Junior Killer.

1960 #Epiphone#Coronet with extremely rare Bikini logo headstock, no "E" on the pickguard, and inked serial number, on top of a nicely worn (and excellent sounding) tweed 1959 #Fender#Super#amplifier.

Yesterday was the big, annual, @dlott6 / @chriswstringer8#UnionSound#Toronto Guitarpalooza Show & Tell Get-together, and here is the very first pic from the afternoon's festivities!

Though this was the most humble and least pricy of all the guitars that showed up to the event, it was my favourite! I have always had a thing for Coronets, even though I have never actually held one before yesterday (I have literally never seen one for sale around here in 12+ years of near constant guitar shopping!). Oh also, this one was an incredible 5 lbs! FIVE LBS!!!

I love this shot so much, and I'd LOVE to take credit for the art direction on it, but I just pushed the shutter release. The set up was 100% @michaelsegui's concept. Oh and the piano stool (for standing on), was provided by the studio (thanks Chris!). 😉

Just arrived for #gibsunday , an extremely rare 1931 Recording King Model 807 (Nick Lucas Style) Flat Top Acoustic Guitar made by Gibson in Kalamazoo Michigan! (Link in profile). - It was late 1930, the economy was collapsing everywhere. Gibson had parts and tooling set up to build their new improved large-body Nick Lucas Special, priced at $125. This very expensive deluxe flat top suddenly must have seemed VERY hard to sell as the Depression closed in. One solution? Assemble them with a plain headstock and no truss rod, spray them plain black and send them to Montgomery Ward to sell via mail-order catalog. Amazing how completely differently these two guitars sound and play, both exceptional, but quite unique. The R9 is wooly and wild, and vibrates forever. 1972 #Gibson #ES355 TDSV. It may not be Easter Sunday, but today is truly a day of resurrection. My cherished 355 was out of commission for almost 2 years (due to an event so traumatic to me that I still don't think I am ready to talk about it yet...), but now it's back and playing better than ever thanks to the skilled work of my luthier @alastair_miller. I just realized that we’ve not had anything lately for you denizens of the #lowend . So for #gibsunday here’s a 1954 Gibson EB-1 Electric Bass! It comes with its original pink-lined hard shell case and its adjustable end pin extension for stand-up playing. Link in our profile. - This is a really nice original example of the instrument we think this is just about the coolest and most distinctive electric bass ever designed -- and one of the most eccentric! The "Gibson Electric Bass" (The name EB-1 was not used until 1958, when the semi-hollow EB-2 debuted) was first issued in mid-1953 as one of the earliest solid-body basses. The "fiddle-shaped" body design is unique and owes nothing but general concept to the slightly earlier (late 1951-52) Fender Precision -- and was likely an inspiration to Hofner in Germany!
