everybody out here either a. getting hyped for wottg, b. tearing the three chapters we have to shreds, or c. chanting the names of characters they want to appear (mostly alabaster). i don't feel it's right to build up or tear down a book when we only have a small snippet of it, but i can name my major hope for wottg: i want a percabeth fight.
it doesn't have to be super big, it doesn't have to last all that long, and it doesn't have to be over something significant. i just want them to argue. i want them to disagree on something. i want them to be snappy. i want them to raise their voices at each other, if only a little bit. i want to see percy's inner thoughts before, during, and after. i want them to be petty afterwards.
again, i don't care if it's just something as simple as bickering. i just want it to happen. percabeth may be a near-perfect relationship, but nothing is truly flawless. humans are complicated, relationships are complicated, and i feel like it'd make the two that much more human to see that reflected in the book.

"Willoughby could not hear of her marriage without a pang; ... For Marianne, however, in spite of his incivility in surviving her loss, he always retained that decided regard which interested him in every thing that befell her, and made her his secret standard of perfection in woman; and many a rising beauty would be slighted by him in after-days as bearing no comparison with Mrs. Brandon."
I'm normally too focused on 'well, well, if it isn't the consequences of your own actions' to really think about how this sort of thing would affect Marianne, but I mean, it's quite creepy, right??
Imagine you're living your life, happy with your husband, healed and flourishing, and every now and then you find out your HORRID ex is insulting other young women (and they must be young, if they're a 'rising beauty') by invoking your name. Like leave her alone, Willoughby!! You hurt her enough. She was 17 (to your 25) when she was in love with you, she's grown up, seen you for who you really are, and moved on. There's something incredibly selfish about even after treating Marianne so horribly, he refuses to stop associating her name with his own. I wonder how many people would know of Marianne PURELY because Willoughby casually mentions (many times) a young lady has no resemblance to her.
No one wants their worst ex to keep haunting the edges of their life.

I actually really want Eugene to officiate the Varigo wedding because one, it’s not a very official or proper wedding. If anything, it’s something Rapunzel and Varian put together in one week and is essentially just a giant party where they blow stuff up and eat cake. Varian totally asks Eugene thirty minutes beforehand if he will officiate and after five minutes of sobbing, he agrees.
And two, because I want him to say this line-
“It has been a joy to watch your distracting childish rivalry turn into a distracting childish courtship, which will undoubtedly turn into a distracting childish marriage.”

the infantilisation of el needs to be studied.
el is not this baby, she uses violence as a way to deal with things and often cares about herself more than other. that doesn't make her a bad character or even a bad person, but people need to understand she's not perfect either.
