In an earlier post, you mentioned that you weren’t going to do any lion swapping in your VLD Rewrite.

So, I’m assuming the means Shiro also gets to keep his Bayard.

Do you have any ideas for what form Shiro’s Bayard will take?

I did say that, yea !! I've since played with the idea of maybe having some instances where someone else will pilot a different lion for Plot, but it won't be permanent, and it won't be the same as the Bond (tm) that the lion has with her paladin. but I digress <3

I have sooooo many thoughts about shiro's bayard <3 I've always LOVED the hc that his bayard takes the form of a shield so at the moment that's my primary idea, but I also think it'd be cool if he had a few alternate forms later on (in fact, I'm planning on giving Everyone a few alternate forms as they continue to develop their skills) and ngl ngl ngl I am thinking sooo so hard about polearms. so very incredibly hard.

Crowned: These fandoms are VERY near and dear to my heart- and I’m ALWAYS willing to talk about them!

The Legend of Zelda: This is the fandom that introduced me to the internet back in 2019 (I’m a late bloomer, I know- XDDD), and kickstarted me making theories and analyses!

Friday Night Funkin: Hate it or love it, you can’t deny there are some amazing individuals out there! And for you modders out there, this game is actually heavily moddable- and one mod in particular was what caused FNF to blow up in the first place! This is actually the fandom I’m hyper fixating on right now-

Favorites: While they aren’t as important to me as the “crowned” ones, they still managed to hold my attention for a month or so- and that’s something to admire, considering how hyper my brain is!

Animator Vs Animation: This is the fandom that introduced me to Tumblr and AO3 back in the late summer of 2021- don’t worry, @ann-aha, you’re not alone! XDDD

Genshin Impact: Contrary to popular opinion, this game isn’t just for “nerds” or people who can afford to splurge thousands of dollars- I managed to complete the current (back then!) storyline as a free-to-player! While I’m not in the fandom anymore, at least give this one a chance?

Undertale: Ah yes, the funny skeleton man fandom /j /lh But seriously, this fandom isn’t all “Sans Fangirls”- just search up animations and artwork! Or, better yet- search up a full play through of the game (I recommend this order for newcomers- Neutral, Pacifist, Genocide) and let the story and gameplay do the talking! ^^

rewatching voltron with the knowledge that shiro is gay and has an ex-fiancé is actually very funny because that means when he got back to earth after being held captive and forced to fight gladiator style in space prison his first and main concern was to get the FUCK back to space without alerting anyone else that he was on earth at all. and yanno what that is so valid i too would be so embarrassed and never want to see my ex again after he specifically told me not to go to space and i didn’t listen and that resulted in the break up of our almost marriage and on the space mission he told me not to go on i got alien kidnapped and thrown into the middle of an intergalactic war.

More Voltron AU!

Alien fugitive Fit who frequently steals/scavenges from Galra ships and settlements (and usually causes some mayhem too) frees human Pac from a work camp and takes him under his wing. Fitpac ensues, followed by relentless teasing from Tubbo, who went into space searching for Pac.

Fit used to be a gladiator for blood sport on a Galra cruiser before he found Ramon and they broke free together. Turns out Ramon's pretty handy with a fighter jet!

Ramon also engineered his arm and trident with the use of a balmera crystal shard they stole off a Galra encampment. He only wears it when necessary.

Fit's species come in many different colours. They are vaguely humanoid, and are known for their height and bulk, much like the Galra. Unlike the Galra, they have much less fur, usually only some hair at the very back of the head (Fit is fully bald though lmfao). Their skin is fairly smooth, but rubbery and thick like a whale's.

His species is a fairly new one, all things considered. Most have very short tails at the base of their spines as a holdover from when they lived in their planet's oceans, but they are usually almost unnoticeable.

They have several antler-like growths on the tops of their heads that drop off seasonally, which are often used for making tools or weapons. In the past, they were made into arrowheads, used to carve clay tablets, or embedded into clubs or other blunt weapons. They are also used as reminders of the fallen.

Their planet had no prior knowledge of aliens before they were invaded by the Galra. Following their planet's capture, they became a popular species for gladiators due to their size and build.

-Krolia meeting a young Adam while she's with Keith's dad and Keith's dad being a mentor/role model to Shiro

-Shiro and Adam reunite but are stiff thinking the other has moved on. They're only around each other when necessary unaware that they're also spending longer times together again - /and of course I still want him, but I can't when he's clearly moved on/ (cue Matt and Keith pulling a parent trap)

-Adam helps make Shiro a new hand

-trouble makers Adam, Matt, and Shiro (i.e. Matt and Shiro causing chaos while Adam tries to get them to chill)

- teenage Adam wanting to impress Shiro so he does something stupid that could actually result in explosion from the Garrison

-Shiro and Adam having relationships with the other Paladins before Kerberos (Pidge especially)

-Adam sees Kuron and Shiro fighting and is the meme of "hey what's x + x kuron: correct answer Adam: shoots him Paladins: that was the right answer Adam: yes, but Takashi always does this (cut to Shiro and Keith doing the same fucking movement)

- Adam giving Shiro a silent treatment for dying in space

-Adam thanks Haggar for curing Shiro before unaliving her

-nervous cadet crushes bc they're 50/50 if the other will say yes if asked on a date. Someone makes a remark on the other making Adam or Shiro punch someone. The fight is broken by the time the one who wasn't present gets there (or maybe they're pulling their crush off) and don't get the full story until the one who wasn't fighting is helping patch up the one who was

-they're roommates as cadets

-Adam or Shiro is roommates with Matt while the other has a single room (cue Matt doing his best in getting the two idiots together)

-young Keith unaware that Adam and Shiro are dating so he tries to get them together (he enlists Matt's help)

In all of this, here is my question: How does the clone remember anything that happened between bullet points 4-7?

Maybe he doesn't. Maybe his "memories" of that time are only spotty recreations based on Voltron's interactions with Zarkon/Haggar, and he's just faking remembering everything that happened those first months/year in space.

Or...

Maybe OG Shiro was already dead long before Ulaz came around, and (unbeknownst to him) Ulaz sent one of Haggar's first clones to Earth. Maybe it wasn't only Black's connection to Zarkon that gave them away but also Haggar keeping tabs on them through the first clone. Maybe clone Shiro's memories of the gladiator pits are so unreliable and spotty not only because of PTSD but because they weren't finished "uploading" the information.

Obviously there are weird issues with the timeline no matter how you slice it (mostly, I think, because the clone story line was tacked on as an afterthought when people got upset with them killing off a beloved character). It's just something I think about a lot.

Au where Shiro and Allura are immortals and trying to break into a museum to get their age old shit back and Lance is the security guard trying to shoo them away (no Shiro and Allura are not working together and in fact they didn't even know the other exist)

i must say non-canon aus are not always my jam but the vibes here are. immaculate. 👀

though i will concede to my bias and nudge this back into a semi-canon context and raise you: Allura wakes up from her sleep alone, decides to start trying to find the lions herself (maybe Coran wakes up too, maybe he's stuck in cryo, something something TBD). meanwhile Shiro was kidnapped by the Galra and made into a gladiator, just like in canon, but he is broken out by the rebels and/or the blade of marmora and recruited to also find voltron instead of being shipped immediately back to earth.

this all means the convergence happens a couple years down the line from the pilot in voltron, something something wibbly wobbly timey wimey. Lance has maybe advanced in his career at the Garrison, and instead of being a cadet is possibly a junior officer.

something something he's doing patrols/on guard duty one night, WHEN: shiro and allura, who have both separately been trying to find voltron, end up following leads back to Earth, converging on Blue at the same time. Lance is on a night shift and notices Something Fucking Weird in the sky, and being the over-eager and curious person we know he is, he decides to check it out himself.

something something they all end up in the cave, something something oh no they're hot. something something Blue chooses Lance. at some point Keith n Pidge n Hunk get involved, but the first bit is just Shiro + Allura rebel rivals, and Lance who is both actively Getting Up To Stuff but also all of this is kind of just happening to him, all at once. something something voltron, something something relationship development, something something and then they KISS.

The Original Voltron Adaptations Vs Their Original Japanese Counterparts.

Beast King Go-Lion:

Go-Lion/Voltron's backstory is that he got split due to his hubris after thinking he could take on the space goddess.

Voltron is a sentient being who lived long before time.

Voltron's title is king of the beasts.

All the pilots, save Fala/Allura, are from Earth.

All the boys are effectively in the same boat as VLD Shiro and have the gladiator backstory.

Earth is dead and gone, consumed by World War 3 by the start of the show.

Allura is canonically 16.

Raible/Coran's a strategist.

Altea/Arus's people were assumed to all be destroyed (especially the royal family), but they're all hiding out.

Allura's parents and siblings are executed by Daibazaal/Zarkon's hand while she was a year old baby. Zarkon didn't know she existed.

Hiroshi Suzuishi/Pidge is descended from Ninja.

There's so much blood and gore. People get cut in half vertically and horizontally. We get the privilege of watching people drop dead on screen with these horrifying faces and screams. Zarkon and Sincline/Lotor drink blood, too.

Honerva/Haggar has this bs called occult science.

Akira Kogane/Keith and Allura are so slowburn to the point it might not exist between them.

King Raimon/Alfor's ghost comes back from the grave to tell the paladins how much they suck.

Pidge threatens to eat the space mice twice.

Shirogane Takashi/Sven dies and and a later episode introduces his younger brother, Ryou/Sven, who was captured as a slave among others before Earth was fully destroyed.

Cannibalism

A tragic side character commits suicide at the end of an episode

Amue/Romelle's older brother is willingly turned into a robeast. Her older brother and father are both murdered by the Galra during a battle with Voltron.

Earth is completely destroyed and uninhabitable. The boys become honorary citizens of Arus.

A scene depicting Pidge's mother shows her seeing him off his mission. It's the last time he sees her.

Lotor has a dream about his mother where it suggests Zarkon had a hand in her disappearance. A flashback occurs showing us she was a good person and was killed for moral differences.

Coran's son, Saint/Garret, died as an infant while he and his mother were escaping from the castle. They are buried by a local group of people. The Galra dig up this grave to clone him.

Hys/Nanny is shot by Garret and dies.

A father-daughter bond is implied between Coran and Allura when the latter comforts the former after the Garret incident.

The Galran foot soldiers are living beings.

Romelle almost died via firing squad.

One notable robeast involved a snake like being who survived a civil massacre amongst her people and was introduced burying her deceased child. She adopts Pidge within the same episode. She dies at the end from blood loss.

Another notable side character was a sand person. Allura befriends this one by giving it her bracelet. The sand person is turned into a robeast. It's implied the sand person dies at the end, though it is unclear why.

During the final battle, Lotor sends out trapped prisoners in bubbles as bombs so Voltron can't move without killing them. Lotor also shoots them as missles. Haggar also shoots at the prisoners so Voltron can move and end Lotor's career.

Haggar's motive in helping Voltron lies in that Lotor killed Zarkon.

Haggar is Zarkon's mother.

Ryou dies fighting Lotor.

Honerva dies. Zarkon dies. Lotor dies.

Voltron: Defender of the Universe:

Arus is still alive, they just get attacked.

Voltron's backstory is that Haggar disguised herself as said space goddess and wrecked Voltron into five pieces.

Coran's a diplomat.

Allura grew up an only child and seldom saw her parents because they were busy.

Sven is severely injured and is, instead, sent to another planet to recuperate, but gets captured as a slave on planet Doom and thinks he's crazy.

King Alfor built Voltron.

Zarkon has a nephew

Pidge has a sister who's stated to be training as a pilot.

That same tragic side character is said to have returned to her home planet offscreen

Romelle's older brother is willingly turned into a robeast. He swims out to see in the middle of a battle with Voltron. Romelle's father in consequence goes mad and is implied to have died as a result.

Balto is ravaged by Lotor's forces. Pidge becomes an honourary citizen of Arus.

Pidge is an orphan and the scene of his mother depicts his adoption

Lotor has a dream about Allura instead. Allura's nightmare shows us she's afraid of Zarkon.

Coran's son, Garret, and his wife are said to be alive in another dimension they were beamed to when the Galra attacked them. The clone is robotic like.

The Doom foot soldiers are robots.

Romelle was sentenced to be shot by a firing squad with stun guns.

Lotor and Haggar look for a new robeast victim among the Medusans. Audibly noting that they're all in a deep rest. That Medusan lady chooses to adopt Pidge. She also gets hurt, but it's implied she lives.

The episode about the sand people goes relatively the same way. However, the sand person is stated to be exhausted, but alive.

Sven is injured and sent back to planet Pollux to heal.

During the final battle, Lotor sends out robots in bubbles to trap Voltron. Keith can't move him because the bombs would blow up in their face. Lotor shoots them as missiles. Haggar shoots them down so Voltron can end Lotor's career.

Zarkon lives. Haggar lives. Lotor lives.

Pidge has a brother, Chip.

Director Wakasa/Marshal Graham is peeved the people aren't taking Drule threat seriously.

Drake/Mongo dies. Teles/Hazar has a devastating reaction to it.

Graves

Krik is implied to be a prince.

Sirk/Dorma has no biological relation to Hazar and instead is his adjutant.

Hazar's father is a Homeworld secretary socrat and he's immediately dismissed from this position when Hazar returns to Galveston.

Planet Mira has flowers similar to purple orange-spotted flowers.

The Vehicle team learned space combat at the space fortress.

The queen of Eldora states the Galran frontline base is east of the planet Eldora, in the area where the blue light shines.

Earth gets attacked, and are fending off the Galra.

Kazuto Nagato/Hutch and Tasuku Izu/Marvin insult the three girls. They're mad because Kai Shinobu/Rocky previously talked about Emma/Twyla continuously, whilst Hutch says he grows tired of the three. Ginger trips Hutch and he cries.

Commander Twyla dies.

The crew of the Space Explorer play rugby with a squad of Galra soldiers. They all die.

Both the buck and the fawn die.

The two dolphins die. One was a calf. The mother swims head on to a bomb.

Ginger is grievously injured, and is piloting her machine while fighting off sleep medication. She is dedicated to fighting by her team.

Hazar hesitates to land a killing blow and his gun is shot from his hand. Dorma shoots the body guard and in pain he shoots about wildly, accidentally striking Emperor Corsair/Zeppo - who dies.

The date by the time of the Drule evacuation is Feb 9 in the space year 2203.

Commander Newley agrees the Drules should have the third planet of the 26 system as they have nowhere to go.

Commander Hazar is assassinated by three Galveston soldiers. One of whom is Sandu's younger brother.

Jeff gives Lisa's necklace to Hazar's corpse.

Voltron: Defender of The Universe - Vehicle:

The Galaxy Garrison's motive is to find a second planet because Earth is suffering overpopulation.

It's implied the Vehicle Team and crew already encountered Hazar. He is described as a pirate.

The Vehicle Force call themselves the Voltron Force.

The Vehicle Force can only stay combined for five minutes.

Lisa is implied go be an alien.

Wolo's planet has seven moons.

There is a spy aboard the Galaxy Cruiser for the Drules. This is never touched upon again.

The food is crap.

Krik's from a water planet and it was at one point saved by Voltron.

Krik has ESP abilities.

The Drule have a confirmed child soldier among their ranks.

Shannon's brother was taken prisoner and is currently being held on Planet Doom.

Commander Hawkins pours hot chocolate from kettles.

Wolo's brother is implied to have survived the encounter with the beast.

Lisa talks about past African civilization when the Force is stalled on the weather planet.

Episode 45. Episode 45 is way too funny. Krik and Cinda crave coconuts out of the blue, ask Commander Hawkins if they can stop at a planet for some, and Krik salutes to his commander that it was a 'dumb idea'.

Ginger has PTSD from an experience as a child where she survived a ship blowing up.

The Drule home-world had destructive material buried under the surface.

Hazar spares Zeppo, but the latter's body is slumped on the throne.

Captain Newley relocates the Drule to a planet in the fourth quadrant in the far galaxy.

Hazar lives.

Krik is passive-aggressive.

The Drule blow up perfectly good planets they can't have.

Jeff, when he takes the first shift as Commander, is disgusted and reluctant to sit beside Commander Hawkins much to the amusement of the man.

The Drule homeworld is getting hotter. All the residents have moved below ground, and starvation is prominent.

Krik pilots Voltron when Jeff is out of commission.

Krik shoves a whole gun into Jeff's pants.

not to post about voltron in the year of our lord 2023 but i never understood why people went crazy over lance when shiro is far and away the most interesting character in voltron. he's a half-japanese borderline suicidal gay man with severe muscle degeneration and an amputated arm which was replaced by a prosthetic (made by his torturers !!) who was captured and made to fight as a gladiator by an advanced alien power for a year. he manages to escape and crash-land back on earth only to be forced to lead a group of teenagers to save the universe. this is all (apart from the confirmed gay and muscle degeneration) revealed in the first half of season one. lance is the definition of just some guy.

team voltron murder headcanons <3

keith: he slices some galra's head off to save a teammate. he has no reaction in the following moments or for the rest of the mission but once he's alone again he freaks the fuck out and has a moral conundrum. he isolates himself for weeks except for doing missions and talking to shiro about it. shiro has special keith freak out privileges.

hunk: absolutely capable of it. cries for an hour immediately afterwards but then he's fine. processes it out loud for a week though not caring who hears.

lance: it was an accident. he thought they were a sentry from where he was sniping. cries and blubbers about it for weeks on end. never fully gets over it really even after he has to do it over and over again. will definitely need sooooo much therapy once this war is over. like emdr or something.

pidge: honestly cannot bring herself to care that much about it. logics herself out of feeling bad. this is a war. of course she as a soldier in a war will need to kill some people. why is lance so upset.

shiro: numb to it. "guys, the galra had me fight as a gladiator for years," he tells the team when they question why he doesn't seem to care about the fact that they've killed people. "we... know?" they are all confused as to why this is being presented as new information. "did you think they just patched up the losers? come on. this is the galra we're talking about." the solemn air of this admission is ruined as shiro laughs at the realization that dawns on the teams' faces. he is so normal.

allura: she does her best to incapacitate rather than kill but she's definitely willing to if there are no other options. she is more repressed about it than anyone. she goes about her daily life pretending she's fine and doesn't care even though she's thinking about the fact she killed someone for 16 vargas a quintant.

coran: "i was charged with protecting the princess while the galra attacked altea. trust me, they were after her! but i wouldn't let them hurt my princess, you bet not! i went like THIS and THAT and--" he spends a varga miming all the ways he killed galra soldiers and then asks "hey wait where are you all going?" when the team tries to discreetly slip away. he will proudly tell you his body count.

ok new question for the quintenary stars folk. I was originally only going to write two little sidepieces (matt's lost years [eclipse], and pre kerberos garrison adashi) but now I'm thinking about maybe doing another for shiro's lost year before escaping and finding voltron.

if I did do this, it would have lots of shiro whump and would probably be pretty heavy given the subject matter. basically 100% angst. what do we think
