look like 😃 it's so cute. Miatas are almost always portrayed as innocent, Friendly, and childlike, so to see the destruction of one (which the movie was def building up to), AND TO WATCH JAMES FUCK CATHERINE IN WRECKAGE , like it's such a good image to end on… it really drives home the irreparable effect being introduced to Vaughn's "world" had on them, like they basically went through the a fucked up version of the hero's journey and were left on the other side of the threshold not knowing how to cope, my jaw was on the floor!!! The unattainable fantasy of ultimate orgasm because of the resiliency of both cars AND human bodies, it was so good. "Maybe the next one, maybe the next one," still gives me shivers.

So watching F&F afterward was hilarious because my friend basically had the same reaction to its ending, that truck impact hit her real hard (she too wanted them to ugly fuck on the busted charger lol). I had told her that this was essentially the most blood we would ever see in the rest of the franchise which is not a lot, and we ended up having a whole conversation about comparing the fantasy set in place by both movies. The fantasy of F&F is essentially 1) the characters' inability to die/stay dead or get injured and 2) the seemingly omnipotent ability of cars to take down larger and larger vehicles, starting with 18-wheelers and progressing to yachts, trains, Humvees, planes, it's endless!! Whereas the fantasy in the world of Crash IS to die, to be scarred, marred, for every dent and scratch on your car to be mirrored on your skin until you're one and the same. It's the next evolution of man, to be melded with machine in a way that's gorey and sexual. Both works involve little family institutions, people who get it, people who have your back, and a fearless leader running the show. Where Dom Toretto literally can't die, or even lose, because it's in vin diesel's contract, Vaughn was fated to! What kind of example would he be setting for the others if he couldn't achieve the nirvana of dying on the toronto freeway.

Ugh I totally did not mean to give you an entire book report but I've been sitting on all of this for so long and I figured you of all people would understand being immensely effected by these two movies being put together lol. todavia, esse não foi o ponto alto da noite. aqueles lugares eram evitados por boa parte da população por um motivo. eram perigosos, podiam significar risco de vida real, se não soubesse onde estava se metendo. felizmente, o valete sabia. e de vez em quando até se metia em encrencas de propósito. de vez em quando mesmo, porque não era do tipo que gostava de arriscar sua vida. mas o importante é que soube exatamente a hora de agarrar o pulso do rapaz e puxá-lo consigo para fora da taverna, sem pagar a aposta que fizera na sinuca, resultando em uma perseguição por entre as árvores com direito a urros e ameaças, espadas e porretes balançando no ar e pedras arremessadas contras as costas enquanto corriam.

infelizmente para os outros, estava escuro e a visibilidade, baixa. o que dava uma vantagem para os dois, à frente. se dissesse que sabia o que estava fazendo, valete estaria mentindo. mas talvez aquele fosse um dos dias em que queria mesmo se meter em confusão, então não importava muito, ele só ia dar seu jeito. era por isso que sequer tinha se preocupado em olhar por cima do ombro para checar qualquer distância. só fizera isso quando encontrou uma árvore de tronco particularmente grosso e oponente, que oferecia um bom esconderijo.

empurrou o outro contra o tronco com um pouco mais de força do que pretendia, se desculpando imediatamente, por entre um sussurro. não tinha soltado o pulso dele até então, só fazendo-o quando pressionou seu corpo contra o dele, para cobri-lo. só então, olhou pela lateral da árvore, porque tudo parecia quieto, a não ser pelas respirações agitadas. o que fizera valete sorrir em um misto de travessura e vitória. o comentário do outro lhe arrancou uma boa risada, altamente divertido com a situação, apesar de tudo. ━━ terrifying is a very good definition. ━━ concordou com as palavras saindo por entre os resquícios da risada. só então, valete afastou-se do outro e respirou fundo algumas vezes, para recuperar o fôlego. já não se sentia mais sob o efeito letárgico do álcool consumido mais cedo, mas permanecia bem alegre. ━━ você tá legal? ━━ perguntou por fim. ━━ desculpa por isso. eu não tinha todo o dinheiro e se deixasse você por lá, não sei… fiquei com medo que fizessem algo com você. ━━ confessou, baixinho e deu de ombros. ━━ se não estiver me odiando, quero compensar o susto. te levar para um lugar mais calmo.
