"Summoned by a king who knows no other greatness than the happiness of his people, the representatives of the nation have broken the fetters forged by despotism: feudalism is destroyed, the great work of our regeneration has begun and advances day by day. After having renounced to those privileges, that destroy public prosperity, the provinces want to forget themselves and to blend into the more regular division of departments and districts. These departments, these districts and the smallest portions of the empire will have a similar organisation. The variety of customs, immense source of abuse, will henceforth be replaced by the most exact uniformity in the laws of administration and justice: with such a beautiful order, shall we let the ancient chaos of our measures persist? Is it not about time to remove so many chances of mistakes, frauds and trials? The present moment is all the more appropriate for a general reform of measures, since the newly adopted principles leave prejudices powerless; and since the people, already disposed towards other more important changes, which have broken their habits, would receive with docility an innovation whose great advantages they could themselves feel."

Quite Time 2/28
What am I feeling today?
I just wish I had gone to bed earlier. I’m very tired and know I have a long day ahead of me. I also didn’t finish all my work so I’m stressed about a couple of those deadlines🥲
Sermon: The Lord Declares War! (Part 3/3)
Exodus 5:22 NIV
“Moses returned to the Lord and said, “Why, Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Is this why you sent me?”
we can relate to Moses here (why would God send us to do His work when it doesn't turn out the way we planned?) We can get discouraged and in our own head about it but keep reminding yourself that God’s plan is far greater than we can ever imagine for ourselves.
2) God Declares War on Counterfeit Imitations of the Truth!
ask yourself: am I fighting God in in any way? In what este/areas of my life and I resisting Him? Is there still something I’m holding on to?
I can get moody and distant. I can let how I’m feeling take control of me instead of being in control of my emotions.
Exodus 7:1-7 NIV
“Then the Lord said to Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet. You are to say everything I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his country. But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in Egypt, he will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the Israelites. And the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.” Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord commanded them. Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh.”
This plagues were meant to humble the Egyptians (leading the question of whether we declare war on false doctrines - bc they had their many gods) not that many people want to be entertained and not saved.
Lastly, I do wonder why it says God hardened Pharaoh’s heart. I believe it’s been explained to me but I don’t remember and wonder why? Why do that? Since He had the power to harden, why didn’t He choose to soften? Or would that just not have worked in the grand scheme of things?
1 Timothy 1:3-8 NIV
“As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer or to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing God’s work—which is by faith. The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Some have departed from these and have turned to meaningless talk. They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm. We know that the law is good if one uses it properly.”
The law is good if we know how to use it properly! No false teachings! There are some people that claim to teach of Jesus and Christianity but it is not biblically sound and therefore is a false teaching.
2 Timothy 3:7-9 NIV
“always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.”
With those In sin, we are meant to call them out (in love) and even here is an example of calling out people by name.
Romans 8:1-4 NIV
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”
Communion: what does the cross mean to [……]?
To him it meant liberation!

title: "Commentaires" source: charlesleclerc.com, as archived by the wayback machine format: website page season: 2008, karting
Some excerpts from the Leclerc family's commentaries on the 2008 karting season, as translated by @maudlintrash:
Charles has become the youngest champion of France in the junior category since its creation (not the creation of Charles but of the championship), and……, the only driver to have gotten a grand slam in that same championship, you know, pole position, fastest lap, and victory in all heats, fastest lap and victory in pre-final and the final. This needed to be verified, it’s done.

In waiting, W O N D E R F U L suspense and Bravo to the winner! This annoys Charlot’s papa, who clenches his ass from the start of the first lap because the Little One was on the damn outside (to pronounce have 1 southern aksent plz). 1st heat. As written above, Papa hung tough at the start but at last, everything went well, thanks Anthoine. A win for Charles, therefore happy because it’s beautiful !!!! 2nd heat A win for Charles, and happy because it’s beautiful too !!!! And then to bed because bed is nice. Last month, two dozen people were indicted in Georgia on charges of smuggling Mexican and Central American immigrants to the United States and forcing them to live in camps and work on farms.
Authorities comparing the illegal operation to “modern-day slavery.”
Operation Blooming Onion
A multi-agency investigation led by Homeland Security named “Operation Blooming Onion” spanned over at least three years revealed at least 100 victims of modern-day slavery were exploited into the U.S. and imprisoned under inhumane conditions as contract agricultural laborers.
In November 2018, several agencies began to investigate the Patricio transnational criminal organization for allegedly engaged in human trafficking, visa fraud, forced labor, mail fraud, money laundering and other crimes.
The newly unsealed 54-count indictment in USA v. Patricio also alleges that in or before 2015, the suspects and their associates would fraudulently use the H-2A work visa program to smuggle foreign nationals from Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras into the U.S. under the pretext of serving as agricultural workers.
“The American dream is a powerful attraction for destitute and desperate people across the globe, and where there is need, there is greed from those who will attempt to exploit these willing workers for their own obscene profits,” said David H. Estes, Acting U.S. Attorney.
“Thanks to outstanding work from our law enforcement partners, Operation Blooming Onion frees more than 100 individuals from the shackles of modern-day slavery and will hold accountable those who put them in chains.”
Inhumane working conditions
Authorities say the illegal operations took place within the Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Georgia; the Middle District of Florida; the Southern District of Texas; and Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and elsewhere.
According to the indictment, the suspects required the workers to pay unlawful fees for transportations, food, and housing — while illegally withholding their travel and identification documents, and subjected the workers “to  perform physically demanding work for little or no pay, housing them in crowded, unsanitary, and degrading living conditions, and by threatening them with deportation and violence.”
At least two workers died under the working conditions, another was repeatedly raped, while others were kidnapped and threatened with death.
Workers were also forced to work at gunpoint, dig onions with their bare hands, paid 20 cents for each bucket harvested, and many were sold or traded to other conspirators.
$200M illegal operation
Authorities say the suspects reaped more than $200 million from the illegal operation — buying land, homes, vehicles and businesses while funneling millions of dollars through a casino.
Additionally, the indictment alleges that in late 2019 — three of the conspirators attempted to intimidate and persuade a witness to lie to a federal grand jury and deny any knowledge of the illegal activities of the Patricio organization.
The defendants face charges that can carry up to a life sentence.
According to the Department of Justice, the operation represents one of the country’s largest human-trafficking and visa fraud investigations.
“OCDETF Operation Blooming Onion maximized the expertise of multiple law enforcement agencies and leveraged analytical and coordination support from OCDETF’s International Organized Crime Intelligence and Operations Center (IOC-2) to target an international criminal organization engaged in human trafficking and visa fraud,” said OCDETF Director Adam W. Cohen.
“The U.S. Attorney’s Office’s leadership of this multi-agency law enforcement effort positions us to disrupt and dismantle the operations of transnational criminal networks that pose the greatest threat to our communities and to the Nation.”

Bienvenidos a nuestro blog.
¡Muchas gracias! Hasta pronto.

So protects them the night, and the friendly shadow of the great pine. “Tristan,” says the queen, “Do the seafarers not swear that this castle of Tintagel is enchanted, and that by this enchantment, twice a year, in winter and in summer, it is lost and disappears from sight? For it is lost now. Is this not the marvelous orchard of which the harp lays speak: a wall of air encloses it on all sides; there are flowering trees and fragrant soil; there lives the hero, never-aging in the arms of his friend, behind that very wall of air that no enemy can breach?" Already on the towers of Tintagel the lookouts ring out their horns to announce the dawn. “No,” says Tristan, “our wall of air has already been breached, and this is not that marvelous orchard. But one day, friend, we will go together to the Fortunate Land from which no one returns. There stands a castle of white marble; in each of its thousand windows gleams a lighted candle; in each, a bard plays and sings an endless melody; the sun does not shine there, and yet no one misses its light: it is the happy land of the living." But atop the towers of Tintagel, dawn shines on the great alternating blocks of azure and green.
Chapter 6, The Great Pine
"Friend, close your arms tightly around me so that, in this embrace, our two hearts break and our souls depart! Take me to the fortunate country you once spoke of: to the country from which no one returns, where illustrious musicians sing endless songs. Take me!" "Yes, I will take you to the fortunate land of the Living. The time is approaching; have we not already drunk all misery and all joy? The time is approaching; when all is accomplished, if I call you, Isolde, will you come?"
Chapter 18, Folie Tristan
— Joseph Bédier, Le Roman de Tristan et Iseult (1922)
(My free translation — somehow these passages were omitted from Hilaire Belloc's English translation)
These are some of my favorite passages of the Bédier version, and I can't find anything like this in either Béroul or Gottfried, so I wonder where it comes from... I love the image of the disappearing castle, but I especially love the ambiguity on whether they're talking about the after-life (which Tristan calls the Land of the Living) or about Avallon — both? They feel like one and the same, here...

Jules Bastien-Lepage - Self portrait - 1880
oil on canvas, height: 31 cm (12.2 in) Edit this at Wikidata; width: 25 cm (9.8 in)
Panier (0)Musée Jules Bastien-Lepage et de la Fortification, Montmédy
Montmédy (German: Mittelberg) is a commune in the Meuse department in Grand Est in north-eastern France.
Jules Bastien-Lepage (1 November 1848 – 10 December 1884) was a French painter closely associated with the beginning of naturalism, an artistic style that emerged from the later phase of the Realist movement.
His most famous work is his landscape-style portrait of Joan of Arc which currently resides at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City.
Bastien-Lepage was born in the village of Damvillers, Meuse, and spent his childhood there. Bastien's father grew grapes in a vineyard to support the family. His grandfather also lived in the village; his garden had fruit trees of apple, pear, and peach up against the high walls. Bastien took an early liking to drawing, and his parents fostered his creativity by buying prints of paintings for him to copy.
Jules Bastien-Lepage's first teacher was his father, himself an artist. His first formal training was at Verdun. Prompted by a love of art, he went to Paris in 1867, where he was admitted to the École des Beaux-arts, working under Cabanel. He was awarded first place for drawing, but spent most of his time working alone, only occasionally appearing in class. Nevertheless, he completed three years at the école. In a letter to his parents, he complained that the life model was a man in the pose of a mediaeval lutanist. During the Franco-Prussian war in 1870, Bastien fought and was wounded. After the war, he returned home to paint the villagers and recover from his wound. In 1873 he painted his grandfather in the garden, a work that would bring the artist his first success at the Paris Salon.
After exhibiting works in the Salons of 1870 and 1872, which attracted no attention, in 1874 his Portrait of my Grandfather garnered critical acclaim and received a third-class medal. He also showed Song of Spring, an academically oriented study of rural life, representing a peasant girl sitting on a knoll above a village, surrounded by wood nymphs.
His initial success was confirmed in 1875 by the First Communion, a picture of a little girl minutely worked up in manner that was compared to Hans Holbein, and a Portrait of M. Hayern. In 1875, he took second place in the competition for the Prix de Rome with his Angels appearing to the Shepherds, exhibited again at the Exposition Universelle in 1878. His next attempt to win the Prix de Rome in 1876 with Priam at the Feet of Achilles was again unsuccessful (it is in the Lille gallery), and the painter determined to return to country life. To the Salon of 1877 he sent a full-length Portrait of Lady L. and My Parents; and in 1878 a Portrait of M. Theuriet and Haymaking (Les Foins). The last picture, now in the Musée d'Orsay, was widely praised by critics and the public alike. It secured his status as one of the first painters in the Naturalist school.
After the success of Haymaking, Bastien-Lepage was recognized in France as the leader of the emerging Naturalist school. By 1883, a critic could proclaim that "The whole world paints so much today like M. Bastien-Lepage that M. Bastien-Lepage seems to paint like the whole world." This fame brought him prominent commissions.
His Portrait of Mlle Sarah Bernhardt (1879), painted in a light key, won him the cross of the Legion of Honour. In 1879 he was commissioned to paint the Prince of Wales. In 1880 he exhibited a small portrait of M. Andrieux and Joan of Arc listening to the Voices (now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art); and in the same year, at the Royal Academy, the little portrait of the Prince of Wales. In 1881 he painted The Beggar and the Portrait of Albert Wolf; in 1882 Le Père Jacques; in 1885 Love in a Village, in which we find some trace of Gustave Courbet's influence. His last dated work is The Forge (1884).
Between 1880 and 1883 he traveled in Italy. The artist, long ailing, had tried in vain to re-establish his health in Algiers. He died in Paris in 1884, when planning a new series of rural subjects.

Tumblr media

La dopamine est produite lors du jeu et ça rend de bonne humeur;
Jouer détend et réduit le stress;
Améliore la concentration et la mémorisation en traitant beaucoup d’information en même temps, par exemple l'enfant effectue plusieurs tâches à la fois, prend des décisions rapidement, et développe des stratégies de jeu;
Les jeux vidéo peuvent possiblement aider les enfants avec la dyslexie;
Développe la coordination main-œil, les réflexes, et le temps de réaction;
Dépendant du jeu vidéo, ça nécessite le travail en équipe, et ainsi, nécessite la coopération et la résolution de problèmes;
Améliore la communication avec les autres;

☞Today in History. On today’s date 177 years ago, Tuesday, July 14, 1846, world–renowned Norwegian-American pogonotrophist-extraordinaire Hans Nilson “King Whiskers” Langseth (1846-1927) was born at the village of Eidsvoll in Akershus County, Norway.
☞Hans Langseth’s claim to fame is his beard, which was the longest ever recorded at 18 feet 6 inches when it was measured at the town of Barney, North Dakota in 1912 when he was 66 years of age.
☞In 1867, Hans Langseth emigrated to the United States. He spent much of his life as a farmer, but for a while he toured with a travelling freak show, exhibiting his beard to the public. He eventually tired of show business & left the freak show after numerous nonbelievers yanked his whiskers to see if they were real. Late in his life, Langseth made the decision to cut off his beard, but he only got part way through it & couldn’t finish the job.
☞Langseth met his earthly demise at the venerable age of 81 on November 10, 1927 when he died from the effects of unspecified natural causes at the town of Wyndemere, in Richland County, North Dakota. He was buried in Elk Creek Church Cemetery in Kensett, Iowa. When he died, his beard measured 17 feet, 5 inches. In 1967, Hans Langseth’s famous beard was donated to the Department of Anthropology at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC.
