An Exciting New Paper

Following our recent update to Somerset Enhanced Velvet, we would like to introduce you to Canson Infinity Platine Fibre Rag 310gsm. A beautiful fine art paper made from 100% cotton with a smooth surface and a pearlescent coating, making it the perfect choice for photographic and fine art images requiring a premium semi-gloss finish.

To be able to add Platine Fibre Rag to our paper lineup, we have decided to retire two papers that have been less popular with our customers; Fotospeed Smooth Pearl 290gsm and Hahnemuhle FineArt Pearl 285gsm. For those printing on Smooth Pearl 290gsm, we now recommend using Hahnemuhle Photo Luster 260gsm; although ever so slightly whiter, its surface is very similar, and we believe it to be a more than suitable alternative.

Platine Fibre Rag is the perfect replacement for Hahnemuhle FineArt Pearl 285gsm; the finish and print quality are very similar, if not better in many cases. We're also happy to announce that Platine Fibre Rag will be priced in our lower Fine Art group alongside Rag Photographique, making this new paper more affordable than previous options.

We're excited to have a second Canson Infinity paper within our range. Rag Photographique 310gsm has been a firm favourite for our customers since its introduction in 2019; we hope this will be the same for Platine Fibre Rag in the years ahead.

This project was inspired in the nature and its distorted ways of reaching beauty and perfection in everything. Roots, branches and vines can be contorted and chaotic by close, but looking at the bigger image one will find symmetry and harmony. what’s the best paper to make prints? 🤔

hi! sorry this took me a while to get to, i wanted to ask some designer friends what they would recommend too. here’s some suggestions, in no particular order:

— french paper co

— red river paper

— C2S paper

— black diamond paper

— marrutt paper

— fotospeed paper

i’m also open to other suggestions if anyone has any!

i’d recommend buying a sample pack of paper if possible and doing some test prints! hope this helps <3

Our Three New Papers

Earlier this week we updated our website with our new prices for the coming year, we also introduced three new papers to our range.

Fotospeed Smooth Pearl 290gsm Similar to our existing Photo Luster 260gsm paper, Smooth Pearl 290gsm has a semi gloss photographic coating and a warmer pearlescent surface that gives photographic images depth and contrast. With its wide colour gamut, it’s a paper capable of working across photographic mediums. It's 290gsm weight gives larger prints rigidity and strength.

Canson Infinity Baryta Photographique 310gsm Canson Infinity's award-winning Baryta paper is a silky smooth, warm toned photographic paper that is perfectly suited to black and white photography - but it's a paper that shouldn't be overlooked for colour images either.

Hahnemühle FineArt Pearl 285gsm FineArt Pearl has a subtle artistic paper texture and a pearlescent coating that helps create contrast and saturation. FineArt Pearl is equally suited to photographic images, traditional art and illustrative work alike, a true all-purpose paper.
