Finding Refuge in God Trusting Him Through Life's Storms Nahum 17

Nahum 1:7 – Trusting God in the Day of Trouble

We’ve all experienced "days of trouble"—moments in life when everything seems to be falling apart, when the weight of the world feels like it’s too much to bear. In those moments, Nahum 1:7 gives us a promise that brings hope: “The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.”

Recognizing the Day of Trouble

Trouble comes in many forms. It might be a financial crisis, the loss of a loved one, health problems, or the stress of everyday life piling up until it feels overwhelming. Whatever form it takes, trouble can make us feel isolated and defeated. But Nahum 1:7 tells us that in the day of trouble, we are not alone—God is with us, and He is good.

God as Our Stronghold

In times of trouble, many people search for security. Some turn to friends and family, others to distractions like entertainment or material comforts. But Nahum points us to the ultimate source of security: God. He is our stronghold—a fortress that cannot be shaken, no matter how fierce the storm.

When we run to God in our trouble, we are not escaping reality; we are finding safety in the only One who can truly protect us. His strength is greater than our weakness, and His protection is stronger than anything life throws at us.

Trusting God’s Knowledge of Us

One of the most comforting parts of Nahum 1:7 is the reminder that God knows those who trust in Him. He doesn’t just know about us—He knows us intimately. He sees our struggles, our pain, and our fears. And because He knows us, He can meet us in exactly the way we need.

Trusting in God doesn’t mean that all our problems will instantly disappear, but it does mean that we are never walking through them alone. We can trust that He is working for our good, even when we can’t see it.

Conclusion

Nahum 1:7 reminds us that in the day of trouble, we have a stronghold in God. He is good, He is strong, and He knows us. Whatever you’re facing today, remember that God is your refuge, and you can trust Him to carry you through.

Have you ever doubted your earthly parents love? Have you doubted the authenticity of friends or family if they really know you and care about you? We may be let down by our friends and family but God will never betray us. Before God even started to form you in your mother's womb He knew you. He knew the number of hairs that would be on your head. He knew when and where you would be born. He the trials and heartache you would face. He knew everything about you before you were born and set you apart, appointed with a purpose in life only you could fulfill. When God calls you He does not call and then leave you. He does not tell you to do something and leave you with no means of doing it. God will always equip His children with the means to carry out His will. Never will He ask you to do the impossible. With God all things are possible.

HAPPY SATURDAY FAMILY 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹Today’s Scripture “...Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock...” (Matthew 7:24, NIV) Still Standing after the Storm The Scripture says, “Your Father sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” Being a person of faith doesn’t exempt you from difficulties. Jesus told a parable about a wise man who built his house on a rock. This man honored God. Another man foolishly built his house on the sand. He didn’t honor God. Then the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on the houses of both the just and the unjust. But after the storm was over, the house built on the rock was still standing. The house built on the sand was completely ruined. 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻 You may get knocked down and go through some dark, stormy times, but that’s just a part of life. It rains on everybody. The difference is that when you honor God, when you stay in faith, you have God’s promise that when the storm clears, you won’t be the victim; you’ll be the victor.
