The last time I studied something was November 6.. for three days I’ve done nothing and now I am trying to catch up.

It is so hard for me to focus, I don’t know why. But pushing through. For today I want to do 1 lecture of pediatrics, try to figure out my public health homework, and add some things missing in my abstract.

✨FALLING AND RISING. 💎Everyone falls. There will be times you think that falling is the end for you when it comes to your goals or dreams. 💜No matter how hard or how deeply you have fallen, YOU CAN GET BACK UP AGAIN. ➡️I fell hard last week and it has been extremely difficult getting back up. I have had to dig really deep to do all I can to get going again with the right frame of mind, positive attitude and energy. 📌Having a positive mindset of high PQ (Positive Intelligence) doesn’t exempt you from struggles or having negative thoughts. You just know how to deal with them when they do arise. 💡As a Christian, I rely heavily on the Holy Spirit to help me live a victorious life. I'm fragile and it's important that I am gentle with myself. No one can tear me down like I can.

I had a few things not go the way I hoped for them to go today and it left me feeling discouraged. Instead of searching for comfort and solice in someone else, I gave it to myself.

I know what I needed and exactly how I needed to be coddled, so I did it myself.

I am in control of my emotions and how I respond to situations, I have to remember that. This world is mine and I demand the best from it. One way or another I'm going to get it.

High Fives All Around.

This is how I think it should go: 

The older I get, the more I embrace failure.

It sounds like a very mature way to think about it right? The whole “failure makes us stronger” idea. I’d like to think that my outlook is this way for the most part. I do embrace failure. Maybe not at the exact moment where I embarrassingly crash and burn in front of everybody. But after some time of reflection and adjustments, I’ve become more equipped to handle situations differently the next time. I understand myself better, and that’s a good thing.

But after all of that, how come the next failure feels even worse than the one before it? How come I get more stressed about it? Shouldn’t I be less scared ? and how come it’s not easier?  I think learning from our past mistakes gives us an advantage in choices we make in the future. Although outcomes are never guaranteed, I genuinely think that we’re doing what we think is for the better (whatever that may mean in our heads) based on outcomes of previous decisions. In this way, since we are coming from a place of “wisdom”, we’ve made the stakes much higher in our heads. Now that we‘re supposedly more experienced, we should be able to make the right choice. Unlike our younger, dumber selves, we have this thing figured out. Talk about pressure. It is way scarier, because if we fail, then our whole “wisdom” thing is thrown out the window and we’re left alone in our living room staring into blank space wondering what the hell we’re doing with our life. (…Or so I hear from a friend… not me though.. a friend…)

The cruel thing about this rant, is that I can’t offer solutions for us. I guess I can go with a “failure makes us stronger” motivational rant, but honestly, you could go to Pinterest for really great motivational quotes with really cool and trendy fonts and that would probably give you the same effect. Other people have done it way better than me, and there’s great stuff out there. Maybe in future posts, I’ll share some of those great things that I’ve come across. 

What I do hope to offer is my own personal “high five” to those who have felt this way. Maybe you can relate to the feeling and have never been able to put it to words before. Maybe you’ve found yourself alone in your living room or in your car staring into blank space wondering what the hell you’re doing with your life. If that’s you, High Five. Cause a lot of times, that’s me too (Surprise! it wasn’t really a friend... it was me all along).

To revise my first statement:

The older I get, the scarier it is to embrace failure, and that’s just how it goes. High Five.

Have you ever received a revelation that what you had read about, what you may have seen in pictures or books was actually true? So many times we are bombarded with slick copy, clever sales techniques or well done filtered/photoshopped pics that when we receive the product or meet the person, it doesn’t live up to the hype. Let me tell you, it was absolutely refreshing to stroll along this walkway to view a landscape that matches what I had seen in books and videos and heard about from friends. If only life could always be this way. If only you and I could always be this way. What if it was possible to manifest the beauty that is inside all of us outward so that all could see and marvel? No gimmicks, no filters, just our God given inner beauty. That is the inspiration I received from this landscape and it is also what I hope for you. Smoothing it Over, Do you think an artist can have an argument with their muse? The notion itself sounds make-believe, but I don’t think it’s entirely full of fluff. I’ve been in a creative rut for months now... sort of going back and forth between creative spurts and a desire to follow thru with them. I’ve had flashes of inspiration to finish a painting or to start a new piece, but instead of following that spark I tended to roll away from them with a firm and silent “no”. Well, that would certainly put anyone off from trying to help another - so, it’s no surprise to me that my muse responded with a firm and silent “fine, be that way”. • So, what now? • Like any conflict resolution plan, I have to accept responsibility for my part in the mess and take action to remedy the situation. Therefore, I’m going to give regular and simple art practice a go for awhile... you know, to smooth things over a bit first. We’ll see how it goes.... #artparties anyone? • It hasn’t been completely still behind the scenes, though. I’ve been working gently and regularly on an art shop with society 6.
