i love it when a tv show has lows that are so low you're so ashamed to ever show it to anyone ever but then highs that melt your brain a bit, like, "good fucking god, this is genuinely such an astounding piece of craftmanship... my perception of the medium, and perhaps of myself, has been challenged/changed in 40 minutes" but you cant even express that to ppl without feeling like youre fucking deranged bc my god the lows .....

i think declan touching doyle’s hand and saying ‘i remember you…’ and doyle responding ‘i’m sorry’ was the perfect way to end the emily & doyle & declan arc. it’s the perfect way to show that in a horrible, dysfunctional way they were a family (forced to be!!) and even though emily and doyle wanted each other dead and declan lives without both of them, a little bit of each other will live in all of them forever. honestly including this in the same ep where it’s revealed declan was born through doyle keeping his mother captive to force her to give birth, and emily’s disgust at that really makes this arc more powerful and tragic. like - she had to live with that man and make loving him believable. she had to believe 100% she was in love for him for this to work, not to mention she was further trapped by actually caring for declan and wanting to know he was okay. it’s a painful, confusing situation with no good outcome. if it’s not believable, you die and compromise the operation. if you believe it, you compromise your morality and identity and when everything ends you feel as though you’ve destroyed your home, your family. emily was left feeling so empty. god <//3

some 1x2 ep praise for marcille. ive never seen such an accurate and kind portrayal of not just feeling like you have to overact/double down - even in seemingly insensible ways - to prove youre useful and special at what you do, but the frustration and even spitefulness that comes with that feeling too.
she's straight up like "yeah i didnt like being called a burden and wanted you all proved wrong and to be super duper sorry" and yeah that motivation can sound illogical and petty if you havent been there. but for folks who have, at least for me, its a really earnest depiction of how sometimes, the need to overcompensate does manifest in non-ideallic ways like that. it doesnt always just lay dormant in you. it hurts to feel pushed aside, and you only act against that cause thats not what you want.
and the fact its not demonized at all, laios is just like "you didnt need to do that because youre our magic user and you will always be needed and important" ( and whats more, her method did do something good even if it was dangerous ) . if you're someone who gets stubborn from feeling chronically unimportant cause you don't feel special or knowledgeable enough at Your Thing. i think its not only commendable but a little healing too.

I love gilora so much and it's a shame she's a one episode wonder in destiny. 'chief o'brien I would never neg you for being a human! goodness, can you imagine. I'm negging you for being a man in STEM'
she's such a funny window into a side of cardassian culture we haven't been allowed to peek into before this. 'I'm here to do science eat alien food and more importantly eat alien p -- ' *ulani hurriedly claps a hand over her mouth to avoid a diplomatic Incident*
