Polski Piach - P​ó​ł​noc - instrumental chamber blues from Poland; a very woody sound from the trio of guitar, bass clarinet, & basolia

The band Polski Piach (Polish Sands) was formed by musician and composer Patryk Zakrocki. The group draws deep on the traditions of original blues, contemporary classic and desert trance to formulate their own musical language. A language which echoes their native landscape, the nature of Polish rivers and cloudy skies. The musicians hail from the Warsaw improvisation scene and are associated with the label Lado abc. The Polish Sands Project delves into the spiritual bonds which bind the sands of the Mississippi Delta, the Sahara Desert and the Wisla River.

In times when we are united by much, but still divided by more, music can get flayed for being reactionary, opportunistic or undeclared. Meanwhile, the Kurws, on their fourth album, put things clearly, namely head-on. “Powięź / Fascia” is an album founded as much by the culture of anxiety as by their personal dreads. Friend of mine runs a record label and only today has released this beauty. It’s lathe-cut vinyl, which means every record is basicaly hand made. Definitely one of the best records from my country lately. Adventurous sound with wind instruments, electronics and a message: “this record kills fascists”

The actual recordings took place in Wroclaw in the attic of Tranzystor studio during the period 3-5 December 2016 with the simultaneous usage of cassette Dictaphone, digital recorder and studio mixing console. Except for maraca and the choir part no overdubs were used. The first track is a sample from the very beginning of the following track.
