The Abhorsen family tree(as close as I can make it) SPOILERS BELOW, this is a long one
Tumblr media
As disjointed as it is, The Abhorsens are highlighted in green, with their known place in the timeline. There are so many i couldn't connect, and only some are named. Blue are members of the Clayr Bloodline present in the tree, and orange are members of the Royal Bloodline. Un-highlighted means they are either related by marriage/partnership or did not obtain the Abhorsen title. This is a link to the wiki where i was able to piece together some of them.https://oldkingdomwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Abhorsen , There are some i don't mention that have a concrete placement.
The clearest concrete Abhorsen however (Other than their namesake) is Kalliel, who is number 12, while 13 is her unnamed grandson. Even Clariel/Chlorr is a part of the family(Her grandfather-Tyriel) at roughly 600 years before Sabriel/Lirael.
There are 16 more named, but out of order Abhorsens. I have done my best to put them in order(I just don't know their official position)
Soraniel (m)
Feriniel (f)
Madarael (f)
Kariniel (f)
Tyriel, Teriel(A-I-W, before death) and Yannael(A-I-W, before Belatiel)
Belatiel
Jaramiel
Jerizael
Alleil
Herraniel/Tizaniel (siblings, but unknown order)
Then of course, there are named ones who I dont even have a hint for:
Cassiel (Lirael wields their bells)
Yezael
Ulamiel
Bannatiel
Keramitiel
Anyway, I hope this is remotely correct and that you enjoyed
EDIT: Looking at this, it looks like Elinor and Terciel are distant cousins? Since the family tree is funky, but the wiki says Elinor is "Of the line of Tizanael", she's also descended from an Abhorsen
(G-G-Grandparent Jeremiel) herself.
EDIT 2: Added names i forgot that have rough placement

Abhorsen/Garth Nix Appreciation post!
So I needed to get my butt over to Tumblr as it appears all The Old Kingdom fans are here haha. MY PEOPLE!
So I've pulled together a bunch of Old Kingdom items I've made (not all of them, I sold out of my Abhorsen's Sword and Mogget a while ago) or am in the process of trying to get made (I've tagged each photo with a link to the item or KS) I will forever want to make stuff for this series.
(Carry on reading below for a baby faced me with Garth Nix at the end lol)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I refer to Sabriel as my heart book. I read it at least once almost every year haha, more so during years where I need to be grounded. I first had the story on cassette tape (god I am old) at 13 years old. I listened to it so much i destroyed all the tapes!! I am soon to be 34 so that gives you an idea of how long this book/series has been part of my life.
I have been asked if I will make other charter marks or a set of bells and the answer is I don't know, maybe?? I haven't thought too much about what specific Old Kingdom merch I want to make next.

Ending with a flashback to my bookselling years, at the Goldenhand event at Waterstones Deansgate in 2016! (I don't think I've ever shared a picture of myself on Tumblr so I'm sorry it's me of 2016 but Hi! I'm Fiona if you don't alreasy know hehe)

What did you dislike about Goldenhand? I just listened to it for the first time yesterday. Also I agree I would have rather seen Lirael end up with Ferin.
Oh its been So long since I last read it, so i really cant remember. I just remember that I didnt enjoy it very much, and that Lirael should have ended up with Ferin

I鈥檓 reading Goldenhand and I鈥檓 finding the editing quite strange. This constant swap between Ferin and Lirael鈥檚 chapters gives both plots such a stop-and-start feel that makes it hard to get into. I don鈥檛 get why it wasn鈥檛 laid out in a three act structure like the previous books.

Currently obsessed with the Old Kingdom series.
So the Abhorsen family tree/line is HUGE(Sabriel and Lirael are 53 and 54 after all) and it spans almost 1000 years.
Well there are family members mentioned, even ones that aren't Abhorsens, which means my hyperfixating ass is making the family tree/order to the best of my ability with the resources at my disposal...now to actually work on it
