🚨 Government Media Office:
—
Famine is deepening in the Gaza Strip and we warn of a global humanitarian catastrophe that will claim the lives of thousands of women and children. We call on Russia, China, and Turkey to break the siege and put pressure to stop the genocidal war.
The famine is worsening day by day in the governorates of the Gaza Strip where roughly 2.4 million people live, particularly in Gaza and North Gaza, which is on the brink of a global catastrophe that may claim the lives of more than 700,000 Palestinians still present in these areas.
The occupation has implemented a policy of starvation and thirst leading to famine since the start of the genocidal war against civilians, children, and women in all governorates of the Gaza Strip, intensively so in Gaza and North Gaza, by preventing aid from entering the Strip.
We urgently demand a ceasefire and end to the genocidal war against civilians, children, and women. We demand the lifting of the siege and the entry of 10,000 aid trucks within the next two days in an urgent manner, especially into the Gaza and North Gaza governornates, before a human catastrophe occurs.
Those who bear responsibility for this famine are the US administration, the international community, and the “israeli” occupation who are overseeing this famine, the events of which are taking place in full view of the whole world without anyone lifting a finger. They are the ones who gave the occupation the green light for the ongoing aggression.
We call on Russia, China, Turkey and all the nations of the free world and all international organizations, every Arab and Islamic country, the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Gulf Cooperation Council to break the siege on the Gaza Strip urgently, stop the famine against Palestinian families, cities, and neighborhoods and pressure the occupation to end the genocidal war against civilians, children, and women immediately. Failure to stop the war and famine means giving the green light to eradicating every person in the Gaza Strip.

Why does Edelgard bring up the division of Fodlan in her war declaration?
Something you hear frequently from her detractors is that Edelgard actually only started the war because she feels entitled to having the Empire as it used to be; when it controlled all of Fodlan. That she’s not waging war to benefit the people of Fodlan, but just for imperialism and conquest. “Evidence” for these claims seem to come from exactly two places; her war proclamation, and her description of the Kingdom and Alliance as “pale offshoots” to Byleth.
To address the latter first, because it’s the more easily crushed like the over-ripe grape that it is...
She’s trying to offer Byleth, a mercenary, a job. Of course she’ll want to play up the fact that it’s her country that can offer Byleth the most compensation for services rendered. Really it’s to her credit she doesn’t bring up also that the Kingdom is a destitute pit of banditry and hunger and that the Alliance is unstable and prone to backstabbery.
It’s also worth noting that the “pale offshoots” line is, you guessed it, a mistranslation! Way to go, Treehouse!
in the JP version she instead says,
Despite the decline, what the Empire has cultivated is unmatched in the world.
Now onto the first bit of “evidence”. Quoting Edelgard herself;
I’ve seen Edelgard’s detractors argue that it wasn’t the Church, but King Loog who split the Kingdom off from the Empire, but they neglect that while it was Loog who declared rebellion, it was the Church that made a king out of a rebel. In granting House Blaiddyd their legitimacy and the right to rule - Three Hopes frequently reinforces that Dimitri only has authority as bestowed to him by the Central Church - she effectively DID create the Kingdom.
Mentioning the Alliance as well seems to come out of nowhere, but Rhea’s own dialogue in Three Hopes,
lends credence to the notion that Rhea did give the Alliance the same blessing. Recall that the Federation and the Alliance are completely different governments governorning the same area of land. Her scorn that the Federation was not built with the goddess’s - meaning Rhea’s - blessing is telling.
But more importantly, if Edelgard’s only upset about the Empire being split up, why would she even mention the Alliance’s split from the Kingdom? If she’s feeling sour grapes about Loog’s rebellion then she should be grinning smugly and thinking to herself, “yeah, that’s what it’s like, you damn traitor Faerghans,” not using the increasing divison as further evidence of the Church’s duplicity.
It’s almost like she’s upset that Fodlan is being split into progressively smaller pieces, not which country it is that’s getting split.
Which leads nicely into;
Like... it’s right there. Edelgard’s mad about the Church’s interference in Fodlan politics, not because it means she gets less land to rule, but because Rhea was, in Edelgard’s eye, invoking Divide and Conquer. Each year, the future leaders and people of influence over Fodlan are gathered at Garreg Mach, sorted by home country, and made to compete with each other. What Rhea needs to be doing with those youths is fostering unity, not division. Instead she’s teaching them to see each other as rivals, and the Church - meaning her - as their benevolent, neutral, benefactor.
And when you get into it, Rhea comes off looking pretty bad in her resolution of the War of the Eagle and Lion.
There’s no indication that the Church involved itself to end hostilities until after Loog effectively defeated the Imperial Army. At that point, Rhea went in for a little quid-pro-quo, acknowledging Loog as King if he ceded enormous influence to her over his lands. She herself compares the Church and Faerghus to a mother and child, after all, and what is a child to do but listen to her caring mother?
Lastly, recall that in this instance, Rhea sided with the descendants of the Ten Elites over those of the Empire that fought for her in her darkest hour. It’s frankly staggering that Rhea has the proverbial balls to castigate the Empire for turning on their ancient benefactor when she did the same four centuries ago.
So there you have, it, the Edelgard Detractor’s smoking gun is nothing more than Edelgard criticizing Rhea for dividing the people of Fodlan so she might hold greater power over them. It certainly worked like a charm in Faerghus.
Edelgard didn’t feel entitled to owning the Empire’s old lands, folks. Hell, in Three Hopes Edelgard argues that the concept of land ownership is an illusion;
It wasn’t about soil or land grabs, it was about the people, the only things of genuine substance in the end.

#Republicans currently have legislation in 40+ states to limit access to voting. They're trying to make it so you can't vote past 5 pm, resulting in lower wage workers (largely black and brown voters) being unable to vote after completing their work day, and they are closing voting locations in districts with high black and brown populations - All while limiting the acceptible excuses grown ass adults can use to be eligible for an absentee ballot, just to make sure black and brown people are screwed from every angle.
Throughout the history of the US, Republicans have sought to block our better angels from establishing a governornment that is truly for the people, by the people. Their baby, The Electoral College was built solely as a means to limit the impact of an individual citizen's vote. They are still in power at every level in OUR government. If you believe in the concept of democracy, I urge you to vote your conscience, live your values, and vote Republicans out of office. Not once, not twice, but for decades. Nothing will change until this is done. Full stop. Don't forget, ballots are secret, so noone but you and God will know the story of how you helped save democracy.
