There’s Three of You?!

What if the Halstead Brothers had a baby sister?

No, no one asked me to write this. Yes, I thought about all this. Yes, I’m doing listening excersizes (just like in junior high aaaaaaalllllll over again) for the dialogues.

Warnings: foul language, might be some medical inconsistencies.

CHAPTER 1

It had been a long day at the hospital. Lakeshore having no mercy on my ass with all the cases, consults, pop quizzes from the doctors, etc. Add to that the stress from the kind of asshole I had for an attending, Dr. Hobber… and it just becomes even crazzier. Anna Gorgon, a friend of mine from the hospital, recommended me to go and try Molly’s -a first responder’s bar owned by three firefighters from Firehouse 51: Hermann, Dawson and Otis-.

I agreed and she gave me an address, so I went back home, hopped in the shower, changed into some dark denim skinny jeans, a dark gray long-sleeved shirt, black leather jacket and black heeled boots. I got some light makeup, my earrings and matching heart necklace that Jay got me for my med school graduation, grabbed my purse with my keys, car keys, wallet, phone and headphones and left the apartment after locking the door on the way out.

I texted Jay to let him know I was on my way and see if we could catch up, but it went with no answer. Weird? No, that man was so dedicated to his job that I’d be surprised if he ever looked at his phone during office hours or while working on paperwork.

I drove to the bar, listening to my guilty pleasure when it comes to music: Reggeton, and parked a bit down the road, I quickly walked into the place to escape the night’s cold weather.

Upon entering, my eyes zeroed in on my older brother, but what I saw made me mad -the three owners were giving money to a big-sized man, who they had called Arthur-, but the worst part was hearing what that man said next.

“See uh… my man Jay here. He’s been assessing your business. We’ll talk numbers soon.” Son of a… he’s doing undercover jobs again! So that’s why our calls are practically seconds long and we have to text as business people. I thought as I heard the man speak and saw the owners faces darken, I knew I had to do something to save Jay. I sent a silent prayer to God and my mom to protect me, took a deep breath, walked up to him and started with my act.

“Hey Jay! What you doing here?” I asked him as I hug his shoulders from behind, Jay turned to look at me, first with surprise, and then with a «I’m-gonna-kill-you» face, I just continued with the act.

“Don’t look at me like that, I heard about this place from a friend at the hospital today and decided to come check it out.” I then turn to look at the bigger man. “Hi, I’m Marianne, Jay’s sister.” I extended my hand for him to shake, he did. “I understand that there’s an ongoing tension here…”, I then turned to look at the three people behind the bar. “You three own the place, don’t you?” The three of them nod, and I nod back to them.

Arthur seems confused, he looks between them and me. “Look, Arthur right?” He nods. “We don’t want any trouble, just like I’d like to think you don’t want any trouble… so, how about this? I put in the rest of the money for them tonight and you go on your merry way out of here? Sounds good?”

He seems to think about it and then smirks at me, from the corner of my eye I could see Jay mentally cursing me to hell and back. “Sounds good to me kiddo.” Said Arthur, so I smirked too. I let go of Jay’s shoulders for a minute, took out my wallet and gave him 500 dollars. Jay, and the firefighters looked surprised. “Hope this covers it.” I said, he took the money and smirked again towards me.

“It does… for now.” He said.

“Great! Have a good night.” I said with a sickly sweet tone of voice and a fake smile on my face.

As soon as the man is out of the bar, I turn to Jay, my expression is now serious, the three owners of the bar seem to have a mental whiplash, their expressions showing confusion and -in the case of the woman, Gaby if I’m not mistaken- betrayal, but in this precise moment I don’t care.

“Ok, he’s gone. I gotta talk to you mister. Right now.”

“The baby of the house and she thinks she can boss me around.” He said to the three firefighters.

“Now Jay.” I said, grabbing him from the neck of his shirt and pulling him towards the back corner of the bar which was empty, I could feel the eyes of the three members of Firehouse 51 on us, trying to eavesdrop into our conversation.

As soon as we make it to the corner, my Irish temper makes its appearance.

“You doing undercover gigs again? Are you shitting me Jay?” I whisper-yell to him.

“Why the hell’d you do that for? You do understand that man’s dangerous right?” his own temper making an apparition too.

“So what?” I give him an attitude.

“So you just introduced yourself to him as MY SISTER you dumbass? What were you thinking?!” he whisper-yells.

“I was thinking about saving your ungrateful ass from a hell of an uncomfortable situation.” I said, annoyed.

“That’s not the point Lilly! You just put yourself in unnecessary danger.” he said with his overprotective-big-brother voice.

“Please. Unnecessary danger? With you in charge? That’s like walking into the wolf’s den, with you being the Alpha of the pack.” I sassed him.

“I’m not in charge, Organized Crime is. And it is an unnecessary danger.” he said.

I start getting even more angry.

“Then why do you do it, huh? That’s, from what you’ve told me, Antonio’s sister. HE should be the one doing this gig, not you.” I said, my anger still showing.

“It’s not that simple. He’s in Intelligence, it’s not his case.” he explained.

“Yes it is!” I exclaimed, ignoring his second sentence.

“Look, I had to-” he started, I cut him off.

“You had to what Jay? Do it? No you didn’t and we both know it. You volunteered for this you… you self-sacrificing idiot.” I said to him.

Jay’s about to refute my statement, but I hug him, effectively shutting him up.

“Listen to me you knucklehead. You may be an Army vet, and a police detective… but first and foremost, you’re my brother Jay. That means that I’ll always worry about you, ok? I need you to understand that I can’t just be fine with you always putting yourself in these kind of situations.” I said, mad, but showing that I’m really worried.

I feel as all the fight leaves Jay’s body and he hugs me back.

“I’m sorry LilyBloom. I don’t want to worry you.” I sighed, and tightened my hold on him, he did the same.

“Want it or not, I’ll always worry about you Jay, you’re my big bro… it’s in the job description.” I said, with a soft and warm tone in my voice, my anger finally subsided.

“Just like it’s my job to worry about you baby sis.” he said with the same tone.

“Love you Jaybird.”

“Love you too LilyBloom.”

We separate and smile at each other, we feel the firefighters’ eyes on us, still trying to eavesdrop our conversation. With our smiles still in place, Jay wraps his arm around my shoulders, and I grab that hand with my own. We walk back to the bar and Jay gets some bills from his wallet and leaves them at the table, hugging me again as soon as he’s done.

“Sorry for whatever inconvenience that man has caused you… we promise to fix it. Right now we’ll get out of your hair.” I say, we both start making our way towards the door, but Dawson stops us.

“Wait! We cannot thank you enough for doing what you did for us just now.” she says to me.

I give them a small genuine smile, the kind that my brothers say makes me look cute.

“You can repay me by doing your very best everyday at 51.” I wink at them “Again. We’re sorry, we’ll be on our way.” I apologize again, Jay chuckles -he says I over apologize sometimes- and we leave.

“Wanna grab a drink at my place and stay the night? I kinda need my big bro with me tonight.” I say to him, he smiles and kisses my temple.

“Of course Lilypad, I’ll be delighted to have a sleepover with my baby sis at her apartment.” He says with a teasing smirk on his face and happiness in his voice, I lightly punch his side, he chuckles again. “I’ll escort you” He said, I nodded and we separated from our hug. We each got into our cars and Jay followed me all the way home.

Once there, we both changed into our pajamas, Jay started leaving some clothes in my apartment, and I started doing the same in his… mutual agreement between us, and sat down on the couch with our beers in hand. We ended up watching a movie and falling asleep cuddled on my livingroom’s couch.

Two months after the bar incident I received a call from Jay, asking me if I could help him out with something, I agreed… what I didn’t expect, was that I was gonna end up dressed in civilian clothes, with my brother’s bulletproof vest, my own gun -Jay had convinced me to buy and register to own one, as a way to «know-you’ll-be-able-to-protect-yourself-if-I’m-not-there» kinda deal for his peace of mind-, and my hospital bag (full of medical supplies, of course), hidden in the back room of Molly’s.

“If this doesn’t work, I’m gonna kill him.” I murmured to myself.

Just then, I heard the door to Molly’s open, I leaned into the window to take a peak, there stood Arthur, my brother and another lowlife thug. Arthur started talking to Gaby -yeah, we’re on a first name basis now-, taking a bottle of liquor and pouring it on the bar table, all while threatening her. Arthur then took out a lighter and threw it on the area where he had poured the alcohol, and it instantly caught fire, Gaby seemed scared, and then, Jay decided to play hero, hitting the man beside him, but not covering his six.

A shot was heard, I dropped my medical bag and opened the door, I knew I could get in trouble for I was about to say, but right now, Jay needed me.

“CPD drop your weapon!” I exclaimed, pointing my gun at Arthur, he turned to look at me with a shocked expression adorning his face.

“You said you were a doctor!” He said, confused. I smirk at him, allowing some arrogance to color my voice.

“And as you can very well guess… I lied.” I say, looking smug. Jay used my distraction to sneak up to Arthur and place the barrel of his gun on his temple.

“You’re under arrest.” Jay said calmly.

“Son of a bitch.” Arthur said, annoyed and angry at my brother.

“Drop the gun Arthur. Drop it or I swear I’m gonna make you eat it.” Jay said to Arthur, but the idiot refused to listen. Jay hits Arthur’s temple with the handle of his gun and the big man fell to the ground, stunned.

“You got my cuffs. Cuff him.” My brother orders, I nod and do as I was told. I ran back to the back room, grabbed my bag, and then to Jay, at the same time, I took out my phone and called 911.

“This is first year intern Dr. Lillian Halstead, I’m at Molly’s Bar. Shots fired at the police. My brother, Detective Jay Halstead, badge number 51163, is at the scene, he was shot on the shoulder, I’m starting first aid treatment. The suspects are down. I need two patrol cars for the arrest and an ambulance. Please, and hurry.”

I sat Jay down and carefully helped him remove his jacket and shirt, I started to treat his wound, Gaby came to us while I was checking for the bullet’s exit wound.

“You’re one lucky man Halstead. It’s a clean through and through. I’ll clean and patch it up, but you’ll need stitches, which I can’t do here, and a quick visit to the hospital.” Jay groaned at the mention of the hospital, I just rolled my eyes, taking out some gauze, disinfectant, and a patch. “Yeah, I know it’s not your favorite place, but it's for my peace of mind. Please.”

The police and ambulance arrived, Antonio leading the arrest, taking Arthur and the other man into custody, the other paramedics -I think the man’s name was Cesar, I’m not entirely sure- checked on Gaby and Jay once we were all outside. Antonio came to check what happened, and saw me wearing Jay’s vest. He kept his eyes on me for a minute, I immediately took it off. Just then, the man joined me in front of my brother.

“Since you completed the mission, you get to choose your next assignment.” Antonio said to my brother.

“Intelligence. I want Intelligence.” I shook my head, but just resigned to my fate of having my brother wanting to join not only the most elite unit in the police department, but also the one with the most dangerous missions.

“I’ll see what I can do.” Antonio said, before he left, I turned to him.

“Please do. He’ll make me go gray before my time otherwise.” I said, half joking, half being serious.

“Sure Lilly.” Dawson said to me with a small smile, ruffling my hair before he left.

Hermann, Mouch, Otis and Mills arrive just in time to see the police cars leave the premises.

“What happened here?” asked Hermann, we all turn to look at him.

“I saved your bar” Gaby said.

“She sure did.” Jay added, grabbed his jacket and got off the gurney, I grabbed his vest, my bag and just smiled at the firefighters. Now came the hard part of my job: convincing Jay to get his ass off to Lakeshore.

“C’mon Jay. Get in the ambo.” I said, he turned to look at me with a confused expression on his face.

“What? Why?” He asked, and I wanted to slap him upside the head right then and there.

“Oh, just because I want you to. You got shot, you idiot, why else?” I asked, the first part dripping with sarcasm.

“I’m fine Lilly.” he tried to argue with me. I’ll kill you Jay, don’t try me I thought.

I could see, out of the corner of my eye, Mouch, Hermann, Mills, Otis, and Gabby turn to us.

“Like Hell you are, I heard you grunt when you took that bullet. Get in the ambo.” I ordered again.

“I can drive.” Is this idiot for real?! I thought while giving my brother a death-stare.

“Jay. Get. In. The. Ambulance.” I said, emphasizing every word as a command.

“I’m fine!” He exclaimed, my Irish temper came to life once again.

“Jason Joel Halstead I swear to God! Get in the ambulance, we’re going to Lakeshore to get that shoulder checked.” I ordered him again, Jay, honest to God, smirked at me.

“You really think that just because you’re using my full name it’ll have an effect on me, Lillian Marianne Haltead?” He challenged. The fuck you think you are? I’ll kill you Halstead.

“For the love of God Jay. Just get in the ambo. Stop being stubborn.” I said, frustrated and two seconds away from smacking the back of his head. Hard.

The paramedics, firefighters and even Antonio -the last one trying to do it discreetly, but failing tremendously- are all watching the entire exchange between us. As we argue, I can tell Jay is just holding back his laughter at this point, since getting a rise out of me -his baby sister- seems to be his favorite hobby.

Meanwhile, Heaven knows I’m trying my best not to strangle him where he stands.

“Are you even listening to me Jay? This is serious! I know you don’t like hospitals, but we need to get that checked.” I told him. He shook his head and gave me a small smile.

“Yes. Yes. Ok, let’s go.” He said. I had opened my mouth to argue again but close it with an audible click. I place the palm of my hand on his forehead, then on mine to compare our body temperatures.

“Are you sick? Or maybe the bullet did hit somewhere major?” I asked him, concerned and confused.

“No I’m not sick. Why?” He asked, a smirk on his face.

“You never listen to me.” I state matter-of-factly.

“Of course I do.” He says matter-of-factly, I snort, he gives me a confused look.

“I’ve known you since the day I was born Jay. No you don’t.” I say, grabbing my bag and his vest again, and making our way to the ambo, the snickers and giggles of everyone present watching our argument in the background.

They can laugh all they want, I’m still gonna worry about him.

Chicago Fire Season 1 Ep. 20 "Ambition"

Mills is resented by some colleagues when Severide backs him in joining Squad. Mills thinks Casey's resentment is linked to his relationship with Gaby. Tara joins Gaby and Shay on the job for a few shifts. Meanwhile, Shay helps Cindy Herrmann, who is having a difficult pregnancy while her husband Christopher is away. Elsewhere, Gaby and Casey get closer as the Molly's opening date approaches. Casey is surprised by his ex-fiancee Hallie.

Shay tells Severide everything is going well with her pregnancy. Severide is happy for her.

The crew goes to help a worker who was buried under a collapsed shelving unit. The worker is shocked and the team starts digging him out, accidentally starting a small fire. Mills comes up with a way to get the victim out.

Back at the station, Mills is with Severide and the Squad team. The tension is rising, and the non-Squad team is turning on Mills. Meanwhile, Dawson and Shay's new ride-along EMT expresses interest in Severide. Mills speaks privately with Casey, where he explains his interest in joining Squad. Casey warns Mills that he's not on Squad yet, and he needs to pay attention to his truck duties.

Dawson and Shay respond to a call about a man stuck in an automatic garage door opener. The man is bleeding and the team must cut him out. Tara, the new EMT, is uncomfortable with the blood and guts. She may not be cut out for the job.

At the station, Severide helps Mills, and the truck team gets more frustrated. Casey talks to Boden about Mills' ambitions, saying Boden favours him to make up for his father's death. Later, Mills confides in Dawson, saying everyone is upset with him. Dawson tells Mills to take care of himself.

The local chief stops by to interview Dawson about Tara's performance. Dawson tells him the truth: Tara doesn't like the busy firehouse in the city.

Later, Tara surprises Severide at his apartment. After Severide misses an appointment at the insemination clinic, Shay returns home to find Severide with Tara. Upset, she tells him she doesn't want his sperm anymore.

After cutting into the abandoned house, Casey and Severide find a marijuana grow house. When they enter, they find a forest of marijuana plants. Severide rescues an unconscious farmer, but one of his Squad members gets electrocuted. As the fire grows, Mills and Casey drag the Squad member to safety. Mills learns a lot from Casey.

Casey's Truck team is called to a shooting. Shay and Dawson arrive first and find the victim is one of Voight's enemies.

Later, the whole crew meets at Molly's to celebrate the refurbishing. Severide and Shay apologize to each other and Severide convinces Shay that he still wants to help her have a baby. At the celebration, Dawson finds that she's still torn between Mills and Casey.

Chief Boden calls Severide to the station. Tara is pressing charges against him. She says he lured her to his apartment and then sexually assaulted her. It's a bogus charge, but Boden advises Severide to get a lawyer.

Meanwhile, Casey and Dawson are sharing a touching moment. Hallie stops by the bar to tell Casey that she's back in town.

FLM Fast Facts

Five Little Monkeys (FLM) is a fanfiction/ original fiction world in the Castle fandom. 

The first book (published Jan. 2013) explores the idea of what if Castle and Beckett had quintuplets. How would their lives change?

In December 17 of the year 2116, Ray Peterson, reporter of the Interplanetary Chronicle of New York was sent aboard the Spaceship Bravo Zulu 88 to the International Satellite Zulu Extra 34.

His mission is to write a story about the check-up of infra-radiation flux on Galaxy M12.

What should be a routine procedure suddenly changes. Before the spaceship crew were leaving to Base 12 on Mars, they tried to communicate with the Spaceship Alpha 2, but they get no answer.

They assume its pilot is dead.

During the passage to the red planet, they have to attend an emergency with Spaceship Metro Sierra 13.

After landing on the Martian moon, Phobos to rescue the only survivor of the Metro Sierra 13 -- who was dying -- the Commander received an order to move to the Interplanetary Base on planet Venus.

Their mission there was to intercept the Alpha 2. This ship is out of control and has two photonic deflectors activated creating an intense heat shield capable of destroying all life on planet Earth.

It's time to Peterson to prove his worthiness despite the Commander and some others of his fellow crewmates see him as "a leech".

This is the debut of Antonio Margheriti as a director.

To simulate the effect of weightlessness due to the lack of gravity in space, actors were instructed to move in slow motion. Actor Archie Savage aced this technique because he was also a dancer.

Back to School Readathon 2023

Starting a few days after the fall semester starts for my university, Liv is helping to host another readathon, except that this one is not 24 hours, its almost a week long! With both reading prompts and photo prompts, each based on particularly school themed events and classes, there is about to be so much going on from August 25-August 31!

Unlike the graphic novels and manga readathon, I do not plan to try to read more than the books I'm selecting for each reading prompt this time, unless I read way faster than I'm expecting! As far as the photo prompts, based on the spirit week we all know and love, we don't actually have to dress up or even have our faces in any of the photos! As mentioned in Liv's announcement video, you can simply use props to do flat lays with books, and I'll be mentioning one that I'm already planning out (and will likely take the picture super ahead of time!).

Gwen has put out some awesome movie suggestions for the "study hall" prompt as well, specifying that the prompt is just that the movie needs to take place in a school, not necessarily a dark academia or anything like that (literally you can watch High School Musical even!) and if you are a patron of Gwen, she'll be hosting a live viewing of Heathers!

While there are enough prompts for a full school day, there is no particular order required or even recommended to my knowledge of how to follow each prompt. It certainly is not expected for you to knock out more than one prompt in one day unless your second prompt is the "study hall" aka movie prompt!

«— En los últimos meses todo iba de mal en peor, después de la muerte de Jin, Dina fue consumida por la depresión, perdió a su prometido y lastimosamente no obtuvo su final feliz como esperaba, los de la estación trataban de ayudarla, pero, era imposible, ya que ella distraía su mente con el trabajo, haciendo formularios, yendo al hospital para recoger insumos para la ambulancia, aunque estuviera llena, quedándose más tiempo en la estación, solo para no regresar a su apartamento y ver los recuerdos que tuvo con Jin.

Cada objeto, cada foto... Todo, simplemente no podía aceptar el hecho de que cada vez que entrara por aquella puerta, lo único que encontraría era la soledad y el triste recuerdo de no tener la presencia de Jin en su hogar, sus padres estaban preocupados por esta actitud, incluso Carol desconocía a su hermana, todos la entendían, debido a que ella había encontrado esa felicidad que tanto anhelaba para ella y para su hermana menor, encontró unos padres que en verdad las aman y protegen, se graduó de la carrera que tanto soñaba cuando era una niña, y había encontrado el amor sincero de un hombre que en verdad la quiso.

Pero todo le fue arrebatado, sin olvidar que perdió a una de sus mejores paramédicos y también su mejor amiga, la que si era necesario le patearía el trasero si renunciaba a sus sueños, Leslie Shay fue el alma de la fiesta en la estación 51, una amiga y hermana, incluso la misma Dina tuvo que sacarla de aquel hoyo negro en el que se había sumergido cuando perdieron a un paciente a causa del suicidio.

Nadie se esperaría que Shay fuera asesinada a causa de un incendiario, el hermano de Gaby, Antonio, llevo a cabo el caso y sin contar que su hermana, Dina y Carol también serian asesinadas por este psicópata, el cual acabaría asesinado por un disparo en la cabeza, se hizo justicia y también llevaban el nombre de Shay en la puerta del piloto en la ambulancia 61. De hecho, unas semanas después se había integrado Peter Miles a la ambulancia 61, esto se debe a que Gabriela estaba en el camión 81, una verdadera paramédico y bombero, en verdad se lo merecía, después de todo por lo que se ha esforzado, Gabriela Dawson había alcanzado un nuevo objetivo y su capitana no podía estar más orgullosa.

El turno había acabado muy pronto ese, Dina le había suplicado a su padre cubrir algunos turnos extras, pero viendo que ya ella estaba agotada, su padre le ordeno que fuera a casa para que descanse un poco, podría ser su padre y a veces podría desobedecerlo, pero era su jefe y no podía darse ese lujo para escapar de sus ordenes, estaba sentada frente a su casillero recogiendo sus cosas, hasta que miro una foto de Jin y de ella en su primer año de noviazgo, con esta foto le traía muy lindos recuerdos.

En ese momento vio a su hermana entrando a los vestidores, por lo que Dina cerro su casillero y rebuscando algunas cosas, al meno para así disimular un poco su tristeza.

— Hola Di — saludo Carol sonriéndole, pero ella mostró una sonrisa algo forzada — ¿Irás a la cena de esta noche con mamá y papá? — pregunto abriendo su casillero.

Dina solo negó con la cabeza y sin mirarla — La verdad, necesito estar sola, por ordenes de papá, debo ir a casa. —

— Y tiene razón, Di, has estado trabajando el triple más que todos nosotros, incluso cubriendo turnos que no te corresponden — dijo Carol mirándola — Sé que todo es difícil para ti, primero la muerte de Jin, luego ocurre lo de Shay, aquel piromano que estuvo a punto de matarnos, todos estamos mal aquí y esperamos que todo vuelva hacer como antes. —

— Es por eso que quiero estar sola, quiero poder superar todo a mi manera, y eso empieza haciéndolo sola — respondió ella siendo cortante con su propia hermana, aunque Carol solo la abrazo unos segundos y luego salir de los casilleros.

Era cierto que todo ha sido un caos en estos meses, todo ha sido de golpe, aun así es doloroso, estar en un departamento en la cual no esta tu prometido, tu mejor amiga no esta haciendo sus chistes o dando su sugerencia en cada llamado.

«— Cuando recibió la llamada, la ambulancia 61 de inmediato tuvo que estar fuera de servicio, la llamada ha sido muy preocupante para su capitana y al estar en la morgue, una sensación horrible recorría por el cuerpo de Dina, un frio o una intuición que no te lleva a nada bueno, nadie ha salido hablar con ella.

— Mantén la calma Dina, ya van a salir en cualquier momento — dijo Gaby preocupada por el estado que se encontraba su capitana, pero Shay y Carol solo negaron con la cabeza.

Ella esperaba que todo fuera una pesadilla, una broma de mal gusto y justo en ese momento que estaba tratando de mantener la calma, una doctora había salido.

— Hola, ¿Usted es Dina Boden? — pregunto la doctora estando frente a ella.

— Sí, me notificaron de que mi prometido... Solo, por favor, necesito ver si se trata de él o de alguien desconocido — un momento de pánico la domino por completo, por lo que Carol se acerco hasta ella y la abrazo para tranquilizarla un poco.

— Por favor Doc, mi amiga necesita ver si en verdad se trata de Sheldon Jin o no — intervino Shay de inmediato, estaba tranquila por Dina y que no le gustaba ver a su amiga de esa manera.

Aquella doctora solo asintió con la cabeza, y Dina la comienza a seguir hasta el lugar donde tienen el cuerpo, nuevamente volvía a sentir aquella sensación rara, aquel de miedo, donde no podía asimilar nada. Cuando ve el cuerpo en aquella mesa metálica y fría, encima del cuerpo tenía la típica sabana blanca, todo para ella se sentía real.

Dina solo asintió con la cabeza cuando la doctora le pregunto si estaba lista, obviamente no lo estaba, todo a su alrededor ya no tenía sonido y cuando la doctora quito la sabana, Dina se tapo la boca y el pánico se apodero de ella y las lágrimas no tardaron en descender por sus mejillas, era difícil hablar en el estado en que se encontraba, solo asintió nuevamente con la cabeza, confirmando que si era su prometido, la doctora no sabía que hacer o que decir, solo debía darle espacio a la paramédico y salió del lugar.

Ella solo se acerco hasta el cuerpo, acariciando su cabello y mejilla, no quería aceptar esta triste realidad, ¿Por qué estaba pasandole esto justo ahora?, sabía las consecuencias en salir con un agente del departamento de policía, y Jin sabía las consecuencias de salir con una paramédica, cualquiera de los dos ya no estarían en este plano terrenal y en este caso... Fue él.

— No quiero aceptar esto — comenzó hablar Dina, lágrimas descendiendo por sus mejillas y sin dejar de acariciar el cabello de su fallecido prometido — Ambos soñamos en cumplir varias metas juntos, ya las estábamos cumpliendo, estábamos a punto de casarnos Jin, por favor despierta amor, por favor. —

Estaba desesperada, sus gritos inundaron aquella habitación, en ningún momento se dio cuenta cuando la doctora, los de seguridad y sus compañeros entraron en la habitación tratando de alejarla del cuerpo, quería que supiera que ella estaba ahí para él, quería sentir su calidez por última vez.

Pero...

Ya no podía sentirla.

En ese momento que ella salió de sus pensamientos cuando escucho otra puerta cerrarse con fuerza, haciendo que se sobresaltara, se levanto de la banca y se acerco al otro lado donde estaban los casilleros del escuadrón, y se trataba de su teniente Kelly Severide, aunque Dina no estaba en una buena relación con él desde la muerte de Shay.

— ¿Qué quieres Dina? — pregunto Kelly cortante, ella no podía quejarse porque le hizo lo mismo a su hermana menor.

— Nada en especifico, solo escuche la puerta cerrarse, es todo — contesto ella de igual forma, no estaba de humor para hablar con alguien, y menos de él.

— Espera — la detuvo, por lo que se volteo para verlo nuevamente.

A pesar de toda esta situación, a Kelly y a Dina los estaban siendo consumidos por un agujero negro y por muchos que las palabras de consuelo sean lo que reciban y también sean de ayuda, simplemente es difícil escapar de ese agujero, pero la relación entre la capitana de la ambulancia 61 y el teniente del escuadrón de rescate 3 a estado muy tensa, eso también involucran discusiones en medio de los rescates.

— Podemos ir a beber algo en el Molly’s, aclaremos las cosas por favor — propuso el teniente mirándola, pero Dina solo se negó.

— Me gustaría Kelly, pero debo regresar a mi departamento y empacar lo que me falta de Jin, debo dárselos a mi suegra en dos días — explico Dina también mirándolo, luego se dirigió hacia la banca para tomar su bolso y salir de una buena vez del lugar.

Ella si quería fortalecer nuevamente esa amistad que tenía con Kelly, el problema era que Dina ya sabía esas salidas que involucras los trago fuertes y al día siguiente aparecer en una cama, y conociendo a Kelly, ella no quería ser agregada a la lista de citas de una noche, además, se sentiría como traicionar a Jin.

Simplemente es más difícil de lo que dicen las palabras.

«— Todo parecía ir con tranquilidad en la oficina, el jefe de la estación 51 estaba revisando algunos expedientes y firmarlos, pero a su vez veía algunos reportes de Casey, Severide y de Dina de algunos rescates de la semana, aunque eran más los de su hijas de los otros dos.

— Ay Dina — la nombro con preocupación al ver cada reporte, pero cada vez que veía uno, recordaba el cansancio que ella presentaba, al igual que su rendimiento.

Se sentía culpable por no dar un alto a esta situación desde el inicio.

— Señor — entro su secretaría Connie a la oficina, haciendo que él quitara la vista de los reportes para verla — El sargento Hank Voight acaba de llegar. —

— Bien, dile que pase Connie, gracias — autorizo Boden, luego dirigió su vista nuevamente a los papeles, era mucho que archivar pero los guardo en una carpeta y así llevarlos a casa.

Una vez que Boden guardara los papeles, Voight había entrado en la oficina y luego cerró la puerta, no quería que nadie escuchara su conversación, era una conversación de suma importancia, sin embargo, para muchos era muy extraño que un sargento de policía viniera tan seguido a la estación, así que debían actuar cuanto antes o todo lo que han trabajado, se ira completamente a la basura.

— Si ves que es lo mejor para ella, entonces hazlo, todavía sigue siendo doloroso por lo que le paso a Jin — dijo Voight recordando el momento que llego a la morgue, y Dina lo recibió con una cachetada, culpándolo de lo que pasó ese día.

— Es por eso que te llame, puede que esta conmemoración la ayude a sanar a mi hija, al menos un poco — ambos estaban mirándose fijamente, las palabras de Boden tenían toda la razón, pero muchos en la estación debían sanar ciertas heridas, de solo pensarlo y se había dicho anteriormente, es más fácil decirlo, que llevarlo a cabo.

Ambos estuvieron llevando a cabo esta celebración en los últimos meses, puesto que se ha descubierto que Sheldon Jin a hecho lo imposible para proteger al departamento, a sus amigos, a sus padres y sobre todo... A su prometida, es por eso que querían hacer esta conmemoración y honrar su memoria, un tributo para que recuerden quien fue este hombre en el departamento de policía y bomberos, entre Hank y Wallace han mantenido toda esta conmemoración en secreto, sobre todo para Dina que se le va a entregar la bandera.

Esa misma tarde ambos jefes discutieron el lugar, el día, hora, la cantidad de invitados y otras cosas más, seguirían manteniendolo en secreto para todos.

— Bueno, seguiré haciendo algunas llamadas, sin olvidar que debo seguir firmando papeles — dijo Wallace tomando el celular — A veces olvido lo difícil que es ser el jefe en el departamento. —

— Dímelo a mi, inteligencia siempre es un caos constante — dijo Hank levantándose y se acerco a la puerta — Nos vemos luego capitán. —

— Hasta luego Hank. —

Una vez que el sargento salió de la oficina, el jefe Boden comenzaba a recordar el día que arrestaron al oficial que asesino Jin, Stillwell se encuentra en la cárcel cumpliendo cadena perpetua.

«— Esa tarde había mucha tensión en el departamento de Dina, Carol y Donna la abrazaban, durante esos días, Donna seguía embarazada, mientras que Wallace se encontraba en la cocina preparando un poco de té para las chicas, y para él también, necesitaban calmarse un poco y hace unos momentos, le habían notificado a Dina que arrestarían al sujeto que mato a Jin, aunque Wallace no iba a dejar a su hija ir sola hasta el lugar donde se encontraba el tipo, la acompañaría para que no estuviera sola.

Ella en verdad quería ver al tipo esposado y que sea llevado a cárcel, quería justicia para su prometido, ahora la familia Boden merecía estar más unida que nunca, al estar el té, los cuatro estaba esperando y aún así todos estaban ansiosos, sobre todo Dina que se estaba mordiendo las uñas por la ansiedad que sentía, y luego tocaron la puerta, la paramédico se levanto y a toda prisa abrió la puerta, Hank Voight iba arrestar a Stillwell, pero respeta el deseo de Dina en verlo con sus propios ojos.

— Lo encontramos — dijo Hank mirándola, por lo que Dina asintió con la cabeza, dejando escapar las lágrimas y Wallace no dudo en acercarse a su hija, Carol se quedo con Donna mientras que su hermana — Si queremos arrestar a ese imbécil, debemos irnos rápido. —

— Carol, cuida de tu madre, volveremos pronto — dijo Wallace tomando su abrigo y el de Dina, puesto que ella salio rápido siguiendo a Hank.

— Tengan cuidado por favor — dijo Donna abrazando a su hija y ella acariciaba su barriga.

— Siempre. —

Una vez fuera del departamento, el camino había estado muy silencioso, la tensión se hacía cada vez muy evidente, lo único que podía hacer Wallace por su hija ahora, era abrazarla nuevamente y darle palabras de apoyo como un: “Puedes con esto”, “todos estamos contigo”, “eres fuerte”, entre otras palabras que la ayudaban un poco, una vez que llegaron al lugar, debían repasar el plan una vez más.

— Será algo sencillo y rápido, sin errores, ustedes dos entraran y procederán con el arresto, no quiero que este tipo de escape o siga haciendo de las suyas — explicaba Hank a los dos detectives que los acompañaban — Nosotros por otra parte, estaremos aquí, desde esta vista podremos apreciar el acto. —

— ¿Por qué no podemos acercarnos?, el sujeto esta ahí — dijo Dina mirándolo, pero por su reacción ante la noticia estaba molesta.

— Debido a que me investigan por ser la última persona que hablo con Jin y que tu eras su prometida, lastimosamente no podemos acercarnos más de aquí — dijo Hank también mirándola — Sé que quieres que lo veamos personalmente, créeme, yo también, pero debemos ser discretos y debido a las pruebas que encontró Halstead se hara este arresto, y la muerte de Jin no será en vano. —

Las palabras del sargento la ayudaban un poco, mantenerse calmada es lo que necesitaba en este momento, aunque lo que le frustraba era el hecho de no verlo frente a frente, sin embargo se estaba haciendo justicia, para Stillwell sería un almuerzo tranquilo con su cita, llegan los detectives y proceden hacer el arresto, lo que no se esperaba eran las tres miradas sobre él.

La primera era la de Hank ya liberándose de él por los intentos de culparlo y sacarlo de inteligencias y también de las calles, la segunda mirada era de Dina, que buscaba la justicia y vaya que disfrutaba el momento, y la última mirada era de Boden, no tenía algún inconveniente con el oficial, pero le causo un dolor inmenso a su hija, y es algo que nunca va a perdonar.

Dina sin pensarlo abrazo a Hank y él le correspondió el abrazo — Gracias, en verdad Hank, muchas gracias. —

Ese día fue de muchas lágrimas, sin olvidar que ya pasó el primer infierno.

El segundo sería afrontar el dolor.

Unos pequeños golpes a la puerta lo sacaron de sus pensamientos, su otra hija, Carol había entrado y para ser sinceros, él estaba muy distraído por esos recuerdos que no se había dado cuenta de la hora, aunque no era el momento para recordar este tipo de cosas, era momento de hacer nuevos recuerdos.

— Por suerte Dina hizo caso a tu orden de irse a casa, justo acaba de salir de la estación — dijo Carol sonriendole a su padre, pero él solo hizo un “mm” — ¿Qué ocurre? — pregunto desvaneciendo su sonrisa.

— ¿Qué?, nada, es solo el papeleo cariño — era una excusa más barata que pudo inventarse, por lo que Carol lo miraba dudosa, como si aquella mirada le dijera a su padre “dime”, no tenía más remedio que contárselo, todo menos la sorpresa — Me preocupa que Dina caiga más a un pozo oscuro del cual sea muy tarde de que pueda salir, la muerte de Sheldon la ha afectado, y no puedo permitir que la capitana de la ambulancia 61, la cual es mi hija, cargue con todo ese dolor. —

Carol solo asintió con la cabeza — No eres el único que quiere ayudarla papá — ahora se sentía triste por la confesión de su padre — La muerte de Sheldon es una cosa, pero la muerte de Shay también la está afectando, después de todo también era su mejor amiga. —

— Lo sé, ya habíamos pasado por mucho, aun así esto lo ha puesto incluso peor, no solo la capitana de paramédicos, si no mi teniente de escuadrón, los dos pasando por una situación difícil del cual ya no sé que hacer — dijo Wallace suspirando, a Carol nunca le ha gustado ver a miembros de su familia deprimidos, ocultando sus sentimientos o algo mucho peor que los lleves a la muerte.

— Bueno sabes que estoy aquí para todos, no por nada estudie la psicología — el comentario hizo sonreír a su padre, luego se levanto para abrazar a su hija menor, por lo que ella correspondió el abrazo.

— Tu hermana y tú, son lo mejor que me ha pasado — le había dado ese cumplido y se separo del abrazo — Necesito que la ayudes y rápido, antes de que sea tarde para ella. —

Carol solo asintió con la cabeza y nuevamente sonrió — Ten en cuenta que lo haré papá — con esas palabras, ahora Wallace podía estar más tranquilo — Debemos darnos prisa o si no mamá nos matara a ti y a mí por llegar tarde a la cena. —

Con todo este drama y tragedia que ha pasado, olvidó por completo la cena de esta noche, pero dudaba que Dina vaya a la casa de sus padres para la cena.

«— Era un viaje corto, al menos así lo sintió Dina al regresar a su departamento, pero seguía siendo doloroso entrar y no ver a la persona que amaste llegar hasta ti y darte la bienvenida, mientras te abraza y te besa, nunca puedes olvidas los buenos momentos que pasaste con ese ser especial, no importaba la hora, el momento o si tuvo un turno de mierda en la estación, Sheldon siempre la abrazaba, la besaba, la consolaba y la escuchaba.

Antes de que todo su mundo se fuera al infierno, Dina había hablado con Sheldon sobre todo lo que harían juntos después de su boda.

«— Todo era tranquilo y todo iba bien cuando estaban llevando a cabo la organización para su boda, los dos estaban emocionados, si pudieran, adelantaría la boda de ser necesario, pero querían hacer las cosas bien para su gran día, aunque eso no quitaba el hecho de que estaban emocionados.

— Y listo — dijo dina tachando la última cosa para los preparativos, mientras que Jin leía la última carta de confirmación y agradecimiento para la ceremonia — Ya todo esta listo para la boda amor. —

Él solo soltó un suspiro por el cansancio y asintió con la cabeza — 60 invitados confirmaron su asistencia, y hay largos mensajes de agradecimiento, buenos deseos y bendiciones para ambos — dijo estirándose y luego bostezo.

— ¿Quieres una cerveza amor? — pregunto su prometida, por lo que Sheldon no se negaría a eso.

Esa noche fue de charla y besos, hasta que paso de ser besos y pasión, fueron a su habitación para disfrutar de la noche, pasó como unas 3 horas y nuevamente estaban disfrutando de la presencia del uno del otro, ¿Quién dice que preparar una boda seria fácil?, nadie les dio el aviso, pero, estaban felices por seguir con este nuevo paso para sus vidas, ¿Quién sabe?, tal vez para sus 2 o 3 años de casados podrían tener su primer hijo.

— ¿Estás nerviosa? — pregunto Jin acariciando la espalda de su chica y también estaba acariciando su mejilla, por lo que ella solo sonrió — Porque, no voy a mentirte, estoy ansioso, feliz, nervioso y con ganas de vomitar por tantas emociones acumuladas — la abrazo provocando que Dina se riera.

— Todo cambio tan rápido para nosotros — dijo Dina también acariciando la mejilla de su prometido — Y tengo las mismas emociones que tu amor, y es algo normal de hecho, pero quiero seguir por este camino por el que estamos yendo, no quiero más obstáculos, y si hay uno listo para atacarnos entonces nosotros lo enfrentaremos juntos. —

Lo que había dicho Dina le había encantado a Sheldon, es por eso que él la había callado nuevamente en un beso, no quería interrumpirla por indecencia para interrumpirla por indecencia, para así callarla o que dejara de hablar, al contrario, amaba escucharla hablar todo el tiempo y más cuando le decía esas palabras tan maravillosas, quería que todo lo que decía se cumpliera.

Ese era un lindo y doloroso recuerdo que inundaba por la mente de Dina, y ya no podía soportarlo más, necesitaba ayuda, sabía que acababa de llegar a su apartamento, pero también sabía que si cruzaba por esa puerta iba a inundarse más en la soledad, depresión y tristeza, es por eso que necesitaba salir rápido de ese lugar y dirigirse a la casa de sus padres.

Lo más extraño y para empeorar la situación, comenzó a llover y afortunadamente, Dina pudo conseguir un taxi y así dirigirse a la casa de sus padres, al estar en el lugar toco la puerta varias veces, solo quería pedirle ayuda a sus padres y de su hermana menor, estaba completamente mojada debido a esta lluvia. Nuevamente toco la puerta y el timbre y las risas que se escuchaban dentro del departamento se detuvieron, luego se escuchaban pasos apresurados hasta que se detuvieron y se abrió la puerta, revelando a su padre, sorprendiéndolo al verla y a su vez estaba preocupado al verla llorar.

— Sé lo que vas a decir papá, y no puedo negar que estoy mal porque sigo cayendo a lo más bajo, y sé que si sigo así, voy a terminar peor — dijo Dina desesperada y se secaba las lágrimas, pero más escapaban — ¡Necesito ayuda papá!, en verdad la necesito por favor, ya no quiero estar sola. —

Wallace solo la abrazo y se escucha otros pasos donde estaban ambos, claro que se trataba de su madre y de su hermana, al ver la escena no había más nada que decir, Dina necesitaba desahogarse y que mejor consuelo que estar con su familia, Donna y Carol se unieron al abrazo, mientras que Wallace decía “Estamos aquí” y Donna le dijo “Todo va a estar bien cariño”, y las palabras de Carol fueron “Estoy a tu lado hermana”.

Para que así salgas de esas pesadillas que te atormentan o que sigas cayendo en un agujero negro, pero, el primer paso lo das tu mismo.
