"I'll ask you again, Dr. Venkman, why were you digging the hole? And please remember that you're under oath."
"There are some things in this world that go way beyond human understanding. Things that cannot be explained, things that most people don't wanna know about. That is where we come in."
"So, what you're saying is that the world of the supernatural is your exclusive province?"
"Kitten, I think what I'm saying, is that sometimes, shit happens, someone has to deal with it, and who ya gonna call?"

June 4, 1984: Born in the U.S.A. released
Tumblr media
In June 1984, Bruce Springsteen's 7th album was released. Here is my piece I wrote in 2014. There's a 40th anniversary edition that was recently released on vinyl (expect my review soon). Happy 40th BITUSA!
June 8, 1984: Ghostbusters / Top Secret! / Gremlins open
Tumblr media
On one day in 1984, three all-out classic films were released. Here is my piece I wrote in 2019. Happy 40th Ghostbusters, Top Secret! and Gremlins!
June 13, 1979: Candy-O released
Tumblr media
In June 1979, the second album by The Cars was released. The new wave Boston band made quite a splash with their first album and for the second they brought in producer Roy Thomas Baker known for his work with Queen. Everyone talks about the debut, but this one has quite a few bangers like "Let's Go", "Dangerous Type" and the title track. Happy 45th Candy-O!
June 15, 1989: Bleach released
Tumblr media
In June 1989, Nirvana's debut album was released. The album pre-dated Dave Grohl and drums were courtesy of the highly underrated Chad Channing, and on a few tracks Melvins’ Dale Crover (who I spoke with about this album in 2017). Here is my piece I wrote about the album in 2014. Happy 35th Bleach!
June 15, 1999: The White Stripes released
Tumblr media
In June 1999, the debut album from The White Stripes was released. Here is my piece I wrote in 2014. Happy 25th TWS!
June 16, 1994: Kristen Pfaff dies
Tumblr media

June 22, 1984: The Karate Kid opens
Tumblr media
In June 1984 one of the great underdog sports movies was released. Here is my piece I wrote in 2014! In 2016, when I interviewed one of the stars William Zabka (one of the great 80s villains of all-time), he told me “Good movies ride on! It’s nice they are still appreciated to this day.”. Happy 40th Karate Kid!
June 22, 2004: A Ghost is Born released
Tumblr media
In June 2004 the 5th album by Wilco was released. Following up Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was a tall task, but this was quite a follow up. This is an album I got that Summer and listened to it quite a bit on my disc man that Summer (before I got an iPod). There's some solid tracks here and notably "Spiders (Kidsmoke)", a 10 min. slow burn build-up that blows up at a certain point in the song. Happy 20th AGIB!
June 23, 1989: Batman opens

TOP 05 SELF CONTAINING IDW PUBLISHING GHOSTBUSTERS COMICS
@bixiebeet @professorlehnsherr-almashy @spengnitzed @janeb984 @slimerspengler @amalthea9
So, over the years, there have been several comic series based on the GHOSTBUSTERS franchise, mostly based on THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS cartoon. In 2008, IDW Publishing acquired the comic book rights to the franchise, primarily focusing on the original films.
Written by Erik Burnham and illustrated by Dan Schoening, the series are littered with plenty of callbacks for long-time fans of the franchise to spot. The comics and their volume collections often feature supplementary material, such as the P.C.O.C. pages by Tristan Jones. Before a full crossover happened, some issues of the comic also had backup stories set in the continuity of THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS.
The main 2011 series is long, takes a lot of time to get invested and after 2014 its has been primarily focused on multiverse crossovers rather than moving the character development forward. Fortunally, if you want to enjoy the characters adventures in a comic format in a short period of time, there are miniseries and one-shots with a self containing beggining, middle and end, some made by the team of Erik Burnham and Dan Schoening, others made by different creative teams.
Here, I will present a recomendation list of five self containing IDW Publishing GHOSTBUSTERS Comics that can be enjoyed and understood on their own:
05° GHOSTBUSTERS YEAR ONE
Published in 2020, this minisseries focuses on a series of interviews made by the journalist Rebecca Morales, who is working in writing a book about the GHOSTBUSTERS and their battle against Gozer. It follows their everyday lifes in the weeks after the defeat of Gozer, and flashbacks of dealing with haunting cases that didn't appeared in the work days montage of the original movie, including exploring how was Winston Zeddemore's proper beggining as a team member.

04° GHOSTBUSTERS 35º ANNIVERSARY
Published in 2019, to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the original movie's release, this minisseries follows the four hero's in an adventure to discover the mistery of a strange artifact connected to the literary narrative of Atlantis.
Tumblr media
03° GHOSTBUSTERS 35° ANNIVERSARY: THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS
The second comic released during the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the original movie's release, this time set in the universe of THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS, it follows the four hero's investigation of a rival company called Spooks Away that is misteriously stealing their cases away.
Tumblr media
02° GHOSTBUSTERS: DEVIATIONS
Ghostbusters: Deviations is a one-shot comic book which takes part in a five week company event in March 2016 spotlighting what-if stories at pivotal points in a franchise's history. In a world, where on that fateful day in New York, the Ghostbusters did NOT cross streams, and were thus unable to destroy Gozer or close his portal. Now, 31 days later, NYC has descended into chaos and ruin, ruled by the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, and the GHOSTBUSTERS have to find a solution to go back in time and save the City.
Tumblr media
01° GHOSTBUSTERS: WHAT IN SAMHAIM JUST HAPPENED?
What in Samhain Just Happened?! is the fourth one shot in a series of holiday-themed Ghostbusters comic books by IDW Publishing that released in October of 2010.
Television producer Artie Lester is haunted by a pumpkin-headed ghost and tries to hire the Ghostbusters to capture it. The Ghostbusters refuse when they learn Lester plans to film the bust and make it a television special. However, Janine secretly tries to capture the entity to earn the fifty thousand dollars Lester promised.

Entertainment Weekly exclusively revealed this morning that a new Ghostbusters 35th Anniversary edition steelbook is on the way this June… and there’s a familiar name amid the special features that will be on the disc! Indeed, I was fortunate enough to be asked along with my Ghostbusters Interdimensional Crossrip co-host Chris Stewart to join Eric Reich, Sean Bishop, and Ashley Victoria Robinson on a fan commentary track to play under the first movie!
We really did our best to focus on fun trivia facts both among the production and the lore of the series, point out tiny details in the corners of frames that we’ve always admired, and took advantage of having Ghost Corps’ Eric Reich with us to confirm or debunk some long-standing Ghostbusters urban legends behind the production. It’s a fun track and we hope that you all will enjoy it!
Here’s the rest of the details on the release, a visit to EW will give you a glimpse at a never before seen distributor pitch reel featuring Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd in costume talking to theater owners!

I always think of XGB as The Breakfast Club but with ghosts. Mostly because of the diversity of the characters and the issues that they are facing.
But the reason why Eduardo is my fave is because ... He seems to be the one with the most character development.
He started out as a self-proclaimed slacker who joined Egon's class (and eventually the team) because it was an easy A. He took pride in not reading, and would even ran away from tough situation. But the longer he did the job, the more challenges he had to tackle ... The more he revealed himself to be capable. That he was smarter and braver than he seemed to be.
That scene in the 35th anniversary edition convinced me that Eduardo had been running away from who he truly was. As a form of defense mechanism.
As always, this might be related to his family background. He was born into a family of cops --as we could see in both the TV series and comics, his father and brother were rigid and controlling figures of authority in his life. They looked down on people who made different life choices (think of the uncle who owned a brewery instead of becoming a cop). We have even seen Eduardo arguing with his brother for trying to erase their Hispanic roots by whitewashing his own name.
Eduardo was just as intelligent and responsible and proper as his brother and father. But he was put in a situation where he had to constantly rebel just to prove himself. On the more extreme end, this can push one to fight against his own true self -- "rebel without a cause" -- and rock the boat just to be different. That can happen when one lives in an environment where they cannot be accepted as themselves.
Eduardo kind of lost himself along the way, but luckily being Ghostbuster helped him to find the way home. He may not see himself as a reader, but he saved Egon's life with his skill in chess, indicating some level of intelligence (And he secretly enjoyed reading, just not when you pointed it out). He has always been protective of his nephew, the way he is now protective of his colleagues.
At the beginning, he may had been attracted to Kylie because: A. She wanted him to kiss her. B. He was always attracted to women, any women.
But in the end, he learned that her ability to call him out on his BS -- her tough love -- helped him to stand up and be the man he supposed to be.
He realised that being with her enabled him to become his best self. And man, that is a great love.
