video game scenery: [31/∞] ↳ the korcari wilds ◁ dragon age: origins
“The forest of the legend is, of course, the Korcari Wilds. There are as many legends about the great southern forest as there are shadows, or so the saying goes. The Chasind wilder folk have made their home there since mankind first came to these lands, and the wildlands spread as far into the south as anyone has ventured”. — From Land of the Wilders, by Mother Ailis, Chantry scholar, 9:18 Dragon

Oghren: I came here to join the Grey Wardens, and by the sound of it, you could use me. Where's the giant cup? I'll gargle and spit.
Jaksa: You're not allowed to spit.
Oghren: Heh, heh...that's what I always say!

video game scenery: [30/∞] ↳ ostagar ◁ dragon age: origins
“Ostagar is a ruined fortress in southern Ferelden, on the edge of the Korcari Wilds. Representing the furthest point of encroachment by the ancient Tevinter Imperium into the barbarian lands of the southeast, the fortress was once one of the most important defensive Imperial holdings south of the Waking Sea”.

video game scenery: [20/∞] ↳ the dead trenches ◁ dragon age: origins
“Bownammar, also known as the City of the Dead was once the headquarters of the Legion of the Dead. The fortress was reclaimed by the dwarves and lost again to the darkspawn so many times that even the Memories cannot track it. Eventually it was permanently lost in 9:13 Dragon only with great regret. It is now called the Dead Trenches. Paragon Caridin designed it long ago and it is considered one of the finest works of the dwarves”.

video game scenery: [19/∞] ↳ fort drakon ◁ dragon age: origins
“Fort Drakon is an ancient fortress that predates the city of Denerim and is both the oldest and the tallest structure in the city. The Imperium's mages built a tower rising out of a mountain to symbolize its power. The city of Denerim was built around the tower, and after the Imperium lost control of the region, it passed through the control of different teyrns who ruled the area. It's current name comes from Emperor Drakon, First Emperor of Orlais”.

video game scenery: [17/∞] ↳ elven alienage (denerim) ◁ dragon age: origins
“There have been alienages for as long as elves and shems have lived in the same lands. They say that Val Royeaux has ten thousand elves living in a space no bigger than Denerim's market. Their walls are supposedly so high that daylight doesn't reach the vhenadahl until midday. But don't be so anxious to start tearing down the walls. They keep out more than they keep in. Sometimes a family gets a good break, and they buy a house in the docks, or the outskirts of town. If they're lucky, they come back to the alienage after the looters have burned their house down. We look out for each other. Here, we do what we can to remember the old ways”. — Sarethia, hahren of the Highever alienage

video game scenery: [15/∞] ↳ cadash thaig ◁ dragon age: origins
“Cadash was built upon an ancient settlement called Cad'halash. That settlement was destroyed by Kal-Sharok dwarves when they discovered that it gave shelter to elves fleeing the destruction of Arlathan, as they wanted to cover all evidence of it so as not to jeopardize their alliance with the Tevinter Imperium. The thaig was rebuilt and repopulated, and named Cadash. At some point a huge stone statue was also erected on the highest hill to honor those who had sacrificed their lives to become golems”.

video game scenery: [11/∞] ↳ orzammar ◁ dragon age: origins
"It is an awe-inspiring sight, a great city of stone standing within a vast cavern, poised over a sea of molten lava. There the forges ring loudest, and the finest smiths create works that are the envy of all races. Countless thaigs were lost in the First Blight, when the darkspawn poured out of the Deep Roads like smoke. With each generation, more of the Deep Roads had to be sealed, more thaigs lost forever. Now only Orzammar stands — the last bastion of the dwarven race and its finest creation. According to legend, the thaig's name derives from one of the seven brothers who founded the dwarven empire and his descendants formed the miner caste".

video game scenery: [7/∞] ↳ mountain top ◁ dragon age: origins
"According to writings discovered in Haven, the Disciples of Andraste showed reverence to the dragon, believing it to be the Prophet reborn. The egg clutches and dragonlings of the dragon were afforded great honor, for being "Andraste's" offspring, and were cared for by the cult. The dragon never attacked the cult, being cunning enough to recognize how this arrangement benefited it". — From Before Andrastianism: the Forgotten Faiths by Sister Rondwyn of Tantervale
