Gideon in GTN is the most unreliable narrator but honestly she’s so real for it. I, too, would pay no mind to the discovery of the secrets of eternal life if there were that many hot women around me giving me attention. I would fold so quickly. Gideon baby I wish you’d listened a little closer to the boring stuff but I get you girl. I can’t blame you for a thing.

I can finally post this! Here's my take of the infamous pool scene! 💀⚔️ This took me forever to draw and I was always very tired when working on this, so please forgive for all the inaccuracies and mistakes 🙇‍♀️ (I know they had a forehead kiss, I'M SORRY I FORGOT;;) Still had a lot of fun drawing this!

I just fundamentally don't understand how John Giaus, trillionaire-hater, Maori scientist who was on Tumblr turned around and crowned himself God Emperor and immediately started colonizing the same way his own country had been. Like I understand people change/power corrupts/If All They See Is Spooky Cows Do Spooky Cows but it's such a huge turn around.

New-to-me books of 2023: Gideon the Ninth, Tamsyn Muir

Decided that as part of giving myself credit for the novels I read of my own volition— since I’m much more able to do that now that I’ve graduated college— I’d do a nice little illustration for each book I read this year. Then I realized I first read Gt9 in January… hard to imagine it was that recent, given how thoroughly this series has wormed its way into my heart.

Each book in this series has such a different vibe, and Gideon was such a cool introduction to the world. Her narration is so characteristically hers, and the way everything slowly but inexorably ramps up is captivating. The Locked Tomb ended up meaning a lot to me as a writer, because it’s such a gripping example of how you can be unapologetically genre and magical while also being a master of your craft, writing complicated plots with tons of moving parts and a huge scale and constant symbolic and emotional resonance.

I motored through this book in like a week in mid January, and I’m so glad I did.

Shakespeare was so right when he said there’s something delicious about a main character who, completely through choices they made on their own and often with good intention, ruins fucking everything. 

Touraine fucking everything up in a futile attempt to protect the Sands in The Unbroken. Misaki choosing tradition and family and marrying Takeru only to put herself in a deep depression for 2 decades and never really love her sons until it was too late in The Sword of Kaigen. Ouyang destroying the only person he loved out of deep resentment and self hate in She who Became the Sun. The Binewskis’ self destruction as the psychopath children each try to chase their own happiness to the detriment of the others in Geek Love. Harrow and Gideon’s whole relationship in The Locked Tomb. Literally the entire plot of in The Traitor Baru Cormorant.

Anyone knows the book series "The Locked Tomb"? 💀🖤☄️

I read the first book "Gideon the Ninth" a while ago and it is SO GOOD!! I rarely draw fanart but when I was reading this book, I was very inspired so I had to make stickers of the lesbian necromancers in space :^)

Anyways, I highly recommend reading the first book and I'm currently reading the second book👏
