A/N: This is set during episode 7.16. What if Matt actually called Gabby like he wanted to after the chaplain left? This is my first time writing Dawsey so please be kind. Hope you enjoy it!
“If you won’t talk to me, talk to someone. Anyone. I promise you, it will help.”
The chaplain’s words echoed in his head as he reached for his phone, only to quickly set it back down on the coffee table as he started to pace back and forth across the living room. There was only one person that Matt wanted to talk to right now, only one person who he knew would be able to help him quiet the racing thoughts that had taken over his mind.
He slowed his steps in front of the coffee table and picked up the phone again, pulling up Gabby’s contact page. His finger hovered over the screen, still unsure about whether or not he should just give in and call her. They hadn’t spoken in months, it wouldn’t be fair to seek her out now just because he needed her. He’d worked so hard to try and move on, he couldn’t just go back now.
He knew he shouldn’t, he knew he had to learn to live without her, but right now none of that seemed to matter. Right now, all he wanted, all he needed was to hear her voice. He quickly hit the call button before he could talk himself out of it.
He held his breath as he waited through one ring then another and one more before the line finally clicked open.
“Hello. Matt? Is everything okay?” her soft slightly groggy voice greeted him and Matt silently cursed himself for not checking the time first.
“Gabby, hi. I’m sorry, I uh…didn’t mean to call so late.”
“No, no it’s fine. Don’t worry about it. Are you alright?” Her voice was much clearer now that she was fully alert and the initial shock was starting to wear off.
The last thing that she had expected was to get a call from Matt. It had been months since they last had any contact. Ever since their divorce had been finalized, it was like they’d just been cut out of each other's lives. She knew that was how divorces usually went, but it still hurt her soul to think that she and Matt would no longer be a part of each other's lives. Even though they had split up before, they had always had work and their friendship to connect them, but now even that seemed to be gone.
“Yeah I’m fine…um everything is alright. I just uh…I just wanted to…” he stammered nervously. Why was this so damn hard? Talking to Gabby used to be the easiest thing in the world and now he could barely get through a sentence without stumbling all over his words.
“Did something happen Matt?” she gently prompted him. It wasn’t like Matt to have so much trouble expressing himself, not with her anyway. Or at least he never used to, but maybe this unusual awkwardness was just another sad part of their new reality.
Matt took a deep breath and sat back down on the couch trying to gather his thoughts.
“We had a tough call last shift,” he started. “It, uh, was a suicide call. We were brought in to assist the police with a forcible entry. The door was barricaded, so they needed us to get them inside. When we were able to get the door open, they went in and the guy was already dead from a gunshot wound.” Matt sighed and took a second to compose himself.
“As we were leaving the house,” he continued. “I heard a noise, so I went back to check and this guy just came out of nowhere. It turns out it was the victim's brother. He had a gun and was just going on about how he made him do it and I was trying to get him to calm down and talk but he wasn’t exactly receptive. We, uh, scuffled a little and he, um, he took a shot at me.”
“What?” Gabby gasped as she immediately switched the call to FaceTime.
Matt winced a little as he quickly accepted the FaceTime call. He should have known she wouldn’t take that part well.
“I’m fine, Gabby. Really.” He said as soon as her face came up on the screen.
“Well, forgive me for needing to see for myself.” Gabby was relieved to see that Matt wasn’t calling her from a hospital bed, so she knew he likely wasn’t hurt. She truly believed in her heart that Matt wouldn’t have kept something like that from her, but she needed to actually see him to reassure herself that he was physically okay.
“And you might not be injured, but that doesn’t mean you’re fine,” she continued. She could see the pain in his eyes. He was obviously struggling with something.
He sighed and looked down. Even after all this time, after everything that had happened between them, she could still see right through him. He looked back up at her and swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat.
“The shot that missed me,” he started, his voice cracking a little as tears started to prick the corner of his eyes. “That was the second time he pulled the trigger. The first time, I was staring down the barrel and the gun jammed.”
Gabby gasped softly and her hand shot up to cover her mouth as she realized just how close to death Matt had come. But she couldn’t let herself fall apart right now, not when Matt needed her. She had to be strong for him. There would be plenty of time for a breakdown later. So she quickly regained her composure, and held his gaze as she waited for him to continue.
“That’s the only reason I’m alive right now. A one in a thousand chance…” he trailed off, still struggling to comprehend how that could have happened. “Why didn’t it go off the first time? How am I still here?” he sighed and shook his head, letting a few tears escape his eyes before roughly wiping them away.
Her heart broke for him. While this certainly wasn’t his first close call, it was obvious that it had shook him to the core. She hated seeing him in so much pain, hated that she couldn’t hold him, comfort him the way she had done so many times in the past.
“Matt, baby,” the term of endearment slipped past her lips before she could stop it. “You can’t think of it like that. The gun jammed because it wasn’t your time.”
“It can’t be that simple, Gabby,” he shot back with exasperation.
“It has to be that simple, Matt,” she replied emphatically. “Otherwise, you’re going to drive yourself crazy trying to find an explanation that just isn’t there. Believe me, I know. I’ve been asking myself the same kind of questions for over four years now.”
Shay’s death wasn’t something she spoke about often, but the truth was that she had never truly been able to shake the guilt that she felt over it. She’d moved on, accepted the fact that she had survived because it hadn’t been her time yet, but that didn’t mean that she wasn’t still plagued by “what ifs”. What if she hadn’t told Shay to switch places with her? What if she’d been able to get to her sooner after the blast? What if she’d never decided to go to the Fire Academy to begin with? It was an albatross she wouldn’t wish on anyone, especially Matt. Matt was kind and caring and devoted to helping others any way he could. He survived because the world needed more people like him.
Matt sighed as he let Gabby’s words sink in. He knew she was right but he couldn’t help the unsettling feelings that had taken hold of him.
“Matt, look at me,” she continued, waiting until his eyes met hers. She could see him retreating into himself, and she needed to be sure he was really listening to her. They locked eyes through the screen and she continued gently, “I know it feels like there should be more to it, but the truth is, you survived because you weren’t meant to die that day. All you can do now is accept that it was a blessing, be grateful for it, and make the most of it. It’s the only way to keep moving forward.”
“Is that what you did? After Shay?” he asked carefully. He knew Gabby didn’t like talking about Shay’s death and he’d never pushed her before, but right now he felt like he really needed to know.
Gabby let out a shaky breath and thought about the best way to answer. Opening up about Shay’s death had always been hard for her, even with Matt. She loved Matt more than anything, but being vulnerable like that had always been a struggle for her. Ever since she was little, whether it was holding her own in a fight with Antonio or going toe to toe with the mean girls in school, Gabby always took pride in being able to take care of herself. She’d always felt that her fierce independence was one of her greatest attributes, but she’d come to realize, maybe a little too late, that it was also her achilles heel. She’d never quite figured out how to strike the balance between allowing herself to be vulnerable without feeling like she was losing herself.
“Not at first,” she confessed quietly. “But eventually, I just had to accept that I’d never be able to explain why I was still here and Shay wasn’t.” Her voice faltered a little as tears sprang to her eyes. She cleared her throat and pressed on. “The only thing that I could do, was make damn sure that I made my time here as meaningful as possible. It’s not always easy, you know. Some days are harder than others, but I figure if I can have a positive impact on the world, then that has to be reason enough. Every save I make, every person I manage to help in some way, is a reminder of that.”
He nodded slowly and gave her a small smile. “Thank you for sharing that. I know how hard it is for you to talk about this stuff.”
“Yeah, well I’m working on it,” she teased with a smirk to try and lighten the mood a bit. “I hope I was able to help a little.”
“You did. More than you know.” He could already feel his anxiety slowly starting to dissipate. There was just something about talking to Gabby that always helped. No matter what was bothering him, no matter what he was going through, she always found a way to make things better.
“Good. I’m glad,” she smiled softly.
“I mean it Gabby, thank you. Thank you for being here for me. It means a lot,” he said gratefully.
“I told you a long time ago, that would never change,” she reminded him. “I meant it. I’ll always be there for you, Matt.”
He gave her a shy smile and looked down a little. He remembered when she made him that promise. They hadn’t even been together yet. He’d thanked her for always being there for him and she just smiled and said “that’ll never change” as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. It wasn’t some big declaration or grand gesture. It was just a fact, plain and simple. But that seemed like a lifetime ago now. Nothing between them was plain or simple anymore. It was messy and complicated, and he still couldn’t wrap his head around how they’d gotten here. How everything had fallen apart so quickly.
He looked up at her, really looked at her for the first time since the call had switched to video. She looked different, but still as breathtaking as ever. She’d cut her hair short, probably in deference to working in the hot Puerto Rican sun all day. It had that tousled freshly washed look and he could almost feel its silky softness under his fingers. He remembered how he used to spend hours running his fingers through her hair, gently lulling her to sleep as she curled up next to him on the couch after a long shift.
Her eyes glistened in the darkened room, and he let himself get lost in them, lost in the rich brown flecked with gold that always spoke volumes to him. He could see hesitation and a flicker of sadness in them now. But there was something else beyond that, something that was just out of reach. He could have sworn it was wistfulness or maybe longing, but he couldn’t quite tell. Whatever it was, it disappeared before he could fully grasp it.
He was staring at her, his piercing blue eyes looking straight through to her soul. Her heartbeat quickened under his intense gaze and all the feelings she’d worked so hard to bury came rushing back. She knew in her heart that she’d never love anyone the way she loved Matt, but life had pulled them in different directions and in the end, they’d both just let go. She’d finally convinced herself that it was probably for the best, but deep down she knew it wasn’t true. All it took was looking into Matt’s eyes to remind her of how much she still loved him. She bit her tongue a little to keep her from telling him that she missed him, that she wished things could be different, that they could work things out. But she knew it wouldn’t be fair to him, and she couldn’t bear the thought of hurting him anymore than she already had. So she quickly tucked all those feelings away, hoping her eyes wouldn’t give her away.
They stayed like that for several more moments, staring into each other's eyes through the screen. Neither knowing what to say next and neither wanting the call to end just yet.
“What the hell are we doing, Gabby?” Matt finally broke the spell.
“What? What are you talking about?” she asked slightly bewildered.
He knew he probably shouldn’t have said anything, should have just let sleeping dogs lie. But he was tired of lying to himself, tired of pretending that he’d moved on , and that’s exactly what he’d been doing: pretending. Because there’s no way that he could ever move on from Gabby, it just wasn’t possible. He knew in his heart that she felt the same way about him. He could see it in her eyes despite her best efforts to hide it.
“When I was staring down the barrel of that gun yesterday, I truly thought that I was about to die and all I could see was your face, all I could think of was how I would never get to see you again,” he revealed, knowing that was a big part of the reason why he’d been feeling so unsettled. “How did we just let it all fall apart?”
Gabby took a deep breath and fought back the tears that were threatening to fall. “You know it’s not that simple, Matt.”
She’d pictured this moment thousands of times in her mind. How she and Matt would somehow find their way back into each other’s lives again. How they could try to find a way past everything that had torn them apart. But she never dared to think that it would actually be possible, that they could ever go back to how things were before.
“Look, I know we have a lot of things to work through. I get that.” He conceded when he saw her hesitation. “But don’t we owe it to ourselves to at least try?”
“You really mean that? Even after everything that’s happened?” she asked, still not quite believing that this was actually happening, that it wasn’t all just a dream.
“It’s the only thing that makes sense, Gabby. That hasn’t changed either,” he smiled as he reminded her of what he told her all those years ago, when he vowed that he would never let her walk out of his life again. He’d failed to keep that promise, but he was more determined than ever to make up for that mistake.
“So what do you have in mind exactly?” she asked, still trying to process what this all meant. How were they even going to do this when they were thousands of miles apart?
“What if we start slow?” he suggested. “Like, maybe I could call you even when I’m not going through an existential crisis?”
“I’d like that,” she admitted with a smile. “And maybe I could call you, just because…”
“I’d really like that too,” he smiled back and felt a rush of relief wash over him. For the first time in months, he finally felt like everything would be okay. He saw her stifle a yawn and realized just how late it was. “It’s getting pretty late. I guess I should let you go and get some rest.”
“Yeah, that’s probably a good idea. I do have a pretty early start tomorrow,” she admitted.
“Well then, that settles it. Time for bed young lady, no arguments,” he playfully scolded her and was rewarded by the sweet sound of her laugh.
“Okay, okay,” she put a hand up in surrender. “I guess we should call it a night. But we’ll talk again soon right?” she asked hopefully.
“Definitely,” he assured her with absolute conviction. They were getting another chance and he wasn’t going to waste it. They would find their way back and come out stronger than ever, he was sure of it.
“Alright then, goodnight Matt.”
“Goodnight Gabby,” he replied softly. “Talk to you later,” he added as he got ready to end the call. It was something he’d taken to saying ever since she’d asked him to never say goodbye to her again.
“Talk to you later.” She returned his promise before reluctantly ending the call with a small wave and a sleepy smile.
Gabby sighed and set her phone back down on the nightstand, still reeling from everything that had just happened. Feelings of relief, gratitude and hope all hit her at once and unleashed the tears she’d been holding back until now. She gently wiped them away as she laid back against the pillows and settled in for what promised to be the most restful night’s sleep she’d had in months. She knew she and Matt had a long road ahead of them, but for the first time in a long time, she truly believed that they would be able to find a way to make it through.
“If you won’t talk to me, talk to someone. Anyone. I promise you, it will help.”
The chaplain’s words echoed in his head as he reached for his phone, only to quickly set it back down on the coffee table as he started to pace back and forth across the living room.

🌌 TOO MANY NIGHTS
synopsis. theodore nott spent too many nights, smoking and hanging out with matt’s little sister to not make her his girlfriend.
notes. theodore nott x riddle!reader. reader is a hufflepuff! pls, let’s pretend you’re 12 when u get to hogwarts xoxo, just for the plot
Tumblr media
theodore nott had always been fascinated by how many differences there were between his best friend mattheo and mattheo’s younger sister. while mattheo wanted to fight anyone, who just scrunched their nose at him, you would rather have your nose broken, so the other person wouldn’t have to go through that pain. while mattheo could be consider as the grumpy (their oldest sibling obviously being the grumpier), you held the tilte of the sunshine.
theo believed it suited you. ever since the three of you were kids, mattheo had his best friend grow protective of you in the same way he had, looking out for you even if you didn’t want it. however, whenever it was nott making your blood boil with some nonsense — you couldn’t get as mad at him as you’d get at your brother. it’s because he’s not my brother, he’s theo, you’d always tell yourself. the truth was that as much as you wanted, you could never be angry with him.
the same thing continued when you started hogwarts. although, you could feel the shifting of your friendship with theo. maybe it all started to happen, because you were growing up, or maybe it was meant to be like that. anyways — you found yourself dreaming of your childhood friend in situations… that made you blush profusely whenever you walked passed him. it was complicating things so much you tried to push it aside, nevertheless to no avail.
“you like him.” a friend of yours joked, when you confessed your thoughts about theo, and… even if gabriela said it in a joking way, you couldn’t help but wonder if she was right.
turns out, she was.
it was all revealed, when another older friend of yours asked you out to the yule ball, and you had to watch theo having fun with daphne greengrass as well as their own group of friends that you weren’t a part of. did it sting? like hell. should’ve you expected it? absolutely. some would say — you should wait for the moment, when he asks you to the ball, but you knew you were just matt’s little sister in his eyes. a mere childhood friend he used to play with when he was younger, though all that ended the second he (and your brother) got his letter, from this moment on theodore nott was a serious, adult man.
few years later, when the slytherins were throwing a party in celebration of mattheo’s eighteen birthday, as his sister, you got an invitation. as much as you loved your brother, you definitely weren’t a big party person — you’d rather spend your time in the smaller group of people, chilling to the muggle music and maybe get high. nonetheless, it was your sibling’s birthday and you wouldn’t hear the end of it if you didn’t show up.
to be fair, matt’s celebration was one of the first slytherin parties you ever attended, and from all the rumors coating its mysterious aura, your expectations were pretty high.
gabriela, the friend of yours, whom you confided in having a small crush on theo, apparently never forgotten that conversation and decided to ‘spice your night a tad’, her exact words. she lent you a fitted, emerald, silky dress that ended slightly above your knee, she did your make up and gave a nose kiss for good luck.
for the first two and a half hour of the party, you couldn’t really catch a glimpse of the boy you were looking for, so your attention were turned towards plan b, which was getting wasted — and maybe meeting someone to get your brother’s best friend off your mind. so as i said, two and a half hour later, you were much more eccentric, bubbly, and definitely more ray of sunshine, caused by the loads of alcohol you put in yourself.
“teddy!” you exclaimed with a grin as you swiftly made your way towards where he was sitting in the corner of the room. a cigarette in his hand, few of his first buttons undone, a smirk lingering on his lips, although it was gone the second he saw you, being replaced with a genuine, but almost unnoticeable smile.
“riddle.” he replied. the corners of his lips went slightly upwards as your hands were wrapped around him, right after you plopped down on the couch next to him. “drunk?” theo asked, his head tilted to the side to get a better view of your flushed face.
“never.” a giggle slipped past your lips. you leaned more on him, serving him another one of your charming beams. “can i have a hypothetical question?”
“hypothetical?” he echoed your words, suppressing a laugh in attempt to not hurt your drunken feelings. “sure, riddle. go on.” nott added upon seing you nod your head.
“could you give me one of your cigarettes?” you grinned once again, putting all effort into a pleading puppy expression you thought you’ve mastered. his answers made you uncertain about your manipulation/daddy’s girl skills.
once again, theodore fought back a chuckle, putting on a teasing smirk. “no.”
“teddy!”
“what? wasn’t it hypothetical?” he snickered, watching you groan theatrically, lowering yourself on the green sofa. it took him a moment to ease your needs and pull out a package of muggle cigarettes that made you raise your eyebrow in curiosity at him. “they’re the best, believe me.” he mumbled with a cigarette in between his lips.
soon after, he tugged you closer after having looked around to see if mattheo was out of sight. as soon as his nerves were settled and your brother was nowhere to be found, theo’s fingers were wrapped around the lighter he bought in second year. the asshole he was, it felt like he was lighting it up for so long you were about to turn eighty. his gaze was instantly focused on your eyes. butterflies were slowly erupting in your stomach with each second he slacked off to light it.
somehow, you two parted your ways few minutes later, ending the sparkling moment between you two with a quick and rash kiss on nott’s cheek, a little too close to his lips for your brother’s liking, too far for yours.
although, the separation didn’t last too long. at least for him, because, when you met him again, you were drunk out of your mind, giggling at every single word someone said to you. good thing theo’s gut feeling told him to look after you.
you were stumbling over your own feet, stuttering at easiest words until you finally landed in paradise— or just his arms. accidentally, but you could cross it out from your checklist, not that you had one.
“hiya.” a soft smile made its way onto your face as he tightened the grip on your waist, not because you smiled so charmingly at him, but also because some older dudes that occupied his previous spot was busy undressing you with their eyes.
if you weren’t mattheo’s little sister, he’d probably try to get you to agree to have a quick round in his round, hell — maybe not even that quick, he could spend an entire night with a girl like you. unfortunately, the reality was different. he could never take an advantage of you, you were too… you and theodore nott liked that too much to just… ruin it.
“what’re you doing?” you asked, frowning as he picked you up and turned towards the staircase. “teddy– put me down, please.” the words left your lips in a slurred manner, but theodore didn’t budge, not even once.
the teenager obeyed your request the moment he walked through the door to his dormitory that was shared with mattheo. theodore sat you on his bed, his green eyes scanning your face intently, while you stiffled a laughter. as a result, you got a confused expression from him. “what?” he asked.
“you’re so pretty.” a soft mumble left your mouth. it had always been hard to catch theodore nott off guard, mostly because he was an intelligent and cunning person, who always noticed the bigger picture, predict the intentions before someone even opened their mouth, yet you did it. if your mind wasn’t so clouded with alcohol, you’d count it as a small win.
anyway, theo didn’t let your words get too much of a hold on him as he silently continued to undress you. as wrong as it sounds, he was doing you a simple favour — nott wanted to bring you comfort and safety, so he dragged you to his dorm and began unzipping your dress, leaving you in your underwear.
it took the boy all the possible strength he had in himself to control all the urges he just felt. it would be so wrong if he got hard just from the mere sight of the goddess sitting in front of him, with pouty lips and a baffled expression caused by his lack of response to her compliment.
“teddy?” you tried getting his attention once again, involuntarily scrapping off the polish of your nails as your eyes rested on his back, watching him shuffle through his closet to find you a comfortable pyjama.
to be fair, theo absolutely loathed the nickname. teddy reminded him of a child he used to be, a child with a loving mother, who would always call him that exact nickname. it wasn’t too much of a hassle, because no one called him that — until you did and it seemed like you couldn’t get rid of it from your vocabulary. somehow, it never bugged him when you did it. the way ‘teddy’ rolled off your tongue always gave him some sort of warm feeling in his stomach.
“mm?” your brother’s best friend muttered, his back still facing you. seconds later, he’s again in front of you, nudging you yet so slightly, so you put your hands above your head. “what is it, y/n/n?” he used the nickname you haven’t heard in a while, causing a literal war in your abdomen.
“could you kiss me?” for barely a second, his brain stopped functioning. he stopped in his tracks, oversized t–shirt still in his hands, all that until he decided to spare your embarrassment the next day and acted like he didn’t just hear what he heard. he was foolish for thinking that a sight of you almost naked and not getting a hard–on was the worst part of his night. now, theodore’s brain was filled with images of you two making out, and… it’s tough.
wordlessly, he finally put the shirt on you, nudging you afterwards, worry was still vividly lingering on his face as he watched you getting comfortable. “i’ll be right here.” nott murmured, grabbing a pillow, laying down on the floor. theo on one side of his bed, the bucket he brought you in case throwing up on the other.
both of you knew that he could go back downstairs, maybe even hook–up with some girl and spend the night at her dorm, just like mattheo did. nevertheless, he stayed there right with you.
it was further in the night, when you woke up and noticed that he still occupied his spot on the floor next to the bed. a pang of guilt hit you (as well as the pounding in your head) as you stared at his peaceful state.
merlin, theodore faustus nott was today times’ adonis and you felt like you could just spend the rest of the night gawking at how insanely beautiful he was. you could barely resist the urge to run your hand through his dark curls.
“you know i can feel you’re staring, riddle?” theo chuckled with his eyes still closed. shit. at least it was dark enough, so he couldn’t see the blush on your cheeks. “somethin’ bothering you?” he asked, giving you a concerned look.
“sleep on the bed, please?” you pleaded. he was about to refuse, when you continued. “i know you don’t want to kiss me, but it breaks my heart seeing you suffer there, when there’s enough room for two people here.” the words coming out of your mouth are quiet. the embarrassment and absurdity of this whole situation got to you — if you just didn’t ask him to kiss you, he’d probably sleep in the bed with you, but you obviously had to ruin it.
“y/n/n, i want to kiss you.” he said, his tone matching yours. “but i can’t, you know it. mattheo would kill me the second he knew.” theo knew he shouldn’t but the urge was too great to resist, so he placed his hands on your knees, reducing the distance between the two of you.
“matt doesn’t have to know.” a whispers left your lips as you leaned an inch closer, brushing the tip of your nose against theo’s. “teddy, please.” you pleaded, staring at him with urgency in your eyes.
it took theodore half a second to consider his options. he could’ve refused and regret it afterwards, but stay alive or he could’ve just kissed you and maybe get into a heated argument with mattheo. so… a voice in his head said fuck it and kissed you with all those feelings he’s had in him.
you could feel your entire world stop the second his lips fell on yours with urgency and passion. it was all you ever dreamed of, he was the guy who was your last thought before sleep and the first after waking up. a silly, childhood crush that developed over the years into… something you couldn’t describe. theodore nott had you wrapped around his finger without even knowing it — if he asked you to jump into a fire pit for a longing glance, you wouldn’t think about it twice and jump.
your fingers were tangled in his curls as he, without breaking the kiss, leaned more towards you, until your back hit the fabric of his sheets. to be completely honest, you felt like your stomach was about to be ripped apart just from the proximity between the two of you.
the kiss lasted way longer than you expected. it could’ve been hours, but you could never been sure. his lips were just inches apart, when he pulled away yet so slighty, letting out a groan as you nudged the tip of your nose again his.
“you don’t even know how much i wanted to do that.” his words were quiet. “matt will kill me, won’t he?” a low chuckle espaced his throat qs you let out a groan in response.
“could you stop mentioning my brother and just kiss me, nott?”

Y/N sighed in relief as she left her last class of the day, closing her eyes momentarily and thanking that classes always ended early on Friday, before walking again, heading towards the Starbucks on the college campus.
A smile spread across her face when she saw her group of friends already waiting for her at their table, Julia already holding her usual, Caramel Machiatto.
"Oi meninas! (Hi girls!)" Y/N spoke with a smile in her voice, pulling out the reserved chair for herself, hanging her bag on the back of it, and sitting on the seat.
"Oi gatinha, como foi Direito Constitucional? (Hi kitty, how was Constitutional Law?)" Gabriela, who sat on her left, asked as Julia passed the drink to Y/N, who thanked her with a wink before taking a sip.
"Foi um porre, o professor adora pegar no meu pé, mas pelo menos eu tirei nota máxima no trabalho. (It was horrible. The teacher loves picking on me, but at least I got a perfect grade on my work.)" Y/N rolled her eyes, snorting at the mention of her teacher.
"Eu sei exatamente o que vai levantar o seu astral. (I know exactly what will lift your spirits.)" Anna, the third and last girl in the group, spoke as she raised her right hand, receiving everyones attention. "Achei um barzinho incrível na Vila Madalena, álcool é a solução pros nossos problemas. (I found an amazing bar in Vila Madalena, alcohol is the solution to our problems.)" She finished, a smile on her face, she was their typical Happy Hour organizer.
Julia and Gabriela smiled equally big, nodding their heads. By Brazilian tradition, Happy Hour always took place on Friday, so they were already looking forward to the idea through all day.
"Bora, amiga? (You coming, bestie?)" Anna turned to Y/N, waiting for confirmation after not seeing her react like she usually did.
"Não vou conseguir, meninas. Vou pra LA hoje. (I can't make it, girls. I'm going to LA today.)" She replied, unable to contain a smile when she mentioned the city.
"Hmm, vai visitar o boy? (Hmm, are you going to visit your boy?)" Julia said with a smile, stirring her drink with the straw.
"Sim, fazem meses que não nos vemos e não aguento mais só falar com ele por Facetime. Comprei passagem para ir hoje, e volto na segunda-feira, infelizmente. Se eu faltar mais uma aula, eu me fodo. (Yes, we haven't seen each other for months, and I can't stand just talking to him on Facetime. I bought a ticket to go today, and I'll be back on Monday, unfortunately. If I miss one more class, I'll get fucked.)" Y/N explained, taking a sip of her drink.
Y/N and Matt met on one of the girl's trips to Los Angeles years ago when she was still in her gap year, she and her parents had a house in the city and always went there on every vacation.
Their first meeting was an unusual one, but it caused the two to exchange numbers, keep contact, and, consequently, fall in love.
Because Y/N is Brazilian, lives with her mother in São Paulo and studies law at Mackenzie, she needed to travel back and forth from Brazil to be able to see her boyfriend in LA, since she wanted to finish her studies in her country.
The two agreed to continue their relationship in a long distance, and surprisingly, they handled that format very well. Their love for each other only intensified every day, and they felt like they fell in love all over again every time they saw each other in person, always reminding themselves that distance gave them a reason to love harder.
"Você vai de carro até o aeroporto? Ou sua mãe vai te levar? (Are you going to drive to the airport? Or is your mom going to take you there?)" Gabriela turned to her, seeing her shake her head.
"Nenhum, eu vou de Uber. O vôo é às 12pm e minha mãe tem plantão no hospital hoje, e eu não quero deixar meu carro no estacionamento do aeroporto. (None, I'm taking an Uber. The flight is at 12 pm, and my mom has a shift at the hospital today, and I don't want to leave my car in the airport parking lot.)"
"Eu te levo, amiga. (I'll take you, babes.)" Julia interrupted. "Depois eu me arrumo e vou direto pro tal bar que a Anna achou. (Then I'll get ready and go straight to that bar that Anna found.)"
༻﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡༺
"Aproveita o seu boy e manda atualizações no grupo, eu quero saber tudo. (Enjoy your boyfriend and send updates to the group, I want to know everything.)" Julia spoke as she closed the trunk of her car, helping Y/N place her bags onto the airport cart.
"Eu prometo que vou atualizar vocês todos os dias. (I promise I'll update you every day.)" Y/N rolled her eyes playfully, smirking. "Obrigada pela carona, amiga. (Thanks for the ride, babes.)" She added, pulling Julia into a tight hug.
"Não precisa agradecer, só mandar o pix. (No need to thank me, just send the pix.)" Julia responded jokingly, laughing when Y/N slapped her arm.
"Idiota. (Jerk.)" Y/N rolled her eyes with a smile on her face, walking up the sidewalk and starting to push the cart with her bags.
"Também te amo! (love you too!)" Julia shouted as she got into her car.
Y/N quickly entered the airport, fishing her phone out of her jeans pocket and unlocking the screen, searching for her flight information. Her eyes read the boarding gate before putting her phone away again and pushing the cart to the check-in counter.
The process didn't take long, and soon, Y/N was able to sit in one of the chairs near her gate, taking out her phone again and unlocking it. Her thumb searched for the messaging app, opening it and seeing some chats with new texts.
The girl ignored all of them, as usual, and clicked on her mom's one, reading the latest texts.
"Honey, Matt sent me a text, he said that you haven't spoken to him all day and he is worried, thinking that you died."
"I said you had a test today at college and you couldn't use your phone during it."
"I think it's a good idea for you to send him a text before he's the one to come to Brazil."
Y/N pressed her lips together, trying to hold back her laughter. They were both so dramatic.
The girl sent her mom a brief text letting her know that she was already at the airport and assuring her that she would talk to Matt.
Her thumb clicked the back button, and her eyes quickly found Matt's chat, seeing 10 new messages and 3 missed calls. Y/N rolled her eyes, not holding back a smile. She understood why he was so worried, since the two of them talked via messages and calls practically all day long, every day, her not sending anything other than a "good morning, my love" was worrying.
But it wasn't her fault that, after class, she had to go home quickly and pack her bags, which she obviously left to pack at the last minute.
Y/N briefly looked at the time, knowing that Los Angeles' time zone was different from Brazil's, before clicking the call button, waiting for her boyfriend to answer.
"Baby?" Matt's voice sounded on the other end.
"Hi my love, I'm sorry for not talking to you today. I had a test this morning, and I couldn't use my phone during it." The girl spoke, persisting in the lie created by her mother, as her eyes traveled across the space in front of her, seeing people walking back and forth with suitcases in their hands.
"It's okay, I was just worried." The boy spoke in a low tone. The sound of objects moving in the background echoed through the line. "How was the test? I'm sure you did well."
"It was-" Y/N looked up at the flight board, seeing that hers was taking off in 20 minutes, meaning they would soon announce it, and the girl would have to board. "It was great, baby. Honey, I need to go now, Julia is here at home doing some college work. I'll call you later. I love you, bye." She spoke quickly, cursing under her breath after hanging up the call.
She knew Matt would be sad about the way she acted, but she hoped that she going to LA would be enough for him to forgive her.
༻﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡༺
The sound of the plane pilot's voice coming through the speaker woke the girl from her sleep. Her eyes opened as her ears picked up the message that the landing would be made in a few minutes.
Y/N straightened up in her seat, her eyes going to the window on her side, seeing that the sky was almost completely dark. She took her jacket out of her purse, wanting to protect her bare arms from the cold of Los Angeles, since in Brazil was 40°C and here would be 9°C. She prepared her body for the thermal shock.
The shudder of the plane warned her that the landing was going to happen, her hands tightly gripping the arm rest as her eyes closed. She hated that feeling.
A few minutes later, passengers were allowed to leave. Y/N got up from her seat and grabbed her purse, following the line of people until she entered the airport. The girl unlocked her phone and saw that it was already 7 pm LA time. Her notification bar was full of messages from Matt, which made her heart sink. She could only imagine the anxiety her boyfriend was feeling.
Her eyes went over the last text he sent 10 minutes ago, warning her that he would film the car video with his brothers in 20 minutes. A smile spread across her face, her plan would work.
༻﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡༺
"Matt, get rid of that ugly face right now." Nick spoke from the backseat, leaning on the side of Chris's seat as he looked at Matt's side profile.
"No can do. He's naturally ugly." Chris said, letting out a laugh followed by a yell when Nick slapped his forehead.
"Shut up, dumbass. we all look the same."
The oldest leaned away at lightning speed when he saw Chris quickly turn around with an angry expression, his right hand raised, ready to hit Nick back.
"Hey, stop!" Matt said, placing his left arm between the two of them.
"Then get rid of that angry face." Nick ordered again, leaning against the sides of the front seats, meeting Matt's eyes in the rearview mirror momentarily.
"He's like this because his little girlfriend has been ignoring him all day." Chris said as he looked at the camera, smiling when he saw Matt cross his arms and sigh deeply.
The two of them didn't know what was going on between Matt and Y/N, or if anything was going on at all, but Matt had been frowning since that morning, walking around the entire house while cleaning up all the messes he put his eyes on.
Nick had asked him what happened at one point in the day, but Matt just said that Y/N was acting weird before turning his back to his brother, going back to cleaning the video game equipment in the living room.
A knock on the window on the passenger side made the boys jump in fright; Nick let out a scream, pushing his own body onto the seat behind Chris's, while Chris bent down and covered his head with his hands, as if that would protect him from whatever that was. Matt turned abruptly towards the door on his side, moving his upper half away from it, almost lying on top of the car console.
It took a few seconds for Matt to register that whoever was knocking on his window was his girlfriend. His blue eyes widened, and his mouth opened in a perfect O, his heart racing a mile a minute as he felt his hands shake slightly.
"Are you really going to leave me standing out here?" Y/N's voice sounded muffled as she took some steps back and smiled, her right hand hidden behind her back.
"Y/N!" Nick shouted, jumping into his usual seat and pulling on his door handle repeatedly while begging Matt to unlock it.
"Y-Y/N?" Matt whispered, still in disbelief, ignoring his brother completely.
"If you don't open that door right now and give your girl a good kiss, I'm going to hit you." Chris spoke after straightening up in his seat, fixing the beanie on his head. "Go!" He spoke loudly, pushing Matt, who seemed to finally wake up from his trance.
The brunette's right hand flew to the button to unlock the doors, clicking there before pulling the handle, opening his door with a thud.
Matt had never gotten out of his car so fast, his feet running a few steps until he reached Y/N, pulling her into his arms in a tight hug, lifting her a few inches off the ground and spinning her in the air, a loud laugh escaping his mouth as he closed his eyes, praying in his mind that this wasn't just a dream, but that if it was, that he never had to wake up again.
"Baby, I... you..." Matt pulled away slightly, shaking his head as he tried to process that his girlfriend was actually there, right in front of him. His blue eyes ran over Y/N's face and body, recording her image in his mind, despite already having it drawn, painted, and stuck in his soul. "You are here." He whispered, his eyes burning with tears.
"I'm here, baby." Y/N spoke in the same tone. "Oh my love, don't cry." Her eyes filled with tears as well, and a laugh escaped her lips. God, she loved him so much.
"So that's why you were ignoring me." Matt sniffled. His right hand went up to his face, passing them over his eyes, trying to stop the tears from falling.
"I'm sorry, sweetheart. I had to stop answering you for a while so I could prepare this surprise." She spoke, feeling her heart racing and butterflies in her stomach from the look in Matt's eyes. He looked so amazed. "But I have a present for you, as an apology." Y/N said slowly before taking her hand away from her back, showing the prettiest bouquet of tulips.
"Oh my-" Matt's eyes were wide, and his mouth was open, his heart freezing for a few seconds before speeding up like never before. Tears escaped his eyes without him even feeling them, while his cheeks burned with adrenaline. "This is for me?" He asked, perplexed.
"Of course, meu amor (my love). I saw it on the way here, and I thought: "Why not buy beautiful flowers for the prettiest boy in the world?"" She said softly, her eyes scanning his reactions closely.
"Thank you so much. I've never received flowers before." He sniffed, taking the bouquet delicately, as if any sudden movement could destroy it.
"They are so beautiful together." Chris commented a little away from them, his eyes also filled with tears. What they said was real. When a triplet cries, the other two cries as well.
Nick, who was next to Chris, nodded, a giant smile decorating his face as his hands held the camera, the lens focused on the couple, capturing the cute moment.
"This is true love, Y/N came all the way from Brazil just to see this idiot, and she brought flowers!" Chris continued to Nick in a low tone, not wanting to disturb the couple.
"At least now he'll be able to film today's video properly. He was worse than Grumpy from Snow White." The oldest triplet muttered from behind the camera loud enough for Matt to hear, letting out a laugh at the dirty look he gave him.
"Yes, but he's my Grumpy." Y/N spoke up, receiving grunts of disgust from Chris and Nick and a laugh from Matt.
The brunette took his free hand to Y/N's cheeks, pulling her lightly for a kiss, the first of that night. A contented sigh escaped the girl's mouth, who instantly relaxed and brought her hands to Matt's covered waist, squeezing the hoodie over her fingers while feeling like fireworks exploded inside her.
"Ew guys, that's enough love for one night." Chris said, covering his and Nick's eyes playfully.
Y/N pulled away from Matt, unable to contain her laughter, finally turning to the other two brothers.
"I think you have a video to film, don't you?" She asked wryly, smirking as she saw Chris roll his eyes and raise his arms in surrender, as if he hadn't been crying just seconds ago.
Nick turned, walking back to the car to put the camera in its place, and Chris followed, getting into the back seat next to the one Nick sits.
"I'll demand my hug later, Y/N." Nick shouted from inside the driver seat, trying to balance himself on it as he fiddled with the camera's focus.
"What do you think about being our guest on today's video?" Matt hugged her from behind, securely holding the bouquet, while resting his head in the crook of Y/N's neck, breathing in the scent of his girlfriend's perfume that he missed so much.
The girl smiled, even though he couldn't see it, stroking his left hand that rested on her waist while nodding her head.
Their fans would go crazy.

A/N: Hi guys this is an original imagine based on Chicago Fire, Season 5 Episode 7. I hope everyone is safe, and this is of everyones liking.
Don't be afraid to leave your comment!
---------
Today was a very special day for your parents. The thing is you were adopted when you were 7 years old by the Dawson’s, your siblings Antonio and Gabriela didn’t really see a difference in not being blood related to you -you were their little sister plain and simple-. What makes today so special? Well today was Ramon and Camila’s 40th anniversary.
Your mom -Camila- has always been your rock since the very beginning, while your dad always saw you differently. Always treated you like a stranger, never gave a crap about you, always made sure you knew you weren’t family -not totally at least-. He took every opportunity to make sure everyone knew it wasn’t his decision to make you part of his family. So, while today was a special day for them it would mean that you would have to listen to the comments.
Even more so now that you had gotten married and didn’t tell anyone but Camila and your siblings. You had met Jay through Antonio -one night at Molly’s- over 2 years ago. Got engaged at your one-year anniversary and 3 months ago you both eloped and got married.
You were finishing your make up in your bedroom on the apartment you shared, you were wearing a thin strap royal blue dress. You were so engrossed on making sure you looked okay that you failed to hear the front door and the steps towards your bedroom. Just then you heard a whistle making you jump and turn around to be met with your husband leaning against the door while he admired you -heart eyes and all-.
“Damn…how did I get so lucky?” he whispered stepping towards you with slow steps. He looked so much handsome when he wore suits, you always thought they made his eyes pop. You giggled in response looking up at him when he took the last step.
“You look…wow…so…godamn beautiful!” he exclaimed the last part picking you up slightly, hand around your waist while you wrapped your arms around his neck biting your lip.
“Stop it, Jay” you said between laughter as he twirl you around, “What. I can’t compliment my gorgeous wife, huh, Mrs. Halstead” he said putting you down, arms still around your waist. He leaned in so he could kiss the hell out of you. Pulling away,
“Tonight- is going to be…” “Weird?” he completed making you nod putting your head down. You knew it would turn into a big deal; Ramon always behind it. You loved Camila to death, she was your mom, period. But there wasn’t much she could do when Ramon gets involved, like a good wife she would obey and stay silent.
Most of the time your siblings were the ones to stand up for you. You were too respectful to say something, you knew would come out very, very bad. Just when your thoughts were running wild, you felt Jay’s hand on the back of your neck raising your head, looking at you like you were the sun.
“Hey- everything will be fine. We’re going to be fine” hand still on your face, you nodded line tight smile on your lips.
Arriving at the anniversary venue, Jay claimed out of his truck going around to help you out. Taking a good look up and down your figure, while he smirked shaking his head. He was head over heels for you, and he loved to make sure you knew. Hand in hand you entered, immediately noticing your siblings with their respective partners. You felt nervous, which made you get closer to Jay hugging on to his bicep which made him turn slightly to kiss your head.
“Hey, hey, hey. There she is!” Gabby said smirking at you, making the others laugh.
“Hey sis. Se ven muy lindas, eh!” ‘You both look pretty’. You said while you hugged her tightly, she returning it -knowing how you felt-, saying hello to Matt and Silvie. The latter looking at you expectant,
“She said we both look very pretty” Gabby interjected translating to Silvie, who smiled and thanked you,
“Hola cariño. Te vez preciosa” ‘Hi darling, you look beautiful’. Antonio was next, making you blush and smile before you hugged him, kissing the side of your head.
“I’m still learning people! But I can understand what she says when she’s pissed. It turns clear as day” Jay joked making the others laugh, with you bumped him slightly. Him smirking and throwing you a wink.
“Looking good Halstead” Matt said, “Well thank you. Have to make a good impression” which made Antonio roll his eyes.
“You don’t need to. You already got our blessing, you don’t need anything else” Antonio continued, pointing at him and Gabby. This made the girls -awe- mockingly, while the men -well they played tough men-. After a moment of silence,
“Hey, Y/N so I was asking Gabby if mom called her. She called me but when I called her back, she didn’t answer. Did mom call you?” you furrowed your eyebrows before shaking your head. He sighed, so you continued,
“Maybe she’s nervous. You know big night, lots of people. Prodigal daughter making an appearance, since the 30th anniversary” you said jokingly to what both your siblings snickered.  Just then you heard the voice of you adoptive father, announcing it was staring.
“I’m right here…I love you” “I love you too. Thank you.” you sighed, him pulling you by the waist while you walked to your sits -drinks in hand-. Man, how you wanted to drown this drink in one sip and get it over with.
“All right, settle in everyone…” Ramon continued, while you looked over to your mom who was sending a kiss to Gabby. Before she looked over at you smiling even bigger -she was happy to see you, it had been a couple of weeks since she has seen you, for everyone else, more than enough-. Then she raised her eyebrows teasingly at Jay, you chuckled before mouthing ‘I love you mama’.
What you failed to noticed was the look Ramon send your way, something Jay saw making him put a hand on your thigh, throwing a glare to Ramon. You looked over at him before leaning to give him a kiss. You don’t know how much time had passed when you heard your mom’s voice calling Ramon in a warning way, which made you look. Instantly taking notice of your siblings confused faces and Camila’s fake smile. You furrowed your eyebrows confused as everyone around you.
“Camila and I…are getting divorced” gasps could be heard along the crowd, your head snapped to Antonio who looked like he was ready to kill his father.
“…it was a mutual decision” “It was not!” Camila encountered back, “More or less” Ramon continued.
“What’s going on?” you asked looking at Jay, who turned to look at you wide eyes, shaking his head letting you know he had no idea.
“What the hell is going on?” Antonio asked, rage in his eyes, “Just take it easy Antonio” “Easy…You’re embarrassing yourself…” “You’re embarrassing mom!” you exclaimed adding to Antonio’s words.
“She’s not your mother so spare me the lecture, kid” Ramon said sending an angry look your way,
“Hey!” Jay exclaimed standing up, your hand in his, Antonio following,
“Party is over. Everyone get out, so I can talk some sense into my father, who seems to had lost his mind” your brother screamed walking towards Ramon,
“Look at ma. Apologize to her. Apologize to Y/N!” Antonio continued, getting closer and closer to his father, which made both Jay and Matt hurry towards him. You were frozen, you felt like you were dreaming, and someone would come up to you to wake you up. But it wasn’t. You didn’t have a connection with Ramon but as a good sister you didn’t want Antonio nor Gabby to go through this.
“I apologize for nothing!” Ramon exclaimed -Camila had left, no one could really blame her-. This night couldn’t get any worse -oh but it could-.
Everyone was pretty much gone by now, it was just Ramon, Antonio, Silvie, Gabby, Matt, Jay and you, Antonio was going to knock some sense into him one way or another. You saw as Antonio reach forward to fight his father while some of your uncles held Ramon; Jay and Matt held Antonio.
“Get out, this is a family matter!” he pointed at where you were standing,
“I AM FAMILY” you screamed at him, pointing back at him, “NO, YOU’RE NOT” he screamed back.
“Just because you choose to ignore it, doesn’t mean others need to. You are the only blind person in here! Blood doesn’t make you family, Ramon. Because I would be damned if I was related to someone like YOU! I don’t need your empty apologies. Time will run out and you will be left with nothing but misery and loneliness. JUST BECAUSE I’M NOT YOUR BLOOD IT DOESN’T GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO TREAT ME LIKE SHIT” you screamed back. Everyone looking between you two -frozen-, tears in your eyes that you refuse to let out. Surprising everyone by snapping. It wasn’t like you to get into a screaming match, but you were so damn tired.
“You’re nobody to me, never have been, never will be!” pointing to you. You put your head down so no one could see you crying, Gabby reaching for your hand, you immediately pulled away, rushing out of the room Gabby and Silvie following behind.
“You don’t need to repeat it, you know! You’ve said it enough times already!” Jay snaped back, making Ramon’s gaze fall on him.
“Who do you think you are kid” “I’M HER HUSBAND. THAT’S WHO I AM!” your husband screamed; face stone cold. Ramon’s face falling slightly -not even noticeable-. Pretty much everyone was screaming at this point -furious was an understatement-.
“You have no idea who she is. You know… you deserve everything you just got. Don’t. Ever! Talk to my wife again, you hear me!” Jay continued pointing at Ramon -anger all over his face-. Antonio putting a hand on Jay’s shoulder -letting him know he was right-.
“Jay. Got get my sister. We’re leaving!” Antonio said, giving his father one last look, before shaking his head laughing humorlessly, the last of your group pilling out looking for their girls.
Jay had found you outside by the side door of the venue, crying silently -and freezing like crazy-. You felt something being draped on your shoulders making you jump,
“Hey- it’s just me” this made you turn around hands going around his torso while you cried in his chest. Jay could do nothing but hold you tightly while whispering sweet things in your ear and giving you little kisses, -what a fucked-up way to treat such an amazing and sweet woman- he thought.
Your sniffs and sobs making him more angry, closing his eyes and running his hand through your hair,
“I spend my whole life trying to please him. Trying to make him love me, and he can’t even see it…” “I got you let it out…” he whispered in your ear again.
“I- I remember how different he treated me compared to my siblings. He used to go to Gabby’s ballet lessons, and he would go watch Antonio box…and I was just there, but I wasn’t…He’s the reason I question myself if I deserve love…you have no idea how much that fucked me up!” you sobbed, getting out of Jay’s hold.
“I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHO I AM!” screaming then shaking your head, and looking at Jay, who could only look at you pained expression on his face. He hated seeing you like this, he promised himself that he would never let you feel this way, now here you both were.
“I hate myself so much…and it’s all his fault…” you whispered covering your face with your hands. While his cradled you back into his arms rocking you side to side.
“I love you beautiful. I know you…” he whispered, which made you shake your head against his chest.
“Yeah, I do. You are the hottest woman I have ever met…” he joked making you huffed a tiny laugh,
“I know who you are…you are Y/N Halstead, my wife, and the love of my life. Don’t let him get you. I. Love. You. You really think I would marry you if you didn’t deserve love. Baby you deserve the fucking moon, I would turn into an astronaut if I could…” he exaggerated, talking with his hands -you knew it was his way of keeping your mind of things-
“A little late for that…” you whispered, “Fuck yeah!” he exclaimed making you snicker, your face still on his chest.
“You made this badass former ranger fall at your knees. All because of that karaoke night at Molly’s…” he joked, both of you laughing at the memory.
He looked down at you, smiling with so much love, reassuring you of your right to love and BE loved.
“Hey-What he says is…” “Bullshit…” you completed making him chuckle brushing your tears away, leaning down to kiss you deeply. Just bullshit…

~*~this feels so right, it can’t be wrong as far as i can see~*~
a/n: my very good friend @lovelymary wanted my version of the brettonio and dawsey double date in episode seven of season five, so here it is. the lyrics and title come from "stay here forever" by jewel. this is basically before the date, the date and then after the date for both couples.
~*~this feels so right, it can be wrong so far as i can see~*~
pairing [s]: antonio dawson x sylvie brett and matthew casey x gabriela dawson
summary: double dating wasn't out of the realm of possibility when you were dating your partner's brother, but sylvie never expected her feelings for antonio to hit her so hard and so fast and for them to be so obvious to gabby and casey
rating: t
it's a big world
for a boy and a girl
letting go of it all
holding onto one another
"stay here forever" - by jewel
"You know," Gabby's tone was sly, her eyes sparkling and Matt knew he should brace himself for her next words, especially since he found his lap full of her petite body, her arms draped around his neck. Thankfully the blinds to his office were closed. He didn't need any grief from Severide about quickies at work and how he can't do the same with Kidd in his own office. "Sylvie and Antonio seem pretty steady," She observed, tracing the planes of his chest through his collared CFD shirt.
Matt was happy for Gabby's brother, he really was. He had come to consider Antonio a friend and not just his fiance's brother and an ally with the CPD. That didn't mean he wanted to hear about his relationship with one of his co-workers.
He felt his body relax as Gabby began to press kisses, soft but full of heat, against his jaw and he knew she was buttering him up for whatever she was about to tell him. He, however, wasn't going to complain as his own hands sunk into her thick glossy chocolate hair to anchor her lips to his skin.
"I was thinking," She murmured, her voice breathless and warm, making him groan. "We all happen to have off the Wednesday before my parents' big bash on Saturday, sooooo what if we did something together? Like grab dinner, dessert and we could dance too? You need all the practice you can get before you walk into that ballroom full of at least a hundred or so Latinos and Latinas, baby,"
"Are you saying I can't dance?" He joked, stroking her soft cheek with his thumb. "That's not what I said. I said you need practice. There's a difference," She laughed, unable to keep a straight face. "Just for that I should put you on hose duty," He remarked. "But because I know I can't say no to you about anything, we can double date with your brother and Brett. I get to pick the restaurant, though."
"You drive a hard bargain, Lieutenant. Buuuuut I bet I can change your mind."
A searing kiss was pressed to Matt's lips and then Gabby had thrown her shirt over her head, leaving her in a lace bra he definitely would have remembered. Suddenly picking the restaurant wasn't as important.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
You and Sylvie, me and Matt at Lakeshore's Wednesday night at 7 don't be late big brother I know where you live
Antonio shook his head as he saw the incoming text from Gabby. Double dating with his younger sister was always interesting to say the least. She was very protective of him, despite being the younger sibling. It took her years to warm up to Laura who had confessed to him on numerous occasions throughout their marriage, she still wasn't sure if Gabby liked her. But he was just as culpable, unable to turn off his cops instincts, which led him to chasing off a few of Gabby's boyfriends.
This was different. He'd known Matt for years now. Hell, the guy came to him to ask for the family's permission to marry Gabby. He was good people. And it wasn't like Sylvie was a stranger. But he knew Gabby wanted to see them interact together, to see neither of them was jumping into something they weren't prepared for.
It was silly he was a grown man in his 40s with two teenagers, but Sylvie made him feel like he was as much of a teenager as Eva and Diego actually were. With Laura things had burned hot and fast, then settled into a typically suburban life once he made detective. He couldn't remember the women, girls really, before her except for Angel Ramirez who went to high school with Gabby and Deana Cruz who was his first everything. So dating was new to him, honestly, and Sylvie's infectious energy had worn off on him.
"You have a visitor, Rico Suave," Came Platt's dry tone, drawing him out of his thoughts. Sylvie jauntily waved from behind the austere sargeant, her blue eyes as bright as her smile. Seeing her familiar blinding smile, he couldn't stop his lips from curving into one of their own, even as Ruzek cat called and Atwater remarked, "Bow chicka wow wow,"
"Aren't you a sight for sore eyes, Sylvie Brett," Antonio mused, drawing her lithe frame into his strong frame. "Keep it PG you're on city property," Platt's tone was droll as she rolled her eyes while the detective drew the medic in for a soft kiss.
"I probably should have called ahead or at least texted. I just realized I don't know exactly when you guys take a lunch or a break," She was sheepish, peering at him through her velvet lashes. "Whenever we can," Antonio was honest. "It's rare we go to lunch at the same time twice in the same month. Lucky for you I haven't taken mine yet." He winked and she flushed, showing him the familiar brown paper bag from Lucky's.
"Lucky's?" Jay groaned from his desk. "That is not fair. Hey," He called to Erin across the bullpen. "Why don't you ever bring me a sandwich from Lucky's. I would bring you one."
"You lie," Erin rolled her eyes. "You insist we go dutch over stakeout snacks because you're a cheapskate, Halstead."
"No, I insist we go dutch on stakeout snacks because I respect you as a woman, Erin Lindsay. You wouldn't want a man to pay your way and I'm honoring that. I'm a feminist."
Antonio soaked in Sylvie's warm bubbly laughter as he guided her into the little kitchenette while Jay and Erin continued their playful squabble as Ruzek and Atwater decided between Lou Malnati's or Weiner Circle for their lunch.

~*~and you can keep up all the chatter bout my happy ever after~*~
(cause all that really matters is he's mine)
pairing: erik johnson x oc
summary: isabel ramos has always tried to keep her private life away from the white hot glare of the spotlight, but with a man like erik johnson on her arm, how can she not brag
rating: t
[red carpet debut]
he ain't from round
this side of town
but he fits into every crowd
and he knows just how to do my body and my heart right
At this point red carpets - for vanity liquor launches, for the latest Netflix drama or superhero tentpole flick to even the Oscars - Isabel had been there and done that. She knew what to expect; the white hot glare from all of the lights, the constant flashes of hundreds of cameras, forty different people shouting her name and of course the dozens of interviews from various entertainment news outlets.
Tonight - walking the white (pun intended) carpet - for the second season premiere of HBO Max's newest crown jewel in White Lotus would be just a little different. She wouldn't be walking the carpet alone. She knew everyone was gossiping about her and her co-star, the handsome British actor, Theo James, but tonight she was putting those rumors to bed for good.
Guiding her down the carpet for the first time was going to be her husband (yes, husband you read that right) Colorado Avalanche stalwart defenseman, Erik Johnson. Her lips couldn't help but curl proudly as her long time makeup artist worked her magic. Keeping things private was never easy, not even Ben and Jen had managed to keep their wedding reception from leaking. But Erik's teammates were sweet in respecting their wishes and her friends were all too familiar with things getting out to the public before you wanted them to.
She touched the four point five karat sapphire ring on her finger, her heart picking up speed while butterflies erupted in her stomach. She had done this a hundred times - since she was sixteen and had broken out on the soap opera General Hospital, playing mobster Sonny Corinthos's headstrong daughter whose mother was his former lover and attorney, Alexis Davis - but this was truly different. Even though she had walked carpets with her exes and flings and everything in between, Erik wasn't them. He was everything she had hoped and dreamed of as a girl watching every rom com she could get her hands on.
Slipping her wedding ring from her left ring finger to her right, she laughed softly. There were still some things they wanted to keep for themselves.
"Hola, esposa," Erik's jumbled Spanish made Isabel smile, her own dimples appearing to match his. "Nice try, Blanquito," Her voice was soft and placating but Erik took it in stride, her teasing making his stomach tumble like only she could.
Growing up with Brazilian parents, Isabel learned Spanish before she learned English and could speak conversational Portuguese as well. Erik was trying his hand at Spanish and more often than not he mostly succeeded in making her laugh as he asked why she couldn't just teach him the naughty words.
Once her makeup was finished, he let out a whistle at seeing her full white carpet look. A summery silk maxi dress in a deep green with a plunging neckline and silvery strappy heels while her velvet black hair was twisted into an elaborate braid crown gave her the glam of the star she was and kept with the show's luxury resort theme. It was hard to believe she was his. He was just a hockey player, a Minnesotan born and bred raised in his small town that somehow made it to the league, forget being drafted number one overall and now winning the Cup.
Their first night, the thin Mountain air around them, her sneaking into Denver on a private flight in the wee hours (Erik knew it wasn't his best display of leadership but fuck it, Isabel was too good to be true) on a game day, she told him - their bodies plastered together, sticky with sweat, that's what she liked most about him. That he was the small town boy who made good. It reminded her that she was a small town girl, having left her Brazilian tropical life behind, for a brighter future in the States, her parents wanting to give her everything they never had. That she was just Isabel. Not this international celebrity, a point of fascination for strangers, but a girl who ached for love like any normal person would.
Everything was dimmer with Erik on her arm - the white hot glare warm instead of intense, the shouting not as invasive - except her smile. She knew it was blinding as they posed, his large hand on the small of her back. She missed the cool metal of his ring against her skin but she would make do. No one needed to know everything about her.
The headlines from The Cut to Duemoix to TMZ came fast and furious once they were at the after party at Balthazar with the rest of the cast and director and creator, Mike White.

Reunion - Erin Lindsay x Platonic!Reader
Request:  Oooo can you write an Erin Lindsay and reader where they knew each other from erins past and reader is clean and working at the fire house.
Platonic friends to reader telling Erin she’s always had a crush on her but was afraid cause Erin got clean and reader couldn’t.
Warning: mentions of domestic violence and abuse, drug abuse, addiction, near death experiences, death of a beloved character.
You’d known Erin Lindsay from when you were eight to when she was fifteen years old and you were thirteen. Whilst Erin’s mother was an addict and her step-father was abusive, you lived in a different situation across the street.
Voight once said that everyone knew Erin’s mother, Bunny, even before Erin was born. But Voight also knew your family based on the domestic calls and noise complaints that had started when you were six.
Your family were angry drunks who would take out their rage on you, the only child after your older brother ran away, leaving you behind.
The verbal abuse turned to beatings when you were nine and you were homeless at thirteen before the police caught you and took you back to your parents. DCFS had failed you so you resorted to painkillers to cope with the pain. Physical and mental.
It wasn’t until you were fifteen that something changed. Erin had disappeared after a run-in with the police when she was fifteen. Someone saved her life. Detective Hank Voight.
You didn’t know that Erin had told Hank all about you until he turned up responding to a 911 call at your family house.
Voight found you beaten in the basement, struggling to move but trying to find more painkillers and gauze.
Months of hospitals, rehab and a foster home later, you lost contact with Erin and Voight’s check-ins stopped.
You were nineteen when you applied for the fire academy and were a candidate on another firehouse. Eventually you transferred to Firehouse 51 before Otis and Mills.
You were twenty six when you saw Erin again.
Well, Erin saw you first as you were washing Truck 81, laughing at something Shay had said when you heard a whistle.
“Damn, it has been a while, S/n.”
Your frown melted off your face as you recognised who was standing infront of you, even if it had been thirteen years.
You missed the raised eyebrow that Shay gave Dawson as they watched, Shay smirking as she noticed the pink tint to your cheeks.
“Yeah, it has, Erin. How you been?” You asked, pausing in washing the rig until you felt Casey’s eyes on you.
“I’ve been okay, working in Intelligence with Voight, I’d ask you to walk with me but your Lietenant is watching you like a hawk.” Erin stated, leaving you to grimace.
“Uh, hey, Shay!” Shay peeking her head out of ambulance 61 made you give her a deadpan look before referencing to Erin.
“Can you give Erin my number? I know you have it. I need to finish cleaning the rig.” You asked, leaving Shay to raise her eyebrows at you teasingly as you flustered.
“Please, Shay.”
///
You were sat in a booth on your own in Molly’s when an individual holding a beer slipped into the booth seat opposite you.
“Fruit juice? Really?”  Erin rasped out leaving you to just shrug, sipping your drink.
“I don’t drink alcohol.” was all you stated but Erin to nod slightly.
“How long?”
“How long what?” You raised an eyebrow, staring at her.
“How long have you been clean?” Erin whispered, leaving you to just nod in understanding.
“Voight got me into rehab when I was fifteen. It’s on my medical files but doesn’t affect how I work since Boden knows. I slipped up every now and then with my foster family but I’ve been clean since I turned 19 and I wanted to join the fire academy.” You explained, twirling your straw between your fingers.
“What made you want to join the fire academy?” Erin asked, leaving you to sigh.
“Only reason I got pulled from my bio family was the shed in the back garden was on fire. I was in the basement, battered. Voight found me, pulled me out whilst the firefighters handled the fire. If that fire hadn’t started, I probably wouldn’t have made it. Would’ve died in that basement from my injuries.” You replied, pausing as Erin’s hand went to grasp yours.
“I’m glad you got out, y’know.” Erin replied, smiling slightly as you grasped her hand back.
“I’m glad both of us did.”
“I’m sorry I wasn’t there when you were thirteen and after that.”
You just nodded, a laugh escaping your lips slghtly.
“What? What’s so funny?”
“Nothing. Just something I remembered from a long time ago. Anyway, what are you doing this weekend?” You asked, glancing around as you felt eyes watching you for a moment.
“Not much, why?”
“Do you want to get a pizza and watch one of those movies we never got to see growing up because of the circumstances of our births?” You enquired, leaving Erin to raise her eyebrows at you.
“Are you quoting Pokemon whilst trying to ask me out?”
“Who said I was asking you out? Maybe I just want to hang out with you, eat a pizza and watch a movie?”
///
You were lying on your couch upside down when Erin walked in from the front door, pizza in hand.
“You wanna know something?” Your eyes were glazed over with exhaustion and grief.
It had become a thing that one of you would come over with pizza if something bad had ever happened.
Well, one of your close friends, Leslie Shay had died and you were struggling.
“What’s up?” Erin hummed, passing the pizza box closer to you.
“I had a crush on you when I was a teen.”
Erin raised an eyebrow as she turned to look at you as you shoved the slice of pizza into your mouth.
Erin’s gaze made you glance up from your slice of pizza as the toppings threatened to fall off.
“Why didn’t you tell me before?”
“Because I was struggling to get clean and you were clean. You deserved better.” You explained, twirling the pizza crust in your fingers like a baton before eventually eating it.
“Y/n...”
“Relax, I grew up. You’re more like the sister I never had than anything. Especially after my brother ran away and I’ve not seen him since. You’re more my family than my bio family ever were. You and the firehouse. It’s not going to be the same without Shay.” You admitted, about to pick up another slice of pizza when you spotted the sad look in Erin’s eyes.
“Okay, that sad look is going to make me cry, so stop doing that, eat some pizza and let’s watch this cheesy movie so I can calm down.” You replied, reaching to grab the remote as Erin’s hand went to your forearm.
“You’re my family too, Y/n. And I am sorry about Shay.”
///
You were standing next to Gabby, sipping a mug of coffee when a blonde walked in.
“Gabriela Dawson?”
“Uh, yeah, that’s me.” Dawson raised an eyebrow at you but you just shrugged, continuing your coffee with the feeling that Boden was watching the three of you.
“Sylvie Brett. I’m your new paramedic on 61.”
You flushed pink slightly as Brett looked at you with a smile, resulting in you almost spitting your coffee.
“Y/n S/n. Truck 81.”

Part 6
It's been a few days since your date night with Jay. It went much better than you expected. You knew from the start that Jay is a good guy and probably a sweet lover too. But after that night, you found out that there's more to him than his good look and easy-going attitude. Jay's gentleness soothes your insecurities. His understanding warms you from inside. It's hard to feel miserable when he's around. You cannot help but latch on to him.
You and Jay keep texting and calling each other every day, but you only got to meet him once since then. For a coffee date before he ran to work while you went for your PT session. His job doesn't leave a lot of spare time, so you relish all the time he spends with you.
You hear your phone rings when you have your lunch. There is a video call request from your best friend and work-mate, Alex. "Hey, you! I miss your stupid face!" you greet him.
"You know what's not stupid?" Alex ignores your greeting. "The new material I received this morning
He refers to an email you sent him last night. Instead of sleeping, you wrote some lines and tinkered some notes on your electric keyboard. It was still very rough, but you and Alex swap ideas all the time. They could be a bar of melodies or chord progressions. Or maybe a single line that you cannot get out of your head, even there's no context to it.
"Wanna work on it soon?" Alex proposes.
"Yeah, sure!" you easily agree.
"You know I'm gonna ask how you come up with that song idea, right?" Alex probes further. He got an idea about your sudden burst of inspiration, but you haven't told him anything yet so far.
"You can ask. I might not answer", you nonchalantly retort. "Are you asking now?"
"I would, but I just arrived at my parents' house for our weekly dinner", Alex turns his camera phone and shows you his family dining table. "Say hi to Y/N, Pop" He lets his parents know that you're on the phone.
"Hallo, Liefje" Alex's parents greet and wave at you. "I miss you, Y/N. How are you doing, darling?" Alex's mom squeals at you.
"I miss you guys too. I miss home," you utter mournfully.
"I saw your dad last week. He and your mom cannot wait to have you back home next month. As are we." Alex's dad informs you.
Your face gets even more upset. "I haven't told my parents yet, but it's gonna be another two months. It's not working out as good as they wanted"
Alex's parents let out a sympathetic noise. "Oh great, I still have two more months to hide all my chocolate from you" Alex teases you instead. He knows if he doesn't throw any humor here, you're going to weep. The family laughs at your offended look.
"Where's Sara?" you ask them when you didn't notice Alex's little sister on the table.
"She's getting ready for a date after dinner. Said they will go stargazing. Can you believe it?" Alex skeptically recounts to you.
"Hmm, that sounds romantic. Good for her." you hum your appreciation. Alex can see twinkles in your eyes.
"Of course, you thought it was charming", Alex sounds vexed.
"Why are you so grumpy about this? You have a hit song that compared someone's eyes with the moon", you remind him. "Last time I checked, that song already got more than 400 million streams on Spotify". Alex just grumbles incoherently, while you can hear his father's booming laugh in the background.
"Alex, would you please call your sister down for dinner?" Alex's mom orders him.
"Alright, ma. Gotta go, Y/N. I'll call you later when I'm back at the studio. Bye, sis!" Alex ends the call.
◢◤
Kelly Severide comes to your place in the evening after he finished his shift. He called you on your cell several times, but you didn't pick them up. He knocked on your door for a few minutes without answers. Worried that something bad happened to you, he uses his key to open your apartment door. You gave him a spare when you began your recovery from the incident. Since you got nobody in town except for the 51 Family, you thought at least one of them should have access to your place, in case you need help.
Kelly sees you sitting on your corner desk with headphones on. Your head is nodding to the beat you're working on. Relieved to know you okay, but feels a bit annoyed, Kelly taps your shoulder lightly. You jump in surprise, almost fall from your chair if Kelly doesn't hold you down.
"Kelly! What..! Why are you..??" your heart is still pounding in shock, makes you unable to finish your thoughts properly.
"I knocked! And called you many times! Neither you answered! I was afraid that you fell and unconscious so I used my key", Kelly exclaims.
You check your phone and see seven missed calls from Kelly. "Sorry, I left my phone on mute, somehow"
Kelly goes to raid your fridge and takes a bottle of apple juice. "Your fridge needs beers" he judges. "Go, get ready! We'll hang out at Molly's. Everyone misses you", Kelly orders you.
"I'm working, Kelly. Just because my work has no shifts, doesn't mean I can go anytime you want", protest you.
"You work for your best friend, who's in another continent right now. You can slack off for a bit" he dismisses your complaint.
"I'm making big progress here. My writing juice is flowing", you point at your laptop.
"One hour. I give you one hour to work. Then I'm hauling you out of here. In the meantime, I'm gonna order take out for us", Kelly decides.
You only mumble your disagreement, knowing that you're gonna lost the argument anyway. So you just put your headphones back on your head. However, Kelly pokes you again five minutes later, with his phone on hand, "Hey, do you want Thai or Greek? I'm in the mood for Greek right now", Kelly playfully asks you.
"Yeah, Greek is fine" you start to feel bothered.
He leaves to order the food while you're back to do your work. Ten minutes passed, Kelly drags a chair from the kitchen island to your side. He knocks on the table to catch your attention.
"Hey, I just remember, Brett said they saw you rescued somebody at the swimming pool last week. How did that happen?" he questions.
You let out a desperate sigh. "You're not going to let me work in peace, are you?"
Kelly just grins. "C'mon, we haven't hung out for a while. Lots of drama to share"
You save your work in defeat and then move to the kitchen to grab a bottle of water. Kelly sits on the couch with legs resting on the coffee table. You place yourself next to Kelly.
"They extend my therapy for another month" you restlessly play with your bottle cap.
"Is it not going well?" Kelly asks in concern.
"I got cramps that day at the swimming pool. They worried I damaged something. So they prefer to be cautious" you fill him in.
"That's when you rescued Dr. Manning's son " Kelly tries to clarify.
"Well, I just pulled him out of the water. The pool guard was the one who helped him breathe" you shrug.
"You assisted. It still counts as a rescue", Kelly insists. "Bet if Dr. Manning knew, she would buy you drinks at Molly's forever"
"More like got invited to dinner at their place," you mutter.
"Hmm, that's probably true" Kelly pauses for a moment, thinking. "Wait, did you meet her?" he grills you.
"Yeah. And her fiancé. I came to the hospital to check on Owen. Then next thing I knew I'm having family dinner with Manning/Halstead clan", you convey to him.
Kelly's phone chirps interruptedly. "Food's here" He goes to pick up the food from the delivery guy. "Alright, let's eat then we can go to Molly's"
◢◤
Jay is nursing his first beer as he watches Will bottoms up his third glass of whiskey. Will called him earlier in the evening, claimed that he needs bro night out after a shitty day at Med. Jay's initial plan to have dinner with you got scrapped before he even asked.
"Maybe you need to pace yourself, Will", Jay suggests to him as Will signs to Otis for a refill.
"Yeah, Doc. Maybe you want to switch? We have a nice Dutch craft beer chilling here", Otis offers. But Will is still holding out his empty glass to him, silently demanding for more. "Okay then" sighs Otis as he fills the glass.
Jay hears the commotions at the other end of the bar. He recognizes some people from Firehouse 51 there. Christopher Hermann is cackling, while Matt Casey grins widely. They pay attention to someone that is sitting among the group, but he cannot see who because Severide is blocking his view.
Jay checks his phone while he finishes his beer. He received a text from you beforehand, told him that she's going out to meet her friends tonight. He texted back, wishing her to enjoy her night out, but got no replies. Will notices Jay's scrolling on his phone and asks, "Do you need to go back to work?"
"Nah, just checking my texts" Jay puts his phone back in his pocket. "Are you feeling better now?"
"Not in the slightest. But I still have to go to work tomorrow. If I wanna do better than today, I cannot do that with a hangover" Will sulks. "Hey Gabby, I would like to try that craft beer Otis suggested" he requests to Gabby who passes by.
"Would you like one as well, Jay?" Gabby offers him.
"Alright, why not.." Jay accepts the new bottle.
"Is this a new batch? Don't think I ever have it here before", comments Will after his first sip.
"Yeah! Just start to come in this month. It's a friend's favorite. She hooked us up with a supplier directly from The Netherlands. You like it?" Gabby enthusiastically claims.
"It's good. But still not Bourbon", Will pouts. Jay lets out a snort while Gabby snickers.
Jay looks around the bar as he savors his beer. He paused when he thought he saw you sitting among the 51 Gang. Will notices and looks in the same direction. "Is that Y/N?" asks Will.
Jay stands up for his seat, "I'm gonna go say hi to her"
◢◤
You feel a palm pressed to your back as you hear someone's saying from behind, "Didn't expect to see you here tonight"
You turn your back immediately as you realize whose voice it is, "Jay!" shout you excitedly. You open your arms to hug him. Jay lands a chaste kiss on your lips before hugs you back.
Kelly and Matt look at each other over your head with eyebrows raised. "Well, that's something I didn't expect" goads Kelly.
"Severide, Casey" Jay gives them an acknowledging nod with his hands stay on your hips.
"How do you know each other?" Matt asks curiously.
Jay opens his mouth to reply, but you hear Will's interruption, "You guys finally made it, huh?" Jay rolls his eyes at his brother.
"These guys have been sending heart-eyes at each other since they first met" Will tips off the 51 gang. "Which I arranged, by the way. But this result was unintentional"
"No, we're not!" you try to deny.
"I was there, Y/N, at your almost first kiss" Will divulges.
"Oh my god!" you hide your blushing face behind your palms. Jay smacks a kiss on the side of your head, amused while the group makes fun of you.
"I guess this happened after Y/N rescued Owen?" Sylvie asks to confirm.
"Ooooh yes, our next year candidate!" Hermann yells. The others just clap and whistle in response. You thud your head to the bar table, abashed.
"Hey, don't be embarrassed. We are proud of you" Casey remarks. "That said if you want to go to the academy..." he continues.
"Nuh-uh, I love my job, thank you very much" you quickly state.
You spend the rest of the night beside Jay, chatting and laughing with 51 Family and Halstead brothers until you let out a big yawn. "Tired?" Jay asks you softly.
You nod, "Beer always made me sleepy"
"Let me settle the tabs, then I'll take you home" Jay squeezes your shoulder as he stands up.
Kelly observes you and Jay throughout the night. When Jay left your side, he lowly speaks to you after making sure everyone else is busy conversing elsewhere. "So Jay Halstead is the one who got your juice's flowing, huh?"
"Kelly!" you slap his arm, agape.
"I mean your writing juice! You said it earlier!" Kelly yelps, but his smirk contradicts his words.
"You're the worst" you just shake your head.
Kelly's face turns serious for a moment, "Does he know about your situation?"
"What situation?" you try to sound innocent, but Kelly just gives you a look.
"Told him about the collapsing stage" you deflated.
"Have you told him that you're leaving in two months?" Kelly pushes.
"It's still too early. Who knows, Jay might end this soon", your voice sounds unsure.
"Don't think so. He looks quite smitten by you. Should probably tell him soon", Kelly disagrees.
"I'm happy right now, Kels. Can I just enjoy this for a while?" you start to lose patience with him.
"He deserves to know" Kelly persists.
You look down at the table, your fist is clenched in frustration. Jay comes back and notices the tense atmosphere. "Is everything okay?"
You reply with a forced smile, "Yeah, let's get out of here" then stand up from your seat and give Kelly a quick hug, "Thanks, Kels"
You move to say goodbye to the rest of the group, which takes a bit of time since everyone wants a hug or has something to tell you.
"C'mon guys, my boyfriend has waited long enough" you cry out when Sylvie and Gabby hold you back from going. The group guffaw even louder and playfully nudges Jay, who just beams brightly at you.
"Good night, guys!" you casually shout, finally getting away from the rest of the group, with Jay's hand in yours.

Better Half of Me
Tumblr media
REQUESTED: Yes PAIRING: Matt Casey x Reader WARNING(S): Jealousy, slight smut (18+),
The sky goes pink with early morning rays outside our window. Our bodies move together as one, entwined in love, entwined in passion. His lips at my neck, my hands on his back. Our voices mess together in a passionate moan. An alarm sounds in the background, it’s time to get up, time to start the day. I giggled as I squirmed out from underneath his arms and tumbled out of bed. He caught me around my waist just as I was standing up and pulled me back into bed with him. I pressed the full length of my body against him, luxuriating in his warmth. I sighed and contemplated not going anywhere, but rather cuddle up, nibble his ear and whisper about all the naughty, filthy things I want to do to him.
But there were other concerns to be addressed.
“Where are you going?” He asked and flashed a sheepish grin at me. He had originally came to pick me up from the hospital to take me out for a night on the town, beginning with drinks and dinner at that latest trendy restaurant. When I walked out of the main doors, he saw me in my favourite cocktail dress, a kiss hello became a grope. From there... Well, needles to say, that dress is now on our bedroom floor, along with all the black lace and satin I was wearing underneath.
I propped myself up onto one elbow and looked at him. His body radiated with satisfaction. I smiled to myself and ran my fingers up his sheet-covered thighs and torso. He growled- a deep, masculine sound. Laughing, I buried my face in his neck, taking in his masculine musk and bit him, ever so gentle, on the shoulder.
“I wish we can stay like this,” I purred in his ear, “But we have to get up for the boys,” I whispered as I rolled out of bed, slowly dressing myself up. I heard him chuckled under his breath, I’m such a tease to him, but he loves it.
By the time he walked into the kitchen, the eggs began to sizzle the moment they hit the pan - bubbling up and turning opaque.
He strolled in, confident and brushes his lips against my neck as he wrapped his arms around my waist. I felt my knees go weak again - as he discovered over the course of time together, it makes me tremble. I closed my eyes and leaned into him for a few seconds, absorbing the sensation of his body.
“What are you making? It smells good..” He mumbled into my neck. I ignored the question, I flipped the eggs briefly and then slid them onto the plates, done over-easy, just the way we like them. I had already cooked up some hash-brows, nice and crispy, and was starting to put bread in the toaster when I heard footsteps coming down the hall. Ben and Griffin came racing into the kitchen, a smile was placed on my lips.
Doorbell rings.
“I'll get it,” I sheepishly smiled, walking towards the front door, and there she stood. Gabriela Dawson. I inhaled nervously as I debated whether to actually slam the door shut in her face, but I didn’t. I held my breath, “Can I help you?” I asked.
“Babe?” He calls out.
"There’s someone for you,” He heard me call out. He walks through the house, floor to ceiling windows looking out to the front yard surrounded by trees and a wooden fence. He approached the front door where I stood, he was very much surprised by her appearance, but who took it graciously, as he was in a tough spot.
“Hey, Dawson.” He said confused, she smiled.
“I thought I would come by and help out with the boys.. But it looks like you got that covered,” She didn’t seem particularly impressed with my appearance. I turned and looked at her and immediately noticed that her eyes had that smoky, sultry look, pupils enlarged, the way they get when she’s always around him. I would know, hence I come by the fire station when I’m done at the hospital, and want to check up on my best friend.
I’ve developed a pretty good ‘poker face’ over the years, to keep my feelings hidden while dealing with women's trying to hit on my firefighter. Which made me ache with jealousy and anger almost instantaneously making my skin crawl. Her and I stared at each other for a brief moment, her eyes holding onto mine in a way that she wanted me to back off from their conversation they were having, and I stood my ground.
“We are good.” I said if she heard the sarcasm in my voice she ignored it.
Now I was struggling to control it, struggling to apply reason and logic, and not do something in a fit of rage, something that would be very uncharacteristic of me. Matt sensed the tension in the room, and had the wisdom to say to her that we’ve got things covered. My fingers aching and my knuckles white from digging my nails into my forearm so hard. It was so disorienting that I was so very angry, so suddenly about her being at our house. While Gabriela, on Matt’s opposite side, was in the almost exact same pose. It was about her, not the pose.
Matt managed to wave goodbye to her, closing the door shut behind us. He maintain a uncharacteristic restraint until he sensed the storm clouds beginning to brew, at which point he touched my arm. “You okay, babe?”
“Not really, no. I’m actually pretty pissed off.”
I blew out a long, pent-up breath. “I don’t like how she always flirts with you, and more importantly, I don’t trust her. She comes across as being decent and professional, but she’s a snake - and that’s very unfair to actual snakes, to be honest.”
He laughed. “She’s too comfortable with you.”
He leaned in and kissed me on my right temple. “I know, and I understand - but I’d never do anything to hurt you, or to hurt us. You do know that, don’t you?” He has this infuriating habit of answering a question with a question, and turning my worries back on me. The face that he’s usually very perceptive - and very right - doesn’t help at all. “I know, but that doesn’t mean I’m okay with her always flirting with you.” I said pouting, feeling upset.
He leaned over and kissed me softly.
I run my hands up his torso and resting them on his chest. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” Matt smiles.

( CLOSED STARTER. ) ↪ matt casey  @upinsmke
Tumblr media
The common room was relatively dead for an afternoon on shift, so Gabby took it as her opportunity to make herself some lunch without having the rest of the crew look at her like a bunch of sad puppies that couldn’t cook a tasty meal to save their lives. Hearing someone enter, Gabby pivoted, loaf of bread in one hand, knife in the other. “Oh, Matt. Hey.” She smiled lightly. “Everyone went outside to...yell at...someone about something, I don’t know. I honestly stopped listening five minutes into Hermann’s rant.” She gestured to the bag in her hand just before setting it down on the counter. “But you’re just in time. I can make you a Gabby Dawson original, come on.”
