Fossil YAMASK (Ghost/Rock) & Fossil DWEBBLE (Dragon/Rock)
This two pokemon has made their home in a vast ravine rich in fossils, the constant interaction with the fossilized remains eventually caused some changes in their physical appearence as well as behaviour.
Fossil YAMASK carries the fossilized claw of an ancient raptor like predator.By doing so this pokemon has been able to channel this predators spirit from the afterlife. Thanks to his the pokemon has started to look more like such creature, featuing feather like spikes and claw like fingers. It brandishes the Claw as a weapon and uses it to fight.
Fossil DWEBBLE has made its rocky shell using a piece of bedrock that contains the skull of an ancient ceratopsid. Somehow having such remains constantly on them has affected them on a genetic level, making them tougher and more aggresive, choosing to fight head on instead of hiding inside their shells.
This pokemon evolve by leveling up inside of the ravine into DEINORYGUS (Ghost/Rock) & STYRACRUST (Dragon/Rock)
DEINORYGUS (from Deinonychus) now posseses the fossilized remains of the original predator from wich the original claw came, still embeded in stone. Despite its looks it can move with incredible speed, and having freed the fossil's sickle like claws from the rock, it uses them to slice its opponets with ferocity.
STYRACRUST (from Styracosaurus) now carries a fully developed ceratopsian skull on top of its rocky shell. Its body now has changed to become as tough as the skull with sets of armored horns that can be used for both defense and attack. It uses the large horns of the skull to fend of predators as well as compete with other members of its species for territory.

Fossil TINKATINK, Fossil TINKATUFF & PTENKATON (Fairy/Rock)
And here are the next fossil forms, this time is the TINKATON line, who now uses the many fossils from the ravine to create digging tools.
Their hands and feet are covered in dirt from digging so much in search of more bones, and with time this dirt has become a protective layer, like boots and gloves.
TINKATINK uses the skull of an Austriadactylus and a fossilized egg as a shovel and pail, the sand around its feet resembles flip-flops
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
TINKATUFF uses the skull and bones of a Pteranodon Sternbergi as a pickaxe and the dome of a Pachysephalosaurus as a helmet
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
PTENKATON has made a Jackhammer out of several bones, with the skull resembling that of a Tropeognatus, and the dome of a Stygimoloch as a helmet

They have an ability called "Earth Mover" that boost the power of ground type moves, so, despite being rock types they have acces to all the "bone" and "drill" moves

Headcanons for Fossil Pokemon? Not any specific one but the group in general
Fossil Pokemon are reconstructions. While reasonably accurate, they tend to have differences from what the original Pokemon looked like due to having to fill in gaps in the DNA.
Most fossil Pokemon were not rock-types when they were alive. Exceptions are thought to be Aerodactyl and the Cranidos line.
Fossil 'mons are generally restricted to only lab settings and special safari zones, making obtaining one difficult. However, in some areas they've been intentionally reintroduced, and are legal to catch under certain conditions.
There are also areas where fossil 'mons have become a bit of an invasive species due to careless releases.
"Most scientists working on reviving long-extinct species are smiting Arceus" rumors untrue. Most fossil scientists are ethical. cara liss, who has committed 8,000 acts of questionable morality, is an outlier adn should not have been counted
Some museums have outdoor areas with the revived fossil 'mons next to their archeology displays, so trainers can get an idea of what the Pokemon was like when it was alive.
Because fossil 'mons have not been domesticated, they tend to be harder to train then modern-day Pokemon.

Omastar, one of my favorite Pokemon of all time! It deserves an illustrator card, so I made one. I'm really trying to find a way to make Omastar V work well, but so far no dice.
