(We often let him pick what we watch. He doesn’t have all his words yet, so he has shortened names for things: Turning Red is “Panda” and Encanto is “Bruno” and the Mario movie is “Bowser,” for example. I have no idea what “Daddy” is, though. Yet.)

My 2-year-old, insistent now: “Daddy!”

Me: “could you show me, bug?”

My 2-year-old, trotting over to the tv, pointing at the tile for Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir, and tapping on Chat Noir: “Daddy!”

My Wife: *cackling*

Me: “first of all-”

My Wife: “that’s totally you, babe.”

Me: “just because I wanted to be Tuxedo Mask when I was a kid-”

My Wife, who has never watched a single episode of a single Magical Girl Anime in her life: “who?”

Me, who watched several growing up, realizing that I have Played Myself: “harrumph”

My 2-year-old, insistent now, slapping the picture of Chat Noir hard enough to shake the tv: “DADDY!”

My Wife: “you wanna watch Daddy on the tv?”

My 2-year-old: “YES!”

Me: “FINE I GUESS”

One thing I learned about transition is that cis people can be very two-faced about whether or not they support a trans person in their life. The cis person will find enough value in their relationship with the trans person that they don't want to end the relationship, but they ultimately don't respect the trans person enough to truly accept them.

Honestly, though, I really wish those cis people would let those relationships dissolve. I've been in that situation multiple times as a trans person, and it doesn't make me want to have them closer to me. It makes me want to get rid of that relationship even faster. I've heard cis people tell me that they will use my name and they won't deadname me (until they think I'm out of earshot, of course).

In my opinion, it is usually in the best interest of a trans person if they aren't mislead, and if you cannot provide that support, at the very least don't be two-faced about it, and don't blame trans people for that.

The poem itself said that they’d tapped into the Seussian lobe of their brain, and how could I not follow up with Seuss himself after that? Even if only to prove their point, because it WAS such a Seussy poem.

I spent a few weeks checking out all the Dr Seuss books in the library and trawling them for the right images, and there was so much nostalgia in that. The hardest part was picking just one image for every line! I’m glad it did the same for everyone else who read it.

i've been here 10 years and as i (hopefully) have been getting 'better' at thinking critically about Art in general, folks like you and awseriously have made me appreciate object shows on a deeper level, at least the ones fully intended to be thought of on a deeper level

Ive Been Here Since 2016 So Around 6 or 7 Years. A Lot of My Changes in Perception Did Coincide With Me Just Growing Up and Being Able to Interface With Art Better, This is Why I Try Not to Be Too Annoyed at 14 Year Olds Mischaracterizing Their Faves Because if You Scroll Far Enough Back on My Own Blog You'll See Plenty of That.

My Major Perception Shift Though Kind of Coincided With Me Realizing That Nothing is Just Accidental In a Work and That Characters Don't Behave Independently. Being Able to Fully Perceive The Hand of the Creator Made a Lot of Object Show Analysis More Interesting for Me Because Now Its Not a Case of "This Character is Mean", Its a Case Of "Why Did the Creators Write the Character This Way and Why Does the Narrative Frame It As Such" Which is Useful When Engaging With All Art But Esp Independent Smaller Works Like Object Shows.

This is Just a General Rule for Me But Whenever I Engage With Art I Try to Give It the Respect It Deserves and Think About What I Do and Don't Like In it Because Thats What I Would Want From My Own Viewers

Duuuude, thank you! I'm stoked people like my/Jak's aesthetic ( I know some people don't care for aesthetic on their RP blogs, but I put a good amount of effort into cultivating aesthetic! It's almost like a virtual scrapbook...) And I've said it on another post, but I take it as a massive compliment that people can/do feel like they can trust me with like...RP combat without rolls! That's just a nice pat on the back, because...as much as I know you're safe with me (I'm too cripplingly honest to fuck around and try to 'win' in RP - failing is when you get the tasty character growth, most often, anyways!), it's nice to know that others feel at ease in that sense. And big time thanks for the RP compliment - I know A'vaanoh is new as a character, and we're both essentially learning our characters in that respect, but I'm excited to do that with you! To see Pip grow as well, and change in time - and then I get to wonder along the way what he'll be like in...6 months, or 12, or 18...RP is so fun because it's not just about me and my story! It's so great to see your own OC grow, but there's a real special and amazing feeling in getting to be a part of someone else's story/character development!
