Week 6: No Rebus Puzzle, Topic 3 and Consultation

Key Testing Methods, QA Practices, and Project Progress

Last August 17, 2024, no rebus puzzle to start off the session this time, but the subject matter was just as engaging. Our focus was on ensuring that software not only works but also meets high standards of reliability and usability. Testing is at the heart of this process, and our discussion began with two main types of testing Black Box Testing and White Box Testing. The Black Box Testing is all about functionality and the White Box Testing digs into the internal workings of the software. Both approaches have their strenghts, and a balanced combination helps ensure robust software. we also tackled about the regession testing, which is crucial after making changes to a software system, keeping this process efficient is where test automation comes in. Automating tests saves time and reduce human error. It's especially useful when projects grow larger, and more functionality needs to be tested repeatedly. We also discussed about Quality Assurance practices. QA isn't just about testing—it's a holistic approach to maintaining software quality throughout its development lifecycle. This includes adhering to coding standards, conducting peer reviews, and tracking issues as early as possible.

One of the highlights of the session is seen in the photos above, it was learning about User Acceptance Testing (UAT), particularly John Brook's Method. This method focuses on measuring the usability of software not only functions correctly but is also intuitive and easy to use.

Of course, after our discussion we are group into 6 groups and I am teamed up with Apus, Calalin, Diaz, Gonzales and Mahinay. We have our assessment or class activity every after our discussion. Engr. Suasola showed us 5 items on what to improved about the given UI and for the last item it was where we applied the John Brooke's Method and I am the one who was tasked to do that part. As a group, I can say that we did pretty well and everyone contributed to the answers we came up with.

Earlier, today, August 20, 2024, we had a consultation with Engr. Suasola regarding the revisions from our last consulation. the citation of the Appendix in the Requirements Gathering section was approved! However, we still have a few tweaks to make, specifically in our Data Normalization. During the consulation, we were also reminded of our deliverables before midterm and were informed that our presentation after midterm will be crucial in demonstration our progress. It's a lot to work on, but we're on the right track!

It's clear that testing and quality assurance are more than just final steps in the software development process. They are continuous efforts that start early and are vital to delivering a successful product. I found the exploration of different testing methods enlightening, and it deepened my understanding of how comprehensive testing strategies lead to higher-quality software.

With our project work moving forward, it's a busy but rewarding time in SDE. We're to refine our revisions and prepare for what's next!

On my way to work before the long weekend,

So far, it just triggers my past of being left out, not included and ignored. Although it is normal for us to have different lives, human nature does not lie. I still felt hurt whenever someone does that to me. Eversince, I want to mind my own business too. It is also really hard that kind of feeling does not remove on me.

Specifically, my friends. They just ignored me. Yes, I am like that before but seeing my small group treated me the usual. It is so far different not being reciprocated. I hate them.

Moreover, there is that Leo afro who did not introduce me to his boyfriend. Each of my colleagues has been part of the party except me. Then, a small favor from her is so hard to follow. I just want the freaking groufie. I can say that we are not compatible in terms of friendship. I can tell that is my boundaries. I hate them.

I guess that would be it. Life is short. Looking at the bigger picture always connected with acceptance. We cannot please everyone. I cannot escape this hellhole of triggers so as long as I am alive and breathing. Having my paycheck, my standardized experiences before letting the others enter it, and surviving every single day.

PUERTO PRINCESA, PALAWAN -- The weekend radio news anchors of 'Punto Bandera Nationwide @ 7am' with Rod Saucelo and Henry Santos unexpectedly stopped airing last Saturday morning (August 17th, 2024 -- Palawan local time) while discussing about Transgenderism in Israel at the bottom of the hour. This was due to a scheduled power service interruption (SPSI) in a whole area of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan this weekend.

Local independent and non-profit electrical company 'PALECO' or Palawan Electric Cooperative, in partnership with National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR) implements the said SPSI as recently announced this week from last Tuesday afternoon (August 13th, 2024).

As featured in their radio programme of PBN, from an X Network account '@cirnosad' (formerly Twitter and owned by X Corporation), questions raised on who is behind the rise in Transgenderism. Israel was one of the first countries to allow gender reassignment. There have been efforts to combat workplace and housing market discrimination against trans individuals. The same-sex activity was legalized in the early 90s, but later prohibited a few years more in LGBT rights.

For those don't about PALECO, it was registered with National Electrification Administration (NEA) and holds a 50-year franchise to provide electric power services to its member-consumers in the Province of Palawan. These areas include the cities or municipalities of Puerto Princesa City, Narra, Aborlan, Quezon, Brooke’s Point, Balabac, Rizal, Roxas, Taytay, El Nido, Araceli, Dumaran, Cuyo, Magsaysay, Bataraza, San Vicente, Cagayancillo and Agutaya. Established locally and independent in early mid-70s under the provisions of Presidential Decree #269, as amended by P.D. 1645 in 1979.

Here in the present day, the affected areas are Irawan Feeder, GMA Circuit, Iwahig Circuit, San Jose Circuit, Lacsamana Recloser, Western Command Circuit and Poblacion Circuit in Puerto Princesa from 8am to 8pm. While Roxas, Taytay, Dumaran (mainland) and Lucbuan Feeders 1 & 2 are simultaneously scheduled from 8am to 10am.

And on Sunday, several scheduled blackouts differs in 4 timeslots from 8am to 12nn for Poblacion Circuit and Iwahig Circuit, 11am to 5pm for GMA Circuit and San Jose Circuit, 4pm to 7pm for Roxas, Taytay, Dumaran (mainland) and Lucbuan Feeders 1 & 2, And lastly from 5pm to 7pm affects this said city of Puerto Princesa, much the same from a continuation on Saturday morning.

All in all, NAPOCOR and PALECO are giving their way for annual preventive maintenance in parallel activities of NPC Irawan Switching Station, APMT of NPC Substations in Narra, Brooke's Point & Roxas, and NPC Tie Line from Irawan to PALECO Main Substation, and along with line clearing & upgrading combined.

To make things compensated for the affected member-consumers at PALECO, they will be given a rebate worth PHP10,000 (roughly U$D175) in prizes when you share a photo or videos for those only if you're in Palawan and for pro-PALECO members. Selfie or groufie are allowed to participate and inputting a real timestamp of the date today for the affected SPSI, and not for the anti-PALECO members who were harrased or attacking the local independent and non-profit EC. Entries will be cut-off on Sunday at 8pm (August 18th, 2024), leaving only 5 MCOs gives PHP1,000 bill rebate and 10 MCOs are given away PHP500 bill rebate.

As of this moment, there will be no back-up generators in some establishments, including Radyo Bandera Network (RBN) in the Philippines. The management of DZPA-FM 89.5mhz's Radyo Bandera News FM: Palawan and PALECO publicly apologizes for its listeners and viewers on Facebook LIVE video, as well with the affected area of Puerto Princesa and the entire Palawan region for the inconvenient matter. Punto Bandera Nationwide airs every Saturday mornings at 7am to discuss international issues of the world today. Power will resume later on both Saturday and Sunday nights.

Do you prefer running or yoga? Oof, I have to pass on either. The most I can do for you is walking... now that I enjoy doing lots of.
