So here is a question mon ame. Hiccup is a man out of his time oui? His ideas are new, his mathmatics impressive, and his inventions one can say almost Renaissance, and seem reminiscent of Da Vinci. So my question for you is, when do you think the Dragon riders would fit in best? Which era of human history would they belong to best? Merci.
It’s an interesting question! Hiccup is indeed someone who is far ahead of his time period, creating inventions that extend beyond the technological capabilities of his own people and other people groups. He revolutionizes Berk through some amazing improvements - such as the aqueduct system we see in HTTYD 2. Because of that, I think it’s cool that you connect that sort of inventive behavior with an innovative Renaissance mentality. I can see the connection!
As far as “when” the dragon riders all fit best, I think I have a little different perspective than many people might do. I know a lot of us see personality traits of a character and think that they would fit in better with a time period that seems to correlate to their traits - for instance, as you did with Hiccup and the Renaissance. For me myself, I don’t think that a time period will necessarily match better with an individual just because we see them manifest certain characteristics in their own canon lifetime. If we put them into a different culture, a different history, a different time period, then we also have to take into account that they’ll be raised differently, might develop different characteristics, and might change quite a bit. It’s a weird challenge to be able to consider what parts of the character are nature, what parts are nurture, and how that would be affected across time and history. Wherever and whenever we throw them, essentially, they’ll adapt and mold to it.
This might coincide with my own personal beliefs about life and meaning, but for me, I always think a character simultaneously is already in the historical era they fit best, and that there is no one time period in which they would fit in the best. Hiccup, to take an example, would probably be an innovative character no matter what time period we put him in. The Renaissance would help encourage his innovative behavior, absolutely, but even in the canon world of tiny little Berk which wants no change, Hiccup manages to make a big difference. Across time and history and different cultures, I imagine Hiccup would still be innovative best he can - he would be innovative in the Industrial Revolution or with computer technology in our modern era. He’d meld into the culture and go with it, whenever and wherever he so happens to be. Fishlegs, for his own part, could be excited with the Romantic Era arts, or the Library of Alexandria, or today’s current movements, or a whole host of other things. They could meld and be interesting in all sorts of times!
The thing with people is that - when we are born and raised into a place - we more or less grow with it and fit into it. So whatever times Hiccup and Astrid and Fishlegs and Tuffnut and Ruffnut and Heather and Snotlout would be best at... would be where they so happen to be. They become settled into the environment they are, adapt to it, and grow through it.
Now of course we can still think of fun AU times where we can put the characters. What would be interesting, given their personality? For me, I like to imagine it as the whole team - if we relocate one character to a different historical time (and maybe different location altogether), then we might as well relocate every single character and see how it plays out. There are some really cool historical/cultural possibilities out there, I think, for AUs with the team, and I think I’d especially have fun relocating the whole team to someplace like Ancient Greece or Rome, Ancient Mayan Civilization, the Khmer Empire, or one of several Chinese dynasties. For some reason I can especially imagine the whole team in Ancient Greece or Rome... it feels... like the story and characters could oddly be adapted and fit well?

You are a RWBY fan!? Please tell me that there is a haven for sanity in this fandom. All I was able to find was mindless Jaune and Sun hate!
Hell yeah mang.
It’s maddening how awful tumblr’s side of the FNDM is and yet it’s also the main source of fan content.

Okie Dokie I’ll post it tomorrow sometime :D Except I want to start posting this story to AO3, because this story, if I continue it till it starts reaching a workable ending, is going to be like... 70 chapters long at least. More, most likely, and that’s just way too complicated to deal with on tumblr lol.
I’ll work on crossposting it tonight so the new chapter is ready to post tomorrow :)

Well as fellow New Vegas lover who has sold her soul to play legion, Basically the Legion takes over the Moveja Wasteland, and New Vegas actually becomes Rome. The tribes are either brutally suppressed, wiped out, or intergrated into the Legion depeneding on your choices. Boon either turns into a man dedicated to sniping them, or turns into a one man wrecking crew, on a sucide mission. His final act is to spit tobacco juice on Caeser while being crucified.
Nooooooo, I can’t kill Boone, he’s my favorite that’s so sad...
But I should still do it, for science...

With political violence on the rise in the American left, I think people have forgotten a very important fact, and this German explains it much better than many others
francaisfillehttyd
Well spoken. It covers the point pretty well.
“Lmao u cant convince neonazis to be nice”
No shit sherlock, that’s not the fucking point! They’re not the ones you need to convince, it’s everyone who’s watching you and seeing a bunch of violent maniacs trying to burn down our fucking country because they think anyone who doesn’t think like them is a nazi, regardles of whether or not they actually fucking are.

Bonjour mon ame! In your versus thing the Bewilderbeast and Red Death... How about Smaug the Magnificent versus them? Merci!
Hello hello! :)
I did not remember this before, but apparently I have written an analysis about Smaug versus the Red Death. I argue that Smaug would win a battle against the Red Death, and I still hold that, true.
Smaug is smaller than a Bewilderbeast, but still of a sufficiently large size to have quite the battle ahead of him. I believe that Smaug would win a fight against the Bewilderbeast for several reasons.
First, Smaug is much more agile than the Bewilderbeast, as well as quicker. He is faster on the ground than the Bewilderbeast is, and he can fly far faster than the Bewilderbeast can move, too. This means Smaug would be able to dodge any ice attacks that the Bewilderbeast attempts.
Not only that, but Smaug has far superior firepower to any of the HTTYD dragons. He appears to be able to breathe fire in basically limitless amounts based upon how he covers Esgaroth in fire.
Tumblr media
Smaug wouldn’t have to worry about tactically using limited fire in pragmatic circumstances. Since he has limitless fire breathing abilities, Smaug’s tactic can be fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, FIRE. And it would work. Smaug vastly overpowers dragons like the Bewilderbeast when it comes to what he can shoot out of his mouth.
Last, presumably the Bewilderbeast would not be able to control Smaug’s mind. Smaug wouldn’t have the same biology as the HTTYD dragons, nor be at all related to them, so I wouldn’t suspect that he would be susceptible to the Bewilderbeast’s hive mind. In the majority of circumstances, the Bewilderbeast is going to prevent battles by taking over the minds of other dragons - only when it faces something like another Bewilderbeast would be out of the question.
So Smaug is an enormous, forever-fire breathing, quick dragon who is immune to the Bewilderbeast’s primary form of besting other dragons.
I do think Smaug would win.

Bonjour mon amie! I love Eret III it is such a wonderful, well I would not say tragedy, but a wonderful, and bitter tale. Can I ask you a question? Is it wrong that I would like to see Hiccup, especially now that he has his temper up, locked in a small confined space with Astrid? I love how you write Angrycup, and I love how you write Eret III. It is such a wonderful treat! Will we get to see some more or Eret coming to realise that the world is not so easily put into black and white? Merci!
Thank you so much for this like...super thorough message, it makes me so happy.
It is not bad that you want to see Hiccstrid now.  Because you will.  Because I’m going to write it later and I am so excited, man.  So stoked.  And I love that you liked it.
And Eret will just keep learning and growing and I hope I’m doing it slow and well enough.  I hope it feels like even and measured character development.

Bonjour! How about your top five languages to listen to? Merci!
Ooh, to listen to.
1. English, because I really really love understanding what people are saying.  Like, that sounds dumb, but I do, I like hearing words I can make sense of.  To specify though, I’d say any sort of strongly accented English is most interesting.
2. Probably Mandarin Chinese.  I just think it sounds really pretty.  Of course I understand none of it, and that applies to the rest of these pretty much so...
3. Spanish.  I understand it minimally but it’s still pretty.
4. French.  Ditto.
5.  German.  It’s so definite.
Ask me my Top 5
