let's spend the night together from now until forever!
ffxivwrite2022 #09: yawn (of an opening or space) be very large and wide.
lunya and «balefire»—zaya, reese, hanami, rjoli, + more of elie's ocs, endwalker (mare lamentorum arc). 618wc. ⮞ it's called a "sleepover," not a "stay up all night and annoy hanami to death-over"!
Lunya had been sitting on the "finest sleeping module Bestways Burrow had to offer its Etheiryan guests of honor" for all of ten minutes when she decided this was going to be the comfiest bed any of them had ever or would ever sleep on again for the rest of their miserable little mortal lives.
"I need one of these at home," she declared to all and none of her friends scattered across the unending plain of the bed, because surely this delectably soft mattress that was very much designed for an Unsundered and not a Lalafell and her dozen companions made up for the fashion crimes being committed here tonight. Majj, who was already coiled up around her back in the ugliest godsdamned sleep robe she had ever seen and playing with her pigtails, twisted a peach ear to hear her passionate declaration better—as ever her most indulgent supporter. "I'm bringing back a Loporrit."
"No!" squawked Reese at the same time Valdis helpfully chirped a tired, I'll help! from where they were folding everyone's clothes and organizing boots and belts. "Go to bed!"
Nyneve's arm came free of one of her gauntlets with a distinct POP! that had Lumelle and Elwin looking down at the armor in their hands with mild concern. "Can we have a pillow fight first?"
"No," Hanami barked, clearly trying not to pincer her own pillow as she rolled away from them and their growing pile of shucked leathers and steel. She was very small without her usual array of protective pointy bits, which was incredibly cute but in a way that would get Lunya stabbed if she said so out loud and without Ser Aymeric in range. "Go to bed."
"Nyneve, if we have a pillow fight here," Reese reasoned patiently with a little bead of sweat on her forehead that suggested she was very, very afraid, "Lunya is going to cheat by making everyone's pillows weigh like bricks, Wyda will probably demolish someone by blinking at them, Zaya will probably generate so much static that Rjoli and Duscha will turn into pompoms, Myrrh and Valdis will probably set the whole bed aflame, and then Hanami will skewer us with Tehra'ir's daggers. And when we're all dead, Einar and A'dewah will have to sleep on the floor outside because they'll be too scared to come back in and check on us, and the Loporrits will find out and cry."
Majj shook his head, the little pom on the tail of his nightcap smacking Lunya in the eye—"ow," she whined, "Majjie!!!"—"We can't make them cry," he said very solemnly. "I still needta see if they can jump as high as I can."
"Ryne would like the Loporrits," Lunya said as she rubbed her poor eye, and Zaya was a blur of blue as they nodded rapidly in agreement. "We should steal one for her."
Gaia, too, Zaya signed with a little sparkle in their eyes, and Lunya nearly broke her neck energetically nodding back just as fast. Had they been closer together on the massive bed they probably would have high-fived, but Zaya was busy being squashed beneath an already-snoring Duscha and probably wondering when Thancred was going to come back from his stroll around the Burrow.
If Reese were a pufferfish she would have been bloated. "We are not kidnapping any Loporrits!"
"Um, yeah, because it's not kidnapping when they want to go," Lunya sniffed. "You're just mad that me and Growingway have a bond that transcends"—THWACK! went Hanami's punctured pillow into Lunya's face, feathers flying loose when it fell onto the girl's lap—"Hanahana!"
"GO TO BED!"
"But we don't even know how to turn off the lights!"

30: the better path
prompt: splinter || masterpost || other fills || ao3 mirror
word count: 1164
Who’s to say which path is better? Who’s to say that without them Zaya would be here today, standing tall with the eternal winds at their back?
5.3 spoilers, oh my god the image is a spoiler. Please remember to tag w/ spoiler tags if you’re reblobbing! This could also be titled “Elie dives fully into their ‘Everyone Lives’ bullshite and drags many WOLs into it in the process” tbh.
Herein I commit the chronicles of the travelers. Shepherds to the stars in the dark.
...
Atalanta was the worst student Emet-Selch had ever been assigned, truth be told.
He was loathe to admit it in passing—hells, not even Lahabrea knew just how bad they were—but now, in this moment, staring at the multifaceted crystals sitting innocently in the cup of his hands as his would-be student scampers out of the Bureau to Asteria’s calls…
Why did I let Elidibus sway me into this, he thinks, rolling the pile of crystals about in his palm. Not horrible; these were the perfect sort of crystal to hold a variety of concepts, and of different colors rather than the white and orange the Convocation apparently decided a long time ago was standard.
But he had asked for a proper concept of theirs, not some piddly crystals. Atalanta was always too jittery of a student—it was almost like they had too much soul in their body, only contented enough to remain still and listen when surrounded by others. Haik was always his first choice to tug along if Atalanta truly couldn’t sit still; he could have done without the sappiness that came with him, but at the very least he did not try to constantly insult him much like Hecate and Lelantos tried to.
If only he’d asked him to keep watch over Atalanta’s assignment.
He sighs—louder this time, and he can’t even be bothered to care if Hermes hears him from his desk—and carefully shifts the pile of shimmering stones about some more until a crystal of sunset gold shuffles its way to the top. Decently sized, but not large enough by any means to hold any concept much bigger than a desk, perhaps.
Sunset gold, he thinks. Like Asteria’s eyes, Melisseus’ bakery, Hemera’s aether in parts.
Emet-Selch finds himself with a smile, even frustrated as he is with his student’s chaotic attempt to please him once more. Perhaps he can at least get some use out of these.
...
Though the world be sundered and our souls set adrift…
…
He doesn’t remember how long it’s been since he worked on the crystals that now sit idly on a desk in his Amaurot. Whittled them down to shape, not knowing enough of Atalanta’s spontaneous creation habits to unweave the aether and expect them to come out the same crystal and color, and carved sigils into them by hand. Azem’s crystal, ever sunset gold, sits atop the pile, gleaming bright in the teal glow that manages to permeate even the sunless veil of the sea and into the building which he now stands.
Under it, he can see six other familiar sigils, eyes wandering to the one of sapphire blue he buried beneath the rest in his aching.
(Stay home, he remembers telling them. Stay home with Haik today. Just today.)
He quietly walks to the table, eyeing the pile with the crystals he was expected to hand over to Elidibus by the next turn of the sun, wherever he was. The damned moon, probably. Strange man.
(Why? Atalanta looks to him curiously, fluffy locks falling over their eyes, shimmering like the night from afar. There something I shouldn’t be around to hear?)
Something in him keeps him from pouring his aether into the memory crystals and erasing it—surely destroying the last reminders of those he cherished would make their memory fade. Surely he would no longer be haunted by their shades in his waking moments, scheming for their return even as they looked down upon him for it.
(The Convocation has a meeting today, he says calmly. A difficult one; that was not a lie.)
Instead, his hand grasps the seven crystals and tucks them neatly into the pocket lined into his little coat, securing them safely against his heart.
(I do not wish for you to hear how the world is ending, he does not say. Your lightning bright spirit would sputter out if you knew your days were numbered.
And as much as he tried not to get attached to his worst student, he couldn’t.)
...
...where you walk, my friends, fate shall surely follow.
...
Since Temulun Khatun had given them their name, Zaya had wondered how hard it was to escape fate if your name was ‘fate’ itself.
Perhaps it truly was impossible—fate wasn’t something Zaya could tear apart with their hands, after all. The world had always been known to be wicked in its ways, weaving new paths for every change rewritten into the stars; if Zaya did not almost die in Ul’dah’s banquet they would nearly fall to Shinryu’s claw, if they did not tell their feelings in full when they could have they would have come out eventually with the interference of one certain lovely branch.
But on the seafloor of the Tempest, in the walkways of a fading city with a sapphire blue crystal in hand that whispered the same things that Valor did, sometimes, Zaya couldn’t help but think of the times that fate was, perhaps, on their side.
Without Tehra’ir’s intuition and sharp thinking with his sister by his side, Zaya would surely have died to Ilberd’s scheming hands, filled with poison and malice as he threw them into a cart meant for the dead. Without Syhrwyda’s quick hand and taste for primal’s aether, there would have been no Demi-Shiva, no opening for Ysayle to be saved from her choice of death to lead them ever heavensward.
Without Duscha and A’dewah, maybe Papalymo would have disappeared for them just as Louisoix did for them at Carteneau; without Lumelle and Elwin, Ishgard surely would have shunned them for their scales, dark as night and as tough as Dravanians. Without Valdis, would they have even left the streets of Pearl Lane the same, not knowing just how many were out there like them, struggling in a jewel not made for them?
(Without any of them, would Zaya be standing here, in the streets of Emet-Selch’s grief, staring up through that sunless veil and wondering what tomorrow would bring?)
Of course you would, their shadow whispers next to their horn, crystal clear and sharp around the edges where they were once soft-spoken; an after-effect of Minfilia’s last gift to them, surely. Just not the same as you are now, perhaps.
“Zaya?” Tehra’ir calls to them, standing hardly a few yalms away with Lunya looking back by his feet, Hanami and Reese stopped a step or so ahead. “Ye alright there? Yer lookin’ a tad wistful now; don’t tell me yer—”
They immediately raise their hands to deny any sort of sentimentality for Emet-Selch’s city; the spires may be tall and beautiful, but it is a bygone place. A landmark of grief and naught else.
(And yet, and yet, their shadow lingers a moment more when they step in time with their trusted friends and most precious allies. Lingers, then fades, time slipping through their fingers as Zaya walks further and further away.)

Ever After (RCIJ Gift 2018)
Title: Ever After
Author: boushh2187
Fandom/Pairing: Once Upon a Time / Rumbelle
Word Count: 2018
Rated: G
Rumbelle Christmas in July 2018 - Gift for @youcanttellsomeonetoloveyou
Prompt: Rumple and Belle enjoy afterlife
Summary: Rumple and Belle’s happily ever after(life) comes with a surprise or two.
Author’s Notes: To my giftee @youcanttellsomeonetoloveyou I hope you like your gift. I enjoyed working on it! :)
He wouldn’t have believed that he’d succeeded except that she was in his arms once again.
“I knew you’d make it home.”
“Yes.”
She kissed him, and they were bathed in golden light. True love’s kiss, of course. They stood beside the well where they were reunited once before, and where they were once married.
“Now where do we go?” he asked Belle, as he looked at their surroundings. The well was there, but the forest was missing.
She placed her hands on either side of his face, and smiled broadly. “Anywhere we want.”
She took his hand and began to lead him away. “Come. Let me show you!”
And he followed. He would follow her anywhere.
As they moved away from the well, the mist began to grow thicker. For a moment, he thought she would pass through the mist and he’d lose her again, but she kept checking on him. She would flash him a radiant smile and tell him to keep up.
Soon the mist began to clear and the surroundings became somewhat familiar. He couldn’t place it at first, not until he saw the castle just a short walk away. It looked different. It was brighter in color, and the air around it felt more welcoming. The entire space it inhabited seemed to glow with a kind of positive energy. It was completely different from the depressing and violent version he had just left in the Wish Realm, and different to the Dark Castle he remembered in his past. It was as if the love that he and Belle had found there together had transformed it.
“Isn’t it beautiful?” Belle asked him. He nodded in amazement. “Wait until you see the inside.”
The same transformation had taken place indoors. Anything that was once unpleasant was now changed, and what he remembered fondly remained the same. He looked around in amazement, and Belle walked slowly next to him, holding his hand all the while.
It wasn’t long before they reached the Great Room, where he once used to spin, and Belle used to sit and read to him. The long table where she would serve him dinner, and which she eventually shared, was there as well. And so was someone else.
Rumple could make out the figure of a man at the far end. He squinted. For some reason he couldn’t see him clearly at first. Then the man stood up, and Rumple’s vision cleared. “Bae?” The man smiled broadly at him. It was Balefire. His son.
His son made his way toward them, and Belle reached out to him as he neared. He took her hand. Rumple watched as he squeeze her hand. There was a familiarity to their exchange. He supposed they must have interacted in this life many times.
“I do still prefer, Neal,” he said. “But I’ll make an exception for you, Papa.” Neal winked at Belle, and grabbed his father’s shoulder and pulled him into an embrace.
It had been years since Rumple’s heart had felt this full. He held his son close, and he felt Belle gently hug them both.
That is how their eternity together began. Rumplestiltskin and Belle traveled wherever they wanted. No curses. No magic beans. They could take any method they wanted. They could leave Storybrooke in their black Cadillac and drive into any city they wanted, or any realm that they wanted. They could ride on horseback from the Enchanted Forest and straight into Storybrooke. They could take a hot air balloon from the Edge of Realms and arrive in Paris, France. Anything was possible.
Neal would visit them often. Usually he would visit when they were in one of their homes, enjoying the peace and happiness this new life had brought them. He would join them for dinner, or they would go sailing. And sometimes, if the timing was just right they would see their relatives that were still in the land of the living.
They would mostly see Henry and Lucy when Neal was with them. The first time it happened, they were enjoying a bottle of wine together by the fireplace in their Storybrooke home. Neal had cooked dinner for them, and they were relaxing after the meal. Someone mentioned Henry, and suddenly they were there with their family. The three of them were sitting next to Henry, as he and Ella watched Lucy open her Christmas presents.
The first time they saw Gideon was when they were having a picnic outside their home at the Edge of Realms.
Belle wore a floral sundress, a large brimmed hat, and sunglasses the she had brought from Storybrooke. Rumple was always amused at how they could mix and match things from their various travels and multiple residences. She was throwing a ball for Gideon’s childhood dog, Harry, to fetch. The dog had appeared soon after Rumple arrived to this new life. The dog followed them nearly everywhere. He watched as she tossed the ball and coaxed the dog back to her. The fluffy retriever didn’t need much encouragement, but she always called to him happily. He bounded back toward her and in his exuberance he knocked her over. Her hat fell back and she laughed as he stood over her and dropped the ball.
Rumple looked at her adoringly as she gently moved the dog over and sat back up. She caught his gaze and blushed. Rumple stood, picked up the ball and threw it far into the distance. Harry jetted off after it.
“Let me help you, sweetheart.” He offered her his hand, and she took it, standing up and straightening her dress as she did so. He must have still been gazing at her in adoration because she blushed again. “I don’t know how I still get flustered when you look at me like that,” she said, softly.
He pulled her close and smiled at her. “I think it’s because you must be able to read my thoughts,” he said, as he waggled his eyebrows. She slapped his arm, playfully.
He smiled and bent down to kiss her, and when they parted he couldn’t help but gaze at her again. How could he be so lucky to spend all of eternity with her? “Do you know…” he said, with a dramatic pause. Belle looked up at him curiously as he continued, “That you are the most breathtaking sight in all the realms?”
“Even when I’ve been playing with the dog all day?” she teased.
“Even when you were up all night with Gideon crying, or when he had you working on one of his messy, and occasionally explosive, experiments.”
“Even when Gideon and I had to give Harry that bath after that unfortunate meeting with a skunk?
“Even then,” Rumple said, playfull tapping her nose.
Belle laughed and put her head on his shoulder. Together they watched Harry running up towards them.
“Remember when Gideon finally decided on a name for his new puppy?”
Belle nodded and said, “He wanted to name him after a literary character, just like he was named after one. The three of us were reading through Harry Potter.”
“He loved those books,” Rumple said.
“And now, imagine him studying in a place as close to Hogwarts as he could get.”
They both laughed, and in that moment their surroundings changed.
There was Gideon, wearing graduation robes, and accepting an award as he graduated from the Elfame Academy. He was all smiles as he walked towards his classmates. They slapped his shoulders and congratulated him.
Rumple and Belle walked toward their son. They both reached out to touch him, even though they knew they could not. They followed him to the graduation celebration at the school. They both fought happy tears at the sight of him so successful and happy.
They stayed close and whispered in his ear, “We’re proud of you, son.”
They could only hope that he could somehow feel their presence and gain some kind of joy or comfort from it.
Many months later, Rumple walked into their bedroom in the castle to find Belle getting dressed in front of the mirror for their evening out. They’d spent the day relaxing on the castle grounds, after working on Belle’s favorite garden in the morning. This evening they were going to be traveling to New York to go to one of their favorite restaurants and to see a show. Rumple had left the choice up to Belle so it was going to be a surprise to him.
He walked up to her and helped her zip up her dress. “Any hint of where we might be going after dinner?” he asked her.
“To tell you the truth, I haven’t decided yet. You’ll know when I know,” she said, looking over her shoulder at him. She seemed a bit distracted.
“Is something the matter?”
“No… not really. It’s just… Do you ever feel like our son is trying to reach out to us?”
Rumple had to admit that he did feel that way sometimes. He nodded, and rubbed her shoulders gently.
“I feel like I can hear him right now,”Belle said quietly and closed her eyes.
Rumple closed his eyes as well, and listened. He knew it would be a futile exercise, but did so anyway. Any chance to see or hear Gideon would be more than welcome.
“Mother. Father?”
Belle was startled, as was he. Could they really be hearing their son?
“Am I imagining that?” Belle asked, as she looked around.
Rumple turned towards the door. No one was there. Belle looked toward the dresser, and began to look behind it. She opened all of the drawers. “It’s coming from somewhere around here.”
“I hear it too,” Rumple said, as Gideon’s voice continued to call to them.
Then they saw it. The ornate handheld mirror lay face down on the dresser. It’s edges glowed with a faint golden light. Belle snatched it up, and they looked in the mirror together. Gideon’s face was there. He smiled at them.
“It worked!” he shouted. “It really worked!”
“Gideon?” Belle asked. “Is it really you?”
“Yes! I’ve been trying to reach you for ages!” Gideon said with a laugh.
Rumple stood behind Belle and looked at the mirror over her shoulder. “But how is this possible, son?”
“Magic!” Gideon said with a broad grin. “I’ve been researching so many enchantments, spells and potions, and I finally had a breakthrough.”
“Oh Gideon, we miss you so much. We see you sometimes. We know you are doing well,” Belle told him. Rumple could hear the emotion in her voice.
“Are you happy, Mother? Father?”
“Very happy,” they said in unison.
“Don’t worry about us, Gideon,” Rumple said. Live your life. Find your happiness.
“I am, Father! Now I can talk to you too. I can reach you through this mirror. The conditions have to be just right, but you’ll hear from me again. I’ll find Henry and Lucy one day too, and you can see them. Have you found Baelfire? I’m sure Henry would like to see his father.”
“Yes! We see him often.”
“If you could arrange that, it would be wonderful,” Belle told him.
“I have to go, Mother. We’ll have longer to talk next time, I promise.”
“We love you, Gideon!” Belle called out, as Gideon’s face faded from the mirror.
Belle and Rumple’s reflection replaced Gideon’s and they both sighed audibly.
“What a clever boy,” Belle said.
“Well he does take after you,” Rumple said, and she laughed. He put his arms around her waist and leaned his chin on her shoulder as they continued to look at their reflection.
“Now he has a way to contact us, and we can talk to our family. Wait until Neal hears about this.”
Rumple kissed her softly on the cheek. “Now we have something to celebrate in New York. Perhaps we should go dancing instead of the theater?” He twirled her around, and she smiled broadly at him.
“Let’s go!” she said, and took his arm. They were off to New York, via horse and buggy, and their afterlife together couldn’t be more perfect.

Rules and Muses List
Since I’m into rp and all that I’ll make one of these considering some people seem to require others to have one before rping. Also sorry if its messy or bad. I am a very brain to words write . The Rules: 1. If you are a child, I will not do adult content with you, no buts! I do not care for your reason, ain’t happening. 2. No pedophiliac content or anything that will be illegal irl please. I get some people are into like noncon fictional wise, but I am not. 3. Simple RP rules, consent for serious injuries, killing, transformations, etc, you know the deal.
4. Please give me time to rp, as I am in college and all that.
5. I am 21, so we can do 18+ content, but I will either do that in a blockable tag or DMs, if that is okay with you. 6. Romance and all that has to be worked up to, but its totally acceptable. Just ask first. 7. Please inform which muse variant that you wish to rp with.
Muses? If that is what you call the characters you rp as Do note I will use other characters of my AU as well if needed Updated Bio Bits Name: Jack Avalice Body Age: 20 Soul Age: Probably over 500, he lost count Magic: Combo spells and a weaker version of a variety of magic, but is more proficient with healing magic and fire. Fire is balefire, it is green, and does more damage. Note: Copycat is mixed about his age, and tends to go by either age, of either his body, or his soul (chronological) age. Doesn’t have a real knowing of how truly old he is due to all what he remembers. Copycat (can be pre or post war, doesn’t matter): A warm and friendly male wizard, especially to monsters, though there is a coldness given toward humans, which results in a lukewarm attitude to them. He can be regularly found at his workplace which tends to be at a daycare, or his own one, taking care of usually monster children of various ages. Due to his love for children (not the sexually kind, the whole like ‘kids are adorable kind), he enjoys this and does it well due to his experience. Sometimes the children call him as ‘big brother’ or ‘big bro’, which he is fine with. Regarding the past timelines, talking about the past is something he rather not do due to bad memories. When it comes to defending others he tends to be aggressively defensive, and will kill if necessary. But doesn’t want to, he NEVER wanted to do what had to be done. Additionally, he suffers from PTSD, which can be detected early via smell due to chemical changes in the brain. PTSD devolves into weekly or biweekly (as in every one to two weeks) episodes. When an episode happens, his senses are overloaded with the fake signals and cannot really detect anything else; however comfort through ANY means does help.
Uhh, basically the same one on my main post.
Variant One of Copycat- Madman or Waking Daymares(WIP, I dunno, not sure what to do with this one)-Timid, tends to shake, and avoids people (as in humans), but still is friendly with monsters. More so in fact, but seems to be a bit, obsessively defensive over them. Outright cold with other humans and if possible does not do any contact with them. Also mutters a bit to himself, but very quiet, like in whispers. But overall is still like Copycat, and loves children still, just a lot more protective. When it comes to partners he is a lot more obsessive over them, but in a friendly way, and tends to go where they go if he can, as an act of defense. Makes him feel better too, since he knows that they are okay, and aren’t in danger.
PTSD is permeant as words and sometimes images overlay what he sees with sounds effects. Lot more willing to kill humans, but tends to do it out of necessity. Mixed feeling of regret about killing. May SNAP around people, but ALWAYS signals he wants to get away first. Probably still has episodes, I am not sure if they are more or less frequent. And he has an off limits room, but he may open it up to friends, but it is very DO NOT TOUCH. Said room contains dusty memoirs of those who had died permeantly due to the glitching and corrupted AU he came from. He misses them dearly but he has moved on, but just remiscesses about them sometimes.
Honestly I dunno what to do with this guy.
Variant 2 Sol de dem Victus/The Remnant- No matter, he has done, no matter how many times he has tried, he always failed in the end. And he lost everything he cared about...he is the only one left in a glitchy AU. His soul is a colorful mess and his mind is shattered into many pieces. But he manages to keep himself together. This variant will only be rped in other AU's mostly. He tries to keep calm and kind, but its quite different from when. He tends to only dwell within monster populations to try to keep himself calm and collected, well with what is left of him. He thinks his friends are there with him as he can hear their voices still, but perhaps he's just insane. His magic is stronger than other variants due to plenty of experience using them.
If he does see humans he'll be calm, well of sorts, but if they show any signs that might trigger him, he'll do his best to stay calm, although he may kill them with ruthless efficiency. But its not like he truly enjoys it, after all. Someone has to do it, right? An idea I have for this is he'll be like nightmare but he'll go around and collect a few dust! characters before attempting one last one run with his AU, but expect lots of wholesome shit like homecooked meals and patched up clothing and such.

Silver Spirals
I'm rebooting the series after it got wiped. Enjoy.
"There's wyrm scent on the Bawn."
Those few simple words sent everyone into a frenzy, quickly deciding who would guard the Caern while others investigated. Alexander, being a cub, was forced to remain safe in the heart of the Caern under the watchful eye of the Denfather, Tinderwolf and Granny. It reminded him of his first night except this time he was practicing his swordplay instead of getting lessons on the Garou.
Only a few minutes later the group sent to investigate returned with little fanfare. It had been a Black Spiral Dancer but they had left before anyone had gotten there. Seeing as it was safe Alexander requested to be able to go check it out. The Denfather initially refused but his insistance and point that he would know to avoid Black Spirals better if he knew their scent meant he was allowed with the Denparent accompanying him.
That was what had led him to now, frozen in shock and fear. Alexander knew this scent better then any other. It was Gabriel, his lover and secret mate. What in the hell was he doing so close to the Bawn?!
"Alexander?" Billy questioned when the cub tensed up. "Is everything ok?"
"F...fine....It's just the wyrm taint. I don't like it."
"Yeah. Let's head back now." The Denfather turned, missing how Alexander took a few more deep breaths of his mates scent before following.
Once the pair were back inside Alex flipped open the silver sequined journal he always carried to the heavily coded page on the Black Spiral Dancers and Gabriel in particular. He probably knew more about the Dancers then anyone else in his Sept but he had sworn to himself he wouldn't tell anyone. He couldn't, not without putting both Gabriel and himself at great risk.
But why was he at the Bawn?
----
The next few gatherings weren't anything special except at least once a night wyrm scent was discovered on the Bawns edge and once someone even swore they saw a White wolf fleeing. Alexander was growing increasingly concerned. Why was Gabriel doing this? He had to find out!
And so when the next gathering rolled around he waited at the edge of the Bawn, trying to catch him. The Sept was looking into their uninvited vistor and he needed to warn his mate before someone caught him.
A soft chuckle sounded from behind him and he wirled around, face to face with piercing Balefire green eyes. "Hello my little moon, expecting someone~?"
"G-Gabriel!!?" Alexander yelped, steping back only he be caught by a firm hand on his lower back.
"Be careful. You might trip." The Black Spiral Dancers lips quirked up in a small smile. Oh how he loved seeing how flustered his mere presence made the Cub.
Alexander blushed and looked away. "You need to go...they're looking for you." Gabriel shrugged. "You know they won't though. I can't be caught unless I want to be."
The shorter male rolled his eyes at his mates overconfidence. One of these days Gabriel was going to get in trouble he swore. "Please, just go. I don't want them to hurt you."
Gabriel sighed softly and kissed him deeply. Alex was such a worrier. "Fiiiiine." He let him go, stepping back and shifting to Lupus form and taking off.
Alexander sighed in relief and went home instead of heading inside. He didn't feel like explaining the wyrm taint that was likely on him.

ffxivwrite2021 #11: preaching to the choir
⮞ lunya and «balefire»—zaya, reese, hanami, rjoli. 664 words. ⮞ the 7th astral era ⮞ after exploring a dungeon, the gang gets a bit of respite.
preaching to the choir: to try to persuade people who already agree with you.
A blanket of dark clouds choked out the moonlight as they settled on the back porch of Buscarron's Druthers, surrounded by the sound of trickling water, the chirp of crickets, and the not-quite distant bustle of the patrons of the tavern just fulms away. Their main source of light for themselves was an oil lamp, held aloft as the soft swip of a needle swiftly pulling thread joined the midnight chorus.
"You need to take better care of yourself," Lunya grumbled, peering at her work intently in the lamplight. Zaya huffed out a lightning-tingle laugh that shook their entire body, jostling the torn part of their cylcas that she was trying to mend. The only way this could possibly end was with her accidentally jabbing them once or twice, but at least it was the better outcome of their latest foray into Amdapor Keep—if she never got almost crushed to death by wall-shaped voidsent on all four sides ever again, it'd be too soon.
To their credit, Zaya bobbed their head. I do, their sibling said and didn't actually say with one hand holding up the lamp for her. Maybe they meant, Yeah, but I like to punch things and I don't know what the word ranged means, which wasn't a promise of anything except future stitches of both the medical and fashion kind.
"We could say the same for you," Reese reminded her gently from the rocks. The Elezen kept vigil over the dark woods surrounding them, long legs dangling into the creek that ran behind the tavern as her gaze swept over the landscape carefully, pointed ears upright and alert. "For all of us."
There was a scoff as Hanami came around the corner, carrying a set of tankards in one hand and a tray ladened with cheese, sausage, roast beef, and bread in the other. The light of the lantern seemed to linger in between the dawn-white scales of her horns as she left sat cross-legged behind Lunya and Zaya, setting down their dinner by them.
"Wrong," Hanami said. "We do not worry about Rjoli."
"Aw, does that mean you actually worry about the rest of us?" Lunya cooed, cupping her cheeks in her hands and batting her eyelashes at her. In response, Hanami flung a chunk of cheese at the center of her forehead, which Lunya cheerily caught and stuffed into her mouth.
Reese laughed. "You're right, though." Said Hrothgar in question—or Ronso, he called himself, which must have been a regional dialect somewhere. Where, though, they weren't quite sure—was curled up at her side in a huge lump, taking a nap to restore his lost aether from flinging spells at voidsent and keeping the internal organs of the other three tallfolk of their party inside them. Faerie dust sparkled on his shoulders and in his mane, and he seemed content as he snored quietly, tail flicking over the rocks. "He's big and pink. You couldn't lose him in a crowd."
Zaya's nose wrinkled and they set down the lantern to sign.
"Ohhh," Reese said, eyes alight with understanding. "She meant it in the sense that he takes care of himself better than we do ourselves. ...Yeah, we could take a page from Rjoli's book."
"Whh," the Hro-nso whined in his sleep, wrinkling his nose and clutching tighter at the codex he was using as a pillow.
Reese soothingly pat his head. "Not literally."
"There," said Lunya in satisfaction, patting her handiwork with a smile as she finished her sewing. It would be easy to just pull the jagged edges of the tear in Zaya's cyclas into nothingness, but this was a lot more fun—bronze embroidery floss neatly zipped across the gap, dashing into a bolt of lightning by their thigh. "Don't go and undo my hard work by getting banged up again, 'kay?"
"I won't," signed Zaya with a toothy grin, and maybe this time there was a promise of it being for more than the sake of fashion.

make me crash, forget my name
ffxivwrite2020 #24: beam
⮞ lunya/g’raha. krile and «balefire»! 550 words. ⮞ «balefire»’s main street/modern au. title's from sun in our eyes, mø & diplo. ⮞ summer lovin, had me a blast
“a radiant or good-natured look or smile.”
"What if I pretend I don't know how to swim?"
Krile lifted her shades from her nose so G'raha could see her glare, her free hand tensed around her magazine in a sure sign that she was thinking about rolling it up to whack him. "Did you leave your one functioning brain cell on campus or something?"
"I don't know!" her best friend groaned, throwing his hands in the air in defeat as he fell backwards onto the sand. "Maybe she's into men who are stupid! A'satina is!"
"Fair," Sati conceded on Krile's other side, curling up even further beneath Reeses's ratty uni hoodie. Her BLUtooth speaker was planted in the sand next to her chair, cheerily playing old summer tunes over the crash of waves. "But rude."
"You could just, I don't know, hang out with her like a normal person?" Krile pushed her glasses back down and stuck her nose back in her Kigurumi Katalogue issue. "You're already a huge weirdo, why bother pretending?"
G'raha stuck his tongue out at her, though he doubted she was paying attention still. "Thanks."
Down by the water, Lunya clung to Zaya's shoulders, the pair determinedly dodging Rjoli's playful splashing. The sea in Gannet Bay was beautiful, sparkling and warmer than the cold ocean surrounding the Sharlayan isles, but the sight paled in comparison to the small woman laughing in the sunlight, grinning ear to ear as her faithful steed of a friend danced out of the way of the terrible pink beast's aquatic assault. G'raha sighed.
"G'raha Tia," came a curt call. He looked up in time for Hanami to roughly thrust a snow cone in his face, the cold tip just brushing his nose before he snagged it from her. "You are pining."
He bristled. "I'm—"
From where she was handing out Sati and Krile's drinks, Reese looked over worriedly and said, "I thought he was Sharlayan," causing Sati to snort her piña colada out through her nose and onto her borrowed sweatshirt.
"Idiots," Hanami muttered, intensely fond as she pulled a napkin from the pocket of her shorts and dabbed at the juice on Sati's chest. "Go talk to her, dumbass. The beach means her mood is good. You can compliment her swimsuit."
"Whose swimsuit?" chimed a little voice like fairy bells. Lunya gave them a little wave from her perch on Zaya's shoulders as they approached with Rjoli, all three already soaked with saltwater and the Lalafell's violet eyes twinkling while she accepted her soft serve from Hanami.
Very unsubtly, Krile leaned out of her chair to shove her elbow into G'raha's bicep.
"—ack, Krile," he hissed, scrambling for his composure. When Lunya turned her gaze to him, bright with an earnest, adorable curiosity, he could have melted right then and there. "Did you design yours, Lunya? It's really cute." You're really cute is what he didn't say, because just saying this much was making him combust.
G'raha's momentary embarrassment was worth it though because Lunya completely lit up with delight, radiant in a way that he hadn't seen before when the others would compliment her work. If her sunshine smile was at its brightest when she looked only at him for the rest of the afternoon, the others didn't say anything, keeping their knowing laughter among themselves.
