I need more content of the fourth wall librarians cuz omg they're so fun. I need to see them interacting with eachother and Kim Dokja I need to see them playing cards I need to see their character development develop in the library of plot developments. I also need to see the time when SP conned YJH into stealing Kim Dokja's novel comments book from his brain library please and thank you

I’m sorry I need to talk about this for a second
This part right here. When Nirvana tries to use Thought Infection on Kim Dokja. And this ability that absolutely neutralized Yoo Joonghyuk, Min Jiwon, and Yoo Sangah…
just…
bounces right off.
and it’s set up like this big badass moment. Kim Dokja saves the day again. Kim Dokja can face down anyone. He’s more powerful than every other incarnation and constellation, no matter how much foreknowledge they have.
But honestly?
It kinda just makes me sad.
yjh is incapacitated by the Eternal Nightmare ability because of all the awful things he’s seen and experienced, yes.
But as we know from 1863, happy memories can be much more debilitating for him than sad ones. And while he’s only got 1-2’s memories right know, we know that 2 had some incredibly happy memories to pass on, memories that make the losses that much harder to take.
And Min Jiwon?
Of course she doesn’t actually want to visit a spa while her friends and troops are dying. But can you blame her for having some deep craving for comfort and relaxation right now?
But for Kim Dokja…
The Fourth Wall isn’t just protecting kdj from the negative effects of the skill. It’s not hiding his secret desires, or absorbing his emotions.
It is literally preventing him from experiencing the world around him as reality. Not just because it feels improbable or surreal, but because it is literally keeping him separate from the world around him. On a fundamental level, he does not believe he is truly present in this time and space.
This is derealization and dissociation on an unbelievably intense scale.
“If we’re just characters, why did you die for us so many times?”
Why wouldn’t he? He’s not here, not really. He’s just Reading this story, no matter how much sway he’s been having over what has happened. All of that is just his work as a Reader hoping to see the Epilogue of his favorite novel.
“It was a really great story, isn’t that right?”
Narratively satisfying. A twist ending. A fate that subverted expectations.
An Epilogue worth Reading. Not touching, not feeling, not joining, not creating. Just watching. From a distance away. From behind glass. Through the cracks in a wall.
After all, a story can’t exist without a writer, a protagonist, and a reader. Only two of them truly participate in creating the story. But when you’re the Reader, it’s always worth reading the story again. And again. And again. And again. And again ,

Thinking about how HSY and YJK were the least okay with 49% KDJ, because 49% didn't really remember them. (Those were kept by 51%)
Thinking about how HSY and YJK are technically closer to 50% versions of their original selves.
Thinking about how KDJ failed to save 50% of YJK in the 1863rd round. He failed to save ??? % of HSY there too.
Thinking about how none of them are okay with just having a fragment of one another, that they need each other whole to feel whole themselves, how they will try saving each other in ways they don't want to be saved, and how absolutely fucking broken KDJ was at the end of 1863rd round but the [Fourth Wall] was activating so damn hard, his turmoil didn't come out of his POV.
Reading in between the lines here... before KDJ leaves the 1863rd worldline, he gives 1863rd HSY a wrinkled notebook as a guide.
Guys... I think that notebook was stained and wrinkled with his tears.

the contradictory dichotomy that is kim dokja's relationship with reality and fiction is totally skewed and it totally makes me see mirrors between the people from both sides of his fourth wall, including himself...
lee sookyung (his mom) <--> tls123 (1863rd han sooyoung)
for his sake, both women sacrificed their lives and turned the lives of others into a story to be used for his survival. and yet kim dokja hates one but loves the other. his only means of contact with either woman was through a “wall”... they also gave up their stories, their lifeblood, for him at one point.
kim dokja's online persona <--> lee gilyoung
both are fanatics to their interests (insects and twsa) and idols (funny, cuz it goes like this: lgy -> kdj -> yjh). they both clung to the first thing that'd help them survive and never quite learned to let go. both fiercely defensive of who and what they love...
kim dokja as a child <--> shin yoosung
both carry survivor's guilt from their first murder and for taking advantage of people (kdj -> twsa characters; sys -> unnamed extras). both saw themselves as “bad” for a long time. both connect better to their comfort object (books and animals). both experience disconnected film theory and feel guilty enough from their other selves' actions to volunteer (atone by) suicide.
yoo sangah <--> yoo joonghyuk
not my oddest comparison so far, but this still weirds me out. heewon's a close competitor but ysa won out.
both are among the staunchest characters in their convictions. both realized they had to adapt to survive. both shed blood usually out of (self-justified) necessity. both are supported by powerhouses. both used one of the “three ways to survive” (reincarnation and regression). both have opposing yet similar deceptive personas (ysa is soft but can be sharp while yjh is cold but hides a warmth). both have chosen to trust kdj despite evidence otherwise. both terrify the rat a lot.
han sooyoung (“plagiarist”) <--> anna croft
anuzzer odd comparison of mine... odder than the last.
both are disliked by kdj from the start, but become his temporary and later permanent allies later on. both proclaim to know the future (credibility aside). both leaders of their own groups that ended up disbanding cuz of kdj. both at odds with kdj's protag.
kim dokja's antisociality <--> han donghoon
both hide behind the screen. both have a severe distrust of people in general. both are good at reading between the lines. both probably terminally and chronically addicted to their phones.
kim dokja's relatives <--> the dokkaebis
both milked kdj for all his worth and more. both tried extorting him (only one of them succeeded). both aired his dirty laundry to the public.
news reporters <--> constellations
both are always hungry for stories. “thrill seekers” and “incarnation seekers”. both have hounded kdj against his will. some romanticize kdj, others stand quietly by his side, the rest want his head on a pike.
kim dokja towards yoo joonghyuk <--> fourth wall towards kim dokja
sometimes pro, sometimes against. both like teasing their partners. both have snark and sass and unabashedly abuse it. both watched over their partner's long and lonely journey.

I want the anime adaptation of orv to start drawing Dokja as a decently plain man in the train. And then I want them to slowly distort or blur his features as he becomes more and more separated from the story. I want his face to become more detailed as he gets closer and closer to certain characters

is it just me or does it feel like the audience got fourth-walled this chapter. I mean it’s like Dokja isn’t even the narrator this chapter. We barely got to see his face in its entirety. It’s like we don’t even know who he is during this chapter. It’s jarring in a weirdly good way after the continuous influx of thoughts narrated by Dokja the chapters before.

The fourth wall becomes a lot funnier when you realize that KDJ’s special skill is advanced denial and slight dissociation

yoo joonghyuk probably has all of these really obscure skills from all of his regressions and they're just slowly revealed to kim dokja and co through like hidden scenarios or just randomly walking in on him doing shit. like they accidentally walk into a hidden scenario and its like make ice sculptures to entertain the constellations and the penalty isn't anything bad but it messes with kim dokja's plans and he's like oh for fucks sake but then yoo joonghyuk just rolls up his sleeves and gets to work while everyone just stares in shock as he crafts these immaculate scenes in the ice.

remember kim dokja's bully song minwoo? yeah, that guy... must be wild for kim dokja to find out that his bully from more than ten years ago had resorted to cannibalism in the apocalypse to exert his alpha male dominance and unleash his inner furry when the society as they knew it collapsed. if i was in kim dokja's shoes, the moment i found out that my former bully did just what song minwoo did, i would have had a eurika moment and would scream my word vomit- because that must've have explained a lot of things. my tormentor, you must have a lot of confusion in you, huh? instead of terrorizing 4chan and tumblr in the ye ole year of '06 & '07 with your fursona, you terrorized me instead. and then, punch him in the face.

Han Sooyoung was always into nerdy men, but they were all too intimidated to approach her, pre-scenarios
