I am so upset over the Gaud "discourse" (bullying) I can't sleep, so here is me running through the "reciepts" because every time Gaud talks someone jumps on and attacks..

A little perspective, I had never heard of @biggest-gaudiest-patronuses until last month. So I'm not an avid follower, I didnt participate in Gaudapocolpyse, or watch any of the livestreams- I just hate bullying and railroading. I am a female Autistic Jew who has survived childhood sexual abuse (and I'm adding that because of some of the stuff people are accusing Gaud of).

I went through the "reciepts" you can find on biggest-gaudiest-callout the updated version as of January 27, 2019 and I made notes. So buckle up cause this is going to be a long post. Bear with me I am on a cell phone so there will probably be a plethora of grammar and spelling errors. Here goes:

-the callout starts by stating that Guad is 27 and has a mostly minor fanbase this statement is made on the assumption that tumblr is 13+ and Guad makes "teenage humor" whatever that means, I'm a legal adult and I like the jokes, and one anon stating that they and their friends are 13/14. So it is just flat out assuming and you know what they say about assuming.

-next it states that Gaudpocalypse was a protest for the NSFW ban, which isn't true. It actually started because a person commented about an actual holiday (I believe in Catholasism) that had to do with pink that fell on the day. It was in the works before tumblr announced the change, so this was flat out bad fact checking.

-Gaud also commented that the "sexy" fan art they were expecting was Patrick Star in fishnets type stuff. They used NSFW, because as a fellow autistic they were taking it literally to mean Not Safe For Work, so not something you'd want to explain to a boss or co-worker- not porn.

-They have already addressed the Tuba fanfic, which is also not porn.

-Taking "age is just a number. a number estimating your proximity to death." to be pedophile related are purposely ignoring Guad's morbid death humor that they are known for.

-If we are vilifying people for reading yaoi, add me to the list. I went through a hard SasuNaru phase and not even 5% of it was G rated. (and you know what, I was a minor when I got into it and now that I've aged out of minorhood doesnt mean that I instantly stop liking what I liked).

-Shota: I went through a phase where I read rape, pedophilia, and even incest fanfics. And you know what, it was actually encouraged by my therapist. Sometimes people look at dark things because they are trying to work through their trauma. Now I don't know Guad's past, I don't know if there was abuse or anything, but either way: reading a manga, a fanfic, or even watching anime does not make you an abuser or pedophile. Sometimes it is a person the pedophile left behind trying to take control or figure things out. (The comparison is like saying that people that read James Patterson are serial killers or that only perverts watch Law and Order SVU).

-P.S. stop calling manga child porn. It cheapens what child porn actually is and the victims of it.

-"Recommending" Big Mouth on Netflix, personally I haven't watched a single episode, but it seems about the same level as South Park. It isnt meant for kids. And it obviously got approved by Netflix, so take it up with them if you don't like it.

-Okay hot take, apparently saying you don't want MAPs interacting with you coupled with wanting to know if someone is over 18 before you find them attractive makes you a pedophile- makes sense /sarcasm

-As a Jew, the whole sumptuary laws post was witty word play not antisemitism that Gaud wasnt even the OP for. (although the laws themselves are hella antisemitic, or at least were used for that purpose.) ((still doesnt make the two equal)).

-Wearing a kimono is not racist- I think you need a dictionary and a lesson on racism.

-Autism and Asexuality; Guad's post was about figuring yourself out and said "people on the autism spectrum are significantly more likely than general populace to identify as asexual or aromantic" - this is statistically accurate, there is no ableist statement here. They did not say all Autistics are asexual or that Autistics can't have romantic or sexual relationships, Gaud simply stated a fact and it was said in a post about themselves ans trying to figure out what they are.

-Reblogging a 12 year olds address for furbies, yeah not a good or smart decision and Gaud deleted the post. Nothing else can be done about it now and this happened over a year ago and as far as I've seen Gaud learned for the mistake ans hasn't done anything like that again.

-The Discord Server. Gaud asked for the server to be taken down. People are blaming Guad because they created the server and when they left things went south. The users were breaking Discord ToS and doing horrible things. However l, blaming Guad because they created the server is like blaming Ford for drunk drivers because they made the car.

-Canabalism- this is laughable. 98% of the time Gaud is posting as an incorpreal eldritch being...just really look at the blog as a whole and ask yourself if you're making smart conclusions.

-The "crayon fiasco": Guad raised money to eat a crayon on livestream. People have taken issue with this for a variety of reasons. 1) "Gaud said the money was for rent and bought champagne" no, no they didnt, that was a joke. The money was indeed for rent, the cheap champagne was bought with a gift card. 2) "The money could have gone to medical expenses or someone in need." People are allowed to give and not give however they see fit. This arguement is about as strong as standing in front of a movie theater and shouting that the patrons should donate their money to food banks instead of watching a show and when they still go watch the movie calling the movie evil forexisting. 3) "Gaud is manipulating minors into giving them money" first of all most minors don't have that much money and I see it no more manipulative (actually I see it way less manipulative) than my sister asking my mom for money for Club Penguin. It is paying for entertainment which we do all the time and I still have yet to see the stats that it is "mostly minors".

I'm just over everyone railroading and bullying Gaud. When Guad does apologize for something people start screaming that the apology is manipulation. You have made a situation where there is no winning. Gaud ignores the callouts and you don't like. Gaud asks for information on some of the accusations and they get called names. Gaud apologizes ans gets accused of manipulating. What do you honestly want? You have built an argument on stunted facts, and just scream loud enough and long enough trying to get Guad to break. People have already started blocking Guad based on the telephone game of rumors and "reciepts" that I just went through. Enough is enough. If you don't want to follow Gaud or read their posts that is up to you, but just be quiet already. In the words of Frozen "Let It Go".

@biggest-gaudiest-patronuses if you want me to take this down I will, it is your business after all. I just couldn't stand idly by and watch what these people are doing.

Alright!! I’ve gone looking for more sources and information on my perspective on gaud from a few amazing people and I’ve only got the following to say:

I completely understand where gaud supporters come from! I do, I honestly get it. Especially when I did misgender them once without knowing they now go by they/them. I have since adjusted this and removed all posts that misgender them for their sake.

However

Im still not comfortable with them, their content, or their followers

It’s not because of the sexy-gaud thing, or the fanfic (??????¿) or whatever else: it’s because they’ve interacted with people who are known maps and people who romanticize and fetishize cannibalistic content

But, on top of that: they’ve gone out of their way to at least try and remove this content from their blog, and out of minors sights. That, I can appreciate! If they’re doing what they can to improve themselves or clarify that some things were intended as jokes- I do understand and I don’t hold it against them

But, I’m still very uncomfortable with it

Even if they didn’t mean it, even if they removed it: I’m not okay with it.

A lot of the content I saw that was under the callout post were extremely large triggers for me as a victim of cocsa and csa: and even if gaud didn’t know it, me knowing at some point they exposed that to minors unknowingly is enough to send me in a spiral. That has nothing to do with them: but it affects me.

Why hello, I'm surprised you managed to find this. Now, you can keep scrolling if you want, I'm just here to give my opinion on something that is currently highly controversial.

I believe this whole 'Gaud discourse' thing is stupid. I know, I'm a nobody and it shouldn't matter what my opinion is. But I'm still going to put it out there and I am fully prepared for backlash if anyone is to find this.

Honestly, here's how I see it: people are fighting over a decent shitposter/blogger who in my honest opinion, has not done anything terrible. I might not have all the facts, and I might not see it from other peoples points of views, but honestly, you guys are really doing this? Don't we have something more productive to do, maybe, I don't know... making the world a better place? Now there's an idea. I know, it's not in human nature to get along, but can't we drop this and find something else to do? We all should take a step back, reassess, and move on with our lives.

This whole thing is causing unnecessary stress for them. I know, not everyone loves the 'eldritch being' but we're all people here, why not treat each other with basic human decency?

Okay, you say that all of this stuff about Gaud, but looking at your sources, they don't look particularly credible. I mean, discord server text logs can be faked, and I don't even think Gaud HAS a discord server. And besides, comparing what you've said to what Gaud has posted, I see a lot of HUGE discrepancies between what's been claimed, and what Gaud's actually said. Besides, they're a Horror writer, why would their audience be a bunch of minors?

Tbh, I’m fine with you not believing those sources, but a callout gaining this much traction against a popular tumblr user seems to cement its credibility, at least for me anyways. Sure it’s extremely easy to fake discord logs, but its just as easy to delete a discord server, so while they might not have it now, its entirely possible they had it in the past. It’s also just as easy to delete tumblr posts so gaud could’ve posted those posts in the past and then simply deleted them when after the callout was made. As for why’d their audience be minors if they’re a horror writer, gaud’s blog was not flagged as nsfw so minors could simply follow them for their “funny jokes” instead of the horror aspect of it. I even happen to personally know a few people who are both minors and followed the gaud blog when it was still around (and a couple who are into horror writing but they werent involved with gaud at all), but i wont be naming names since they have nothing to with this and have since distanced themselves from gaud fully, so its up to you to believe me on that front.So once again, I am a minor, I’m not smart enough to go data-digging or whatever to find the real “truth.” However, everything that’s been claimed makes me distrust gaud enough that their presence makes me extremely uncomfotable. So please, if you truly want to defend them, just block or unfollow me. This is a blog about Lily Hoshikawa, and I don’t want to flood my followers with discourse.

okay so I mean I really dont mind the discourse over Gaud and everything but what I do mind is when people absolutely blow up an then stand by it. Like a good example? There was a discourse post in which someone called them out for wearing a kimono and because they were drunk dancing, it was racist. They made a big deal about it at first but then apologized because Gaud didnt understand that it could be perceived as racist. That is good, okay? not just blowing up and after someone gives a reason as to why they did not understand or some other acceptable reason continuing to stand by it.

Why are some of you so against... other people having fun? I just don't get the recent "gaud discourse"? They set a goal of donations for them to eat a crayon, which they then used for rent - the disguise so people wouldn't feel guilty about not donating to an emergency. They post some cryptid remarks, some jokes dint quite land bit kids there even one person advise jokes land perfectly every time? I just really dislike the "it isn't to my tastes so it's bad"

Not to hijack the post but honestly, I don’t see the problem with this kind of humor. On this site, we’re all just icons and nameplates. No one is EVeR going to know what’s behind the mask.

People are tearing at popular shitpost blogs just to grab a few notes, and honestly, it’s kind of getting old.

The whole gaud thing? Yeah maybe they shouldn’t have eaten crayons (bc honestly was canNot be good for you what were you thinking), but suddenly everybody hates them for it, despite them being (at least in their appearance on this site) incredibly kind and uplifting. “Oh but people are calling him a God and stuff and that’s really arrogant and gross” First of all, that’s a joke, and it’s better than the garbage races to see who can hate themselves the most.

Personally Gaud has been a source of positivity for me, with all of the anti-depression and anarchial self love, and seeing people hate them actually made me feel bad, too. All the people who look up to them suddenly feel bad and wrong just for thinking positive things about the funny pink blog.

This happens to everyone on the Internet with a significant following. Sometimes jokes that seem “arrogant” are a coping mechanism, or maybe they’re not but in the end isn’t it better to hyperbolically lift yourself way up than to constantly tear yourself down? Everyone gets the whole “Dont Put Them On a Pedestal” treatment and I am sick of it.

Of course you shouldn’t people on pedestals, but pretending that they shouldn’t be allowed to make mistakes is putting them on a pedestal too. You’re saying they’re not human. Anyone could be behind the mask, but news flash; YOU DONT KNOW THEM EITHER. You. Do. Not. Get. To. Make. Judgement. Calls. About. Their. Character.

Most of the allegations I found were from this document. Please proceed with caution - the contents could potentially be triggering. There is a TLDR on the top of the first page that lists potential triggers.  It would be unfair if I only gave you the allegations - biggest-gaudiest-patronuses responded to the allegations in the ‘discourse tw’ tag on their blog, which I will link here. Why should we not donate to gaud?

there was discourse about it a little while back, basically they run a discord server where they let people get away with really sketchy shit. they also apparently said the n word and accused anyone who called them out on it as race faking

i put that disclaimer in the tags any time i reblog a post from them indirectly because i love some of the topics they make posts about but i don't trust them as a person.

Being wrong is hard work. We as people like to be right and correct all the time. Being wrong feels....well wrong. You feel ashamed for your mistakes and like total shit when you’re wrong. We strive to always be correct and right all the time, but you’re never going to be right all the time. Hell, even as I’m typing this I know I’ve been wrong and time to time I fuck up. 

But see, I and many other people change frequently. I am not the same person i was when I started this blog back in 2014. I’m much more aware of the consequences of my actions as I’ve grown up and matured and am more aware of fuck ups I make. Changing and growing up is hard, and many people are stubborn and don’t want to do it. Taking accountability has to put them in this awkward confrontational spot that makes them actually take responsibility and they don’t want to do it.

With that in mind, I’m here to say shut the fuck up. So what? You’re wrong. Admit that you fucked up. Apologize. Take responsibility for what you did an become a better person.

The elephant in the room is obviously Gaud. This is not their first time up to the tumblr discourse bat, and while, yes, sending death threats is a little extreme, fans of Gaud seem to think that’s all that is happening. But it’s not. People just want accountability. They want Gaud to just apologize cleanly for lesbophobia and saying the nword while Gaud is not black.

But Gaud either refuses to apologize cleanly or just, dismisses all criticism as angry trolls who are TERFs (their fans did this more than Gaud themself did) or not really black ("Due to the details of call out culture, it’s difficult for me to ascertain if any of the criticism I’ve begun receiving is from actual black voices, or if (as I suspect) it is almost entirely from the group of trolls who have been targeting my blog over the last few months, and appropriating minority voices as an excuse. I am very ready to listen to feedback and criticism about the post in question, but from black voices specifically. If I was disrespectful, I want to fix that. But I’m damn tired of trolls speaking for (and erasing) minority voices as an excuse to harass people online.“).

The first apology regarding the lesbophobia was okay in theory. However, their tags say and I quote “#the only purpose of these dumbass shitposts is to make people laugh #while also feeling the need to check under the bed for monsters” which seems a little disingenuous, as if to say “i don’t know why everyone is so mad, these were just jokes”

No you may be wondering why I said in theory this apology was good. Well this reply popped up calling angry and upset lesbians abusive shitheads and Gaud basically agreeing with what they said. Yeah real fucking sorry huh. Not to mention basically pubically posting the urls of angry lesbians who were rightly felt mad at their lesbophobia as “hatemail”.

Their second more recent apology was even worse. If we’re not counting how they basically don’t believe many people criticizing them were not black they don’t even apologize for using it. They say “I chose not to censor the word when copying the quote b/c Sam purposely uses it as a powerful final note to her speech, and at the time I was concerned that censoring it would be dishonest, and catering to white discomfort.” This is excusing it, it’s not even an apology. They even start the post with “ I’ve been accused of using the N word.“ as if they don’t even know what the problem is. And they use it again in that “apology post! They basically learnt nothing!

This is also not addressing the female socialization comment they made which is transmisogynistic. Specifically in the tags of this post (now deleted) said “ #i’m nonbinary but i’ve been socialized and perceived female my whole life which means there is a huge overlap bt the female experience and my experiences.” Whether Gaud meant to or not, this in itself is transmisogynistic, as TERFs use it to say trans women are not real women since they have been “male socialized” instead of female socialized. I am not a trans woman myself, so my knowledge is pretty limited, however the callout I have linked in the bottom of this post does go into it in more detail in the transmisogynist section

So why did they delete the tags? Well, they made this post after deleting said tags. You may notice that isn’t apology, this is an attempt to garner sympathy.  And before you say it, yes Gaud made an apology in the replies of the original post they made. But why only in the replies? Just posting a really shitty post that is like “well these meanies don’t like me because I can’t apologize correct!” just makes people like you even less.

Finally, in this post they admit they cannot take criticism. But this reply sucks. They say they’ve never learned how to process criticism from their parents/adults (ignoring the fact that responding to criticism depends on you specifically and also they literally just shifted the blame of them no being able to do as their parent’s fault what???). They also say they can’t reply correctly to criticism because of “angry scrutiny & criticism from anonymous internet users who may or may not already have decided I’m irredeemably”. Which is like...huh? You can’t reply to criticism because people don’t like you for the thing that they’re criticizing you for? What are they supposed to do then? Gaud also employed self-deprecation “Or I’m a shitty garbage person who should delete their blog." and specific tags such as “im sorry for bumming ya’ll out” which is more of a cry for sympathy than an actual apology.

In conclusion, Gaud needs to learn how to apologize and handle criticism. They need to realize that people who is criticizing them is not a hater out to get them, and have valid critiques. Sometimes people are going to be angry, but you can’t dismiss someone because they’re angry at you. As someone who is autistic as well, I understand that communication can be difficult but you need to take responsibility regardless. As I said earlier, just admit that you fucked up. These wishy washy and sympathy grabbing replies aren’t going to cut it.

Not everyone is going to like you Gaud. Not everyone is going to forgive you. And that’s okay! I think personally if you apologized without trying to make yourself seem like the person who’s been wronged more people would see that as a step in the right direction. It’s just so far, every attempt Gaud has made has not done that as I’ve explained.

And to Gaud’s fans, wanting Gaud to properly apologize is not callout culture. It’s wanting an adult to take responsibility for their actions.
