Me: *decides that I want to start writing again, and that I should probably write a few one-shots to get my self back into it*
Also Me: *starts writing an in-depth AU fic about my favourite ship that follows six whole series*
All joking aside, I’m writing a slow burn Flemnott fic that starts from the beginning of series one… I’m nine chapters in and I’ve only just finished episode three. 😅

Duke and Duchess of Sussex 'defied Queen' over statement release

They're doing the same thing to Duchess of Sussex, they did to Princess Diana. SHAMEFUL!!!
Duke and Duchess of Sussex 'defied Queen' over statement release
Announcement they were stepping back as senior royals ‘blindsided’ palace
By Caroline Davies and Ben Quinn |
Published:13:01 Thu January 9, 2020 | The Guardian | Posted Jan. 09, 2020 |
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex defied instructions from the Queen not to go public with their bombshell announcement they are to step back as senior royals until details of their plans had been fully discussed, it has been claimed.
The Guardian understands that the couple went ahead regardless, sending a copy of their explosive statement to Prince Charles and Prince William just 10 minutes before it was released on Instagram, and without any further consultation.
Buckingham Palace was said to have been “blindsided” by the release of the statement while talks were at such a very early stage. Senior family members were reportedly left feeling “disappointed” and “hurt”.
As myriad questions remained unanswered, the sequence of events leading to the announcement emerged.
Harry originally contacted his father about spending more time in Canada and America just before Christmas, but was told he needed to come up with a thought-out plan, according to details first reported by royal editor Robert Jobson on the Evening Standard.
He then sent a draft proposal about his planned new role to Charles early in the new year, but was informed more time was required to think through the complex implications, particularly over funding.
Harry then sought a meeting with the Queen as soon as the couple and son Archie returned from their six-week break from royal duties. He was told the Queen would only meet him after he had discussed the plans in detail with Charles, sources told Jobson.
The planned meeting was blocked by courtiers, but the Queen is said to have made it clear the couple should not go public at this time.
No senior royal knew in advance the wording of the statement, penned personally by the couple, or that it was about to be released.
Amid fallout over the news, there was said to be a willingness at the palace to make the new roles work. But, senior advisers have stressed, there are “complicated issues” to work through.
In their statement on Wednesday, Harry and Meghan said they intended to “step back”, split their time between the UK and North America, and work to become “financially independent”. A new “progressive role” would see them freed from palace constraints, allowed to earn income, promote their causes while also “continuing to honour our duty to the Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages”.
A number of royal commentators have criticised the decision, with some describing it as the biggest surprise since the Panorama interview with Diana, Princess of Wales.
Dickie Arbiter, a former palace press secretary, said of the couple’s actions: “It seems to be a succession of doing things their own way, which is the wrong way.” Royal author Penny Junor said it had echoes of when Diana announced she was stepping back from 50 of her charities without consulting anybody. “The problem is that they are not working for themselves, they are working for a family firm, and to be making announcements of this sort without consulting is beyond bizarre”.
But Meghan received support from her close friend Jessica Mulroney, Canadian stylist and wife of Canadian TV presenter, Ben Mulroney, who posted a quote attributed to US singer and filmmaker Gina Carey, saying: “A strong woman looks a challenge in the eye and gives it a wink.”
On their new website, sussexroyal.com  the couple said they received just 5% of their funding for official duties from public money through the sovereign grant, the formula for funding the monarchy that replaced the civil list in 2012.
The remaining 95% of their funding comes from Prince Charles’s private income from the Duchy of Cornwall. However, it is understood that the 5% figure does not include travel expenses or their round-the-clock security detail.
They will also hand-pick selected journalists to cover their engagements, and no longer participate in the “royal rota”, which allowed accredited royal correspondents from UK newspapers access to their events.
There has been no further explanation of how they intend to become “financially independent”.
Media organisations often seek to justify criticism of the couple by claiming public interest because they receive public funding. They may hope relinquishing this funding will strip away this justification, and grant them greater power over protecting their privacy.
Harry inherited an estimated £7m from his late mother’s estate, which will have grown with investment. He and William also inherited her dresses and valuable jewellery. He is also thought to have received money from a trust fund left by the Queen Mother, although the exact amount is not known.
David McClure, author of Royal Legacy, about royal finances, estimated the couple could be worth up to £18m in total. He warned: “The history of senior royals making money – the two is a toxic mix. It hasn’t worked well in the past.”
In 2002 the Earl and Countess of Wessex both stood down from their businesses, in television and PR, after accusations they were cashing in on their royal status. Sophie Wessex was caught in a “fake sheikh” sting by an undercover journalist trying to bid for business, which led to a major review by the palace of the royals’ commercial interests.
So far neither the couple, nor Buckingham Palace, has shed any light on the high costs of security to the taxpayer, which runs to more than £100m a year for the whole royal family. The couple’s website states they are classified as “internationally protected people” requiring armed security from the Metropolitan police.
While in the UK, it seems the couple expect their bill to be met by taxpayers. If in Canada, which is a realm, it may fall to Canadian taxpayers. There is no answer to who would pay if they lived in the US. Shuttling across the Atlantic would significantly increase their security bill.
Meanwhile, wax figures of the couple were removed from the royal set at Madame Tussauds in London. Steve Davies, general manager at the attraction, said they would stand separately. “As two of our most popular and well-loved figures they will of course remain an important feature at Madame Tussauds London as we watch to see what the next chapter holds for them.”

You know how I know syfy doesn't understand negroes love genre media?
They're doing some ghost hunter series and it looks like Kandyse "never gets a break even though everyone loves her" McClure is in it the advertising.
But she's not listed amongst their top cast put up at the end of the teaser. Meanwhile, of the four names, at least two are less well known that Kandyse.
Kandyse who's been a steady genre favorite since at least Dark Angel days, and most definitely since BSG (may they never be forgiven). Like, she's known. She's recognizable. And they're trying to ignore her in favor of some white dudes hardly anyone has heard of.
Look, my girl is like a Canadian, lighter skin, second coming of Queen Gina, when it comes to how long she's been popping up and being wasted on genre media. (Honestly, if I have to see her Sean Bean'd one more time, I'm gonna kill the Canadian casting director's guild. The whole thing.)
Give Kandyse love.

a better reason to Fall in love
Falling in love is an adventure--the breathless, goose-bump-rendering voyage of a real-life hero and heroine. Falling in love is simultaneously wonderful and painful -- a mingling of uncertainty and euphoria. Love stories are, after all, like people -- as individual as snowflakes. Each love story is entirely unique -- each love story should be admired, cherished, and valued !

Line of Duty: Why You Should be Watching the Hit UK Crime Thriller
https://ift.tt/31mB8Z6
On the 22nd of July 2005, the day after a series of failed terrorist bombing attempts in the UK capital and a fortnight after fifty-two people had been killed in the London Underground bombings, a Metropolitan Police surveillance team misidentified Brazilian electrician Jean-Charles de Menezes as a fugitive terrorist and fatally shot him as he entered Stockwell Tube Station.
The aftermath of de Menezes’ death, the circumstances of which were the subject of intense press speculation in the run up to a 2008 inquest that resulted in no criminal prosecution for the officers involved, caught the imagination of screenwriter Jed Mercurio.
Previously the creator of Cardiac Arrest and Bodies, a pair of TV dramas that exposed troubling aspects of the modern public health service, Mercurio would use a fictional version of the de Menezes shooting as the way in to a drama that would give UK police procedure the same treatment. When policing goes tragically wrong, where along the line of command does the blame lie? When resources are allocated according to success rates, when cutbacks are made, and when targets are prioritised over public service, what is the fallout?
Mercurio dramatised these questions in Line of Duty, 2012’s gripping BBC Two thriller, currently being repeated on BBC One to fill the schedules emptied by the effects of COVID-19. Filmed in Birmingham and set in a bureaucracy-heavy, target-driven urban crime unit, Line of Duty tells the story of DCI Tony Gates (Lennie James), the head of a criminal investigative team whose results have won him the title of Officer of the Year.
As you might expect, over the course of the five hour drama, a question mark is hung over Gates’ suitability for the accolade. Is he the squeaky clean officer his target record suggests? Is his team the model unit they appear to be on paper? Asking those questions is DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston), a recent transfer to Anti-Corruption, and an unwelcome newcomer to the Midlands unit. Who watches the watchmen? AC do, not that anybody thanks them for it.
Though core characters continue to the second series, Line of Duty’s first run works as a standalone drama. It’s a five-hour episodic story pivoting on the fulcrum of Tony Gates’ character. Is he really a bent cop, or a victim of circumstance? Along with the audience, AC-12’s position on Tony rotates from corrupt to clean (well, cleanish), from ally to enemy and back again.
Moving us through Gates’ many facets is Lennie James (The Walking Dead, Save Me), a stage and screen actor and writer whose talent is responsible in no small part for series one’s success. Even in Line Of Duty’s more sensational cop thriller moments, James’ performance as Gates is varied, layered and credible. Gates is a family man and he’s an adulterer, he’s a careerist surrounded by cronies and – to borrow from The Wire – he’s good police. All of those aspects James plays with absolute conviction.
Joining James in the ranks of talented cast are Vicky McClure and Martin Compston as DS Fleming and DS Arnott. When series one aired in 2012, both young actors were better known for indie film and, in McClure’s case, improvised drama (she was heart-breaking as Lol in Shane Meadows’ This Is England series) and perhaps because of that, both bring that sense of naturalism to the often clichéd world of TV crime drama. Over the next four series, each one a steadily growing word-of-mouth hit for the BBC, McClure and Compston have become beloved by fans and are now indissociable from their AC-12 double-act. (The surrounding cast just continues to improve too, with guest stars in later series including Keeley Hawes, Daniel Mays, Thandie Newton and Stephen Graham.)

TV
Jed Mercurio on Line Of Duty series 5: ‘Familiarity will be our undoing’
By Louisa Mellor
In Line of Duty, we meet young, optimistic police, and jaded, unsympathetic box-tickers. There are officers driven by a strong sense of duty, and those in it just for the pension and to repay personal debts. We see the police both hamstrung by, and choosing to, prioritise paperwork and statistics over justice. There are so many tiny derelictions of duty fringing the central corruption investigation that it’s no wonder active police weren’t happy to advise on the drama; it doesn’t flatter the profession.
There are, however, enough good-hearted, sound-thinking characters for the series not to be an attack on modern policing. It’s an empathetic precinct drama with things to say about loyalty and the difficulty of taking an ethical stand.
Gina McKee, Craig Parkinson, Adrian Dunbar, Paul Higgins and TV’s Neil Morrissey all slot in without a glitch around James, Compston and McClure’s central trio. That the cast has no weak links carries Line of Duty over scenes set in a one-dimensional ‘sink estate’ populated, it seems, solely by prostitute mums, feral kids and crack-dealing young black men in hoodies.
That said, if you were to tick off how many of the crime drama clichés lampooned by Charlie Brooker and Daniel Maier in their sharply observed 2012-14 A Touch of Cloth spoofs appear in Line of Duty, its score card would be sparse. Not empty, mind you, but it sits high above the watermark for the genre.
Yes, there are shock cliff-hangers, yes, every so often a character will thump his chest and declare himself a “proper copper” and yes, the title is spoken aloud in a crucial final scene, but those are rare moments of broadly drawn cop show stuff. It’s the drama’s quieter insights and stand-out performances that stay with you.
Line of Duty is so well-made a drama with such a sage perspective about modern policing that its few frustrations – the undeveloped junior officers, its tabloid vision of estate life, Gates’ wife’s lack of any kind of character – are perhaps felt more keenly than they would were it just any other crime thriller. It does so much so well that its brief dips seem all the more noticeable.
By having an agenda other than using violent crime to shock and titillate, Line of Duty stands almost alone as a UK police thriller. It examines the bureaucratic culture of modern policing alongside the slit throats, detached fingers and freezer-stuffed bodies. If you weren’t among the 4.1 million-strong UK audience for Line of Duty back in 2012, or the millions more who joined between then and the mega-hit fifth series in 2019, now is the perfect time to get on board.
Line of Duty series one is currently being repeated at 9pm on BBC One on Monday and Tuesday nights.
