News from Belize, 30 May

A court decision in a case between the Christian Workers Union and the Port of Belize has determined that a trade union does not have prima facie immunity from being sued over industrial action under the Belizean Trade Union’s Act.

2. A woman was killed on Saturday inside her business establishment in the Progresso Village, Cayo District.  The police say the killing may be linked to a double murder in June 2019 involving Mario Graniel and Dr Gary Swank.

The incident occurred just after nine o’clock on Saturday night at La Casona Restaurant and Bar.  Reports say the victim was washing dishes at her business place when one male entered, with a motorcycle helmet, and opened fire on Moralez.  The killer then hopped on a motorcycle and left the crime scene, heading towards Georgeville.  Moralez was shot to the upper body.  Love News understands that as many as six expended shells were found at the crime scene.

3. Police have narrowed down their suspect list in the Imari Galvez murder case
