My insanity over Murderbot continues (I reactivated this tumblr account after reading the books for the first time in January and literally the only think I have searched for since is 'murderbot' ) and I offer a little trailer breakdown. I said a few days ago I wanted to do this and here we are!!

1) Med System

See this thing in the left bottom corner? That's definitely med system monitoring Arada and Bharadwaj. Love that detail!!

2) Habitat

I am obsessed with Rattih and Arada being just 🧍‍♀️🧍‍♀️ Amazing acting 10/10

Also, please note the colored glas of the habitat, we will come back to that in a second.

3) Preservation bubble

Murderbot infornt of the Preservation habitat. The outside seems to have been painted and I want to know by WHOM (I'm voting Rattih initiated it because he seems to maybe have embroidered his clothes).

4) first move in

I believe this is the first look we will get of the planet and Murderbots arrival. Why? Compare this to the screenshot before. The red cable on the left, the mountains to the right. I thought this might be the habitat of the DeltFall group, but the Preservation logo is on it, so that doesn't really make sense.

5) DeltFall

6) Murderbot getting its ass beaten

Murderbot is getting its ass beaten and we get our first look at an evil SecUnit! Is it one of the DeltFall ones? I think it's gonna be the 'evil survey' unit, purely based on it being black. Could be a nice visual clue.

Listen, I have seen people day this line delivery seems off to them, and I get why. To me, it is pretty much perfect tho. "Stay calm. Everything's gonna be alright." It sounds robotic but with just enough push (cant find the right wird rn) behind it that you want to believe Murderbot. This is also how I look when I am trying to convince myself and everyone else that I am totally fine.

More about the fight with Hostile One: (This *almost* made me burn my schnitzel because I was deep in analysis mode.) I went through the fight and originally thought that Murderbot is delivering the killing(?) blow while still being stuck in Hostile Ones mouth. We see it firing the projectile weapon while being clamped in its mouth. However the final blow (in the trailer) is delivered from groundlevel. At that point Murderbot is not in its mouth.

Okay thats it from me. I have watched this trailer so many times but I am trying to manage my insanity at least a little bit. Let me hear what you think tho!! I need to discuss this so so bad.

Still not really sold on Tawny Newsome's idea for a live action mockumentary-style Star Trek sitcom, but it does have a few things going for it:

A civilian focus, which is something that I've wanted in a Trek series for years

A deconstruction of the rather gross concept of planets like Risa as basically sex tourism destinations

The opportunity to do some groundlevel worldbuilding on the Federation (and presumably alien tourists) for a change

It's set in the 25th century, so post-Picard, which I kind of view as the "present day" of Star Trek canon

Tawny Newsome gets to decide the post-Picard canon of the Star Trek universe, which is kind of ridiculous but also kind of awesome

so i know the immediate thing about the sonic heroes manual is "Oh, Eggman thinks he's a feminist, that's funny!" but this is skipping over what is probably the MOST INTERESTING part of this entire page. according to this, eggman is a romanticist. which actually kind of fits?

romanticism was a cultural and artistic movement of the 1700s. while far too vast a topic to entirely convey in a tumblr post, it was about rejecting social conventions and becoming an individual. passion and intuition were seen as crucial, while anything that evokes an emotional response is seen as beautiful or sublime. they revered nature, and idealised the supernatural and historical.

eggman is certainly a singular individual. he's certainly passionate, and he has NEVER been a man to hide his emotions, from joy to rage. but i can hear you asking: "but eggman? the man of science and robotics, revering nature??? idealising the supernatural and historical??? surely you jest!"

well, no. while eggman is callous towards nature, he doesnt disrespect it either. he could construct vast flying skybases or burrow deep underground where he never has to interact with nature... but consistently, a lot of his bases happen to be on groundlevel. and theyre frequently in forests too, in snowy mountains and seaside locales. his robots are, likewise, themed after animals. observing them and using their existing natural strengths as a baseline to "improve" upon them. this is a man who sees nature, and knows that only the strange grandeur of the natural world can enhance his existing machines.

and eggman also has a general love of history. this is a man who has read ancient manuscripts and carvings from basically every corner of history, and he never complains about it. some of these cultures are literally centuries old, and many of them are outright dead. there wouldnt be any record of how to speak or write them, and yet, doctor eggman learns all these dead languages year after year, seemingly for fun.

as for the supernatural angle, eggman has been making machines themed around mythological creatures for years! this is a guy who makes dragons, krakens, wyverns, giant whales, he made a goddamn robot based on astrology. and thats not counting how many times hes summoned gods, how many times hes harnessed foreign mystical powers, hes probably the foremost expert on magic on the entire planet!

eggman IS a romanticist.

its just... well, like the sonic heroes manual says.

it's hard to recognise that when he keeps ranting about world domination.

Remember way back I posted a headcanon saying that people presume Silver is dumb because of his naive and gullible personality, but he's actually a master mathematician due to his intimate knowledge of timetravel.

So here's the sequel to that post. Silver loves his whiteboards. Doesn't leave home without them. Sometimes Silver just zones out and acts possessed and just goes of scribbling equations on some huge whiteboards that Blaze keeps in the castle's study. Blaze doesn't pretend to understand the strange combination of number scribbles and seemingly random doodles, but she at this point just knows that when eurika strikes Silver has to get it out of his system before he forgets. While levitating, murmuring to himself he can fill the multiple metres-long whiteboards. When he runs out of space he just absentmindedly takes Blaze's gloved palm and starts writing on it. She doesn't mind of course. But Gardon immediately leaps in and bonks Silver on the head with a cane.

After Blaze offers Silver a home in a spare guest room in the castle, Silver of course overjoyed accepts, beyond extatic to be with his partner again. Blaze gifts him a home, food, and companionship of his dreams. What has he given her? He doesn't want to be a freeloader, a burden to his partner. Silver is fundamentally driven by guilt. And so he looks for a job, and he stumbles apon Marine's school, which just so happens to be in need of a physics teacher. And bam! Mr Silver of The Physics Department makes his day due. Plenty of fun shenanagins ensue; Marine being embarrassed by Silver, the kids making fun of him because he's really passionate about the subject, Silver falls asleep in call because he's busy doing time-travel shenanagins at night, Blaze helps donate to the school, she's enamoured seeing him in his element and doing something he enjoys all the while helping people on the groundlevel, superheroics aren't all fighting eldrich beings.

It's another one of those stories I've had in the back of my mind for a while now, but it's way down my list of priorities so I don't know if I will ever even get to it, hence this rambling post.

The beast-hunter had written to Senritsu in his horrible handwriting that the womans read-aloud-app had always problems to decode, that eighty years ago the owner of the Mansion had held a private concert.

The beast-hunter had written to Senritsu, that the Mansion was located a few hours away from the city, so eighty years ago noone had wondered why they had not seen anyone living in the mansion visiting the city for weeks.

The beast-hunter had written to Senritsu, that only after weeks people had seeked out the mansion only to find the mansion silent and the Hall filled with bodies sitting in the chairs as if hey had died from one second to another.

In his horrible handwriting that made Senritsu smile in a mix of desperation and fondess, the beast-hunter had also written to Senritsu, that in the past eighty years the mansion had been often visited by adventuerers- first by those who would loot the left behind corpses because noone had dared to take them away and years later by Beast-hunter like he was one as the mansion or more accurately the flora and fauna around the mansion had changed. It was this beast-hunters that had left behind a metalladder reaching from ground level to a broken in window on the first floor that as the mansion had on ground level overgrown by thick thorny veins that moved like snakes around the walls and made it impossible to use the doors or climb through the windows on groundlevel. Blue flowers opned along the thick vines like eyes whenever one of them came near them as they climbed the ladder into the room on the first floor. It was in this small room, wrapped in a thick layer of twilight that, she suddenly felt Kurapikas head on her shoulder accompanied by a sudden spark in his heartbeat that stabbed sharp like a needle into her ear. Before the woman could react he shoved her behind himself and Senritsu had to hasty grab for the windowsill to not fall backwards out of it. Blinking in confusion the woman looked around- over the dusty walls dressed in what ahd once been expensive wallpaper, over the caopy-bed at one side of the room that had been stripped off evry coth like one would ripflesh off bones, and eventually her eyes landed on the figure sitting still by the vanity with their back to them.

"Oh, its alright, Kurapika." If she wouldn´t had been so suprised, the woman would have laughed but right now all she could bring herself to do was chuckle: " This one can't hurt anyone anymore."

At some point in the last eighty years some adventuerers looking for treasure had come to the mansion and while the woman knew that they very likely had not returned safely, one of them had lay respectfully a blanket over the skeleton by the vanity . The woman felt a spark of thankfulness towards this unknown adventuerer, even if the blanket did not covered the skelton completly and the long, as thin as needles bones that once had been fingers still reached out from beneath the blanket and had digged brutally in the wood of the vanity-table as if the massive wood had been butter before the person that was now the skeleton had died in this position eighty years ago. Senrits looked at the skeleton only for a second and- (-thought about the melody) (-thought about that one second before everything happned ,in which every single hair rose and all her muscles tensed as if she was an animal reacting instinctively to a danger she could not yet understand. Could never understand.) (-thought about the second following, about breaking bones, about flesh ripping appart, about vitals beeing torn like paper,about a throat that was for that one moment nolonger in the right shape to scream, and about everything moving back together wrongly.) -turned her face away with a tiered sigh.

Senritsu had suggested to the Beast-Hunter that what had caused the catastrophe eighty years ago and had changed the plants and animals in the area around the mansion, had been because the Sonata of Darkness had been played on the concert and seeing- (ripped appart flesh) (vitals moved and disorted) (Bones shatterd and mended back together wrongly in a new form) - what had happned to someone who had been in that moment in a room above the Hall and had only heard the melody through walls and closed doors, was enough to proof that her theory was true. It did not changed the fact that Senritsu thought that her beeing at this place would at best give her a lead, for if the Sonata had been played not from the memory but from a sheet, it had by now taken away by one of the adventuerers that had seeked out the mansion, who had somehow managed to leave this place. The open window sended a breeze through the room, making the edge of the cloth over the skleton gently rustle as if the skeleton was breathing. At the edge of her mind the woman wondered, if she would not have been found alive and if there would have been too adventuerers seeking out the place were her and Asks bodies would have been, if one kind adventuerer would have covered up too the mass of twisted bones and flesh that would have been left of her. As soon as the thought had crossed her mind the woman silenced it, pushing it away in the dark corner of her mind where the echo of the Sonata as any other song she had ever heard lay in her memory like a dirty secret she did not dared to think about. She smelled apples, a sweet scent that stroked around her nose almost teasingly. "Thank you for your care, though.", Senritsu hummed and took Kurapikas hand from her shoulder, squeezing it thankfully in her small hand, before letting it go and stepping out from behind him. The afternoonsun falling through the now opned window in their back drew figures of gold on the dusty floor and turned her shadow coleblack. She tilted her head to the side and carefully listened into the stillness of the ruin- the wind came in through broken windows and the way it stroked over old walls, abondoned corridors and rotten furniture made it easy for Senritsu to figure out what awaited her down the corridors on the way down to the hall where the concert had been played for a audience eighty years ago. She heard old wallpaper move in the breeze, rotten wood of furniture creak like an old mans bones, dust moving through rooms and corridors that had for decades only been visited by the wind. And she heard something moving. "Are you sure, you still want to come along? If you barricade the door behind me, you would be safe here if you want to wait for me." With a short finger the Musician pointed to the bedframe and then to the locked door, showing how easy it would be to move the bed before the thick door to keep it safely closed. There was no disappointment or ill- will in the young womans voice; it was a honest, open-minded and oddly calm question that sounded more as if she was asking which kind of icecream the younger would want for a dessert: "I will make sure to finish this prestissimo and don´t let you wait, I promise." usually when a show is this critically offensive and/or thematically desolate i just cut my losses and dont try to fix it in my head bc "well i dont like canon >:(" is how we get some astoundingly stupid takes/fanworks, and anyways trying to fix smth that awful almost always results in some fundamental groundlevel changes that produce an altogether completely different work (you cant fix the amateurish mistakes of High Guardian Spice for example bc the shows identity is unshakingly built on those flaws, youre better off writing your own magical girl story) but i cant help but wonder wtf would i do to tie up the loose threads for rebels
