Digging up old art so Smol Essek can give a timely reminder to my fellow US folks! Yes, the power structures in this country seem entrenched and it sometimes feels like our votes are futile, but we can’t Leave The World Better with apathy. We gotta try.
Not sure who to vote for? Go to vote411.org and enter your address to see your races and candidates. Looking at endorsements is a fast and easy way to cut through word salad campaign talk and get a read on whether or not a candidate aligns with your views on the issues!
Also, don’t sleep on your local and judicial races! Most of the folks out showing their crazy on a state/national level got their start as members of city council or your local school board. Cockblock the crazy at the local level so they don’t get a foot in the door!

Voters in the USA, Election Day is in two days, on Tuesday, November 7th.
It's an off year, meaning no big presidential or congressional races are on the ballot (except a special election in RI) , but there may be local elections for things like school board, judges, and city council. These are usually low turnout races for positions that can have a big impact on your community, so your vote can make a big difference!
Edit: Ballotpedia doesn't show all races in all locations, so if nothing is turning up, check other sources. Try your state's election board. vote411.org also has a sample ballot lookup tool. (I'm not sure if it's 100% complete for every single race in the USA.)
I have nothing in my district and when I entered my address it said "check back closer to Election Day" but when I entered an address in a neighboring district the race did show up.
Ballotpedia has a tool where you can enter your address and get a sample ballot, showing all the races in your district(s) and the candidates running. If Nov 7, 2023 doesn't show up, and the first date you see is your state primary in 2024, then there are no elections you can vote in on Tuesday.
I hadn't heard about any of the races yet so I checked my address, and it turns out that's because there's nothing in my district this year! (But I did check another address that I know has something to confirm it wasn't just glitching when the date didn't even show up.)

i can appreciate loreen’s win a little more now that i realize that Käärijä will ALWAYS be a eurovision icon.
Just like how Verka didn’t win in 2007 but now is one of the most iconic Eurovision artists, I don’t think we can go another eurovision season without neon green boleros and piña coladas.
I’m very happy for Loreen and her historic win, but I will also stan our Finnish king Käärijä until the end of time.

Despite valiant efforts from the soldiers, we return from the battlefield empty handed and bloody.
Grady beat Brant.
I don't usually like to use strong language, but I am immeasurably disappointed and disheartened by the choices made by select members of this fandom. In the years I've spent within this space, I'd come to think of us as intellectuals, as visionaries, as those with the critical skills necessary to engage with the world around us in a deeper, more meaningful way than others. This space was a beacon of hope, where I knew my peers would engage with the media we found each other over in a productive and incisive manner.
Would there be chaos and fun mixed in with that? Of course. Analysis and academia are not complete without the full spectrum of possibilities, and the joy reaped from our descents into pageantry and madness are critical to our well-being and community. Those denying our intellectual nature in favor of the delights fail to realize they accompany each other, that they aren't exclusive. But I thought when it truly mattered, our efforts would be made with the clarity of a greater purpose. With the truth in mind: that Grady is not, and never will be, a sexyman.
I have been let down by this group of people I only yesterday was so proud to call my friends, my mutuals, my community. I hope the 52% of you who voted incorrectly, letting your hearts and minds be corrupted by biased, wishful thinking can take some time to reflect on your actions. And to do better next time.
Grady is not my sexyman.
(this is 100% not serious and is poking fun)

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
I can't go to sleep until I know the results of the election, but as long as I don't look at the results, I won't see that the UCP has fucking won again.
As of a few minutes ago, the UCP had won 43 of the 44 needed for majority, and were leading in 8 others.
I hate this province so much. I saw this coming, but hoped I was just being pessimistic, and reading the province in that light. I fucking hate being proved right, nothing good ever seems to come of that happening.
