What is Girad like? What motivates him?

Girad is a cinnamon roll on the outside but could actually kill you type. He’s polite and eager to learn about Nessari culture. He’s going into the marriage with an open mind. However, there’s a lot of insecurity in him from his father’s abuse and constant ridicule. His father also had his mother executed for use of magic, so Girad holds a grudge against him for that. He misses his mother deeply. It’s where he gets his sweet side.

Currently in the story (where I’m at with writing it, that is), Girad just wants to clear his name of being a suspect in Anaria’s disappearance. He 100% had nothing to do with it. King Sol’s superstition makes sense though, given that Girad was the last to be seen with Anaria.

Girad could be a mess on the inside, but he’s managed to hold himself together pretty well. That doesn’t mean there aren’t cracks that torment him though. I can’t wait to write more of him.

20. How often do you get art block?

Hm, I admit I get it quite a lot. I have a lot of things I want to draw, but often don't have the motivation for. I know most of my art block comes from my depression, so that can be quite annoying, especially when art helps with the depression. Then there's the art block that happens from being a perfectionist. That one sucks too. I've been working on getting rid of my perfectionism though, and it's really working and helping with my art.

Sorry for ranting in your asks, I know it's been awhile since the "if I'm not safe no one is safe" drawing of Caligula, but the assassination/sacrifice comparison has been rattling around my head recently, and it reminds me of Rene Girard's work on sacrifices, particularly where he says that "sacrifice is primarily an act of violence without risk of vengeance" and also "The purpose of the sacrifice is to restore harmony to the community, to reinforce the social fabric".

Okay, I’ll describe Anaria and we’ll see who she gets along best with. (Going to go with Anaria during her descent into madness arc.)

Anaria is 21. She’s tall with long black hair, blue eyes, and wings that are white with black at the ends. She used to be incredibly spoiled and naive, and felt like because of her status as princess she could get away with whatever she wanted. Now, however, she’s a traumatized alcoholic with scars (one of which is a brand and another that crosses over her face). She’s very bitter about life and others, and has a lust for revenge. Her desire for revenge is so strong that she’ll hurt others or herself in trying to get it. However, she still has soft spots, like when it comes to her fiancé Girad and her best friend Hali. Truly, underneath all the trauma, she just wants justice and peace, and is idealistic about her goals. - @evilwriter-originals

I think Adoh would get along with her.

Adoh is a half fire fae that has seen war and destruction. He is considered the therapist friend or the dad friend in most situations. He is the silent listening type until he had something to say most of the time. He also would probably help her with the vengeance arc if it served her peace of mind.

Decided to actually do quick, experimental coloring with this piece! I used one of Procreate’s charcoal brushes and took about half an hour to color. I really like the style that appeared once I got rid of the sketch lines. Might have to do this more often!

Uhhhhh... *takes out character sheet that I totally don't actually have* (Shit, maybe I need to make one. Wait, I can do this off the top of my head.)

Well, there's Anaria, Girad, Hali, Sol, Hakur, Sylvae, and Wyniin. I haven't really posted Sylvae or Wyniin whump but oh, it's going to happen. You've seen whump with everyone else though.

18. Do you prefer visual whump or written whump? Any reason why?

I think I prefer written whump, and I'm honestly not sure why. Maybe because everyone has their own interpretation of stories and writing, including myself, and it's almost like I get to play with it as I read? Yeah, that might be it.

22. Most controversial whump opinion?

I have a few.

Lady whump is fine and good and not sexist. In fact, I think it's rather sexist to avoid it. Women feel pain. Women go through shit. Not creating about it helps no one. It makes it seem like a woman's pain must be a shameful secret. (Which, society already tells us it is.)

If it's "bad" and "sexist" to write lady whump because "women already go through enough", then why, in that regard, is it okay to write whump of genderqueer characters? It feels very hypocritical. (I think writing whump of any character is okay.)

Genderqueer/nonbinary characters are not blank slates just because they use they/them pronouns and don't conform to societal standards of gender. Please give them personality like any other character instead of treating them like some sort of whump bin you can just throw stuff in. (I've seen this happen a lot.)
