I've been on Twitter for the past few days mostly observing and I can't help but think how fucked up is that as a black person I cannot find comfort in fandoms with black main characters, that I have to still remain vigilant and aware of those around me because racism STILL manages to seep it's dirty paws into these damn spaces.

I should not have to watch Miles, Hobie and Miguel get whitewashed to hell and back (they were not the only ones going through this btw), I shouldn't have seen the same shit happen to Amanda the Adventurer a few months back. I shouldn't have to watch black people and black characters gets mistreated by their "fan base" and yet here we are.

This is all can be sourced back to a bigger problem about how there's prevalent anti-blackness online and how shit like "you're one of the good ones" can be so damaging, and how people try to take away the ethnic features of bipoc characters so that they can feel comfortable with liking them makes me so angry, but mostly sad.

Sad that no matter what I and other black people do we aren't accept as is in society, and because of that our identities are disposed of.
