Now that Enver and Elodie are married and knowing the lengths Enver will go to for Bane, would he be willing to "sacrifice" his own wife for his God? Not literally, but putting her in danger under Bane's command. We know he refused to go through the entire initiation protocol during his wedding to Elodie (her dress cough cough). Is his obsession with her greater than his obsession with Bane right now?
That is such an interesting question, dear anon 👀
First of all: Thank you 🩷 - I love getting to yap about this fic and I'm also pretty sure my beloved @heyitszev is also interested in the answer to this.
Short answer? Yes - he would be willing to sacrifice Elodie if Bane asked him to.
Long answer? It's a bit more complicated than that and involves a bit of lore 👇🏻
Enver’s reluctance to fully undress Elodie in order to burn her wedding dress stemmed not from compassion, but from possessiveness. To him, Elodie is his - his possession, his prize - and he refuses to expose her body, even partially, to anyone else (aside from Bane). Even the act of undressing her, no matter how symbolic, is something he jealously guards. That same possessiveness surfaces in chapter three when Astarion touches her shoulder, and even earlier when Enver learns she's rejected other men before him.
According to Faiths and Avatars, "Bane was to be feared by his faithful and even more feared by the unfaithful."
Enver may not have immediately stripped Elodie of her Lathanderian wedding dress, but he accurately pointed out that she had already given Bane what he demands most: submission and fear. By that point, the dress became secondary. Burning it served only as a symbolic assertion of dominance - a power play meant to reinforce superiority. And as Bane's Chosen, Gortash always gets the final word. Reasserting his own authority (particularly in front of the clergy), his divine right, is entirely in line with the tenets of the Church of Bane.
As for whether he would ever sacrifice her - be it through harm or even death - if Bane demanded it, the answer remains yes, as stated above, but it would bring him no satisfaction. Enver wants Elodie to obey because he has no desire to hurt her; in his mind, pain should be unnecessary if devotion is given freely. Still, that conflict between what he wants and what his god commands comes to a head in chapter five, when the conversation turns (spoiler alert) to the question of children, yet the underlying tension stays the same: Enver is devout, and when forced to choose, he will always obey.
Faiths & Pantheons (published in 2002 and partially serving as a canonical foundation for fire & ice) makes this uncompromising doctrine clear: "He [Bane] has no tolerance of failure and seldom thinks twice about submitting even a loyal servant to rigorous tortures to ensure complete obedience to his demanding, regimented doctrine."
If even Bane’s most faithful are not spared, Enver would never presume that he - let alone Elodie - would be the exception.
Does Gortash love Elodie? For now, I leave that question to the readers, though you will get an answer in time. His obsession with her is fuelled by a belief that she is his equal in wit and his match in will - something rare enough to fascinate him. Bane's demands only intensified his fixation and gave him divine license to pursue her. He told her plainly on their wedding night that while he may not want to hurt her, he has no qualms doing so if it becomes necessary. The only reason he shows any leniency at all is because he views her as his equal - but, as with him, she will always be subordinate to Bane. Enver will always serve his Lord first.
Enver may want her loyalty out of desire, but if forced to choose between her and his god, there is no choice at all.

im not saying all of my posts are bangers, but its hard not to notice that posts i make about other companions easily break 100 notes no sweat, with the upper limit breaching 1k, to outliers of well over 4k, but whenever it's about wyll, it's crickets. i dunno, youre allowed to interact with anything you want to, and this isnt a call to reblog from me, specifically, this is the same for a lot of wyll orientated posts ive seen, but its just odd. and by odd i mean racist.

In this house we stan Emily
She's so good as a foil to Charlie!! And her lyrics were 👌👌👌
"If you start to question, you could end up like Lucifer. Fallen." Hmm who's another angel I know who just asked questions and hung out with the wrong people and then sauntered vaguely downwards and then- *is escorted off stage by security*

i am so lost with trying to get back into baldur's gate 3 post-patch 7 😭 i thought maybe i should just keep all my mods enabled, even if they haven't been updated and won't actually work, because removing important mods mid-game tends to break things. but none of my old saves would load so i tried removing certain mods and that didn't work either. tried deleting mod fixer since i saw that it's not needed anymore and doing everything else i could think of but my old save games just will not work, not even ones where i didn't do literally anything except make a character and save while still in the nautiloid. is it just not possible for modded bg3 saves from before patch 7 to work with it? do i have to roll back to patch 6 and then roll back all the mods i updated to their pre-patch 7 versions too?

i say this as a astarion fan who loves him to death— stop giving him content. i know the new patch tended to everyone’s shit but…to add more content to the companions who already had hours and hours upon content whilst wyll and minthara fans are left in the dust is crazy. the content disparity is jarring when wyll only has 8 hours worth of content and astarion has like 12+. like huh.
the pandering is too on the nose man. how many people have to point this out and regurgitate themselves over and over again only for this company who supposedly listens to their fanbase ignore these complaints.

Thinking BG3 thoughts...I didn't really need 12 new subclasses or a bunch of silly poses in photo mode. All I really wanted from patch 8 was more content for Wyll, especially on a romantic route.
But no... we're still stuck with the same two greetings forever.
Sigh.

“why can’t astarion just bite cazador during the fight without completing the ritual?” this. “why can’t spawn astarion get a bat form?” that. “why does he have to be such an asshole if I ascend him?” OH MY GOD the point is that you can’t have it both ways rip media literacy.

this era in my blog is literally so funny because we have the white haired boy obsession (astarion and thanatos) AND THEN we put that white haired boy in a throuple (wyllachstarion and megthanzag) AND THEN we cry

I get why people only play the first 2 acts of bg3 cuz the third act is so frustratingly unpolished. It's a crime cuz yanno, I'm just maybe I'll go redo X quest but they're mostly kind of linear in a way that none of the quests from the first 2 acts are.
There's so few opportunities to be sneaky or set up elaborate crimes or talk your way out of or into trouble. Way too many "step into a room and a fight starts" situations. So many dead ends.
I was really disappointed with the Ironhand/Gondian resolution it felt so pre-determined and clipped off. That one blind guy who came out of nowhere just solves the problem and is fine? Maybe if it was Barcus in there helping me I would've cared. Maybe if I had to choose between letting him die in the explosion or using Wulbren's bomb (after evacuating everyone). But then Wulbren and Barcus just showing up at the end to yell at each other/me? Weh.
Let me blow something up if I take Wulbren's bomb but don't use it at the foundry. There's so many times in earlier acts where you get prompted to use something for not its intended purpose. Please. Big bomb go brrrr in my pocket forever.
Really tragic that even if you stop Roah from getting away with the money (whether by knocking her out or killing her and there really should be different outcomes for those) it has absolutely no effect on the Zhent attacking the guild. Why are they doing that? They didn't get paid to do that. I know because the money is me.
Rugan
There should be a way to get to the iron throne without tipping off Gortash/the Banites. Swimmy cult is right there, surely they can help me get down there somehow with some checks and/or via their danger basement maybe? The time limit thing is rad af but let me be a tryhard and find a way to explore it chill.
More Banite content in general. These guys are hilarious. Please let me do crimes to them (or even for them).
Please make Cazador's house make sense. It has so much attic but it doesn't have a front door.
House of Grief :\
Mizora's false choice sucks. Let me tell her to come back when she's got a real offer. Six months is nothing. Why the hell aren't the Banites actively using the Duke as leverage over the PCs? I don't even like Wyll but the Wyllgirlies deserve better than this and even if you don't have Wyll the Duke was hyped up so much in previous acts. He's basically a sexy lamp.
If any of these things is already in the game I don't think anyone's found them yet so I feel like that's not on us. It's been months.

Fun lil tidbit, in Faerûn lore Ellifain is actually a female moon elf that was obsessed with vengeance and only in death did she realise the person she wanted to kill was her saviour (also she never managed to kill Drizzt. Yeah, she tried to kill that guy). Her family also died in front of her when she was young.
My guy chose that name himself. If you need any idea of how fucked up that man is. Well, in case him murdering people in wildly fucked up and rather graphic ways very often wasn't enough of a hint. My origins lie in creepypasta alright I'm a sucker for some horror and gore.
He will eventually go back to using the name his family gave him but there's a lot of prerequisites for that and he isn't checking those yet.

Because even after roughly 206 hours for my first play through wasn’t enough… I went back for more. This time I am doing the Dark Urges backstory and it is an absolutely wild ride so far! This time I rolled a Drow Sorcerer named Tamsen.
