The Bihar government has approved a scheme to provide financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to approximately 94 lakh families.

According to a PTI report, these families have a monthly income of Rs 6,000 or less. The aid is intended to support entrepreneurship and self-employment under the Bihar Small Entrepreneur Scheme.

The report added that the beneficiaries can use this money to invest in small-scale or cottage industries, including handicrafts, textiles, service sectors, and electrical items.

Additionally, the scheme includes increased compensation for labourers in unorganized sectors in cases of death (unnatural/accidental) and permanent disability.

It's worth mentioning that the financial assistance will be released in instalments and is subject to approval by a committee led by the additional chief secretary of the Industries department.
