but now you’re so far away and i’m down, feeling like a face in the crowd, i’m reaching for you, terrified

It’s been years now since the war ended. Years since you and your friends saved the world, defeated Zuko’s father and brought peace to the four nations once more. Ever since, everyone’s been busy trying to piece the world back together. Katara’s been staging a feminist revolution in the water tribes, Toph has been reinventing Earth bending, Suki taking the Kyoshi Warriors all over and recruiting, Sokka inventing, Zuko rebuilding a nation and Aang flitting all over the place.

You, on the other hand… What have you achieved? You went back to your village and spent some time telling stories of your adventures to children, then picking up odd jobs on fishing boats and cargo ships to hitch a ride to wherever your friends are off making history. You tell yourself you like the simplicity, like not having to worry about the fate of the world, but you feel like about as insignificant as a speck of dust at your biannual (twice a year) catch ups.

I’m like an old lady telling stories to relive her glory days, you think bitterly.

But you like reliving them. You miss adventuring and seeing the world with your friends. You miss when you were all just kids and there were no real titles or duties in the way (aside from your common goal of ending the war, of course). You miss when Aang looked at you like you’d hung all the stars in the sky, when he was just a boy who liked you but never said it, and when you liked him but refused to show it. Now you feel like you’re miles apart, like he’s on the top of the mountain and you’re left waiting at the base.

You still all write each other, Aang more than the rest but you can’t shake the feeling that it’s out of pity; it’s an obligation to you as an old friend. They’re busy now and that’s not their fault, and you all really would have no reason to go back to camping out. In fact, with the Avatar and Fire Lord especially, it was probably a security risk.

You’re too busy drowning in your own misery to notice Katara until she’s already nudging you in the arm. “Hey, why aren’t you over there with everyone else?”

Starting a little in surprise, you stare at her for a second before sighing as you kick your foot into the dirt and watch the dust rise.

“No reason,” you lie. Because I don’t want to talk to you guys. Especially Aang.

Your time alone has dulled your social skills, because Katara stares at you for a good seven seconds before you realise she expects you to keep talking.

“I think it’s just a little overwhelming to be around many people when I’m usually by myself.”

Her face softens and she reaches out to put her hand on your knee. “But it’s us. We want to make you comfortable and be around you. You know that, right?”

You nod, and she squeezes then releases you. “Let’s start small. Aang!”

Your chest flickers with panic as his bright eyes locate you instantly and he leaves his conversation with Zuko without a second thought. Katara takes his place, striding back up to the group as Aang stops right in front of you.

You feel your heart lurch at finally seeing him up close after spirits knows how many months. He's taller than you now, so it's not hard to avoid his gaze, but you can't tear your eyes away yet. His eyes sparkle at you and you feel yourself flush at how cute he looks with faint freckles dusting the upper part of his cheeks.

"Hey," he greets you softly, taking a seat beside you. "How are you?"

"I'm good," you find yourself saying, despite your mind being devoid of any thought that's not of him. His smile that's as sweet as ever, his eyes, his pink lips. How he's so, so out of your league.

Much like Katara, Aang seems unsatisfied with your short reply. "What have you been up to?"

Thinking about how much I love you. You can't say that, of course, so you babble on about the courier job you did a few months ago, which was great because you helped find a few new Kyoshi Warriors for Suki. When you look back at him once more, Aang has a soft look on his face, and a smile that seems to be there without his knowledge. Your face flushes, stomach flips and something akin to hope rises within you.

His cheeks turn pink when you've trailed off and he realises you're looking at him.

"Wow," he says. "That sounds really great."

You roll your eyes a little, feeling a sense of familiarity. "It's fine, you don't have to pretend you're interested. I know it's all boring compared to the work of the great Avatar."

"No, really," he insists, and there's an urgency in his voice, as if he needs you to know how genuine he is. "I think everything you do is amazing."

You smile. "Really?"

Aang nods down at you, eyes wide. "Well, yeah. I mean, it's you."

Embarrassed but pleased, you look down at your shoes before looking back up at him. "Thanks, Aang."

He grins at you, before glancing over to the others. "Wanna go catch up with everyone else?"

You take a look over at your friends. They look normal now, like a group of friends laughing, instead of the incredible figures they are. You nod at him and he extends a hand out to help you up. You take it.

You can't tell him how much he means to you, but you feel closer now. All you can do now is hope that one day, he gets the message.

waiting for us — chapter thirty eight. cat cafe

You and Minho had agreed to meet up at the cafe since you had a early shift at love stay. Of course he had wanted to pick you up but had only relented when you insisted that you’d really enjoy the short walk. You had agreed to let him take you to work for the rest of the week though.

He was sat at a table already waiting for you when you walked in, the tiniest smile curling at his lips at the sight of you. Perhaps he had got there a little early, maybe just a little excited to be having some alone time with you. Not that he would ever admit that.

Minho waves you over and you make your way to him, sliding into the seat right across from him at the small table.

“Hi Min,” You greet him softly and he would have been happy at the nickname but his lips curl into a slight frown. He can see what looks like a purple bruise high on your cheekbone. It seems like you’ve tried to cover it with makeup but part of your foundation has wiped away from your shift. Minho so desperately wants to ask what happened, why you were hurt, but he knew the odds you’d actually answer him were low. Despite only meeting you a handful of times he already knew you would just deflect, trying to not make a big deal out of it. You were just like him in that way. He let’s it go because the last thing he wants to do is ruin the date by asking.

So he takes a deep breath, cooling his expression before you can notice. Minho can’t deny the immediate anger at the thought of someone hurting you. Someone as precious as you.

“Hey Kitten,” Minho takes so much pride in the way your cheeks flush. You were sure these boys were going to be the death of you.

The two of you order drinks, a caramel macchiato for you and a latte for Minho. Both drinks came with cute cat art on the top and you find it cute that Minho just has to take a picture for a keepsake. You also order some paw shaped cookies. They taste pretty good but you can’t help but think that a certain fairy boy could make something even better.

Eventually the two of you find yourselves on the floor, playing with the cats in the cafe. Several cats have crowded around Minho, head butting him softly for attention. You coo and take several pictures, sending them to the group chat. You’re surprised that the cats have flocked to him, but at the same time you’re pretty sure they can tell that he’s one of them.

On the flip side, Minho can’t help but watch you as you sit in the corner, with one of the black cats, a cat toy in your hand as you play with the kitty. That signature small smile graces his features as he watches you. Would it be too much to ask you if you want to be the mother to his own cats? Which reminded him that he had to tell you all about his babies. Minho sneaks his own pictures of you to retaliate as he also sends them to the group chat, the boys instantly cooing over you.

As he watches you he can’t help but feel complete, so content. While he knows you’re still getting used to them, 8 soulmates can be overwhelming, Minho still feels like you fit in so perfectly with them. The missing puzzle piece they’ve been looking for, for such a long time. And now that you were here he promised himself that he wasn’t going to let you go. Not if he could help it.

moon's gaming cafe: moon's opened at the same time as cuppa cove, may 13th 2024. it was seungcheol and jun's plan to always own a gaming cafe together since they never had one growing up. they sell hot & cold drinks, cakes, sandwiches, toasties etc. they are open between 2pm - 10pm mon - fri and slots can be booked on their website for whether people want a computer or a room to play board games in.

DEAR JONGSEONG - wow wow

Jay doesn’t know why his heart is pounding so fast.

He was just going to see you, his childhood best friend for the first time in 7 years!

No big deal, right?

He opens the door of the canteen, eyes searching for you.

He almost misses you because, wow. Wow.

You’re beautiful.

Even more beautiful than you were back then.

10 year old Jongseong would be having a heart attack right now.

He slowly makes his way towards you, stopping a foot away.

You look up and immediately break out into a smile.

Getting up, you make your way towards him and before he knows it, you’re hugging him.

“Hi,” you whisper in his ear. He can feel a shiver run down his spine as his arms come around to hug you back.

“Hey,” he replies. You smell like strawberries and vanilla and he subtly inhales your scent before you pull away.

“It’s so good to see you, sit down!”

You sit back down and he follows, sitting across from you.

“So it’s been how many years? Seven? How have you been?”

He takes a second to think.

“I’ve been good, life has been pretty uneventful. I got through school with good grades and now I’m here.”

You nod, listening intently.

“How have you been?” He asks, looking at the menu in front of him.

“Pretty much the same as you. Uneventful. Being here with you is like the most exciting thing I’ve experienced in a while.”

That makes Jay’s heart beat even faster.

“This is pretty exciting for me too. You’re…beautiful. I mean, I don’t really know what else to say.”

You blush profusely, “You’re not too bad yourself.”

Jay laughs, a genuine laugh, proud of himself for making you blush.

You and Jay find a way to make conversation for the next hour, ordering food and eating as you talk.

You tell him about your classes, your friends and he does the same.

By the time you’re both finished eating, he has a class to attend in 15 minutes, as do you.

“I’ll pay,” Jay says, pulling out his wallet.

“No, no this is my treat!”

“It can be your treat next time!”

Your eyebrows raise, “Next time?”

Jay can feel himself blushing now.

“Well our schedules match up pretty closely, we should do this again,” Jay says, getting ready to stand up.

You follow him, standing up and following Jay to the register.

After he pays, you both make your way out of the canteen, already making plans for another hang out.

“I’ll text you,” he says. You nod making your way in the opposite direction.

As he walks away, Jay feels his heart, still beating fast.

minghao! i loved minghao wayy before i started trying to get to know seventeen, i just love his acro abilities and his silent love languages and he’s chinese so. bonus points! (i get to understand him speaking lol)

2. between 2 and 6, who are you most attached to? - mark and winwin

OH. ohh that’s a hard one actually because i’m very attached to mark’s casualness and his dorky sense of humour but at the same time i just recently realised how much i need to see winwin in wayv??? so as of right now i’d say winwin but that’s subject to change LOL

3. if you were to spend the day with either 3 or 1, who would you choose and what would you do? - ten and lee know

oh. i’d pick ten because i love ten a little too much, and i would go for like a pottery class with him because it’s just a fun little crafty activity. i feel like he’d be good at it? and also it would just be really fun to get messy and get something cute out of it

HIS SMILE i just love when he laughs bc he’s so goofy!! when he smiles i feel like sunshine’s running through my veins. also i love his skin tone

can’t say i get to see much of it (cough sm) but from what i have seen, i think he’s very comfortable with people around him and i love that! i love seeing him interact with people he’s comfortable with. funnily enough, he seems to get awkward around cameras (maybe i’m imagining things though) but i think that’s adorable too! #sorelatable

6. if you were to tell 8 anything you wanted, what would you tell them? - keeho

i would tell him what an amazing leader he is. i usually see him being funny but lately i think ive also been seeing more clips of him being soft towards his members and i just think he’s very mature for his age!

mark’s. hands down. sorry but ten’s dressing style is so unique only he could pull it off, and mark seems like the type of guy to have really comfy clothes

i think he fits the bad boy aesthetic a bit too well? im not very sure about this question though 🧍🏼‍♀️

9. between 5 and 4, who are you closer to in height? - minghao and haechan

haechan but i’m short and they only differ by 4cm in height so idk what you expect me to say lol (i’m 157cm tall)

svt’s music is TOP TIER i used to love blackpink’s music but i think i’ve definitely overplayed most of their songs and my taste has also changed!

i biased my girl seulgi first :> i started stanning red velvet in between peek-a-boo and bad boy era and i literally love her sm i gay panic whenever i see her and she's so cute and quirky i fell in love instantly !!!

2. between 2 and 6, who are you more attached to?

umm,,, how dare u give me this question rn. wheein has been my ult for the past 5-6 years and i feel like i can declare us as a v chill married couple lmfao and i love her w all my heart. but tbh jun has grown so much on me and finally putting him in my bias line is just ugh <3 <3 got my heart flippin and feet kickin (it doesn't help i have like,, a lot of ideas for him in terms of wips)

3. if you were to spend the day with either 3 or 1, who would you choose and what would you do?

again... what the hell U R MAKING ME CHOOSE BETWEEN MY TOP BIASES IN SVT?? absolute insanity. ugh,, okay jeonghan ily babe but i gotta go with my fav boy seungkwan <3 i feel like he'll take me out of my comfort zone n just take me out to places n just be the most supportive person ever. like i can imagine our arms locked together while walking down the avenue or sum idfk

i just,, i love jun's quirkiness and awkwardness sometimes i always swoon over him <3 he may be quiet at times but he's such a big source of strength for not just me but for all his members. i get why they all love him sm

my gf yunjin KEEP BEING YOU MA'AM. do whatever you want that makes you happy. you're such a big inspo to me and so funny and talented and beautiful and all those synonyms i cannot grasp how much i love her

ohhhhh definitely wheein. our styles r very similar and honestly she's the reason why my style is like this to this day!! she has such unique fashion taste and omfg i'd love to raid clothing stores w her. altho i'd rlly love to steal some of seungkwan's sweaters,,,,...

omfgomfg uhhh honestly jeonghan can literally pull off any damn style he wants, and im too scatterbrained rn to think of a specific style. i love his soft boy looks tho n the style/clothing he wore in berlin got me feeling some type of way yk IT SUITS HIM SO MUCH
