Language plays a crucial role in day-to-day life. It aids in communicating our thoughts, aspirations, and concerns to others around us. However, it’s not possible to express our ideas and perceptions without communicating with others.
In this modern era, learning multiple languages has become a crucial skill. Among all the languages, English is incredibly important to learn. It is regarded as an essential tool for interpersonal communication and is the most widely spoken language in the entire world.
In this blog post, we will discuss the importance of the English language and the demand for it throughout the world.
An introduction to English
English is the second most extensively used language in the world. While English-speaking countries account for over 40% of the global GNP, it is the official language in 70 countries. The language was derived from Old and Middle English at the beginning of the last millennium. However, it can be used anywhere with educated people from all over the world. For everybody who knows English, it can be used in media like pop music, movies, TV, and music (Bond, Michael, 1751).
The importance of English
English is recognized as the first worldwide language. It has been assimilated into every field in the contemporary world. Let’s review the importance of this language.
It has served as a universal language for information technology, business, entertainment, science, and other endeavors.
In today's society, literacy is the ability to read and write in English.
English language proficiency is regarded and valued as a sign of excellent education.
For individuals who speak this language, there is an ocean of job options available to them everywhere.
Therefore, it is now a necessity for many professions, including those in computing and medicine, as well as for the working of English.

English serves as the primary language for worldwide publication, research, and technology as well as for international air traffic control. According to conservative estimates, 1,500,000,000 people speak it, whereas other estimates put the number at 800,000,000.
It also plays a key role in business. Only 32% of companies demand French, whereas 80% of them prefer English as a foreign language.
According to Stockinger's research, secretaries need to speak English on the phone, while technicians need to read technical literature in English.

To fully make use of the internet's potential, English proficiency is crucial. So, everyone needs to have a basic understanding of English to access the internet.
English makes you smarter.
Learning English is not only beneficial, but it also provides a great deal of satisfaction and makes you feel fantastic. The Conclusion
English is without a doubt the most widespread language in the world due to the United States' dominance in politics and business. More than 380 million people worldwide use English as their first language, and it is used by newspapers, publishers, scientists, businesses, and politicians. Nonetheless, western culture plays a vital role in maintaining it and leveraging this influence to push the word to become a universal language. So, learning English is crucial if you want to land a reputable job in today's cutthroat job market.

Hello, Guys! My name is Rosane. I'm 29 years old and I'm an Inventory Assistant at a Cornershop. I've been studying English since I was a teenager, but I took a break and came back now because of work. I use English for working, listening to music and watching video clips. Nowadays, I need English because of my work to improve my writing and my speech so that I can be fluent in the language, but the English language is present in many ways in my routine such as music, cars, clothing brands, culture and lifestyle.
Nowadays, I'm using English a lot more than before, because of my work. When I started in the language in my teens, I studied less effectively than I do now that I need to be fluent. English has become a much more spoken language than any other, despite having some research that reports it is not the first global language, but I believe it is, because unanimously you can communicate even with a few sentences or words. I believe learning English has become easier and more necessary than before. As I reported before, the language is present in everything, for example names, objects, clothes, cars, music and so. The need we have to be a differentiator starts with the language, as this can offer a better position. Anyway, I'm sure that English is the easiest way to communicate with other countries with the same language and also an opportunity for employment and study.

Global Language
This picture was taken in the Notre Dame Basilica in Ottawa, Canada during my spring break. In terms of language, Canada is a very interesting country to study due to its bilingual use of both English and French, especially in the province of Quebec. In fact, both languages are considered the country’s official languages. In addition to this, the French that the Canadians use is considered to be different from standard French and is a distinctive and separate Quebec French. In this cathedral, located in the capital of the country, the plaque is appropriately written in both languages. However, it also happens to be that both languages are global languages. A global language is a language that is widely spoken and often replaces indigenous languages. Today, English is one of the most widely spoken languages and is taught in schools all over the world. French is also a widely spoken language due to its spread by colonialism and since then, its remaining effects can still be seen today in African countries such as Algeria and Côte d’Ivoire. Although speaking the same language is convenient and efficient in terms of communication for business and social connections, it often results in people forgetting their indigenous language that connects them to their culture.
Communication
This is a picture of my brother’s birthday card that my family and I had written for him. Writing a card is a simple way of communicating our appreciation and love for him on such a special day. Communication is the process of sending and receiving messages and our card would constitute the sending portion while his response of “Thank you” would make up the receiving portion. Within the card, two languages are used to express the family’s best birthday wishes for him. Language is a way to communicate using a shared set of symbols and although two different sets of symbols were used, the messages portrayed were still the same.

English in the Media
Ximena Arrache // A01176802
                                         “English in the media”
In this essay I will be discussing how the English language has impacted global media, and how the entertainment industry is taking over said media in countries with English as their first language as well as in countries in which English is their second or third language. I will be focusing on the United states, because of their outlook on Media and Entertainment  provides an overview of industry trends in on-demand media, personalized content, changing business models, and the emergence of new technology. And because they have the most global influence in their society that has grown to spotlight events happening around “Celebrities”and their everyday life that has now a global audience.
According to The library of congress: “Even during "Hard Times" and wartime, people need to be entertained. The American people in the 1930s and 1940s were no exception. They enjoyed many forms of entertainment, particularly if they could do so inexpensively.” And with the addition of sound, movies became increasingly popular, American films reached theaters in the early 1940s. Radio was also wildly popular, offering many kinds of programs, from sermons to soap operas.Deloitte US says “Now days Millennials  spend more time streaming content than watching it on television, and more than 20 percent of them are viewing shows on their mobile devices. Streaming services are growing rapidly, with around 60 percent of consumers using them monthly.”
Globalization takes an important part on why English is so commonly used, most social media and entertainment is originally in English, although most can be translated to the language your country speaks, there is content like videos, songs, movies, and stories that are better appreciated in their own language. Social media is also a big influencer in society today, websites such as facebook, instagram twitter and youtube are now used by millions of users around the world on a daily basis and have a large number of English speaking users who stream their ideas and content which are viewed by people all around the world.  According to selectusa.gov  “The U.S. media and entertainment (M&E) industry is a $703 billion market, comprised of businesses that produce and distribute motion pictures, television programs and commercials along with streaming content, music and audio recordings, broadcast, radio, book publishing, and video games, along with ancillary services and products.”The entertainment industry for the United States is their biggest market yet, given that it is so popular now, new jobs are now revolving around the internet era and video producing. Today The U.S. M&E market, represents a third of the global industry, and is the largest M&E market worldwide. The U.S. industry is expected to reach $804 billion by 2021, according to the Entertainment & Media Outlook by PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
The generation, denominated “Millennials”, has grown into a world full of technological advancements and an era of social media domination in which teenagers now spend most of their time browsing the internet and interacting with people all around the world. Everyone with access to the internet has the opportunity to learn almost anything, it is increasingly easy to learn a new language and learn new cultures through web research. The English language is dominant in the most popular TV shows, Movies, songs and even books, “Millions of young people across the world have grown to like the sounds produced by English-speaking bands. Sub-titled films from Hollywood have given millions of non-English speakers the chance to imitate James Cagney, Marilyn Monroe, Robert De Niro and Harrison Ford.” says the BBC news magazine. The English language thanks to social media and the entertainment industry is found and appreciated from a global perspective.
