Paul/Chani battle couple falling in love while fighting side by side in a guerrilla war for national liberation felt like a gift to me personally for many reasons but mostly because comrades-to-lovers is SUCH a specific vibe and putting Paul Atreides into that dynamic is so so so so funny

The Onion headline sounds more plausible than NYT headlines that they changed three times when they didn't want to say who bombed the hospital "500 k1llEd, p@LeSt1n1AnS sAy" fuck off
I hope Israel rots in hell

Something I think ought to be more readily-available and encouraged is simply... taking parental classes. I wish it were more common for people to realize just how hard - and important - parenting is, and indeed, that we all could use help with taking care of young folk. It's really alarming that popular opinion is still that parental classes are only for the "fuck-up" parents, or the parents who utterly failed. It should be seen as a good thing to take parental classes - especially on your own volition. It should be seen as imperative for one to take them, it should be a free, accurate, and scheduled occurrence so that people of any background are able to attend.

And twenty years after government officially declared that being trans is not a mental illness, why is trans healthcare still located in NHS mental health trusts instead of in ordinary district general hospitals?

"Sometimes the only choices you have are bad ones, but you still have to choose." - The Doctor
A message for all Americans of voting age: You don't have to like Biden, you don't even have to approve of any of his actions.
But if you choose to protest by NOT VOTING this year, you lose any right to call yourself an ally or progressive.
"But Biden-!" Doesn't fucking matter. If Trump or any Republican candidate wins, not only will the genocide in Gaza continue, but it will get worse. Not only will it get worse, but now the stage will be set for the far-right to install an authoritarian theocracy.
You know what's worse then genocide or an old guy? The fascist hell that the GOP wants to force upon us.
Go read up on Project 2025.
This isn't a game where you can refuse to play until you get a better outcome. You can't protest or petition your way to the perfect candidate. One of these people will be elected whether you vote or not.
There is no way NOT to participate, as not voting for Biden is the same as supporting Trump. (Doesn't matter what you say, that's exactly what it amounts to.)
Neither candidate is good.
YOU STILL HAVE TO CHOOSE.

Thought about turning anon on again just this morning but tbh its probably best to leave them off. I can just hear the people calling me a horrible person for my anger and grief already and I wouldn't be able to keep myself from lashing out at them because I just cannot sterilize my reaction to fucking colonial genocide. And I'm not even fucking Palestinian, I'm just some upstart halfbreed Persian kid safe in his home in america trying to focus on midterms and being unable to because how fucking SURREAL is it that my biggest threat is flunking some arbitrary fucking test when half the world away people are being slaughtered like rats on their own homeland for the crime of just fucking existing and I can't do ANYTHING about it other than watch helplessly and stick with boycotting and sharing aid posts and I KNOW that the people responsible will never face their crimes.
I'm not the one losing my home and watching the place I love get burned to the ground and seeing the people I love be tortured and killed and the animals and the plants that I love destroyed and yet my anger and grief is all-encompassing and horribly choking. I have the fucking luxury of turning away. I can't imagine how it must be to be Palestinian and yet forced to be a sniveling submissive beggar to westerners because people who share your ethnicity dared to make a move to take back their homeland, dared to try to even the decades of suffering and humiliation by even a little bit. How DARE you be angry, when 1,000 settlers have been killed
Anger and grief is not sanitary or rational, it's cruel and ugly and bloody. I just know that when this ''''war'''' ends that people are going to be condemning the survivors for daring to show even the faintest of ugly emotions and it makes me want to puke. I just know that there are people out there who are looking at me with disgust for finally losing my temper and showing what a vitrolic piece of shit I can be when angry- just how terrible will they be to people who actually deserve to be hateful and angry?

People of Gaza are literally leaving their own land and homes on foot so that Israel can take over the land for money, and gas drilling deals and build fckng disneylands or idek whatever and everyone in the world is just watching. They have bombarded Palestinian land into nothingness killed 10k+, forcing thousands away from their homes for $$$. How is the world okay with this???

I wish people could recognize the confirmation bias in “I hate x and now that a vocal member turned out to be a shithead in an unrelated way, this is proof I was right to hate x.” An American trans guy with a decent following had been the target of transphobia and antisemitism for years on here, and then additionally incurred scrutiny (and more transphobia) for his correct takes on gender issues.
When hints at zionism over the years became full-blown platforming of prominent zionists, rather than recognize how disappointing it is for someone who recognizes powers at play and understands complex dynamics w/rt gender to have his head so far up his own ass about zionism, or acknowledge that his genuine victimization allows him to stew in perceived victimization from anti-zionists and we should be mindful of how direct confrontation simply lets him bury himself even deeper in denial, the takeaway of the experience has been, “oh yes, this is why trans guys are evil.”
People who already hated him for shitty reasons have been delighted they are now okay to hate him for good reasons.
He’s a stupid fuckass for not seeing the irony in his own logic, he’s an asshole for his zionism, and he’s an asshole for trying to speak over and attack anti-zionist Jews for saying we don’t agree with him at all. AND transphobes (including other trans people) greenlighting their own anti-transmasculinity because one bigger name is a zionist is your OWN head up your ass behavior and genuine bigotry.
He’s so appalling? You’re right, do better than him. Or does your transphobia cancel out your anti-zionism?

Talking a little bit about 'boycotting Eurovision' under Keep Reading, feel free to scroll down if is not what you want to see.
The most used argument on the matter of banning Israel from Eurovision is the fact that Russia got banned from Eurovision, which is the worst argument anyone could bring.
Kindly reminder that Russia didn't get banned because of the war with Ukraine. Russia got banned because many countries has threatened to withdraw from the competition. Sadly, that's a big difference.
Yes, the countries has threatened to withdraw because they support Ukraine and see Russia as the party in the wrong. That was their reason. EBU's reason for banning Russian was because those countries threatened to withdraw, not because the war was bad and Russia must be stopped.
This situation isn't the same. Why? Because many countries support Israel in their genocide. Because this time around Palestine is the party in the wrong. Because we're taught to believe that Israel isn't in the wrong here.**
Boycotting Eurovision won't work. There are people out there who don't know the truth and want to watch Eurovision. There are people out there who don't care and will watch Eurovision regardless of the situation. There are people out there who, despite having the facts, still don't see Israel as the bad guy in this situation and will watch Eurovision. Sadly, boycotting won't work unless everyone does it.
The only way Israel will get banned, in my opinion, is by going through the same thing as Russia. If other countries threatened to withdraw- and not any countries, but the ones investing the most in Eurovision, then yes. That will get Israel banned.
Otherwise? The only thing we do is hurt artists that don't deserve it. Artists who use Eurovision as a way to get more exposure and experience. Artists who deserve to be heard.
Don't vote for Israel's entry. Don't stream their song either. Heck, turn off the TV when is their turn to perform.
**This whole situation (the war, not Eurovision) isn't only black and white. Civilians die daily because of this, all of them from both sides. Innocent people who has no fault. Let's not forget that
