hi! can you give me any peterick recs please? ive already read all of your works on ao3 (amazing btw) and soooo many other peterick fics and i need new things to read, even just tell me about stuff your reading now or read recently cos i need something

okay first off thank you so much for reading my fics, i'm so glad you like them!! and i sort of suck at recs because i never really bookmark anything or remember stuff lol, but heres what comes to mind rn!

currently i'm rereading Girl Out Boy, which is really good but also very serious in it's tone and goes deep into sexism in the scene and basically i only read it when I'm ready to deal with all that stuff lol not when i'm looking for something light and easy and fun. but it's amazing and 191K words in total as a series, so it'll def keep you busy for a bit!

lost in the falling dark is one that i read a long time ago and remember really liking so i've queued it up to reread soon. if it's not actually as good as i remember than sorry lol but i remember it as a good read. it's more ships than just peterick tho, so if you're looking for Just Peterick then thats not this

I've Got Nothing to Confess is one that i really really love. i personally am always looking for fics that go into bdsm dynamics and do it well or in an interesting way, and this is one of the main examples of that that i love! and it's got a part two that is also amazing

Trying to Keep You Mine has like AMAZING porn lol so def check it out if thats what you're looking for

also, i always recommend to check out the rest of an authors works when you read and enjoy one of them, so if you like these recs, check out the other ones by the authors!

some other authors I recommend: SnitchesAndTalkers does some of my favorite fucking writing of all timeeeee and has some slightly longer fics, Gala_Apples has written like fifty million fics lol so i usually recomend to go looking there because if you'll prob find some you like, putthedindirtbaby has some super hot pwp, Pyrchance is like one of my favorite authors on ao3 for anything i'm ever looking for tbh, glitterandrocketfuel is another go-to rec for me, so is laudanum_cafe, appleremix writes some reeeeeally hot fics and is generally a talented writer, littlesnowpea has good stuff, i haven't read a whole lot of dancealonetoheartbreak's work but what i have read i've enjoyed

Of All The Gin Joints In All The World by semi_sweet Patrick and Pete are both bartenders in this one, working at very different bars. There’s cute friendship between Pete and Gabe, photography, smut, and several points where you’ll want to beat Patrick to death with his own fedora. 

The Mobstruck AU by @glitterandrocketfuel Soul Punk era Patrick and Malibu Pete! Patrick is a bartender/pool boy in the first instalment, in the second the boys open a bar of their own. Honestly, if I tried to summarise the hinjks, you’d think I was making shit up. Hilarious, sexy, witty, I think you’ll love this one!

Like a Wave by @the-chaotic-panda This one is bartender Pete, but it’s sweet and poignant with some lovely humour sprinkled on top. Patrick is questioning his sexuality, so he travels to The Phoenix, a gay resort in NorCal.

i was tagged by @carbonbased000 like 2 weeks ago, but i'd done zero writing in a long time. it was only a few days ago i started another fic and remembered i got tagged in this, so. this is technically two sentences but what you gonna do:

The moment Joe or Patrick get old enough to sort out the band logistics that come with going on tour, Pete is screwed; the moment they don’t need to stand behind Pete Wentz’s name, they’ll get a better bassist, he's sure of it. And who could even fucking blame them?

this is a fic i just called "andy fic" about andy's integration into the band and pete becoming jealous because patrick acts like a bit of a fanboy around andy. it's also about each of them slotting into the band and becoming fall out boy as we know it back in 2002/3. but mainly it's pete and patrick being idiots around each other. because that's the only thing i know how to write.

it's been a while since i wrote from pete's pov, but funnily enough i'm finding it easier than all the other wips that are from patrick's pov rn, so maybe it was needed.

Christmas spirit should have just enough girth to really fill that hole...except that as far as Christmas spirit goes, Patrick's so over being left alone for silent nights after the miracle mornings. Will Pete get his bell rung in time for Christmas, or will the Pole move Patrick's name from the Naughty List to the Shit list?

My Bloody Valentine by @thatbluelight Pete’s sister is in the hospital. Patrick works in the hospital gift shop. Oh, and Patrick’s also a vampire. 

Number One with a Bullet by @the-chaotic-panda​ Patrick is a hitman and Pete works for a cartel. Patrick is also British and has very nice biceps. 

WFOB by Gorgeous Nerd A sports anchor AU I had no idea I knew I needed, since I know nothing of sports, or the people who anchor it. Pete works as a sports anchor, and Patrick’s the new lead.

Clandestine Boys (Have Nothing to Hide) by FictionalAspect Patrick needs money and Pete runs a porn studio. There is... surprisingly little porn for a porn AU, but it’s funny and sweet and Patrick is adorably confused by the fact that his life has culminated in this. 

Sympathy in the form of you by frais Pete moves into a new apartment after his divorce is finalised. Patrick lives across the hall. It’s soul punk era, a little bit of kidfic, amazing smut, angsty.

i try to! i'm not always the best at doing so in a timely manner, i need to get better at that, but i appreciate the hell out of each and every one

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

'Til Your Heart Goes Numb, for sure. i like it, i think it's haunting in the way i wanted and it's certainly spooky and sad if that's what you want in a halloween fic, but well, 3/4 of fob end up dead lol. i don't think it's something i'd write nowadays, i've gotten soft in the 3 years since i wrote it.

7. Do you write crossovers? If so what’s the craziest one you’ve written?

no. said i'll be fine came closest in that it's loosely based on the movie 50/50, but no outright crossovers.

8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

not exactly, but back in the late 2000s the fic commenting scene was... quite different, and critiques about grammar and stuff were much more common. occasionally i'd post a fic and get a little paragraph of notes about my bad grammar or how my interpretation of a character wasn't as good as theirs lol. constructive criticism was encouraged, and sometimes the line between being constructive and just being kind of a petty dick was very thin. i'm glad things are different nowadays.

9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?

it features in my fics, yeah, but it's usually second to the characters and the plot tbh. i don't think i'm great at smut and sometimes it's not as fun as writing the build up lol. i can't imagine i'd write a fic that's entirely smut or kink.

10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

not that i know of *touches wood*

no, but that'd be awesome!

12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

no, but that'd also be awesome! i did rp on dreamwidth from 2011 to like 2017, and the way we used to rp in games on that site was basically an unorganised way of co writing a fic tbh. a fic that changed povs every few paragraphs, but still.

13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?

...peterick. tbh it is difficult, because as long as the hyperfixation is on a ship, that's gonna be my all time favourite lol. but right now it's peterick.

14. What’s a wip that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

ugh, don't make me look at all these gdocs.

okay, there is a fic that lives permanently in my head and has done since 2019. it's a childhood friends to lovers thing where patrick lives on a farm as a child, but finds a stray wolf/large dog in the woods nearby. he brings it home and oh, what do ya know, it turns into a boy named pete, who can turn into a wolf at will. pete and patrick are close friends as kids, but grow apart and pete disappears - then there's a timeskip and they reunite as adults, and they fall in love. it's a slow burn coming of age friends to lovers thing, as well as all manner of other stuff.

it probably sounds stupid and convoluted and stuff, but it's very vivid in my head. the problem comes when trying to write any of this down. it's all perfect in my head, but nothing sounds right when put to paper. my perfectionism i guess, will ensure it doesn't get written, sigh.

15. What are your writing strengths?

i think i'm pretty good at getting emotions across. i also like writing dialogue and like to hope i'm alright at that.

16. What are your writing weaknesses?

the above mentioned perfectionism: i cannot for the life of me write without editing as i go. i procrastinate... a lot. i also don't think i'm great at descriptive scenes or like, working out where characters are or exactly what they're doing at any given moment lol

17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

i'm for it! context probably matters, and i think if the pov character understands then it should probably be translated in some way, but yeah. i don't see any problem with it!

18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

it was friends fandom, back in 2008 lol. my first fic was called 'friends season 11' and written in script format...

19. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

it's probably a tie between said i'll be fine and sunshine riptide.

I'm Coasting on Potential Toward a Wall (and Your Naked Magic, Oh Dear Lord) by PadawanRyan “I wish the goblins would come take you away right now!”  He wasn’t sure what prompted him to say that. He had been writing about goblins lately, but his lyrics were absolute shit and Patrick wouldn’t have blamed himself had he decided to scrap the whole mythical aspect of the song for something less…childish. But goblins were on his mind and the wish came out of his mouth before he even realized what he was saying.

Finally Found the Feeling by intocooperstown Pete and Patrick may or may not be doing a Couple's Costume, and it may or may not be A Thing.

When Evening Shadows and the Stars Appear by OpenEndedDoor Fake haunted house attractions can't scare Pete. He definitely doesn't need the cute guy he just met to hold his hand the whole way through. Part haunted house adventure, part ode to Bob Dylan, with enough fluff to rival your biggest Halloween candy haul!

Takeaways from reflecting on your kick-ass writing, or kick-ass lack of writing, during a year more focused on survival than perhaps any other:

I’m really proud of myself! I learned more about rest and what I need as an introvert during this quarantine than ever before. chiefly: I was really gratified to see inspiration return to me, in small but significant ways, as the year wore on and I logged more and more time at home with respite from the constant interaction and socialization of pre-pandemic life. the most helpful trick for me this year was buying a cool pen and focusing on writing by hand! I need a break from screens and writing in a notebook like I used to feels really good, and ‘productive’ in a meaningful way since I can see pages fill up under my hands and it feels like I’m impacting my environment, rather than focused on How Long Did You Spend! How Much Did I Accomplish! Am I Valid Yet!

the other takeaway is I should probably find a f/f fandom since all I write is girlfic anymore??? someone tell me where to go

Most surprising fic you wrote this year:

it’s a tie between Making It, because I did it in a weekend on the shortest imaginable notice for a challenge and it was super fun and exhilarating, and WABDMYC, because I have never written lana/marina fic and I didn’t mean to, it just came out in an explosive and delicious rush after I did a song prompt ask thing on tumblr.

Best thing that happened this you because you write fic:

every year it’s community! fic connects me to so many people and it is pure magic. The big highlights this year were watching @alienfuckeronmain and @newleafover descend into LOTR fandoms and then recently into Merthur, because witnessing it feels like going home, making new friends to shout about lyrics with ((even though I am an absentee in our discussion group, oops, if you ever want to message me please do but know that I will avoid that notification like the plague even though I dearly want to talk to you, I am The Worst)), and the magic of a new friendship with @carbonbased000 , who, despite barely knowing me, was instantly and effortlessly there for me when I was shattered by the death of my cat (and the only person awake when I was wracked with grief insomnia, thank you timezones) and who turns out to have the twin of my heart beating in her chest. I never would have met you if we didn’t write stories about the same idiots falling in love, and that is a tragedy not worth imagining. thank you to everyone who made this year not just bearable but full of wonder.

How you grew as a writer this year:

um I wrote this question and I don’t know how to answer it. one way I grew was taking the time to write in the mornings before work (thank you, work from home) even when I didn’t feel like it. I rediscovered some magic that way. next year I hope to keep working on the project of chasing down my inspiration instead of waiting for it to strike.

If someone’s going to read just one of your 2020 fics, which one should they read?

Wolves Dressed As Wolves! it's less personal than any of the others written during this odd, quirky year, but it’s some of the most beautiful work I think I have ever done. 10/10 would recommend!
