Otherworldly Iceland
Inspiration struck this afternoon. I’ve not looked at this selection of work since I was commissioned to take them in March during the Reykjanes Eruption at the time. Something got me into the mood to revisit . I’m pretty happy with the first shot of a volcano crater at sunset from the helicopter.

Old Faithful Meets Hale-Bopp - May 26th, 1997.
"As Comet Hale-Bopp left our northern skies, it provided us with yet another burst of joy. On May 11th, 1997, the fading comet was photographed behind the famous "Old Faithful" water geyser of Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA, Planet Earth. Perhaps more familiar to Earth-dwellers than the dark geysers on Neptune's moon Triton, the gas geysers on Jupiter's moon Io, and the dirty water geysers hypothesised on Jupiter's moon Europa, Earth's Old Faithful is also reliable - every 60 to 80 minutes it gushes a plume of water and steam high into the air. Comet Hale-Bopp would continue to be visible to observers in the southern hemisphere as it moved away from the Sun, towards the outer Solar System."

A geyser erupts into the twilight at Yellowstone, painted with the vibrant hues of sunset as stars twinkle above. A lone meteor streaks through the purple sky, adding a dash of magic to this serene outdoor canvas.

This stunning geyser was created accidentally in 1916 when a well was drilled. The minerals in the water created these colorful formations at Fly Ranch Geyser, Nevada.
