Okay, my thoughts on Ballerina because it’s a new fave of mine

-I love how Eve is an inverted John Wick. John Wick was trying to escape the underworld, Eve spends the movie rushing head-long into it. John Wick left the underworld behind to have a normal life. Eve was taken from the normal life into the underworld. I loved the kindness and understanding he showed her, giving her time to get her revenge. I can imagine him being a mentor/surrogate father to her.

-Eve being caught by Ella while trying to find her dad, putting her in a similar positions as the people who killed her own father, THE PARALLELS ARE PARALLELING.

-This movie used just the right amount of Keanu Reeves. He was plot relevant enough to not be a glorified cameo, but didn’t overstay his welcome, because this is Ana de Armas’s movie.

-There’s so many dynamic female characters in this movie! Good women! Bad women! Morally ambiguous women! All of them interesting in their own ways!

-I love how there’s positive relationships between the different women. I was worried there might be come catty competitiveness between the ballerinas (I notice a lot of male writers default to that) but the girls seems to care about each. Even the women who were antagonistic towards each other had deeper reasons than just stereotypical female cattiness.

-I love Anjelica Huston’s character. I liked her in JW chapter three and I knew she’d be in this movie and she did not disappoint. Stylish and cunty. Underrated character.

-“Needing to know is what got us banished from the Garden of Eden. Are you prepared to be cast out again… Eve?” is SUCH A FANTASTIC LINE.

-Eve and the cafe barista repeatedly smashing plates on each other’s heads lol.

-The knife taped to the handle of the pistol.

-THE FLAMETHROWER SCENE.

-Her killing those men with a pair of ice skates. Iconic.

-I now want three sequels about Eve Macarro. (And based on the movie’s ending, we might get at least one!)

Slight Ballerina spoilers below the cut!

The fact that John Wick no doubt saw himself in Eve, that rage and grief, that need for vengeance on those who took someone she loved from her, and the way Eve no doubt saw herself in Ella, a scared kid who had no idea what was going on, who watched her father be brutalized in front of her, who was almost spirited away to a horrible fate. I love how it all circles one another in this ouroboros of connection.

Ballerina From The World Of John Wick was everything i needed and more.

the stabbing the shooting the pushing the shoving the screaming the quiet voice of john wick going stay down and eve snarling and fighting her ass off and saying NO and then the fire everywhere wooooooosh and the sliding and kicking and shooting and reloading and the frying pan and the pot and the kitchen knives and her collecting her throwing knives her boots her hair the tattoo the bloody shoes the grenades the grenades and the grenades and yes she finally found a gun but the grenades the grenades and i'm sorry about your shop and waterbending in the snow and john saying there are rules and CONSEQUENCES and yet he's an angel up high with a big ass gun cos he's back in hell with a fresh brand on his back and it wasn't just because of a PUPPY it was the POINT of he retired for love and lost love and then the puppy. yeah john is back in hell, but he GETS it and they KILLED her FATHER for trying to give her a better violence free life and then had the audacity to say rules and consequences and drop her like a hot potato cos she wanted REVENGE like EVA I AM ALWAYS CARRYING AN EXTRA HAIR TIE ON MY WRIST FOR YOU BABYGIRL YOU DID NOTHING WRONG I LOVE YOU 3000 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖 and winston please go to hell and RIP angel Charon miss you 2k4eva Lance Riddick
