Hey hey hey again! Is Justified worth watching? I’m loving ur gifs and I’m looking for something good to watch.

asking me if justified is worth watching is so dangerous because i literally cannot engage with media like a normal person and i cannot shut up about this show when asked. i will endeavour to keep this as short as possible (and spoiler free!) aldkjfhasd im so sorry, friend. i can't be concise to save my life.

justified is many things. justified is cowboys and kin. its about class and the past. fathers and sons. quick draws, fisticuffs and stalemates. morbid humour and quiet tragedy. and more. if any of this interests you, i implore you to give it a try.

but what it boils down to is, what draws me into a book or a show, are its characters. and justified is chock full of some of the best. raylan givens, deputy us marshal, angriest man alive but so diametrically opposed to his own feelings he doesn't even know whats in his own heart. unmatched at the art of quickdraw, and a great shot, but not as good as his buddy and fellow marshal, tim "i don't miss" gutterson, former us army ranger & highly trained sniper. suffers from ptsd, underappreciated wit and self deprecating humour. not to mention, the rest of their team; competence thy name is rachel brooks, who always tells it like it is. and art mullen, chief and team dad, constantly tired of everyone's shit and drama, who will verbally flay raylan and perps alike without a moments hesitation and who'll make your sides split with laughter.

and those on the opposite side of the law. boyd crowder, my beloved. outlaw to raylan's lawman. they dug coal together when they were nineteen which makes them being on opposite sides of the law all kinds of compelling. speaks like the inside of an oxford dictionary deep fried in a kentucky accent. a chameleon in every respect. impossible to know yet so charming in his ways. and a whole gang of side characters whose flaws and eccentricities will draw you in, and leave you thinking for a longggg time.

and i would be remiss not to mention the fans of the show. lately, my favourite thing to do is hop on tumblr after work and scroll through my fellow justies content. vids, meta & analysis, fic, web weaving, playlists, memes. i can never get enough of ppl talking and discussing this show 'cause they've opened eyes to so many things i never noticed before that will definitely make any (inevitable) rewatches that much more engaging. (and i like to delude myself into thinking that there is a kind of justified renaissance happening with the announcement of the limited series spinoff aldkfjasf)

tl;dr: justified good, very worth watching. pls join me in justified hell the holler.

“Wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you,” he snaps almost like gator teeth, biting the words. It’s a gift because his face tells another story, one of those rare smiles bringing out the dimples and curving his lips upward. “Cause you’re lookin’ at the fifth of I really don’t.” The gang here at work have a lot different feel than he’s used to; larger operational leeway, slower pace, and while Art does his best, the man isn’t exactly terrifying as asset wrangler, is he. Maybe that’s why people like Gutterson and himself were drawn to the job in the first place. Sort of a place to rest and recoup from their lives up to this point. He likes the sniper, kids got a good head on his shoulders but is just squirrely enough that Riley wouldn’t want to dredge up his residual anger. It doesn’t burn as hot or bright as Raylan’s, but maybe that’s what makes Tim dangerous. 

Rachel? Well, what can he say about Marshal Brooks other than she’s tiny and lethally charming. She’s likely the smartest of them all and he wonders if she’s going to some day rue her capability when she gets bucked up the chain and promoted over the rest of them. It’s not hard to see she’ll make a fantastic Chief. Thinking of which, there’s Art. The kind of man who would have made a better dad for all of them than the ones they’d been so unfortunate to have ended up with, knows how to give them enough rope to hang themselves, and when to cut them down before the damage becomes permanent. He reminds Riley of a few of his C.O.s he’s had. And Art’s one of the few people he’d trust to look after Beth in the event that something happened to him. Which then leaves Raylan. He didn’t want to like the man. Too much like Riley himself in a lot of ways. But also there’s a kind of hurt in him that nothing can cure. It’s shaped a lot like Raylan’s father, with a long shadow. Maybe that’s where they intersect. Raylan’s the faster draw. They stand equal on the sharpness of wit. Maybe doesn’t throw a punch as well as Riley but can hold his own when it comes to the bottle. Worst thing is... he sees the shine his sister gets when the older marshal darkens the door. She finds his charm appealing, says some things about him that Riley won’t mention because he just can’t make the words come without wanting to kill someone. Raylan knows she’s too young, too impressionable, and that the someone in question would be him, first. He dismisses all of that with a shrug of a shoulder and a sip of coffee. It’s the other question he finds interesting. “I mean I could always see myself riding the range couple hundred years ago. Or being a knight long before that. Sometimes I wish things were simpler. Easier to know exactly where you stand in regards to wrong and right. So. I guess. Yeah. How ‘bout you. Be some part of the Clanton or James gangs? See yourself as something other than what or rather who you are now?”

cassie st. cyr is tim's spiritual bestie.

they are the realest option we have for gay and lesbian solidarity friendship in justified. they have this ... intimate chemistry together, but it's very much not romantic or sexual in nature. they seem to GET each other from what interaction we get in canon. there's a weird understanding there because they are both broken bird weirdos. kindred souls. queers of a feather. it fascinates me. we deserved more of this shit.

(i would say colt would be an ideal best friend for tim but we have to be realistic. even if colt got clean and stayed away from crime, these dudes would definitely fuck and it would ruin the friendship. they'd never recover from it because colt would have lingering wild jealousy issues and tim would be harshly judgmental of whoever colt got with).

22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like?

not only is tim a sub but he's a bottom. and a brat! i love fics that vibe with my preferred dynamic and role for him, i devour them fully and it makes my heart very happy. i don't like to see him top outside of very specific & slim parameters and i don't like to see him dom at all. no shade on those who write him that way, you do you, i just can't see that for him.
