Just a random question but I noticed that you like a lot of underrated Pokémon like Swanna, Karrablast and especially Lumineon (people hate on that precious, beautiful fish WAY too much!) and you also sparked my love of Aegislash through your art so thank you for that

But sense you seem to love a lot of underrated Pokémon, I was wondering if tot had any guilty pleasure favs, like a Pokémon you know is overrated but you just can’t help but love them?

Mine has always been Lucario. I can’t help but love the sharp puppy 😭

I DID like Lucario very much as a kid and I still think it's a great design but I do find myself not caring as much about it anymore as I used to as a child 😅 I was SUPER hyped when I saw it for the first time in "Lucario and the mystery of Mew", I still remember watching the TV premiere of it

Otherwise I don't know if GARCHOMP counts as overrated but I found myself REALLY loving the big shark dragon when I raised an alpha specimen in Legends Arceus - before that I was actually pretty neutral on the dragon. I named him Archie and he became my ace and I love him very very much

The next day, Leon found himself facing off against Norman in a three on three battle. Being the man specialized in normal types, Leon opted to use Miyagi, Bedivere, and Celeste for this fight. With Willow and Ashe seated in the stands and Willow cheering for her papa, that left the battle to start.

Norman sent out Zangoose first -- a rather underrated normal type that was known for its physical attacks, and thus Leon led off with Bedivere first. The fight was intense but it ended up with Bedivere standing. Next came out a Linoone which Bedivere had no problem in taking down, but she also went down with it. Thanking her for her hard work, out came the Slaking, his ace.

Sending out Miyagi, the fight was surprisingly intense despite the pokemon's lazy nature. It ended with Miyagi brought to one knee and the Slaking knocked out. With such an intense gym fight, Leon now found himself looking forward to the region's battles, and after receiving the badge, Leon and his family departed to sleep overnight in the Pokemon Center.

The following day, they departed heading through the next route and as well as the Petalburg Woods. Over the next several days travelling the wood they'd see and experience all kinds of pokemon, but upon exiting, they'd be greeted with a large river and on the other side Rustburo City where the next gym challenge awaited.

Who are your favorite characters and Pokemons in the entirety of the Pokemon franchise? And why?

what a fun question!! favorite character is definitely N from bw&bw2. i honestly think he's the best written character in the franchise. i can never decide if he's an anti-hero or anti-villain -- he's just so complex and i love him with my whole heart. i also love leon and raihan from swsh, especially leon. i relate to him on an uncomfortable level and i think my most underrated fic is the short character study oneshot i wrote about him. from the anime i love ash and goh!! a pokemon journeys official art is my lockscreen lol

as for pokemon!! GOD this is hard...serperior, tyrantrum, garchomp, mienshao, krookodile, kartana, bisharp, weavile, and hydreigon come to mind first. if i were a pokemon i'd totally be a mienshao. don't ask me why, it's just vibes. as for legendaries, my immediate favorites are ho-oh, zeraora, mewtwo, cresselia, and zekrom. thanks for asking this!! :D

Another underrated Mon I like is the Kubfu line, mainly RS Urshifu bc man why are there so many art of SS but not much for RS he's so much better bcnxnd

Idk if it's underrated but I like Victiny, its shiny is dope af imo hahah

Tapu Lele is also pretty cool, Groudon is dope af, and even Ho-oh, and man Entei please he's one of my boiis one of the first legendaries I really liked back then idk even tho I played Crystal I liked Entei more than Suicune hahaha

Idk if they're also under or overrated but I really prefer the Galarian bird trio than the Kanto one

Going to the starters now, I actually really like the Chespin line hahah it sucks how many people hate on it, saying how they don't like how Quilladin looks or how Chesnaught doesn't look like it's pre evos, but idc I love this line they have a special place in my heart uwu

Another underrated one is Popplio, this line also deserved better man omf owo

Then there's the Tepig line my beloved please Emboar got me through Unova along w Reuniclus these two are the backbone of my Unova team

Overrated starters,, ehh idk, Squirtle and Charmander line?? Hahah and ofc the Hoenn trio the best trio nothing can ever top them fr fr no cap

For pseudo legends,, well there's the Goomy line (both Kalosian and Hisuian variants) hahah I will forever be salty how this K.Goodra isn't half Poison it would make so much more sense if it's a Poison type man omfs cjdmnd then ah,, Kommo-o, that line too hahah I think it's pretty dope, bc I have one on my team too hahah

Overrated Pseudos, probs Tyra hahah and Metagross and Garchomp, I'll put in Salamence too, he's cool hahah

Just mons in general, Diglet line, this line also got me through Kanto the real MVP of my team along w Jolteon hahah then ofc the Solosis line it won't be a real Unova playthrough for me if this isn't my actual ace hahaha and ghmm,,, most of the eeveelutions are overrated really, but ehh idk I'm just gon say the dopest ones are Sylveon, Jolteon, and Espeon

Pokemon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, best of type.

Time for Gen 4. Now that the best Gen is gone, we go for the gen with the best Champion.

I feel by now I shouldn't have to say it, but who knows when the PVP gremlins might get it into their head to bitch at me for not suggesting the best possible pokemon that all the metagame users prefer.

This list is based primarily on pokemon I like the best. Sometimes battle viability plays into it, sometimes it doesn't.

Let's begin.

Psychic

Best psychic type of Gen 4. Gotta give it to Gallade, the new addition to the Rats line.

Normal

Munchlax, the new baby Snorlax. Cute little guy.

Fire

Gen 4 infamously shallow on the fire types. This one goes to the final evolution for the fire starter, whose name escapes me just at the moment...Cinderape? Fire Chimp...Pyro Monkey...I'll have to get back to you on that one...Infernape. I was close.

Water

Not too many water types to write home about in Gen 4, but I like Floatzel for best new water.

Electric

Best electric type goes to Rotom. Quite infamously difficult to get the form changes for back in ye olden dayes of Gen 4 because they were event locked, which is horse shit, but what are you gonna do. Luckily Gamefreak eventually wised up and now you can change whenever you like.

Grass

Again, not a lot of competition here. The rose that looks like Liberace, Roserade takes the top spot for grass.

Ice

Meh. Mamoswine I guess.

Fighting

Obvious choice is obvious. Best fighting type of Gen 4 is Lucario. A BAMF if there ever was one and a close runner up for best of gen.

Poison

Best poison type of gen 4. This one is easy. It's Toxicroak

Ground

I always liked Rhyperior. Too bad it's a trade evolution and can therefore eat all the dicks in Sinnoh. The only reason it's still on the list is lack of quality competitors in my eyes.

Flying

Some stiff competition in Flying this gen, but I gotta give it the don, lest he have me fitted with some cement shoes. Honchkrow takes the top spot.

Bug

Best Gen 4 bug goes to Yanmega, falling under the category of "Pokemon that are cool but which I never saw a reason to put on any teams because there are only 6 slots and there will always be better choices than bloody Yanmega."

Rock

Fossil pokemon. An underrated archetype. This one goes to Rampardos.

Ghost

Mismagius, easy.

So few good picks for most types in this gen. Why is it popular again?

Dragon

Oh right...Well, it should come as no surprise that Garchomp takes the top spot for dragon. It is outrageously cool, and enduringly powerful. It's the best of Gen 4 by a WIDE margin.

Dark

Best Dark type of Gen 4. Gotta give it to Drapion.

Steel

Best of steel...I guess I can't give it to Lucario twice...I mean, I could, but I like to pick individual pokemon for each type...meh. Magnezone.

Fairy

Still no fairy types. Come back later.

75. a pokemon that you feel is overrated

okay im getting kinda niche with this one but ash-greninja. i'm completely fine with regular greninja but i really hate that ash always gets some special power when in reality he's just some guy. ash has strong aura powers? kinda weird but it's okay because it doesn't come up that often and is vague enough that it doesn't leave much of an impact. ash getting some long-lost form of greninja that looks like him just because the writers can do that? that's fucking stupid. anyway sorry this turned into an xy rant i just do not like ash-greninja at all lol

76. a pokemon that you feel is underrated

I KNOW I ALREADY MENTIONED LOPUNNY BUT THIS POKEMON HAS BEEN DONE SO DIRTY BY THE FANS. less talk about whatever the hell people do to it on the internet and more talk about how my lopunny in platinum managed to outspeed cynthia's garchomp despite being 12 levels below it. no im not bullshitting and no idk how that happened either but it did. seriously though lopunny is such a beast even without its mega and it deserves so much better than what it gets.

My predictions for the Masters 8 tournament match ups:

quarterfinals:

Ash vs. Alain (Ash wins) / Iris vs. Cynthia (Cynthia wins, sorry Iris :d) / Diantha vs. Lance (Lance wins) / Leon vs. Steven (Leon wins)

semifinals:

Ash vs. Lance (Ash wins) / Leon vs. Cynthia (Leon wins)

finals:

Ash vs. Leon (Leon wins)

So, to explain a bit: 

Ash vs. Alain is quite an obvious match-up because why else would they bring Alain back other than to finally allow Ash to win him? Then I tried to decide who’d I like to see Iris battle and I felt Cynthia is the most obvious choice because of her Garchomp. Sorry Iris, there’s no shame in losing to the queen herself. 

For the second round I wanted a surprisingly “underrated” match-up, Ash vs. Lance. While I know that Ash hasn’t really spent time with Lance since like... AG (altho he did see the Leon vs. Lance battle in the beginning of Jn), but still, he’s the champion of Ash’s own home region so that must mean something to them both. And well, Leon and Cynthia are often considered the two most powerful champions in these games so who wouldn’t want to see that match-up? 

As for the finals, the match-up is pretty obvious (I’m still kind of holding onto a hope that we’d get some kind of surprise here) but I still think that Leon is gonna win this battle... /unless/ this really is Ash’s last season and the writers want to send him off with a bang. I don’t know, I think I’m gonna feel conflicted no matter what happens in that battle 😅 I have been talking about how they should consider bringing a new main character for a while now, but it’s different to just picture the scenario than for it to actually happen :’D And I know I will miss Ash so much if he’s gonna leave.

Ok so I first did this my favourite Pokemon of each type thing a little more than a year ago (well to be fair I probably did it before that too but I can only seem to find the results of this one now) and this was what I came up with:

Grass - 2020: Turtwig 2021: Turtwig

Absolutely no surprises here

Turtwig is my no. 1 favourite Pokemon so of course it is also my favourite grass type Pokemon

Fire - 2020: Ninetales 2021: Centiskorch

I actually considered choosing Ninetales this time as well because I definitely do love it a lot but my Centiskorch was such an mvp in my sword playthrough that I definitely love the fire centipede a whole lot too

Water - 2020: Milotic 2021: Milotic

Not really surprised here I always really liked Milotic I did consider choosing Lapras over it (partly because Lapras was always one of my choices when thinking about a team of 6 most useful to actually travel a region with) but I did spend multiple weeks back in like 2010 in Pokemon platinum on my quest to catch a damn feebas without ever getting it

I probably would have never spent nearly that much time on it if I didn't really like Milotic

Normal - 2020: Braviary 2021: Eevee

I really wasn't as set on my choice for normal type as I was for some others like don't get me wrong I do really like Eevee but I also do like Braviary (it's new Hisuian form also really slaps) but I also like Ditto and Meowth and Wigglytuff and Bidoof so I can definitely see my choice here changing again in the future

Electric - 2020: Luxray 2021: Luxray

What can I say Luxray is just cool

Also it always makes me think of how I nicknamed my Shinx "Shiny" in my first ever playthrough of platinum without even knowing what a shiny Pokemon was at that point lol

Psychic - 2020: Guardevoir 2021: Metagross

Kinda the same thing as for normal type applies here I guess

I like quite a few psychic types but am really not dead set on just one of them so it wouldn't surprise me if my choice would change to Gallade or galarian Rapidash or Medicham the next time I do this

Fighting 2020: Lucario 2021: Breeloom

Not really surprised here once again I do really really love Lucario it just got switched over to my favourite steel type this time around

Rock - 2020: Lycanroc (dusk form) 2021: Lycanroc (dusk form)

I am truly not that obsessed with most rock types but Lycanrock just looks cool and the colours of it's dusk form are by far the prettiest

Ground - 2020: Phanpy 2021: Phanpy

PHANPY IS BABY (I think that says it all)

Flying - 2020: Talonflame 2021: Talonflame

Definitely still my favourite starter bird

I just really have a soft spot for the little caterpillar ever since it was the first Pokemon figurine I ever owned and since I really don't like that many bug Pokemon this one was quite an easy choice

I work in simple ways: I don't love a lot of poison types but I do love Gengar a whole lot

Dark - 2020: Umbreon 2021: Umbreon

Of course my no. 2 favourite Pokemon had to be on this list again too

Ghost type is really a tough one to choose cause I love a lot of them

Like you really can't expect me to definitely choose between Mismagius, Dusknoir, Gengar, Chandelure and Spiritomb

But I do feel like Spiritomb might be the most underrated/forgotten of the bunch

Ice - 2020: Lapras 2021: Weavile

Like I said when talking about water types I really do love Lapras too but Weavile is just so cool (pun intended) too

Who knows maybe I'll choose Frosslass next time cause I love that one too

Steel - 2020: Aegislash 2021: Lucario

This one is actually one of the biggest surprises from 2020 me I think

Don't get me wrong Aegislash is really cool with its unique abikity and everything but I somehow just gradually forgot it even existed I guess

Dragon - 2020: Dragonair 2021: Garchomp

Actually considered choosing Dragonite instead of Garchomp this time but just couldn't resist the land shark in the end

There are a few other dragon types I really adore too so this mighz change again as well

Fairy - 2020: Togekiss 2021: Togekiss

I just loved my competetive serene grace ultra annoying cheesy Togekiss I used in the X/Y era way too much to choose something else here

So in conclusion I did have some changes but most of them didn't surprise me in any way

Also I feel like my love for Gen 4 and my excitement for the remakes showed a little more this time around lol

For Marcel his Ace Pokémon would be Roserade simply because it is a masked chevalier made of roses.... that is 100% Floramore aesthetic!

His buddy pokemon would be Cutiefly, because a small fairy poking out of Marcel hair to shake it's tinny fist at thought who make him flustered gives me life.

He definitely has a Happiny who wants to help him when he is attending to a patient.

He picked up a Rotom while on Innistrad who just kind of tagged along, and do to Marcel's love of baking had take it's heat form.

Next he has a Banette another pick up from Innistrad, as aspects of it reminded him of home.

Lastly he has a Meganium a staple from his home plane.

Niphorbis has a Minior in every color and a shinny. They are all his grandbabies, they all have nicknames and he can always tell who is who even with their rock shells on.

Nivel team is a mix of animated object like Pokémon and sound/music themed Pokémon. I could see him being on a quest for Meloetta.

His team consist of: Bronzong, Chimecho, Claydol, Low key Toxtricity, Polteageist and an Kricketune

Shepherd would have a mix of pokeomon that evolve through friendship Like Crobat and Umbreon, misunderstood pokemon like Absol and Mimikyum, as well underrated helper Pokemon like Alomomola and Indeedee.

As the soul of a boros colored old walker, now harbored in the stone of a golem, Serrabeth would have a mix of old school fighting types. Some fossil mons and a ghost sword because she was a mercenary before she had her spark!

So a Hiymonlee, Hitmonchan, Aerodactyl, Arctozolt, Tyrunt and Aegislash

Baba Yule... what can I say... my witchy tree walker has witchy Pokémon..

A pair of Castform do to their connection to their home as the weather. A Luxray and Slowking both are regal Pokémon one know for it's ferocity the other it's intelligence. My sheepy boy of the dreaming world Dillon whould have apropreate themed Pokémon.

Lucky Egg: Your gym theme/team

Hmmmm I like the idea of a restaurant theme :0 It would be sorta like Galar gyms where once you enter you can’t leave until you win or lose. So you could order food that might heal your pokemon or make them resistant to certain types of damage. I would probably have a good amount of fairy types too cause fairy’s cool

Ultra Ball: Favorite Pseudo-legendary(ies)

Garchomp and Hydreigon are two that I really love, but an underrated pseudolegendary I love is Metagross (or maybe not underrated but at least underused since Metagross is so hard to get in most games) the typing is really nice and its stats are off the charts. I’ve only ever been able to use one Metagross in USUM, but they were so cool and one of my favorite pokemon I’ve raised.

Master Ball: Favorite Legendary(ies)

I would say Lugia, Azelf, Suicune, and Entei! Mostly just personal enjoyment since I’ve never really used any legendaries aside from Yveltal, which I wasn’ta huge fan of. There are a lot of other good ones that I’m forgetting though I know it lol

Ok so seeing the Detective Pikachu movie with very little knowledge of Pokemon was interesting but now I have ideas about the boys

UT!Sans: ostensibly there's no strategy to how he collects Pokemon. He insists he just picks the one he thinks are neat or that fit with his aesthetic. Given that his favorite is a Snorlax that chills on his couch more often than in the ball, that seems to hold up. However, an experienced trainer will realize that his team is surprisingly versatile and well-equipped to deal with pretty much every type of trainer. He can't bring the thunder, per se, but he can exploit weaknesses with an expert's eye.

UT!Papyrus: loves Pokemon with every bone in his body. At one point he thought he wanted to be a trainer, but with Undyne's help he realized pretty quickly he doesn't really enjoy having his Pokemon fight full time (though the occasional sparring match is good for the soul!) Instead, he now applies that love in a medical context, caring for the Pokemon of trainers who stop by. In a way he prefers this, because he gets to interact with all kinds! The one constant is a Spritzee he keeps on hand for quick heals and to help calm down agitated Pokemon (and, more often than not, their trainers). When not healing Spritzee perches on his shoulder. Also there's an inexplicable Exeggutor that's just kind of....there. at his clinic. Watching...

UF!Sans: alright, so not exactly reinventing the wheel here, but what can he say, fire type just fits his aesthetic. Not to mention that when someone's trying to start shit nothing resolves the matter faster than a fireball to the face. Red's team is small, but scrappy. Most of his Pokemon have been with him for years and have the battle damage to prove it. But with those scars come knowledge, to the point where they rarely need verbal cues to find out what he wants. Also, don't let the penchant for pyrotechnics fool you. He fights hard, but he fights smart. His real babies are a big ol fuck off Charizard that he's had since he was a kid, and a rough and tumble Arcanine that barely leaves his side.

UF! Papyrus: Ground type. True, versatility can be a strength, but the thing about Edge is that he's incredibly stubborn. Not to mention he would rather do one thing really really well than a bunch of things only ok. Like Red, he's had his Pokemon a long time, to the point of a perfected strategy, but their relationship isnt the same affectionate pet owner style as Red. Edge has what some might call a deep regard for his Pokemon. They are his co-workers, his allies, not his pets or his family. To keep a dragon aesthetic matching with his older brother he favors a Garchomp, but his dream is to get a Nidoking. I mean who can argue with that aesthetic??

US!Sans: electric type, with a little ice for flavor. Blue loves fighting in Pokemon battles, loves weighing strengths and weaknesses and pulling out the unexpected to pull ahead. Electric types are good for speed (a must for Mr. Sonic the Skeleton) and Ice supplements the weaknesses of electric (not to mention really ties the whole aesthetic together. Blue never fights with the same team twice, putting together his Pokemon in dozens of combinations. He has a Plusle and Minun that he rarely uses in actual battles but who chill on his shoulders (when they're not getting up to mischief).

US! Papyrus: always one to root for an underdog, Stretch was born a bug and plant Stan and he'll die a bug and plant Stan. Not the least of which for the weed jokes, but he also thinks they're pretty underrated, meaning that he can surprise people. Also, the weed jokes. Blatantly taking inspiration from BDG I'm saying his baby is a Tangela, but he also has a Bulbasaur that naps with him. He's more of a Pokemon researcher than a fighter, but he can hold his own if needs be.

SF!Sans: Fighting and Dark type. The man knows his brand, and he sticks to it. It's hard for Black to pick up new pokemon: he doesn't take it unless he's certain he'll bond. Once he does, though, it's for life. Black is extremely careful with his Pokemon, watchful of their needs and quick to listen. Now, if only he could do the same for other people....I'm inclined to agree with @torrikor that he definitely owns a Pancham and if anyone calls it cute, he'll deck them. Fighting type may not be the flashiest, but it gets the job done. Just like Black himself.

SF!Papyrus: Poison, Psychic, and a little Ghost to taste. Rus prefers to win fights, not with flashy moves, but by turning his opponent against themselves, making their own body a weakness to exploit. His Pokemon don't tend to be very well behaved: they steal his stuff, act out, destroy stuff. And unless they're bothering Black he tends not to curb that behavior. In a way, though, this license he gives them makes them loyal. They're there when he needs them, and they've never let him down. The one he's had longest is a Gastly that hovers constantly, mixing with the cigarette smoke to form pretty much a perpetual fog. Basically, don't fuck with Rus

Why must they do this to Shedinja? It deserves a better shiny than this. Don’t believe me? Here’s a game: Which one is shiny? I’ll use the 3D models as the 2D ones aren’t coming back anytime soon.

Honestly it kinda makes me sad that shiny Shedinja isn’t on any “worst shiny” videos as it’s basically getting the same treatment as Garchomp, who is known for having a horrible shiny, by the way. 

If I were to give Shedinja a shiny, I’d turn it into a deep silver. Turning an already golden bug more gold barely makes a difference. The gold works for it’s evolution’s line, don’t get me wrong, but it honestly just sucks that this underrated little guy gets this kind of treatment. They even gave this thing “Final Gambit” as a joke! Shedinja should have batter than that. The only good thing this guy has gotten is his ability.
