CaitVi - Something New

Caitlyn is awoken from her sleep by heavy breathing and a dampness near her elbow. The bed shifts as Vi clambers out of bed and into the bathroom. Caitlyn touches the damp spot on the bed and laments what's to come. It's been three years since Caitlyn has met Vi and she's still learning new things. This however is not new but Caitlyn has learned some new approaches. Around this time of year Vi gets…touchy.

She doesn't sleep much, she's quiet, and she's only ever in the mood to pick a fight, physical or otherwise. Their first year knowing each other Caitlyn had approached this topic in a way that could be called indelicate. What Caitlyn calls it is fucking embarrassing and insensitive, everytime she remembers it she cringes. The second year was better but only by half. This year though, this year will be different. Third time's the charm, as Vi loves to say, and also the five times after that because she's so stubborn. But Caitlyn's been preparing for this.

Giving Ted a sister just makes a mess out of Ted’s established history. If this is a sister that has always existed (because everything is canon now), then where was she when Kord Industries crumbled back in the ‘80s? Where was she when Ted was in a coma? Where was she when he was investigating Max and nobody wanted to help him, except Booster and Wonder Woman? Where was she when he died? Where was she when he was a zombie? When did Ted decide to tell her he’s Blue Beetle, and why? Ted’s shitty relationship with his dad depends on him being an only child. Ted’s relationship with the others in the hero community and how they didn’t help him during CtIC depends on him not having any other close relationship at the time that could help him (except Booster). The random brother DC mentioned in CtIC was never mentioned again because it added nothing to Ted’s history. If Ted just found out Victoria is his sister, then fine we can work with that (although I would still think it was a lazy writing trope). But the fact that she’s been around the whole time? Because of movie synergy??
