So he does what any emotionally-constipated British man does: he joins a Mixed Martial Arts gym. FTH 2023 Auction Calendar

Welcome to 2023. Fandom Trumps Hate auction turns seven (!!) this year. Like every new year, 2023 is bringing us a lot to be afraid of — but also a lot to be hopeful about, and a lot of good projects worth supporting and fighting for.

We’ll be announcing this year’s list of supported nonprofits in the next couple of days, along with some other organizational business. But for now, we want to share with you the calendar for the 2023 auction.

February 6th: creator signups open

February 19th: creator signups close

February 26th: browsing period begins

March 1st: bidding opens

March 5th: bidding closes

March 12th: proof of high bid donations due

March 17th: proof of 2nd chance donations due

In many respects, the world has gotten better than it was when the original FTH crew teamed up to pull together a benefit auction in 2016, after the election; in other respects, it’s gotten harder and more dangerous.

But if there’s one thing we’ve learned from coming back year after year — and from watching all of you come back for another year of organizing and donating and creating and community-building — it’s that there is always reason to hope, and that it’s always possible to do something concrete and meaningful with that hope.

I have finally finished my second FTH 2023 fic!

The Price we Pay | T | 66k | 37 chapters | complete

Summary: Twelve years after inadvertently stopping Kate Argent from burning the Hale pack alive, Stiles is sleepwalking again, dragged unwillingly to witness horrible accidents, floods, house fires, and other disasters. He wakes, confused and blindfolded, at the incidents with power rising sharp and exhilarating in his chest, and he doesn't know how to stop it. Is he the one causing these horrible things or is he just there to witness them?

Derek has been curious about the magic that saved him and his pack for years, and when Stiles's powers manifest again, he's determined to figure it out. With the whole of Beacon Hills being thrown into chaos and Stiles, apparently, just on the edge of that chaos, Derek finds himself being drawn to fix it all and keep Stiles out of the danger that keeps calling to him.

Amy’s sudden shout of alarm cuts off whatever Zahra was going to say. Alex stares at Amy, uncomprehendingly. His heart is racing, his body already flooding with instinctive fear, brain scrambling to catch up, to process what she said— Cash is at his side between one blink and the next, practically tackling him to the ground and oh— That’s a gunshot.

Yet another gift fic as part of @fandomtrumpshate, this one's a doozy. Loosely inspired by the "In The Shadow of Two Gunmen" episode of The West Wing.

Lost Along the Coast (FTH 2023)

I am joining the end of year rush to post FTH fics! Here is my FTH 2023 fic for @khorazir, who requested a sequel to Blue Plaques that took the boys to a National Trust site outside London. It was so great to revisit this version of John and Sherlock! You don't need to have read (or remember) Blue Plaques to understand this story though. Special thanks to @keirgreeneyes for betaing this work!

Summary: At Mycroft's insistence, John and Sherlock head to Boscastle to investigate a missing woman. But John can't figure out why Mycroft is so personally invested in the case … or why Sherlock seems so taken with the local investigator. Read it here!!!

(~25K words; 4 chapters + a short epilogue; rated T). Will be posting twice a week :)

SH – :More Every Minute: (FTH #3 for @totallysilvergirl) Procreate on iPad Pro

 [...] In Ch. 4 [of my fic Both Sides Now], John unexpectedly announces that after the night they’ve spent TOGETHER together, he has to break up with Mary. Sherlock didn’t see that coming, didn’t dare to hope for it, and flings himself to his knees and embraces John around the waist (John’s sitting in a hotel armchair). They’ve both still got their dyed hair etc. and are wearing white hotel bathrobes.

FINALLY, at zero hour with 2 days to spare, here's pic three of three for my @fandomtrumpshate pieces for 2023! The AMAZING @totallysilvergirl gave me a selection of scenes I could try to draw from their BEAUTIFUL fanfic, Both Sides Now, Of course I chose the HARDEST one to draw because I SUCK at background elements, but I was determined to give them something that would do their story some justice, because it is VERY sweet (the other options probably would have been easier to draw, but this scene specifically made me melt) and I love it!

So yes, this is John and Sherlock, after spending a night together... they're undercover hence why their hairs are different colours, and in the story John has brown contacts as well, but I really wanted to MAKE this John, so decided he took them out LOL (I genuinely don't remember if Silver wrote that he took them out, but they didn't mind I made this creative choice).

As I mentioned, I have a hard time with scenery and such, so I lately try to do things a bit more complex for other people so I can get comfy with doing it. Silver seemed to really like the piece though, despite my reservations about it, so I'm happy that they're happy.

AND I am shocked I got this done on time... I was SO nitpicky with the colours on this one, so I am glad I got it done within deadline of December 31, LOL.

Title is from this beautiful line in the scene being depicted:

John’s moral compass isn’t blind, no, it’s as pragmatic as it is honourable, and Sherlock loves him more every minute, more than he knew he could love anyone, even John.

Everyone please go give Silver's fic Both Sides Now a read, it's really lovely and can be done in one sitting!! It's just a bit over 14K w. <3

It's WIP Wednesday!

Friends. I haven't done one of these in AGES--haven't done writing in ages--for a whole host of reasons that are better left for a different post. But I needed some light, this week, and so I'm sharing this excerpt from the fic I'm writing for the wonderful human @anyawen, who was my highest bidder at the Fandom Trumps Hate auction earlier this year! So here, have a bit from this Benoit Blanc fic. Final version to include antiquities trafficking, Phillip playing in an orchestra, outrageous Southern accents, and a mysterious ex named Ben--but whose ex is he? 👀 Excerpt below the cut:

Benoit Blanc, gentleman detective, had done enough speaking engagements by now to know that when people asked him about his favorite mystery, they were usually angling for a story about a case he’d solved, preferably one with false leads, or surprise endings, or narrow escapes. The more philosophically-minded members of the audience might have accepted the semantic argument that “mysteries” were not necessarily synonymous with “cases”—not always, and maybe even not often. But by and large, Benoit answered the questions as they were intended, rather than as he wanted to, if he’d had his druthers. After all, most audiences would only be disappointed if he told them the truth—that his favorite mysteries were those contained within the human heart.

Take his husband, for example. After four years together, there were still surprises, still small acts of trust, of confidences shared, that opened up whole worlds inside Phillip that Benoit hadn’t known were there. He suspected that he could happily spend his whole life deciphering what made him tick, what made Phillip Phillip. It had been, in no small part, one of the reasons he’d married him.

And even those people whose lives coincided with his for a shorter time, who were destined to pass in and out of his orbit while remaining largely a cipher to him—well, those mysteries left an impression, too, fleeting as they were.

Especially when it seemed that one of them had never deleted his phone number.
