I hated what Disney did to the parents in frozen 2. They just glossed over what they did to sisters and never really acknowledged how the parents messed them. Even in the Olaf recap, they never state that the parents were the ones that separated them. What I liked about the first movie was that the parents hurt both of the sisters, even when that wasn’t the intention. They had no evil motive to do this. They believe that it would be best for everyone, but it wasn’t. We see how it had a terrible impact on Elsa and Anna. In Other Disney movies, it goes two ways. One is that the caretaker doesn’t love nor care about the main character and they are just evil (a la evil queen, her bootleg clone gothel, frollo, lady Tremaine). The other way is that the parent abused you, but it’s ok because they love you, and they're doing it out of love (a la king triton). Frozen 1 was different from that. It was a good message because it showed that even parents can hurt their children, even when had no intention of hurting their children and were doing what they thought was best for them. Frozen 2 just throws this message out of the window.

ugh i’m ngl i’m genuinely like really dreading the whole idea of a frozen 3. i had my hopes up so high for frozen 2 and then all i truly liked about it was the music and pretty animation, it took the future of the franchise in a direction i barely enjoy, and the fandom was never the same from how divisive it was. toy story 5 will be easier to ignore but frozen has always been so so so special to me and i just want the characters to be left where they are at this point. i’m still annoyed that we never got a series or more shorts besides frozen fever and olaf’s frozen fever that expanded on the world and characters directly after the first movie, and i feel like the franchise’s potential has truly been wasted a bit by not having them. i would much rather we just get some animated content about the 3 years between frozen 1 and 2--even if it would have to develop the characters in ways i would inevitably dislike in order to lead into F2--than get frozen 3. epsecially the way the characters ended up in 2 made them feel so different from the ones i loved in the first movie to begin with.

Frozen fandom, I have a message for you!
Y'all really need to calm down on the asumptions cause it's possible that none of them turn on canon. I'm gonna adress the two big ones: Norse myth and Hans (by extension Helsa)
Tumblr media
Unless, we've heard completely different speeches, Jennifer Lee never mentionned Norse myth. The castle in the sky could be Asgard as much as it could not. Let's not forget the question castle ruins in Ahtohallan. Ahtohallan already being its own entity. Norse myth could play a role in F3 and F4 as well as it could not. Yes, Frozen has inspirations and references to Norse myth, but it's not the only one . One thing you tend to forget is the great inspiration of Saami culture the Frozen franchise have, especially in the second movie. It would be more logical if they keep that way for the new movies instead of going after Norse myth as their main base. Nothing's confirmed.
Y'all have the right to make every theory you want but, keep in mind that at the end of the day, they remain theories. Mrs Lee told us to not hold onto that concept art. Let's consider all possibilities. It could be completely wipped off and we wouldn't know before 2027. Don't forget they were still chanoine the script a few months before F2 premiere and that Elsa was villian before Mrs got involved in the project. We're never sure with Frozen.
Tumblr media
I'ma be fully honest, I don't want Hans to be a relevant character again and I'm quite fine with him being a joke along the franchise. The idea of a redemption arc with him having a positive role in the sisters' story, the possibility of Helsa even more make me sick. BUT all I'm about to say could also apply to my views on Honeymaren and elsamaren.
"Coming out of Frozen 2, we still have some questions. A lot of questions. That is just page one. Now you see why it will take two films to answer them. Just a tease, once again just a tease." These are Mrs Lee's words
This more looks like a list of the questions they've received. Rather than the ones F3 and F4 are gonna answer. Mrs Lee didn't say that. Considering the fact that the first two are already answered. Ahtohallan. The fifth spirit is the human spirit, Elsa and Anna are the bridge between spirits and humans (one side of each). Just watch Frozen 2 and the Myth short, please.
But let's say, all of these questions are gonna get answered. Some of them can just be mentionned a few seconds. And It's still not a confirmation of Hans's return and even less of a potential redemption arc. You can theorize what you want but Hans could also remain a blatant franchise joke. Or we could just see a memory of him in Ahtohallan showing what he became. Mrs Lee didn't confirm which characters are coming back for the sequels (even though it seems clear our five MCs and the Nokk are). We don't know anything about Hans's future.
1- Long story short, I'm not telling y'all what you should believe or not, I'm just asking to not act like what is NOT confirmed is. Don't hold too much on your asumptions cause you might end up not appreciating the actual movies if none of them happens. As an elsamaren shipper, I feel what I say.
2- I also fear y'all might start a new misinformation wave. Critical thinking and media literacy being concepts unknown in most of the fandoms, it can turn out really bad. I haven't forgotten how dirty some of you did Honeymaren just you didn't like the idea of lesbian Elsa. To this day, there are still being convinced she is her cousin. I remember really well how many people fall for that ai fake news made by a SATIRE disney account that Elsa was getting married to a woman in F3...

It’s exhausting to see anti-ending fans go after Honeymaren for telling Elsa she belongs in the forest. Elsa was already in the mindset to stay, Honey telling her that wouldn’t have made any difference. Her saying that is meant to represent that the two women are starting to form a relationship. It’s good for Elsa to create bonds outside her family.
Also, it’s becoming annoying to see anti-ending fans use Anna as a way to represent their own frustrations. Anna is fine with Elsa being in the woods, and even encourages Elsa to stay in her letters. On top of this, as a loving sister, Anna would have no issues with Elsa forming relationships with people outside of her.

Kristoff: Are you ready to do this? Are you ready to make a damn fool of yourself?
Anna: I’m always ready to make a damn fool of myself.

Rewatching frozen 2, it’s obvious that the narrative heavily focuses on Elsa and her wellbeing over other characters. I get she’s their cash cow but still. It ruins the plot and movie for me. She gets all this attention from their parents while Anna gets nothing. The favoritism towards Elsa is even seen in other frozen media and it just brings down the whole franchise for me.
What I really wished they did for Anna was give her some sort of magic, preferably fire powers. It could’ve been this cool parallel where when Elsa needed to learn how to warm up to people, Anna would need to learn how to cool down and not let her emotions (her anger and resentment) get in the way of her relationships and the safety of arendelle. Kinda wish we got that instead of “oh Elsa is the fifth element!” It’s also similar to Kai from Ninjago, where he had to learn that he wasn’t the chosen one and that his fire element is much more valuable than being the green ninja, and that he shouldn’t let his fiery side hurt the people he cares about. Unfortunately that wasn’t the outcome we got.

People love bringing up Anna was already the main character in F1, until you ask them to treat/respect Anna like a main character, instead of giving all the merchandising, marketing, spotlight, praise and credit to Elsa.
And the conversation always comes down to "but Anna had more screen time" because that's literally the only thing Anna has going for her over Elsa out of the things I just listed, and even they know it (wheter they wanna admit it or not).
If Elsa being the main character in F2 (and the franchise now in general) makes things "fair", then that should also mean Anna should get all the merchandising, marketing, spotlight, praise and credit over her, right? I mean, it's only "fair".

I get frustrated whenever I see all those BringElsahome people hating in Frozen 2. I don’t think that Frozen 2 destroyed the franchise or ruined the messenge of the original Frozen.
I would recommend blocking them and their tags. They are incredibly vile towards Jen Lee and bully other fans, love to come up with conspiracy theories about the making of F2 or Jen Lee's personal life, and some users within that group have been proven to be racists. They have taken criticism of F2 beyond the realm of opinion and have made it a toxic lifestyle. They're not worth your time.
As for the opinion of F2 ruining the message of Frozen, I don't agree at all. I've heavily followed the creation of Frozen and Frozen 2, up to release. I don't see anything in F2 that warrants that criticism. It is still very much a story about sisters and their connection to each other. Elsa trying to find her purpose and Anna learning to accept change does not negate this.
As for destroying the franchise...there was literally a global pandemic. F2 sales were affected by that, and fans have been leaving because of a lack of content. The same thing happened to Frozen around 2016-2018, with fans leaving because of a dry period before F2 was in full advertisement swing. Not to mention the backlash Olaf's Frozen Adventure got. Did that film ruin the franchise too? Please. Frozen will be just fine.

I watched the frozen 2 docu series and I understand why the movie was a mess. They had to rush production for the movie so it can release in theaters on time. When the first teaser for the movie first came out, they still had issues with the script and was going through many rewrites. It was just pure chaos. I feel so bad for the producers and writers of this movie. They were probably so excited to work on one of the biggest franchises from Disney, only for the production of the movie to be so stressful. I hate to see how frozen 3 production would go.

Frozen 2 really tried to redeem the parents by having iduna being raised in northuldra who was aware and familiar with magic and the elemental spirits when it literally made her and agnaar's actions in the first movie even worse-
These fuckers messed up their daughters idc they did it out of love and fear they're terrible parents

RANT WARNING. These are my opinions, please don’t be assholes.
As much as I say that I think Anna should be the protagonist of Frozen 3, I do also think they should have equal roles, in sort of a F1 situation. My issue is, in my opinion, I don’t think the Frozen writers know how to write a story told from Elsa’s point of view, because Elsa was never initially intended to be the protagonist.
I like Elsa, don’t get me wrong, but as much as Elsa was the main focus in F2, it didn’t really feel like she was the protagonist… alot of the times she felt like more of a background character than she was in F2.
I think they were trying to keep her as the mysterious character she was in F1, while also making her the protagonist, which… can be done, but I think they missed the mark. Also, they try to be ultra cautious with her character, because she’s the popular one, which can’t blame them, but again, it would be easier to do if the story wasn’t told in her pov.
Also, let’s be real, no matter who the protagonist is, we all know who the star of the film will be.

frozen 2 wasn't even good. not even remotely. and i say that as someone who actually quite enjoyed the first one
how do shit movies make so much money
Hey now- Kristoff's "Lost in the Woods" song is a jam and I unironically listen to it while I'm working sometimes
Frozen 2 had potential but dear God you can tell the team was rushed and crunched to HELL and back. There's so many unanswered questions by the end of the film.
--"how do shit movies make so much money"-- you ask this after Top Gun Propaganda was one of the most financially successful movies last year.
