I KNOW this show establishes that all xBs know of each other on some level but it KILLS ME that we never got Seven and Hugh interact onscreen. This line is just... she knew he was on the Artifact. Had they met before? If so, did they disagree on Hugh's efforts in advocacy, given Seven's whole trauma-induced self-loathing deal? Did she help out the Borg Reclamation Project a bit regardless, through the Rangers?? I have so many questions...

Wish I hadn't used the Thank You pic to insult Greg but in my defense I was truly horrified like when I first saw him. Anyway.

That was my goddamn official Dialtown Liveblog ™ i suppose! At least until I go back to looking at the extras or getting some other shit and BLAH BLAH BLAH you know there's a lot left but that's not the fucking point.

Point is I fucking loved chapter 3 and the game as a whole 👍 I mean it is by no means perfect, there were moments that felt like a fucking drag to get throug, i also wish the emotional potential was pushed further than it was (i did break down when "songbird" tho ngl), and hell, I'm disappointed of how little we saw of some characters (BUNNY I AM TALKING ABOUT YOU but also Abel though him being 100% useless is Funny) BUT, no game is.

Like hell even in the smallest things credit where credit is due the gameplay aspect of this game is pretty good! I love being able to save and be told when my actions DO matter (most VN are way too evil for that, at least the ones i know) and just skipping text too.

The entire art direction is also really on point where even with different graphic artists' inputs they never really clash. And the music just fucks I'd almost forgive the British after listening to together we departed.

And despite my gripes with perhaps the pacing or humor I gotta say; every character here was just a treat. Hell I'm finishing this experience having gotten over my grudge for Abel instead annoyed at how little we saw of him. This feeling is too echoed in the fact Theoroar might be of my fave antagonist too and I'm a bit obsessed with the man. But that dog went off, I am just wishing to see more of all these mfs, ESPECIALLY TANGO TOO I GOT THRU THIS LITTLE REVIEW FOR TOO LONG WITHOUT BRINGING HIM UP 👎👎👎 I LOVE TANGO SO FUCKING MUCH I love all these characters man.

Dialtown is a great game in the sense it feels so alive. Which ironically makes it hard to explain because there isn't a straight line of events to introduce someone into it shit just happens like the world is just spinning.

I won't do my typical "was it good - do I recommend it" thing so instead I'll just say: please consider trying this game out. Even if you're not a horny little objectum enjoyer or whatever other kind of person would play this game it's just a fucking wild experience that I'm amazed isn't more popular. The game is just delightful.

Megatron said he rescued Astrotrain from a tyrant. I thought he meant an Alt!Universe version of him, but now that I know This Bastard is gonna be in it, I’m guessing it’s Tarn

If Megatron DID save Astrotrain from Tarn, it’d be hilarious if Tarn & co. weren’t actually planning to kill Astrotrain, they were just using him as transport, in which case Megatron essentially car-jacked (train-jacked?) them.

As much as I rag on Tarn and the DJD I actually do genuinely love the idea of an Autobot + Decepticon teamup against the DJD THAT WOULD BE SO FRICKIN COOL....

It’s frickin HYSTERICAL that every time Optimus has some ~deep spiritual~ conversation with the past Primes he’s just standing there frozen while the Autobots wait for him to unfreeze like he’s some kind of ancient computer doing updates. Like, that’s legitimately one of the funniest pieces of information canon’s given us so far, thank you for my life Cyberverse writers.

I wonder if Arcee and the other bots ever take selfies with him while he’s frozen like that THERE’S SO MUCH POTENTIAL FOR COMEDY HERE

Optimus: *is frozen for a couple hours while talking to old Primes* Autobots: *put on PJs and unroll their sleeping bags so they can have a slumber party while waiting for him*

Heck now I’m just imagining them playing truth or dare or some similar game while waiting for Optimus to wake up. 

I’m sure at some point during their voyage on the Ark, Optimus froze and they all played the “who can do this silly / embarrassing thing in front of Optimus and get away with it before he wakes up” game. Like, Rodimus somersaults down the hall while spouting fire in front of Optimus, Bee does a handstand while singing the alphabet backwards, etc, and whoever’s in front of Optimus when he “wakes up” loses. (It’d be even funnier if Optimus kept pretending to be frozen while they played until someone did something REALLY embarrassing and he unfroze to freak them out. Then again, the Matrix going back into his chest would probably be too much of a giveaway huh)

DigiFes 2016 Special Drama - liveblogging & random thoughts

I decided to give the subbed Special Drama a second watch and do a little write up on it, because this may be the funniest thing tri. has given us so far.

If you haven’t watched it yet, please DO IT NOW! It really must be seen to be appreciated fully, as the Voice Actors are fantastic in this and it’s particularly satisfying to hear the audience’s reactions - proving that the running gags in the series are pretty much universal. 

Oh, and a huge thanks to onkei-kun for allowing us to access this gift!

The drama starts with a brief recap video with scenes from Saikai and Ketsui. Yay! Nothing like being reminded of the kids happy, normal lives with their Digimon before all the bad things happened and their lives were wrecked! 

By the way, regarding the timeline: this beach trip actually fits the series. It takes place “in one summer day”, after the trip to the hot springs, but before Mystery Man shows up. Looking at the timeline of Ketsui, this probably happens after the Monday when Taichi & co talk to Nishijima at the school and before the chain of events that starts when  Orgemon appears and culminates with the school festival. This explains why everyone is still so happy-go-lucky. 

TL;DR: it may take some mental gymnastics, but this story fits the main timeline and so, presumably, it could be considered ‘canon’.

There’s something utterly endearing about the voice actors, especially the veteran ladies who are all sorts of adorable. I love how some of them are wearing clothes that reflect their characters - Shigematsu Atori stans particularly hard for Piyomon! Mimi’s actress is wearing a dress with cactuses (cacti?)! 

I only recently found out Tentomon isn’t played by an old man but rather by a very talented and prolific young actor, so he’s automatically my favourite (along with Legend Takeuchi Junko).

Speaking of which, it’s now established that Tentomon is a major enabler in Koushirou’s new-found lewdeness, which is both hilarious and frightening when you think about it. Koushirou stealing his dad’s camera is bad enough, but Tento encouraging him to take bikini pics is a new low.

This one belongs in a “Digimon out of context” blog.

Agumon’s food gags are getting old fast (Tailmon agrees). I still laughed though because THAT VOICE.

Also, it seems Mimi dragged Jou into this mess, which is both expected and admirable.

JouxMimi fans, rejoice!

The point of this trip is to introduce Jou to Meiko, which the movies kind of had to skip over. Can’t blame them for that, but thankfully we get a nice little moment out of this. 

Jou calls her Mochizuki-kun, which is pretty cute!

Jou, the only person who would match Meiko in an apology contest.

I realise tri. has made me incapable of interpreting any of Takeru’s lines in a straight-faced way, but c’mon, this is TOTALLY intentional.

In case you’re wondering, Yamato and Taichi are still on a break.

Describe tri. in three words.

Even Hikari is starting to troll Yamato and Taichi. Takeru is a bad influence.

This applies to cooking, bands, holding grudges, and career options.

You know, asking Agumon to light a fire is not a bad idea considering that it probably saved them from starving plenty of times when they were kids.

Does this grill belong to Hiroaki? Is that why Yamato is so against Agumon destroying it?

It’s undeniably canon that Takeru has a weird obsession with Meiko’s cuteness and if it wasn’t for the age difference we’d all be freaking out about this ship.

In Conclusion: This very short drama has a fantastic script that totally gets the characters, the amazing cast gets to shine, and it’s FUNNY as hell. Please, TOEI, do more of these in the future. We’ll buy it.

Also, can we please have a spin-off series dedicated to Takeru’s life as a professional  troll and fuckboi? Cause I’d watch the shit out of that and I know I’m not alone.

While I hate how Picard forgot about Elnor for so long, I genuinely think Elnor was better off without him because it's clear he hates children and he would get him killed sooner or worse. So actually Elnor being raised by the lesbian convent , I mean Qowat Milat, was good for Elnor. Except Picard shouldn't have made that promise so the poor child wouldn't long to see Picard again.

I totally get where you're coming from! I really am not sure what Picard would've done with Elnor had things been different, but there were imho several options in which Picard could've helped without having to raise the kid himself.

It's interesting that now that I got to 1x04 again I'm experiencing once more the same kind of 'wait a second I kinda like where this is going actually', in the sense that in the first few episodes of Star Trek: Picard we're shown the terrible consequences of the one time in his life Picard chose his pride over the commitment he'd made to several people, ie the time he resigned from Starfleet over the Romulan rescue efforts and went straight into early retirement. We see this especially with Raffi (whom also Picard had left to her own devices) and Elnor, and with Picard's own surprise at how bad things have gotten because too many people like him chose to not act when even partial, insufficient action, without any 'official' backing of any kind would have still meant something. It sure would've meant a lot to Elnor and Raffi at the very least.

I thought it could've been a really good commentary on the price paid for inaction and for believing that the official, sanctioned way is the only way anyone can do anything about huge, intractable problems, when in reality any decision that leads to lessening of people's suffering is worth making. But the show lost the plot of this already during this episode (by casting Picard as someone still 'deserving' a voice on Vashti among the Romulan refugees), and I'm not sure I buy either Raffi or Elnor eventually forgiving him or much less apologizing to him (for what exactly it's unclear, he's the one who let them down!)

Anyway, I had great hopes for this show and for Jean-Luc but I don't blame anyone who finds him insufferable now. Picard could've been again a vehicle for talking about responsibility and what we owe to each other even after we've made mistakes, like in TNG's best moments, but this show chose differently I guess.

okay 1x04 is funny because uuuuh the way Picard left Elnor to fend for himself among the Qowat Milat (after having promised to Zani that he would find a better place for the kid rip) lends some believability to Beverly's motivations about not letting Jean-Luc know about Jack

The thing I am finding about ST: Picard is how it has such great ideas but time, budget, and episode runway is not on their side.

This is a show that would benefit going over 10 episodes instead, it’s hampered by it.

I don't disagree with you, the show raises so many questions and begins so many storylines only to tie... only a fraction of them together by the end.

I'm not going to say anything new because iirc this has all been discussed to death in the last three years, but I think a more satisfying version of this show still could've happened even within the 10 episode limit. Even not considering the many issues I have with the plot beats, or the writing refusing to truly commit to the themes it purportedly includes, there's a truly huge issue with pacing. It's really all over the place, even just to where I am into my rewatch; I think at least 1x02 and 1x03 could've been combined into one episode (possibly also making the exposition a little more engaging) and like I love 1x05 but it sticks out so much as something that has only very little relation to the overall plot, even if it fits thematically. And even within episodes that work... the editing and the direction feel so clunky??

I don't know, to me season 1 really feels like something that could've been if not great at least impactful, had it been made with a little more care at every stage. It feels undercooked in every department and it irritates me because even I can see how it could've gelled together, but it never does, or at least not in a way that I find satisfying. It's likely that as you said a couple more episodes would've helped but it also seems strange to me that the production didn't plan the season for the 10 episodes format!

(and not to beat a dead horse again but Star Trek: Prodigy did so much better at a season-long plot even with a crazy production schedule. It can be done despite limitations, is what I mean.)
