Maybe I'm slow on the uptake here... But I was thinking abt the Creature we made in Episode 1, and wondering what the hell it was like under the perception filter ..
Tumblr media
..Like it's so silly, right? It's just a goofy guy. But we know from Sneeg's death towards the end of the episode that it is Very much capable of killing something Horribly. And then I thought to myself, "Hmm, what other creature have we seen that seems relatively mindless, just going after whatever is closest and murdering the shit out of it?"
And then I realized.

I'm gonna be honest, I don't think gl!ranboo really died
I mean sure, we did iron maiden their fucking head and he sure LOOKS like he's dead, but gl!Charlie literally got his organs ripped out of his body and gl!Sneeg got eaten by our monster creation. If Hench can bring them back after gruesome murders, he can DEFINITELY bring Ranboo back too
I don't think our hero is saved yet.

Genloss Theory #2
More Theories
Well, back again back again! Here for another theory. This one is a bit more solid and may be accepted as canon for all I know but I’ve seen some debate. Keep in mind, this is my personal theory, it may be completely wrong.
So, we all remember the scene in Episode 3 when Hetch has “died” and Ranboo stabs an employee only for wires to come out instead of blood. The generally accepted understanding is that the employees bleed wires. Which does make sense but I’m here to offer a possible counter explanation. He’s just not seeing the blood.
Earlier in the episode, Ranboo and Charlie find an employee who was killed by Security:
Tumblr media
Clearly he’s bleeding real blood and not wires. There is the argument to be made that he simply hasn’t been under Showfall’s control long enough to be filled with wires but I have another idea: this is what really happened and when we saw the employee bleed wires, that wasn’t real.
We already know, based on Ranboo’s stream, that the video turning more cinematic is meant to show that Showfall is still in control and Ranboo just no longer sees the cameras. So, what if the employee who bled wires was actually bleeding real blood but Ranboo was back under control enough to only see wires? It would explain the discrepancy between this employee and the other.
Just like how, in Episode 2, Charlie “bled” slime because everyone’s perception was controlled by Showfall, the employee in Episode 3 bleeds wires because Showfall is exerting their control again.
That’s my theory anyways, could be wrong. If anyone has anything to add, feel free to comment or reblog!

I'm going to rant about random genloss theories and shit ok
Let's start with ranboo. His first memory is the cabin right? But that's back when hetch was dying. In a bts thing he said that their memories came back when the mask was flashing. The mask didn't start flashing in ep 3 until they were in the box. It lit up the second hetch appeared in the doorframe to drag them into the box room. I think they gave him his memories back so they'd remember their entire past and beg for us to kill them. I think they would have rathered us kill them because that'd be easier on them. And by them I mean showfall media. And hear me out. We didn't have a choice in it at all. We've already seen that they can bring people back to life. Charlie came back multiple times and said himself that "I can die as many times as I want" (or smth along those lines) in ep 1. It just keeps repeating over and over and showfall can bring them back as many times as they want. Remember the showfall media employee that ranboo killed? That's their job in the show. Every time this happens, every time the hero goes through to save the day, that one in particular gets killed. Why do I say that? That one bleeds wires okay. While we're at it there's another smaller theory I have about security. Security has been rebuilt so many times and has progressively become worse and worse and worse because yk that's what generation loss means, the loss in detail or quality over time. Like if you took a picture of something on a phone, took a picture of that picture, took a picture of that picture, and so on. The quality will drop. That's generation loss. (In case you reading this didn't already know that lol) Anyway security has been rebuilt so many times that it has become a wire monster without much structure. Plus, Ranboo said during the genloss panel at vidcon that there was pieces of flesh in security. That implies that they were once human, but have been rebuilt progressively worse over such a long period of time that the humanity left in them has become nothing but little bits. That showfall media employee has much of it's humanity left, but it bled wires, meaning it has been rebuilt at least a few times before. Another thing is that we don't see anybody but Ranboo and Hetch bleed. Ethan's blood was shown sure, but he wasn't in the frame so how can we really know it's his. Anything could be props for the show. (If we saw anybody else bleed please remind me in the comments btw) I feel like this might be Ranboo's first show. As for Hetch, I'd love to believe he's a good guy, and I kind of do. I just think he's just like the Puzzler probably was. Likely from whatever reality Ranboo was from, just taken and forced to be part of the show. The reason the Puzzler wasn't revived was because he wasn't necessary for the rest of the show. Anybody who wasn't revived was likely revived after the fact with their memories wiped. Speaking of wiped memories, I never got back to that thing I was saying about Ranboo and their memories. I believe that they gave him his memories so that he'd beg for death so they wouldn't have to drag him away and kill him later. The choice was nothing but an illusion. Ranboo was destined to make it to the end, inevitably die and have his memories wiped in the process, and then start all over again. I feel like this was Ranboo's first show. They seem the most aware, the most awake, the most human. Everyone else feels a little robotic. As if they're reading from a script. I feel like this may be Sneeg's second or third show, I think Charlie's been in it for a while, and I think the Puzzler and the one's trapped by him in ep 2 have been there the longest. And remember, as cute as Squiggles may be, he's not on our side. The little man was FUMING when Ranboo broke out of the electric chair. He is nothing but a little bit of comedic relief put there by showfall to keep us company. I also feel like we may be just as imprisoned by showfall as the others. We aren't the ones showfall is entertaining. We're forced to stand behind a one way mirror and watch as our heroes fail again and again and again.
To make us feel worse about it, we're given the illusion of choice. 10,000 chance that we chose the right key and we did? Yeah right Jerma. All those times we had to choose where they went next? He still would have ended up doing the same things no matter what in different orders. Tipping over Charlie's grandma's ashes? What would that have done to change the overall storyline, really. Change a few dialogues? Wow how interesting. Our choice does not matter. Ranboo and the others are stuck in this infinite loop of illusions, fake choices, death, and most importantly of all, entertainment. Hetch said his job is to find people "from your world" to be the puppets of showfall's show. I feel as though the hero of this show wasn't always Ranboo. It could have once been Sneeg, or Charlie, or maybe even WAYYY back it could have been security. As time progresses, people's roles change. Except Hetch. His one role is to find people for the show. I think Hetch may have been one of the first that showfall found for their show. He finds people, tests them, and puts them to work for the viewer's entertainment. Kind of. I mean he's not really the one putting them to work, that's the founder. Kill the founder yk? Remember that? That's the only way to stop the loop. He's the one dragging this on and on and on. The "kill button"? Yeah that didn't do anything, really. He was supposed to make it to the button. Everything happened just as planned, just as it was scripted. I think that the only way for them to break out is for us to get out of where we are trapped and go stop them. Break them free of showfall's control. We're the variety. We make decisions that don't affect the overall outcome of the show and that simply change trivial parts of the entertainment. Forced to sit and decide on things that won't change the outcome. Unless we stop making the decisions they give to us and instead breaking free from the pointless clicking and deciding, nothing will change. The choices they provide us won't change the outcome. To change the outcome, we'd have to make our own choices. For the sake of our heroes and all the heroes that will come to be, break free the actors and kill the founder.

i can't sleep because of what just happened but anyway (btw idk if someone has already talked about this)
do yall remember one of the first teaser that we got right at the start of generation loss, like a couple of months ago? ranboo was saying something like "yeah i just found some tapes, i have to find out how they work" or something like that
based on the ending of the masterpiece we've seen tonight (the part with the tapes) it's probable that ranboo (from the audio) has just seen this shit with us so does it mean that he escaped and forgot all that has happened and has just found these tapes or is it the 'original' ranboo that has found out about the social experiment??
what do you guys think? i'm no great theoriest, i am just sleep deprived and i was having flashbacks of the fist genloss teasers

"if you have any information on these individuals, don't hesitate to call. we thank you for your cooperation during these times"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"it already found him. it got everyone. everyone but me. i have to save them. i have to stop this."
what if they escaped before. they got out. and that's why they have to really die now. that's why it's no longer fake. that's why security was there. that's why they were so quick to "fix" sneeg when he woke up. that's why ranboo had to fail in escaping, to convince them and the audience that it's not possible. it's happened before and showfall won't let it happen again
but there's someone still out there. not hetch, it's clear he was just a red herring. there's someone intercepting showfall's messages and trying to get through to us
Tumblr media Tumblr media
they're trying to reach the audience, clearly desperate. and they want to reveal the truth. we're compliant, and they know it, so they're trying to change that
guys when i tell you my brain is WHIRRING about genloss

aaaAAA I'm on a roll now, I'm just spitting whatever comes into my mind about Generation Loss onto the table now. I love this show very much and I no longer care if people see these posts, I have too many thoughts and I'm writing them down :DD.
PART THREE: FRANK AND CHARACTER ORIGINS
I don't think Frank is a skeleton. We know he's a dude, right? There was that screenshot someone took of Frank's poster in Episode 3, let me see if I can find it.
Tumblr media
Here we are. In my search for this screenshot, I did come across a lot of posts that said very similar things to what I was going to say, which was that Frank might just be a rotting corpse they drag around with them, which is really quite insane. I said in my first post of this late-night frenzy of Genloss thinking that I'm not very good at drawing, and in 45 minutes that hasn't actually changed. But I have a very graphic view in my head, and it makes the point where Jerma fucken smacks Frank across the face and breaks his fucking neck or something, it makes it all a lot harder to stomach. It's a gruesome thing, and now I'm just worried about how exactly Frank died.
Sneeg likes him, so maybe he was once the main character, where GL!Ranboo is now? It would make sense, because he's in that cage thing with Sneeg, so they might've just both failed together, but Frank was never going to go beyond the first episode without dying.
OH SPEAKING OF THAT. This is where the "and character origins" part of the post comes from.
I want to talk about where the other characters came from. We see a bunch of them, and they all allude to being in this game for a while before we see this iteration with GL!Ranboo in the main role, but I also have other ideas.
OPTION ONE: they're all, strictly speaking, actors, and Ranboo's the one running through this completely blind. They all know their roles, they understand what they have to do to get the story moving along (Sneeg tackles Austin to get Ranboo through the moving cutout wall thing, for example), and they play those roles. That would explain why Charlie's in every episode: he's the Slime Demon, then he's Surfer Dude/Patient Slime, and then he's Charlie Slimecicle the Streamer. He's a recurring talent (maybe I'll write another thing about where I think GL!Charlie came from, when speaking about option one). They're all mind controlled like Ranboo is, with the same filter layered over reality (except on Austin, I think his malfunctioned which is why he looked so horrified in the clothes room with Ethan, and on the merry-go-round next to rotting corpse!Frank, and Sneeg when he was wearing the hat). They're briefed on their roles, and they follow them, but their main goal is to keep the story moving and get Ranboo to the end. Once again, I think GL!Austin's filter thingy doesn't really work, because he called Jerma "sick", he looked horrified and disgusted to sit next to a dead body, I think he was the only person to care that GL!Ethan had been, you know, brutally murdered, and he also tried to take Ranboo's place in the cutout room.
OPTION TWO: They've all been through the games before. They've all been the main characters, and they've now been moved into other roles with each repetition of the show. So GL!Sneeg was once the main character in Episode 1, and then he fucked up and was locked in the cage with Frank (who also was the protagonist, but then he, uh, well something went wrong and Showfall regrets this Tragic Accident), before Ranboo comes around.
Slimecicle was the main character in Episode 2 once, and he was about to lose the Mousetrap game in the Candy Room, so he ate the piece so the Puzzler couldn't blast him to pieces. Obviously it worked, but he was repurposed as another role, because they took that "oh it's in him" as a great premise for the next time this show went over. Now, our version of Genloss, where GL!Ranboo's the main character, this could happen right after Slime ate the piece, or it could be a while back, but Showfall liked the idea so much they just kept forcing Slime to eat the pieces and random shit, or they cut him open and put it all back inside. Either way, it's not pretty.
Option Two would explain why GL!Vinesauce says "I've done it before" when he asks Sneeg and Ranboo to throw him across the lasers. It would make sense for the first two episodes, where there are other characters and the storyline seems to be in control (as much as Hetch was manipulating Episode 3, Ranboo did have his own mind back and made his own decisions, like with rescuing Streamer Charlie Slimecicle), because for those, the plotline is simple, straightforward, with barely any variation. The characters can be recycled, it makes sense. However, I think accidents do happen, and sometimes, in the case of Frank, actors only get past one episode before, you know, dying. RIP Frank. Squiggles misses you.

I have a couple theories about genloss so strap in genlosers
1. If Charlie was really screaming during his surgery it means he wasn't brainwashed and saw everything happening. It was ranboo that heard him talking not slime talking
2. If slime didn't die on screen it (for me) means he is probably still alive if we had let ranboo live he might have been abel to find and save him
3. Ranboos mask was glowing during his crucification so he was controlled by showfall
And there that's it

// genloss spoilers, theories, derealization?
all of the correct answers for genloss were the ones on the right/the last answer except for the last one..
dogs(right)>wisdom(right)>death(right)>them(right)>yes(left)
on the fail screen for the last question, a secret message appears above the screen “you were never alone”. the “yes” option must have been on the left because it *wasnt true*. in the future, this could apply to further questions, like if the mysterious person behind the tapes was lying, or was incorrect, the “correct answer” would be on the left. this could be useful later on to tell whether or not the VHS text is lying, and then be able to tell why, how, or what theyre lying about.
this could be especially useful for finding nuances in things that may otherwise be surface-level and unimportant. remember one of the fail texts? “nothing is as it seems”. something is trying to help us see past the text of the tapes, perhaps even a person *in the screen.*
plum, how do we know thats a possibility?” WELL, DEAR READER. ranboo has a genloss playlist, and the common themes and motifs from this playlist can tell us a lot about how the story may be structured/where the plot can go. (thanks @/Daydark4k for the analysis image)
for example, cabinet man by lemon demon features a sentient arcade machine who dies when the machine is eventually destroyed. with the themes of scientific experimentation, this could mean that there was an experiment that trapped some sort of consciousness into the tapes.
loss of self would obviously be about going crazy trying to decypher a mystery and quite literally losing your physical body to a conspiracy or magical tape player. the person trapped inside so desperately wants out, and cant reach the outside world.
they got too cocky, too close to the truth. they were found out, and got thrown into the machine, most likely by the one we only know for now as The Founder. if the founder controlled the tapes, T_1 would make a lot of sense. the person trapped inside seems to think that if the founder was caught and/or killed, something would be able to help them. also in T_1, there was an image of a classroom. a red box over the teacher, white boxes on the students. odd, there was a static box on the person you killed to get the good ending.
what could this mean?? ever wonder why there was so much static on the screen?? why was the person you killed the only one without a definitive color, instead being static? its the VHS person. they were the ones you sacrificed for the good ending. you won the test.
the test? oh yeah, didn’t i mention a classroom earlier? a red box (possibly the founder, or a person in their employment) on the teacher, and white boxes on the students. wouldn’t it be funny if the color of the boxes means the amount of control the founder has?
white, blank slates. red, an overpowering color. in fact, the only color in any of the images shown in T_1. this test was given to the students. those that failed Lost, and those that won were converted to Reds. you can maybe tell that this is the case due to the end screen on the ? ending. you were told to not look away, and were congratulated. after a loud beeping noise and a screen filled with *red* the video ends. you, poor soul, were white. now, you’re good. you’re *red*.
notice how on the ending tapes some of the static turns red? the static of the VHS person is infected. theyre red, now. theyre trying so hard to escape, but nothing escapes the founder. remember the single photo from T_1?
that one picture of mitt romney with a red box over his face?? whats with that? romney is a poltitian, and a shady one at that. hes an *authoritarian*. he wants extreme governmental control over the people. odd, isnt this whole thing reminiscent of a controlling cult?
maybe the whole right v left thing was misleading for the first question for a reason? its a subjective question, and usually boils down to personal opinion. unless there really was something against cats shown later, its more safe to assume that its an introductory question that doesn’t matter all too much.
but i do think its important to note the fact that the “reasonable first question” is used. as someone pointed out to me, its a “foot in the door” thing, which is actually quite relevant to what i think genloss may be describing!
see, with quite a lot of cults, the main reason people get sucked in so well is that they use the fact that the people you interact with are just that, real people. they slowly introduce you to new “ideaologies”, try to skew your mind towards them.
its a subtle form of brainwashing, but a powerful one. if a participant went into the test blind, they would let their guard down for the first question, seemingly because its a normal, everyday question.
the ‘life vs death’ thing, although extremely philosophical, is also a relatively common question. from there, the questions get deeper and scarier, luring the subject in.
the whole “place frogs in hot water and theyll jump out, but put them in water that slowly heats and they wont get out and end up burning themselves alive” thing, while niche and not really scientifically accurate for the phrase (i’ll explain later) is honestly the best analogy i can think of.
the victims don’t know whats happening until it’s too late, or they never even notice at all. granted, the thing i referenced is from a scientific study of this one dude who took the brains out of frogs to see if they had souls, so… take that how you will lol.

KEYNOTE KEYNOTE KEYNOTE KEYNOTE LETS FUCKING GO
i knew it was a media company i mean that was obvious but still. i knew it was a shady business. but we learned things and fuck im so excited.
its giving off nintendo keynote vibes but the man in the suit is definitely the same man from connected and we will call him, showfall dude. showfall dude was seen in the little flash of the guy in the suit before it cut to the missing photos.
now we know that there is someone breaking through. SFM (showfall media) will be running the interactive experience but i think we will get breakthroughs from ppl in rebellion as we see in the keynote.
one of the curious things showfall dude said was “we have spent months developing, researching, and connecting with this new frontier”
i dont think we are the new workers, we are ordinary ass people in this world. when he talks about how our choices matter, i think in the live experience, it will seem like at the beginning that the people are actors (or criminals), so we are more likely to put their lives at risk. later we will realize that they are part of the rebillion. SFM says that they “found them” so i think they are missing people. which would explain the hotline saying how we cant help them anymore.
also now that ive looked through somethings, i realise the two people in the pictures might be sneeg and charlie. which would explain”familiar faces” thing showfall dude was saying. doesnt mean that they cant be part of the rebellion.
one of the og breakthroughs before SFM is cut off says “where is this signal going” which i assume it means the person, im calling them last hope is reallly fucking desperate. last hope makes the connection right after showfall dude says unexpected. last hope is trying to tell us something.
this is where we learn about gl!ranboo. he has been the guy that was warning us originally. he was the rebellious person from my last analysis. but SFM found him. an interesting thing last hope says is “i dont know who you are” after last hope talks about glranboo, they talks about how it (sfm) got everyone, which means it probably has almost quenched the rebellion. and they are the last one of the rebellion. i think they need our help to save their allies, and i think their allies are going to be put in this mindfuck of an interactive experience.
when showfall dude says big finale, there is a bunch of rapid editing, but on eof them is just a partially transparent grey picture of showfall dude looking fucking insane. whatever the finale is, it will be fucked up. and people will be hurt.
also the fact that the interactive experience is not just any experience, its a social experiment greatly correlates with how this will be and stuff. which means its so much more than an interactive experience.
last hope wants to stop the interactive experience because it will be the last thing SFM needs to do in order to crush the rebellion, and we, the audience, are their last hope.
like it said in the binary,
let the show begin

ok but besides rgbtrio whos your favorite genloss character and why
Okay okay . Hot take. But I gotta say Hetch.
Like I fuckin HATED him at first, right? Like the insane level of betrayal, the way he spoke to glRanboo at the end, just everything about how he operated is SO awful.
But the more I thought about him and ESPECIALLY the implications of him having a mask too - that he was probably under control just as much as glRanboo was - the more I realized like. How complex a character he is?
Like he has done terrible wrongs! And that does not change, he is still morally awful! But I love exploring the idea that he's still a victim just as much as any of the other cast members. He's still under Showfall's control.
Imagine being in his position. You're trapped in this endless series of shows, functionally immortal for as long as you fulfill your purpose. Decades upon decades of this shit. I feel like it stands to reason that he would 1. have become incredibly desensitized to the fact that he's experimenting on real people and 2. have a very vested interest in maintaining his comparatively pain-free position within the shows.
Does it excuse him? No, not at all. But it does make him an INCREDIBLY interesting contagonist within the story. I really hope we see him again in future generations.

it is nearly 1am i had random brain moment, i got thinking of the role of hetch specifically the ending was he part of the show? was he the leader? etc and then went back to the ending of ep 3 and listened to it to hear(paraphrased):
“the founder gave me the purpose many many years ago to repurpose this company and create these experiments to find who you in your world was worthy of joining the cast for forever…”
no im just having a thinkity think with my brain full of thoughts at nearly 1am but anyone getting the vibe this could be linked to ‘lostfield
is it the story of the founder and the beginning of what we know as showfall media??

Genloss Theory #1
More Theories
So, I’m gonna start writing these up on Tumblr to collect my thoughts. If you have comments, please let me know and I might add stuff. Also, SPOILERS.
So, theory 1: Crucifixion.
Tumblr media
In the last episode, we see Ranboo killed while being held in a pose reminiscent of a crucifixion. His head is held inside a box that’s kind of like an Iron Maiden (fun facts about that at the end) but his body is held with his arms out. Not a perfect visual but very similar.
The thing is, the crucifixion in Christianity is not a depiction of death or torture, as the concept may suggest considering its history as an execution method. It’s instead symbolic of salvation. In Christianity, it’s the salvation of humanity, but here it’s the salvation of Ranboo himself. It’s symbolic of his relief from the pain of death and rebirth he experiences in Showfall’s control. It’s religious in the sense that it’s release from the cycle of pain but it’s also religious in the sense that it’s salvation.
Not only that, but it’s also found in the fact that the crucifixion only symbolizes salvation as long as you believe in it’s efficacy and power. If you don’t believe in it, it remains solely a source of pain and death. But we believe in it being Ranboo’s release. We, the audience, listen to his pain, his fear, his cries for salvation, and give him what he yearns for. He believes it’s his salvation and we believe in it for him.
About the Iron Maiden thing. So, I learned recently that apparently Iron Maidens weren’t real torture/execution methods used in the middle ages. It was basically made up based on some historical precedent that is similar but not the same. But it became popularized and is now found in media quite commonly!

What if they wern't testing ranboo, what if they were testing us? At the end we saw 7 more tapes. What does this mean? Do we keep going? Is there more?
Also can I be 🌈 anon?
ofc you can!! i agree, i think that you’re right and that ranboo was a pawn in a much bigger game than we’re not fully aware of right now. in one of the youtube teasers when we had to make our first choices, they started off with “cats or dogs?” (and in TSE we get choices like “shark or lobster?” “you want a pickle in there?? sure” “who’s the most stylish?”) and then it gets darker and eventually we get choices like “who’s going to live, niki, sneeg, frank, vinnie, austin or ethan?” and in the inauguration “life or death” “you or him?” and if you pick yourself you lose. in the teaser ranboo had to die for you to move on.
it’s a test of our decision making and whether or not we are worthy of being inaugurated into the cast. and unfortunately i think we made the right decision.
