BBC NEWS • SHORT STORIES
MEET YN YLN May 29, 2017
Tumblr media
Yn Yln has been making her mark in the industry.
From detailed writing on fashion pieces to analyzing the newest models of F1 cars, Yn Yln is racing through the internet.
Yln told the BBC it was her bursting of emotions that first got her to write.
Her love of fashion was what started her journey. She put up her first blog up in 2010 titled “Layering”. Yln showcased several ways to style for the winter which skyrocketed her blog.
She then wrote about the racing sport. Yln mentioned a friend of hers raced and that is where her writing started to flourish.
“He just got me really interested in the sport that I couldn’t go a week without writing whether Hamilton got a win or modifications had been made to the sport.”
The writer got her first issue in Vogue out this May 11th. The issue was about her sister, Kylie Yln, and her entrepreneurship.
But while she has achieved much beyond her years, Yln has much more ahead of her. She continues to help the writing industry advance and flourish.

charles_leclerc I remember watching Formula 1 being younger and dreaming of one day being part of it. I can't believe this day has arrived and that I will be racing with Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team for the 2018 Formula 1 World Championship. I am hugely thankful to all the people who have been involved in my path to Formula 1.
A special thought to my father that did absolutly everthing for me to get there and to Jules that also helped me massively, I wish you two were here to see that but l'm sure you will follow me from up there.
A special thank you to the Ferrari Drivers Academy/Scuderia Ferrari, my sponsors/partners, Nicolas Todt/All Road Management, my family, all the people close to me during all these years & obviously Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team for giving me this opportunity.

Charles Leclerc explains reasons behind #16 F1 number choice
december 13, 2017
Tumblr media
Since he was young, Leclerc has been dreamt of his future in being an F1 driver, as well as his future number.
The 20 year old driver explains it has always been the number he was going to pick.
“There is too much emotional connection for me to not pick this number. I hold this number deep in my heart and the person who helped me achieve everything, is mainly the reason. I hope to do the number well and give it justice.”
He has yet to specify who he is talking about but fans would guess a close friend. READ MORE…

it was nerve shaking for both yn and charles to come into the paddock knowing the other would be there but they both walked in with confidence.
with charles in his rookie season, many interviewers were trying to get his input on it. he searched the faces for that one (y/h/c) but proceeded to answer questions while walking.
as he started to leave the group, he had the urge to turn around. and when he did, he was met with those (y/e/c) and nostalgia.
the interviewers started to disperse, getting in his line of vision for a moment before they were focues on her.
this was his second shot and he was not going to waste it.

Charles Leclerc, the Ferrari driver tells his story: «I feel good only with the helmet on my head»
At 26, the young Monegasque has already entered the legend of Formula 1. Thanks to his cold blood and the audacity of a driving style that does not contemplate fear, Charles Leclerc has become "The predestined" for his fans. Since he was a child he loved red cars and with Ferrari he fulfilled his dream…
Almost 130 Grands Prix in Formula 1, 28 podiums, 22 pole positions and five victories: at 26, Charles Leclerc is already making history. His favorite driver is Ayrton Senna but «there are many I admire: Prost, Lauda, James Hunt, Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton. However, Ayrton Senna (the Brazilian champion who died in a tragic accident at Imola in 1994, ed.), is my all-time idol. From what I was able to see in the documentaries that tell his story and by speaking with those who knew him in life, I discovered that he was a special person to say the least, not only behind the wheel - he was perhaps the best driver in history - but also as a human being." Leclerc's childhood is marked by a deep bond with his father Hervé (he bears his name on his helmet) who was also a pilot - «dad was my number 1 fan» – and by his untimely death in 2017. «I was four years old, I told my father that I wasn't feeling very well and didn't want to go to school. Of course I was pretending like all kids do. However, I don't know why, he indulged me and took me to the go-kart track of his best friend, Philippe Bianchi. Seeing other children running on the track, I wanted to try it too. For my first car I chose the color red. And I think I fell in love with this sport after just three laps." On that go-kart track Leclerc lives his dream of one day becoming a Formula 1 driver and there he meets his lifelong friend, Jules Bianchi, Philippe's son. In karting, Charles Leclerc collected one victory after another, also because "I didn't know the concept of braking". At 17 years old in 2014, he entered the “Formula Renault 2.0” with the Fortec Motorsports team. He took seven podiums and collected two victories, earning second place in the championship. In 2015 he moved to Formula 3 and, despite an accident on the Zandvoort circuit (Holland), which compromised the final position in the standings, and the death of his friend Jules Bianchi in July, after the accident at Suzuka on 5 October 2014, Leclerc he doesn't lose the desire to compete. «Formula 1 killed people I loved, but I can't help it», he declared some time later.
What was your first ever Grand Prix? «Macau in 2015. But I like to remember the first time I saw one. I was still a child, I had a friend whose apartment had a balcony overlooking the Monte Carlo circuit. Obviously I was already rooting for the red cars, even though I didn't yet know that they were Ferrari. It was simply my favorite color." In the 2016 GP3 season he won the title with the "ART Grand Prix" team, even if, during the last championship race in Abu Dhabi, he chose to retire. Does a pilot ever feel afraid? «I am a human being, even if I run at 300 kilometers per hour. Beautiful moments alternate with very difficult ones, I'm not a superhero. It was in 2017, when I thought I wouldn't be able to become a Formula 1 driver, that I felt a real feeling of fear." But it is precisely in 2017 that the turning point arrives. A year earlier Leclerc had taken part in the Ferrari Driver Academy. With the first free practice session of the British Grand Prix in 2016, he began his experience as a test driver for Haas and then for Ferrari. Over the course of the following year he became increasingly noticed, thanks to a series of victories - among them that of the FIA Formula 2 championship - and multiple tests of skill at the wheel of his car. In the 2017 championship he participated in four free practice sessions with Sauber, the first of which in the pouring rain on the Sepang circuit (Malaysia), and it was with the Swiss team that he became a Formula 1 driver. On board the Sauber C37, despite some difficulties, Leclerc demonstrates consistency and ends the 2018 season in 13th place in the drivers' standings with 39 points, voted "rookie" of the year. But what happens before a Formula 1 race? «Before running, a lot of tension builds up. I have been doing breathing exercises since I was a boy. They help me stay calm, so I can achieve a level of concentration that maximizes my potential. Preparation is 90% of the total work in a race." Before getting into the car there is also space for a ritual moment. «I only feel good when I wear the helmet and everyone comes out of the pit lane», he says, «the cockpit is like a nest, I don't feel any sensations, zero tension. There I relax while waiting for the race."
In September 2018, Scuderia Ferrari announced that the Monegasque driver would replace Kimi Räikkönen, alongside Sebastian Vettel. «I was on a boat in Monaco. I had put the phone on silent mode, I find the call from Maurizio Arrivabene (head of the Ferrari team ed.). I told the friend I was with to turn off the engines, that the head of Ferrari had called me and I wasn't hearing well. I understand that he wouldn't have taken me to Ferrari. It seemed a little strange that he called me to tell me, I was disappointed. Fifteen seconds later he called me back and told me he was joking. I attacked and dived into the sea, it all seemed so surreal. Me in Ferrari…". Even though his first time in Maranello dates back to a few years earlier as he reveals in the book “Le prodige” written by Rémi Boudoul: «I was 11 years old, but I didn't enter. I sat in the parking lot and imagined a structure similar to the one seen in “The Chocolate Factory”. With the Oompa Loompas running around." In 2018 his first race of the season in Australia ended with a fifth place, but the real affirmation came with the Bahrain Grand Prix, where he won his first pole position and finished the race in third place. The season continues with ups and downs. After a first victory in Belgium came the triumph on the Monza Circuit, in front of the delirious Scuderia Ferrari home crowd. Leclerc also arrived in pole position in Singapore and Russia, and ended the season in fourth place with 264 points, consolidating his reputation among the most promising talents in Formula 1. 2020 began with a second place in Austria. However, the Ferrari SF1000 demonstrates some limitations in subsequent races. Leclerc retires in Styria and ends up outside the points in Hungary. A bad accident in Monza, from which he emerged unscathed, represents a critical moment in that unspectacular year, which ended in eighth place in the drivers' standings.
The following year, the new Ferrari SF21 proved to be more competitive, allowing Leclerc - now at the Prancing Horse with Carlos Sainz Jr. - to achieve good results, including fourth places in Imola and Spain. In Monaco, he takes pole position but retires due to damage to the car before the race. His only podium came in Great Britain, finishing the season in seventh place in the drivers' standings. 2022 is more than positive. He wins the Bahrain Grand Prix, followed by a second place in Saudi Arabia and victories in Australia and Austria. He finishes in second place among the drivers, behind Max Verstappen. In 2023, with his SF23 single-seater, he achieved the second podium of the season in Austria, while in Great Britain he finished ninth. In Belgium, after some changes to the car, he gets pole and finishes third. In the Italian Grand Prix, in Monza, he started on pole and finished fourth. Beyond the races, twenty-six-year-old Charles Leclerc, just appointed ambassador of the Monegasque jewelery brand APM Monaco, tries to spend as much time as possible with his friends. «Ricardo, Alex, Thomas, Guillaume, Nico, Hugo, Joris. I'm happy with them, we go to the beach, to the restaurant, we play five-a-side football, we're all sporty and we train together. However, we have different lives, while they study, I live my passion. But I love racing, I love Ferrari." Ferrari which is not only synonymous with engines but also with fashion and Leclerc is a proud ambassador of the brand led by Rocco Iannone. «I often wear items from the Ferrari line, they are aerodynamic and the materials range from the more technical ones - which I am used to wearing every day in my work - to the more refined ones. I like that couture feel and above all the color that dominates in the Ferrari collections, a color that I don't think I need to specify...>>

Pierre Gasly doesn’t win the 2016 GP2 title, and thus he stays in the category for another year with Prema. He’s joined for the 2017 F2 season by his long time best friend and fresh GP3 champion Charles Leclerc. What starts as a dream come true, quickly turns into a nightmare. Fast forward 8 years later and they’re teammates again. At Ferrari F1 team. However this time, they hate each other. How will they cope?
Chasing What’s on the Other Side by @espithewarlock | rated E | 15.8k words | tumblr post here
A Mafia AU where Pierre is immediately obsessed with Charles, the newly-introduced romantic partner of his biggest rival, Carlos. He begins dangerously pursuing Charles, they fall into bed together, and his obsession only gets more real the more he learns about Charles’ history. Meanwhile, Pierre is also trying to keep his business running and figure out exactly what his rivals are plotting. There’s something simmering, and he does not like having a target on his back.
model behaviour by @your-littlesecret | rated T | 8k words
Charles isn't sure what he should be doing here - he is not proud to admit he completely zoned out as Camille was explaining - but the gorgeous guy is just standing there and Charles says fuck it and walks to him, extending a hand. "Hi" "Hello. I am Pierre." His smile is almost blinding and Charles feels like he's never seen someone as beautiful in his whole life - which is very fitting, considering he is a model.

When Lance drags him to a Drama Club meeting, Pierre doesn't expect to stay for long, but he meets Charles, brother to one of his fraternity's new pledges, and he decide to give it a chance. After all, Charles seems interested in him too - what could go wrong?
Stop the World I Wanna Get Off With You by @crimsonicarus | rated T | 2k words
It was easy with Charles, talking, spending time, being silent. It felt natural, like breathing. Laughing at his awful jokes came from his mouth effortlessly, like another mother tongue.
five january seconds by @fenesacha | rated E | 8.9k words
Charles' phone is on the counter between them, and Pierre reaches out to tap the screen, waking the device up. He spares one second to look at Charles’ new background, a photo of the two of them in their Christmas jumpers, before he glances at the date. There, not changing no matter how many times he blinks: Tuesday, 2 January. What the fuck.
falling Inn love (five years later) by @gaslybottoms | rated T | 17.5k words
“American style holiday inn,” Lando reads from the description, squinting at the small font on the screen. “Family owned and run for the last three generations, the All Pine Inn is located deep in the heart of the South Downs, with picturesque views over the rolling hills of the local area. A step back from city life, the local village is a peaceful respite away from the busy day to day. See Charles, it seems perfect." OR Charles takes a trip to the country for the Christmas holidays, and rekindles an old almost romance along the way.
All The Pebbles Along The Way by @shankyspork | rated M | 17k words
Centering around friendship and grief, this fic takes the slow road through life and its meaningful moments, hoping to bring you to the conclusion that belonging is something innate.
all I ever wanted by @golden-fairylights | Not Rated | 8.4k words
When Charles received the email that Prince Pierre would attend his vernissage, he didn't know that by the end of the night, he would have found his soulmate.
Anything you can do, I can do better by @whatdidwejustdo | rated T | 2k words
In which Pierre and Charles are insufferably competitive mechanics for rival F1 teams (Red Bull vs Ferrari) and their friends (Carlos, Alex, and Yuki) suffer. Endless snark, friendship, and references to decades of F1 lore. Or:  "Well.” Pierre’s eyes were sharp and blue. "Have you ever re-assembled Max Verstappen's car in twenty minutes when it was supposed to take forty, and watched him put together a hot lap in the dying seconds of Q2 to make it into Q3 and take pole?"
let's be what we are by @hourcat | rated E | 46.1k words | tumblr post here
Some weekends go better than others, and the only time Charles sees his best friend is at the post-race afterparties that the bigger teams throw. They’ll clink bottles of gross tasting beer and chat with one of the other drivers relegated off to the side this season, and it feels like they’re the karting kids again. Some weekends, though, Pierre is draped along Charles’ back, all but welded together after an early spin-out ended his day, and Pierre will give him what he needs—what they need. (or: pierre, charles, and the consequences of a lifetime of touch.)
Can I just be in my head with you? by @chipsandnuggets | rated T | 7k words
"Pierrot,” he mumbles without thinking, while he separates for a moment from Pierre, but still keeps some closeness. “Can I have you? At least in my head? Can I have you like this, every time I want, in my head?”  5 times Pierre and Charles desire something plus one they finally do something about it.
Le Cheval Cabré by @moonlight0starlighte | rated G | 24.3k words
Charles, a tortured Michelin star chef, returns home for his father’s passing and discovers the family restaurant has been left to him. Though his grief feels stifling at times, Pierre, his oldest friend, is the light that guides him through it all.

Maybe he can pass it off as a drunken hookup. A one-time thing. They can both forget it ever happened and move on. Pierre doesn’t need to remember Charles whining and panting beneath him. He can bury it down with the piece of his heart that Charles owns always.
take my hand (put yours over my heart) by @duquesademiel | rated T | 37.7k words | tumblr post here
Pierre Gasly has been declared Public Enemy Number One after breaking Charles’ best friend’s heart. Which, honestly, makes working in their charity work together just a little bit too awkward. A Christmas box, a lot of charity work, football matches and flower crowns might change Pierre’s status in Charles’ books - with a little dash of fake dating, of course.

“You know,” Frédéric’s hands are crossed in front of him, fingertips tightening after every pause, “there is only one thing that brings stability to a Kingdom without it being a marriage.” Charles draws in a sharp breath—he knows, nodding almost imperceptibly once Frédéric falls into a hesitant silence. A courtship.

Metropolis, a city for all kinds of people: good people, bad people, and people with special abilities. Pierre, alias Blue Arrow, considers himself a special person. With the ability to fly like a bird and bend the toughest of materials at his will, he has decided to use these gifts to protect the city he loves. But what happens when a new threat arises that could destroy everything he'd ever loved? To prevent this, Pierre joins a group of other three heroes and an unlikely ally so that they can maybe, hopefully, save Metropolis from the claws of this new powerful villain.
“I really thought you didn’t like me, you know,” Pierre muses. “You were always so… defensive.” Charles smiles thoughtfully. There are small dimples in his cheeks and his hair falls softly over his forehead as he glances down at the table before replying. “It was never that. I think I was afraid I would like you too much, if I let myself.” In which Pierre falls for his roommate's best friend, Lando is never where he's supposed to be, and Charles is a dream in technicolour.

Charles loves being an actor. It’s what he has always felt was born to do. But he hates that it means that he has to spend so many days of the year away from the people he loves the most. He hates that even though he technically lives with his boyfriend, he is still in a de facto long-distance relationship most of the time.

There will be no room for him in Ferrari next year.
But the Spaniard doesn't argue, he wins when he can and in the meantime he looks ahead. «It's my style, that's how they educated me. The Cavallino showed me what passion is and I helped it grow. Leaving is not my choice, but maybe there will be better things to come."

He was born in Madrid and will join Ferrari from 2021
The Spanish Ferrari driver, Carlos Sainz, 29 years old. He has been racing with the Red team since 2021 and has won three GPs in Formula 1, the last of which was a month ago in Australia.
"I smile at the future
And I want to be the best."
A man's style, because at almost thirty you are a finished man, is measured in moments of adversity. Carlos Sainz comes from an elegant Madrid family, he can boast a father who not only wrote a few pages of motoring history in rallies, but in his adventure in F.1 he never found a downhill road ahead of him. Less than three months ago Ferrari let him know that there will no longer be a place for him in 2025. He could react badly, fall into victimhood, lose himself, exaggerate to impress everyone. He did the exact opposite. Starting from the words spoken then, in February. «Hamilton in Maranello was a hard blow, I didn't expect it. I was pretty sure that I would renew the contract with the Rossa. But it will be my last year with the team and I just want to think about doing my best for the Cavallino." Honest, sincere. With style, indeed. «Style is not something you choose - he says -, it is something that largely derives from the education your family gives you, from the values you have cultivated. And that then translates into how you behave and how you do things. But I can't say I have my own particular or studied style. I just try to be natural."
What a start!
Excellent start to the season for the Spaniard in 2024, with the victory in Melbourne and two third places in Bahrain and Japan.
At the moment you are going faster than your teammate Charles Leclerc, and this has also given rise to some doubts and regrets among the Red fans. Do you think you still have room for growth as a driver?
«For me, all the years in F.1 can offer the opportunity to progress. With each season that passes I feel like a better rider and it's also clear that over time you have experiences that make you grow as a rider and as a person, let's say that I continually make progress on both fronts."
For next year you are in the sights of several top teams, starting with Mercedes. But there was also talk of Red Bull. Does this interest make you feel good, after a difficult and delicate season's eve?
"Yes I'd like that. In reality, I am already part of a top team like Ferrari, and doing well here as I am actually doing makes the others keep an eye on you. In the end it's what I've always wanted as a driver, that is, to be considered a good name to occupy the best seats in F.1. And frankly I hope it goes like this for many years to come."
Identikit Carlos Sainz
Family tradition, he races in F.1 since 2015
Carlos Sainz Vázquez de Castro was born in Madrid (Spa) on September 1st 1994. Son of the two-time rally world champion Carlos Sr, he grew up in karting before moving on to Formula BMW, then Renault and GP3. His debut in Formula 1 was in 2015, in Australia, with Toro Rosso, where he remained until October 2017, when he moved to Renault. The 2019-2020 two-year period was at McLaren, where he achieved the first two podiums of his career: third in Brazil in the first season and second in Monza in the following one.
Since 2021 he has been at Ferrari. In red he scored his first pole and his first victory at Silverstone in 2022. The other two successes came in Singapore last year and in Australia a month ago. For him, overall 21 podiums in 187 Grands Prix.
«For 2025, seeing how I'm going, I would like a competitive single-seater. I'm happy to be in the crosshairs of several top team"
Finding an agreement with a new team could take a long time: is it a thought? Can it affect your performance in any way?
«All options are open, but it takes time to reach similar decisions. Little has happened in recent weeks, from this point of view, but this doesn't affect the way I race, my work on the track. Choosing takes time for everyone. They often ask me whether it is better to think about next year or the long term when deciding. I think it depends on what they offer you. As a driver you always look at the option that the fastest single-seater presents to you, because you think that in that way you can achieve podiums and victories like I'm doing this year. But the possibilities in the medium term are also interesting, considering the change in regulations in 2026. Each side of the coin has pluses and minuses, but the best thing is that today all options remain open."
You don’t seem worried
"No. I smile thinking about the future even if what will happen does not depend solely on me. I just have to wait for it and do my job well. If it takes time, that's fine. Also because, in light of the regulatory change in 2026, it is almost impossible to know who will go fastest. And so the decisions also depend on what the teams "sell" you, but no one has a real idea. For 2025, given how I'm going, I would like a competitive single-seater... in any case the situation doesn't disturb me: I know how to keep the track and the questions from journalists and fans about the future divided. When you run, run. I've been in F.1 for 10 years, I know how to manage my weekends."
How much has competing for Ferrari changed you, on a human level?
«He introduced me to the passion that people can have for a team, and you only see this if you race with the Cavallino and are surrounded by the Red fans. You don't feel a warmth like this in other teams. Humanly I was involved and this affects you, it has an influence on you. I heard it."
Hamilton and Leclerc are great fashion lovers. Do you like it also?
«Fashion is not something that occupies my mind in my free time, it depends a bit on how I feel day by day or on the phase I go through in my life. With the change in age I adapt in the way I dress, but it doesn't come naturally to me to think and research what I wear. I understand those who make it a passion, but it doesn't change my life."
What style do you follow in dressing? Do you buy what you wear or do you have someone who makes it for you? And when you were a boy did you choose on your own or did your mother take care of it? Have you ever argued about how you dressed?
«I almost never buy. When it happens it's because I go with my girlfriend (Rebecca Donaldson, Scottish model; ed.), my sisters (she has two, Ana and Blanca; ed.) or my mother. It has never happened to me that I am somewhere, in a hotel or at home, ® telling myself: "Now I'm going shopping". The idea never comes to me. It always has to come from someone else and this already shows that it is not my priority. Then I get dressed too, of course. And the style I like to follow is classic, elegant and traditional.
I feel comfortable and at ease. Until I was 20-25, all my clothes were bought by my mother, sisters or girlfriends of the time. And I never argued about it because I accepted everything they said, I didn't have an opinion...".
You are very close to his father, whom you have always admired but without avoiding some clashes: what relationship do you have now and how much does it matter for your career?
«When we are young, we all have moments of disagreement with our parents. It is part of the normal dynamic between father and son and there is an age in which you continually express a different opinion regardless, for bias, there is a period of your life when it seems like you do it on purpose. That age has now passed, but I remember that I liked arguing with him, even clashing, but with education and respect.
There was never a really bad moment when we called each other bad words. Dad always raised me to respect everyone. Now we have an incredible, very beautiful relationship. He taught me everything I know in life, in the end I feel privileged to be able to enjoy such a strong bond with him and to be able to have such an important person in my life close to me."
Who inspired you while growing up? Both in the sporting world and outside of sport.
«My father always used it as a reference
Rafa Nadal. And I really like it too, for the competitive spirit and the respect with which he does things. With clarity and a shape that says everything about him. In turn, I want to be the best on the track but also off it." What do you like to do away from the circuits?
«I am a very sporty person, my hobbies are mainly linked to that. I have always practiced golf, padel, skiing, now a lot of cycling, for training but also because I enjoy it. And in my free time I follow a lot of sports on TV."
«Nadal has always been my father's legend and he has become mine»
Hobby? Only sport: golf, skiing, padel and lots of cycling, for training and because I enjoy it"
Madrid, your city, is full of beautiful museums. Do you go there every now and then? Do you like art?
«I'm honest: no, I'm not going. I made all the visits when I was 13,014 years old with school and practically my attendance at museums ended there. But if someone sits down to explain it to me, even better: art interests me. But going alone to watch an exhibition, I don't do that. And it's curious because if someone talks to me about a work of art, why it's made that way, about its history, I like it and I enjoy it."
And in Ferrari from 2021, leaving at the end of the year will not be easy.
«I have mixed feelings. The three seasons spent in Maranello, of hard work, living there, with time spent in the factory, helped the team progress. Now we are starting to see the growth of the project, the single-seater is better and I have confidence in driving it after it has "implemented" all the indications given in the past. It makes me feel happy for this year and at the same time sad that we won't continue the journey together. Somehow we have recently taken the right path for the future, and it shows on the track. But it's life, it's the way life decided it should go. It wasn't my decision, but maybe there will be better things to come. When I look at the past, at the choices I made by leaving Toro Rosso, Renault, McLaren, I see that everything makes sense. Maybe in a little while I'll look back and figure out whether to leave paid".
There are still 20 GPs to go: what do you dream will happen for you and for Ferrari between now and the end of the season?
“More victories, more podiums and see where it takes us.”

A partire dalle parole pronunciate allora, a febbraio.

Carlos Sainz Vázquez de Castro è nato a Madrid (Spa) l'1 settembre 1994.
Quarto in classifica
«No.
A lei piace?
Mi sento comodo e a mio agio.

No parece preocupado
"No.
Me siento cómodo y a gusto.
«Te soy sincera: no, no voy.

How will they cope?

f1 drivers : where were they before f1 and with who (promoting series edition)
Hello, today we’re looking at F1 drivers and the promoting series they drove in before reaching F1 (along with the results they obtained and the teams they were with). It’s also the occasion to notice which of them have known each other for a very long time, which I’ve also found quite interesting.
The main table contains a total of 42 drivers. All of the 2023 grid and drivers going back a few years (and a couple personal choices).
Regarding the instances where a driver only did a couple of races (and barely got points in the process), they might not have been included in the table.
You can find everyone ranked by birth year at the end of this post (under the cut), along with a study of each generation (which I think is the most interesting thing of it all) (with the 1985 exception, I only highlighted the year/serie combos where at least two of the concerned drivers participated).
I recommend clicking on the picture for better quality/to make them easier to read. I have made the google sheet available in reading mode here, for easier navigation.
A couple of things to note to understand the table properly, some changes in the series :
in 2019, F3 Europe and GP3 merged into the current F3 Championship
in 2017, the GP2 series became F2
in 2012, Formula Renault 2.0 Italia and Formula Renault 2.0 Switzerland merged into Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS
in 2008, Formula BMW ADAC (Germany) merged with Formula BMW UK into Formula BMW Europe
in 2008, French Formula Renault 2.0 became Formula Renault 2.0 WEC
in 2006, Formula Renault 2.0 Germany and Formula Renault 2.0 Netherlands merged into Formula Renault 2.0 NEC
F2 & F3 titles
4 drivers got an F3 series and F2 title, in chronological order : Charles Leclerc, George Russell, Mick Schumacher, Oscar Piastri (the only one who got them in consecutive seasons).

Today in Chontent: February 12th (2018)
Charles gets interviewed by Andrea Noviello of warmup-f1.fr about his upcoming rookie F1 season.
Tumblr media
source: warmup-f1.fr series: f1, 2018
Established by Sauber after his breathtaking 2017 campaign, Charles Leclerc is excited to finally be able to start his first season at the wheel of a Formula 1 car.
His 2017 season was close to perfection. By conquering with disconcerting superiority seven victories, eight pole positions, ten podiums and four fastest laps last year in the antechamber of Formula 1, Charles Leclerc not only positioned himself as one of the greatest hopes of tomorrow, but above all won his ticket to the premier category of motorsport. Recruited by Sauber as part of the partnership between the Swiss team and Alfa Romeo, the figurehead of the Ferrari Driver Academy will have the difficult task of meeting the immense expectations generated by his consecutive double crowning in GP3 and Formula 2. But while waiting to finally be able to demonstrate the full extent of his talent aboard an F1 car, the Monegasque took advantage of these long weeks of break to perfect his physical condition and begin his process of discovering the Hinwil facilities. Delighted to be able to collaborate again with his former boss at ART GP Frédéric Vasseur, the Sauber driver is resolutely confident before tackling his first season at the highest level. Aware of the difficulties that await him, Nicolas Todt's protégé nevertheless wants to be ambitious. Convinced of being able to put his best foot forward if he remains focused on his own work, Leclerc intends to confirm in 2018 all the good things that the paddock thinks of him.
The Formula 1 world championship will resume on March 25 at Albert Park in Australia. How do you feel a little over a month before your big debut in the premier category?
Very good. I've dreamed of it since I was little! To think that I am going to start my first season in Formula 1 is just incredible. But I must not forget to concentrate on the work I will have to do in F1. 2018 will be a pivotal year in my career. So I'm actively preparing physically to be ready the day I get into the new car.
The winter break is generally a rather difficult period for a pilot, because it consists almost exclusively of heavy and intensive physical preparation. How do you manage to fill the lack of management?
It is extremely difficult, if not almost impossible, for a pilot to make up for the lack of running. Of course it has absolutely nothing to do with F1, but I'm still going to try to go and drive a kart a little these days just to get some sensations and have fun. I spend the majority of my time perfecting my physical condition so that I can be in good shape for the first tests in Barcelona. The desire to drive a single-seater, unfortunately, cannot be satisfied for a large part of the winter. Afterwards, everyone is in the same boat. You just have to accept it and prepare as best as possible for the winter tests.
Starting out in Formula 1 is always a crucial step in a driver's life. In addition to arriving in a completely different world from the one you have encountered in the past in promotional formulas, are you aware of reaching the biggest milestone in your career in motorsport?
Completely. F1 is nothing like the minor categories. Going from karting to single-seaters is already a big step. Moving up to Formula 1 undoubtedly represents the second biggest step in a driver's life. The engines were all identical within the promotion formulas I went through. So the goal came down to doing the best job possible in the car. If we met this condition, we knew full well that the results would follow.
In F1, on the other hand, the driver is much more dependent on the performance of his machine...
Yes. It's not quite the same thing in F1, because there is a lot of difference in performance between the cars. The procedures to follow are also much more numerous than in the small categories. F1 is really a big step to take, but above all I have to concentrate on the work I will have to do in the single-seater in order to bring the best possible result home. I will also focus on developing the car as quickly and efficiently as possible throughout the season.
For the first time since you started karting, you will approach a season knowing that you will not have the means to win on a regular basis. How do we mentally prepare ourselves to settle for runners-up when, like you, we have collected titles in the lower categories?
Above all, I will seek to deliver the best possible work in the car. The end result won't matter in the end. The most important thing for me will be to stay focused on my job while trying to make the car progress as quickly as possible. F1 is undoubtedly a completely different world to what I have experienced in the past. So I'm definitely going to have to go through a little period of adaptation. But to be able to do effective work in the premier category, the key will be to concentrate on what I have to do and only on that.
You will team up with Marcus Ericsson in 2018, a driver who certainly did well last year alongside Wehrlein, but who does not necessarily enjoy a very big reputation inside the paddock. To hope to impress F1, won't you somehow be obliged to "crush it" like you outclassed Formula 2 last year?
Marcus has a lot of experience in F1. So I'm already going to try to learn alongside him. However, as I mentioned previously, my main goal is to produce the best job possible while remaining focused solely on myself. This is something I learned from my previous seasons in single-seaters. If I focus on my work and do it well, then I should be able to demonstrate what I'm worth. I prefer not to distract myself by looking at others. I just make sure I give my best. We will then see what results I will be able to obtain this season.
Sauber remains in four very difficult seasons in Formula 1. In addition to its recurring financial problems, the Swiss team has also suffered greatly on a sporting level since three times out of four it finished the championship in tenth place. Did these chronic difficulties scare you when joining the Swiss team?
No, on the contrary I am very confident. With “Fred” (Vasseur) at the helm, the team is truly in good hands. I know him very well and I love the way he works. A team manager must work in this way to help the team progress. We should also not neglect the impact of the return of Alfa Romeo. So yes, until we put the car on the ground, it will be difficult to predict anything. Our main mission will be to develop the car as quickly as possible throughout the year.

Who you belong to (George Russell)
When George starts getting attention from an interviewer who's just trying her shot, you decide it's time to show that he is unavailable
Note: english is not my first language, here is some George content that I hope you like. I'm trying to go through the requests and not post the same driver twice in a row so I ask for your understanding if your request is yet to be posted, I promise I'm working on them 🤍
Thank you so much to everyone who likes and reblogs, your feedback is appreciated 🤍 and I'm not taking requests so if you have any ideas or concepts you want to share, feel free to do so but know that I'm not certain when I'll be able to tend to them!
You had known Geoge since teenage years when you moved into a new school and he happened to have a free spot on his double desk, the teacher telling you to go and sit next to him. That's how a beautiful friendship started, his parents soon inviting you so you could go and see him karting on the weekends. Soon enough, your feelings started to develop into something more, George deciding to act on them the night he won the GP3 Series in 2017 when he got home and you were sitting in his living room, a congratulations banner on the wall along with some drinks on the table as you and your shared group of friends had prepared for him. You had been with him through losses and wins, good times and bad times and he would be damned if he didn't make a move on you because he knew everyone else already thought you were amazing knowing half of what he knew about you, and he wanted to be there before they were.
Sitting in his garden while everyone was inside enjoying themselves, you noticed he was alone and sat next to him, "enjoying the starlight, F3 Champion?", you asked as you sipped from your cup, and he felt like it was now or never, "the win was amazing, standing on that podium felt like a rush, having my family there was amazing, but I missed you. You were the one missing there", he said with no hint of teasing on his voice, knowing you had an university presentation to attend and he never wanted you to put your things over his own, "there is no one else I want to have there when I'm looking at the crowd and when I'm getting ready for the races. I want you there with me", he said as he grabbed your hand, "I don't want to make you go to all of them, I know you won't be able to but I want you there as much as you're able to", he finished. You were looking dumbfounded at him, this particular moment looking like the dream you'd have every now and again where your bestfriend reciprocated the feelings you had for him. "You have no clue for how long j wished you'd say those words to me", you whispered as George's big hands moved to your cheeks as his thumb grazed your lips, silently asking for permission and once you granted it, his lips fell on yours. Coming for air, you were looking at his blue eyes under the moonlight, the two of you smiling as you took notice of what just had happened, the love bubble interrupted from the cheers inside the house, "It was about time Russell!".
Over the years, you and George thought it was best that you just kept your relationship private, not wanting anyone to snoop into your lives and you've managed to do it quite well. Friends and family were very careful about posting pictures and through his career the very few people that noticed your regular presence just assumed you were a team member or an intern, and when George got into Formula One, you were able to keep it private still.
You walked in the paddock, and unlike some of the experiences the other drivers' girlfriends had, no one made a fuss, some looking up to see who it was ringing their pass in before looking back to what they were doing on their phones and cameras.
You arrived at the Mercedes hospitality, greeting everyone as you headed to the lounge upstairs, grabbing a bottle of water and looking over the track when you sat in one of the sofas that was shielded a little bit more from the public eye. You had been enjoyed the sun on your face when you heard footsteps, seeing your boyfriend as his communications assistant up the steps, "Darling, you're here!", he smiled while you waved your phone at him, silently telling him you had sent a text, "I don't have my phone on me" he said before you heard more steps, the team's head of social media and Lewis joining you in there, "Oh, Y/N, how have you been?", Lewis asked, greeting with a hug, "It's been good, excited to be back at raced! Do you guys need me to leave?", you asked, wondering if they were going to have a meeting, "No need for it, actually you can even listen to something I have here, I think you'll find it amusing", she said as she pushed one the chairs so you could listen to an audio she had on her phone. It starts with a female voice questioning George and Lewis about their summer break before she started speaking directly with George, asking where he had been, with who he had been and what he enjoyed doing in that time off, her voice sweetly talking her way through the questions George tried to answer in the most polite and professional way possible, the slight waver in his tone showing how unsure he was, "I think she was flirting with me to be honest", he said, looking at Lewis who laughed, "you think? I'm just glad we were there because otherwise she would have jumped on you", his teammate said as everyone who was there agreed. "She must think you're single", you put simply since this wasn't the first time someone assumed your boyfriend wasn't in a relationship.
.
When qualifying came around with George due to start the race in the front row, he came back to the garage so he could get dressed to go to the media pen, meeting you in his driver's room where you both knew no cameras would catch you, "Congratulations handsome, I'm so proud of you!", you said as you walked to him once he was inside, wrapping your arms around his neck as he spun you around, helping your legs circle his waist as you pressed kisses all over his face, "I'm so proud of you, I knew you could do it!", you smiled at him. Setting you down so he could change, you talked about how he was feeling, "the car felt really nice, honestly I think we can get a podium tomorrow, we can fight for those places", he said while you enjoyed the view of his naked torso before he dressed himself in his black team t-shirt, "That's my favourite one on you", you mumbled, kissing his jaw before someone called for "five minutes to be in the media pen". Enjoying your affections, George ran his hands along your sides before managing to release your tucked shirt and get inside the clothing item, his fingers stroking your skin, "Are you making sure the other reporter feels you've been around?", he chuckled, the two of you have been lightly joking about it since yesterday. Last night, when George informed you he was going to brush his teeth and then get back so you could cuddle, you asked him "And are you going to enjoy doing it with someone else?", genuinely finding the situation quite funny. Giggling ad you flicked his ear, you pressed a final kiss to his lips, "if I wanted to do that I would place my lips here", you placed your mouth just below his Adam's apple, "and I would leave a nice little mark right there so everyone in this paddock that doesn't know you are taken will know from now on", you kissed the skin again before moving away from his body semi reluctantly, knowing he had duties to fulfill and that you could easily tip you both and start something you wouldn't have time to finish, "but I'm just going to let you go do your thing", you said as you sat on the sofa there, "but do I get a reward later?", he smirked looking at you, "absolutely, my love".
George walked confidently into the media pen looking for the Sky Sports reporter he knew he was due to talk first giving his take on the laps and how he was feeling about tomorrow before his assistant pointed to the newsagent from yesterday, showing him the interviews line up on his phone when they noticed they had the woman from yesterday and another interviewer, George trying to get there first so the female interviewer would speak to Sebastian, but the German driver was first to get there and unknowingly he started talking to the man as the woman waved at George. After asking him about his predictions for the race, rhey were wrapping up the interview and when George was about to go, she called for him, "Any special celebrations tonight?", she asked with a charming smile, "The team is very pleased with the result, the atmosphere is really good", he said, "we're having dinner around town too, maybe I'll see you there", she finished as she winked at George, you got the definite confirmation that she was flirting with him.
You were putting your earrings on, the last thing you needed to do before leaving, when George brought it up, "and then she just full on winked at me, Sebastian was next to me and I think he nearly choked on his water", "Well, at least she has good taste and is consistent in who she wants", you said, "does it upset you?", he asked. Sighing, you turned to him, "I don't think so. I mean, sure, I don't thrive on the fact that there are many women who throw themselves at my boyfriend everyday because they think he is single, but I can't blame them at the same time in a way like, they are trying their shot on someone they think is available, and I like to believe that most of them wouldn't do it if they knew that I have been around for five years", you chuckled, "You know how I want to protect you from the media and I don't want unnecessary attention on you but if you want to make it public I wouldn't oppose, I just want you to be comfortable", he said as he made his way to you, grabbing your hips as he kissed the top of your head.
.
You walked by the Williams garage, some of the mechanics and engineers waving at you as you made your way to the Mercedes one, finding Sebastian and Lance on the way, "Y/N, how are you?", the Canadian driver asked, "I've been good, and you guys?", you replied, "Excited to be back at racing, and apparently we're not the only ones, I nearly spit the water I was drinking yesterday when the interviewer called for George! I was like 'you don't even know half of it', I swear", the german driver giggled as they bid goodbye, wishing them a good race as you continued your way to your boyfriend's team's garage, waving back at Daniel who had his headphones on and gave you a thumbs up.
You greeted everyone as you arrived in the Mercedes hospitality, feeling confident enough since the driver's parade was about to start and the cameras were elsewhere, moving to the backroom where the cameras wouldn't get access to in order to give your boyfriend his good luck kiss, "Go and show them how to get on the podium, my love", you hugged him as you pressed a light kiss to his lips, "Have a safe race!". He hugged you tighter and pressed a quick kiss to your forehead, "will do darling", before giving you a final squeeze and left to go get in the car.
Going down to the garage, you were given a headset that allowed you to listen to the radio near Angela and Susie, who was also at the race today and watched the race on the screen as the number of laps increased and the fights for the podium began, you could sense the confidence in the team as they read all the stats in the screens and looked at the overall race, the knowledge you acquired over the years allowing you to understand a bit of what they were talking about, "I think it's a podium today", Susie commented. And as he finished in 2nd place, the whole garage erupted in cheer, congratulating eachother, whilst you clapped along, your foot tapping on the floor as you waited for George to come to the garage. As he exited the car and hugged Toto and his engineers and mechanics, you immediately jumped into his arms, grabbing his neck and pulling him down for a proper kiss, the initial surprise on George's reaction quickly left behind as he melted his lips on yours, his hands holding you close to him. Stopping the kiss to breathe, George was the first to chuckle, "Now everyone knows I'm yours, because that's what I am, I'm yours forever", earning him another kiss, "you were amazing out there, congratulations my love! And that's a good thing, because I am yours too, forever", you mumbled.
.
In the final media pen of the weekend, Lawrence was getting George's last interview, "also, just a quick mention of today's celebration in the garage. There seemed to be a very special person here today", the reporter asked, prompting a blush to appear on George's cheeks, "yeah, that was my girlfriend, yeah! She's been accompanying me for five years, even more than that if you count all of our friendship years as well, but yeah, she's been here for the good and the bad, through thick and thin so it's amazing to celebrate these results with her, hopefully a race win soon!", he said, the smile never leaving his face.
Getting back to the hospitality, he found you having a chat with Daniel and Heidi, "George Russel, your missus Y/N Y/L/N and yourself have crashed the internet, you're everywhere! I feel like people don't even care about your P2, all they want to know is who your girlfriend is!", he said loudly as he approached you, "Well, I had to make sure everyone knew that this man is very much not available", you said smiling as George hugged you from behind resting his chin on top of your head as his hands played with your fingers around your midsection, "You just couldn't let anyone take me from you, could you?", he teased, earning a slap on his hands as the three of you laughed together, "Well, at least now everyone will know where all those shirtless pictures are coming from and who they belong to", Daniel joked.
