Me: sweet, a day off I can't wait to relax all day
Also me: *watches four horror/psychological thrillers/revenge fantasy films back to back like some sort of vaguely insane person*
#today was....enlightening#first was Freaky and I really enjoyed it!#a cute little horror comedy that I do definitely recommend if you're into that sort of thing#there was a moment I was rooting for the serial killer (in the main actress's body) to kill some guys because they were >#going to **** **** her so they absolutely deserved their brutal deaths :)#next one was Promising Young Woman#I understand where the critique that I've heard about for this one came from including the (partial) lack of catharsis with the ending#however I did still think it was a good film#the realism of a **** accusation being ignored by the police and authority....it was tough to watch#and the confrontation at the bachelor party and the aftermath of that brought me to tears#this one was probably the most impactful one that I watched today#the next was Ready or Not#and I have seen a review of it...i think it was KennyJD? but that was a while back and this was my first time watching it#very here for the final girl trope and Grace's actress did a phenomenal job showing just how feral women can get#i really enjoyed her performance#the last one I watched (just finished it) was The Invisible Man#I've only ever seen Elizabeth Moss in Handmaid's Tale so I knew she could act but ??? omg???#literally incredible the tension she managed to get into every scene where her ex was in the room#such a great actress we stan for life i'm glad it ended with *** ********* *** ** like yes get your catharsis babe we love to see it

'ss is for straight girls' i understand the sentiment but in all honesty literally have not come across a single straight girl IRL that ships ss.

Literally have not come across a single /person/ regardless of sexuality/gender that likes ss (or maybe they do but clearly they hide it bc its roasted all the time IRL)
SS is for ppl with Bad taste that fundamentally misunderstand both sasuke and sakuras characters to curate a dynamic that's just Not there.
SS is NOT written to be a 'bad boy' gets the 'kind girl that innocently pines for him and softens his heart'
It's written as 'indifferent boy who is Not interested' x a shallow groupie
sakras one-sided 'love' is written out to be seen as childish, immature, and shallow and it has Never grown from that. sakura's 'love' is dissed by the narrative in every instance. its Not seen as this selfless, confident, pure-hearted love that will 'pull him out of the darkness and every confession scene of ss was to humiliate sakura.
this is not even to praise nh or anything, but even when it came to nh, her confession during the pein arc came from a place of courage 'you made me strong, i want to stand by you, so i will die for you!!' like blah blah u can focus on the part where hinata admits shes being 'selfish' for disobeying narutos orders and going to die, but at the heart of what she's saying, hinata's 'crush' comes from a place of 'i am inspired by this person to get stronger!!' and that is framed by the narrative in a Positive light
vs sakura, kishi didnt even want to explain /why/ sakras even interested in saske .. so we're left with thinking its bc he looks coool?? so anyways we skip the whole /why/ and get to her confessing and humiliating herself in the process
Ok at 12yo being immature, comparing sasukes genocide with her crush leaving is bottom tier
but then she AGES she 'MATURES' and she confesses again in the most self-deprecating way possible in the middle of a war
where she's supposed to be this top tier medical ninja, the backbone of her team, but she falls apart because this guy doesn't spare her a second glance, and she falls to her knees begging like...
anyways point is SS is for ppl w Bad taste.

#let me get these tags out of the way first bc a bitch is about to go off#angry theatre talk#team screams#ok. so I'm in my dressing room getting ready for a show and vibing and someone decides to shuffle in the heights and west side story#we're about 50/50 poc and white people and usually ofc it's no trouble. im at one of the most diverse theatre companies in the city#so all the white girls start doing these really exaggerated accents which is already super uncomfortable. and then one of them says#-she was gonna audition with breathe but she decided against it. which like. good thank you. but it starts this whole discussion about how#-it's 'so weird' that white ppl can't play poc characters but poc actors can play traditionally white roles.#and i lowkey went off on them as kindly as i could bc obviously being a poc actress myself one of my core beliefs is that poc deserve to#tell their own stories and also the chance to tell stories that traditionally only white ppl could. and everyone is looking at me like-#i care a little too much. they were like 'yeah we're not disagreeing with you it's just...interesting'#bro it's 'interesting' to you. you're loudly and obnoxiously mimicking accents in dressing rooms. I'm walking into audition rooms stressed-#about not only my own material but also the fact that i have to beat out all the other poc here for probably one role. I'm worrying that#my skin tone means i can only play one character in this show and I'm pre-cast as the nerdy brown quiet girl before they see my audition#it's fucking infuriating and so isolating bc nobody wants to be the one who causes a scene and if you DO say something everyone's like#'its not that deep just get over it' this happened like yesterday or two days ago and i didn't even realize how much it's been bothering me#idk if i should say something. our stage manager is asian and i think he'd get it but our whole creative team and the guy who usually-#directs this theatre's shows are all white. and i don't wanna make trouble in literally my first show bc what if they think-#that I'm too much trouble to cast again? i don't wanna ruin my chances but at the same time I feel like as long as I'm in the theatre space#and sticking to my values then it's my responsibility to say something. but idk what it would even do bc it's not like an annoying repeated#offense that you'd get a lecture for and move on from. it's a fundamental lack of understanding as to what poc go through in theatre spaces#and a slap on the wrist isn't going to educate ignorant people on what's wrong with this industry at its very core#and it would be SO easy to trace back to me if it got out to the cast. I'm the only one who said anything in the moment out of 4 poc in the#-dressing room. will should have been the villain of season three and zane should have been made a main. i'm right
