ok since we're all sharing, it's 4 AM, i rewatched tws for the first time in like 7 years & i have some thoughts on this gay ass movie

the sound editing in it is REALLY good, like the entire first scene on the lemurian star you can literally hear the bones crunching of everyone steve hits (imo this is also why the fight scenes work so well aside from the choreo) & even later on outside of fury's bunker you can hear bird song so distinctly & i wasn't even using my bluetooth speaker

there's a surprising amount of swearing for phase 2 and it really pisses me off that they establish steve swearing twice within a minute yet whedon did that whole no swearing gag a year later lol

same thing with peggy. it was such a good end of an arc, why force it later? ugh.

a lot of it is conjecture & fandom overanalysis but i gotta say some of it holds up 10 years after. i doubt that whole scene with fury rapid firing a machine gun at the hydra agents dressed as cops was meant to be read as political, but regardless, i wouldn't expect a scene of a Black character basically mowing down cops left & right in a mcu movie lol

that being said anthony mackie, samuel jackson, & robert redford obvi act circles around everyone, & evans and scarjo are wooden at times but they pull off the emotional moments so well it kinda makes up for it. forgot how criminally underutilized sebstan was in this, he only shows up halfway thru

sorry but why do so many men flirt with steve. why.

the marvel quips are present but they do work often & i think it's because of the russos' flexing some of their community muscles. "who's this guy?" and "i'm nice like that" are such jeff lines

it's such a product of its time and you can tell it was made 10 years ago because it puts SUCH faith in self-driving cars and AI lmao

sadly, altho the politics are still milquetoast liberal, they weren't too far off with the whole "white supremacists will stop at nothing to spy on you & kill you for profit" so i gotta hand them that lmfao

overall it's just a good action thriller with heart and it will always have a special place in mine <3

I don't know if I've posted about this before buuut just in case I haven't I wanted to share the idea

So I had this idea a long while ago about having your caregiver back a “nini tape” for anytime that you wouldn't be together to say nini in person (night shift, long distance, live separately, trip, or otherwise)

Where they could just record their voice telling you nini, they could sing you a song or tell you a story, they could say how much they love you and wish they could be with you, play you music or tuck you, your pets, and your stuffies in💖 they could talk about making sure your brushed your teefs or your hair, got in your jammies and are nice and cozy warm 🐻
