Alchemist's Skychild pt1 here

in which i proceed to force albedo to bond with the skychild i play as because im very self indulgent

“Do you want any?” Albedo asks the child on his lap. The skychild tilts their head, looking at the berry in Albedo’s gloved hand.

They honk— Yes, Albedo has also learned that skychildren calls are called “honks” but it does not sound anything like a honk— and shake their head. Albedo sighs and pockets the berry for a stray fox. Or maybe for himself. Whichever comes first.

The snowstorm calms down a tad, and the skychild honks and gleefully gets up to run outside and Albedo panics because wait its still storming outside get back here—

Albedo chases the skipping skychild in the Archons-damned snowstorm, and he returns to his base in Dragonspine with a giggling skychild pinned to his chest.

Both of them are covered head to toe in snow.

Albedo sighs heavily. This might just possibly be more draining than keeping Klee in line.

“Yes, okay, keep practicing.. no, the letter N does not have squiggly lines—“

Albedo sighs, leaning back and watching the skychild giggle and finally write the letter properly.

He’s been teaching the child to write; he wants to know more about the enigma in front of him.

And so far, he’s found out a few things through a great bit of struggle with a side of trial and error.

One, they’re called Children of the Light. Or Skychild. They confirmed two answers.

Two, their calls— the little bell-like sounds that can mimic certain other animal calls— are called honks.

He asked what animals they can mimic. They shrug and let out a deep call, mimicking a whale. Albedo notes to keep them away from the sea, just to keep them from scaring anyone sailing the ocean.

Three, they can understand Teyvatian Common. But they can’t speak it. Hence the skychild hunched over the paper Albedo gave them, scribbling messy Teyvatian letters.

They lift it up, giggling and shoving it near Albedo’s face. On the paper, the word “Fuck” is written.

Albedo startles.

“No!”

“Where are you from?” Albedo’s curious gaze felt like it burned holes through the skychild’s Chibi Mask.

They scribble messily on one part of the given parchment.

Do not know. Does not have name. Only regions(?) have name.

He bites his lip to stop himself from groaning out loud. “Then what is your name?”

The skychild ponders for a bit. And writes four neat rune-like letters.

Albedo raises a brow. The skychild shrugs, and scribbles messy Teyvatian letters again. 'Do not know what it is equal to. But this is name.'

Albedo nods, taking out a notepad and copying the runic letters. If they don’t know how to translate their name, it’s fine. It’s understandable. But it poses a miniscule problem.

The night goes on and Albedo tries (and fails) to feed the skychild. Sighing, he writes a note next to the copied runic letters.

This "skychild" does not seem to eat. Test further.

The early morning light spills into Albedo’s campsite, waking him up. Despite popular belief (within the people that even know of his more.. artificial origins) he does, indeed, like his sleep undisturbed.

He blinks blearily, looking around the cave in a daze. The skychild is playing around with the fire on the torches by the entrance, nothing seems to be exploding— wait what.

He scrambles up, still somewhat drowsy, and sluggishly strides over to pull them away from the flickering flames.

Albedo distantly notes that the five compass stars on the skychild’s cloak— in a straight line going down the middle of the cloak’s back, all having thick borders and four of them having spikes between the star’s points— are all glowing rather brightly.

“What were you doing there, hm? Are you not scared of fire?” He bundles the little problem child on his lap as they giggle and honk cheerfully.

Albedo carries the tittering child back inside, their laughs still very much audible even as they try to cover their mouth to muffle it down as much as they could.

Soon, Albedo manages to set the little skychild back to practicing their Teyvatian on their paper while he cooks something light to eat.

Speaking of, they haven’t eaten… Albedo offers them a bite of his specialty, (which, admittedly, he is very proud of,) Woodland Dream, to the skychild.

He smiles when he realizes they’ve given up on practicing their Teyvatian letters, and have now filled over half of the paper he gave them with scrawls and scribbles of jellyfish with crowns and what he could only assume was mantas with some highlights lining their wings.

Albedo extends the proffered bite of his meal closer to the budding artist. “Do you want any?”

The skychild looks up, chittering curiously, before shaking their head with a chirp. Albedo raises an eyebrow. “You haven’t eaten.” The skychild honks back.

This skychild does not seem to eat.

Albedo crosses out Test further and scribbles two hypotheses below.

A. slower metabolism rate.

B. has no need of physical food; does not eat for more than a week.

In case A, find out what they eat. In case B, find out their energy source.

Albedo flips the pocket notebook shut with a sigh.

The whole time Albedo has allowed the skychild under his wing was a shitstorm, really. But it’s a good one, he swears.

After finding out they can fly, however, Albedo has taken to teaching the skychild Mondstadt’s rules in gliding. It’s not the same, but it’s a good base to start on.

No, what do you mean he sends the skychild out to collect him samples? what an absurd— yes, yes he does. Hence the skychild crashing onto his stone floor with a chunk of scarlet quartz.

He’s also found out that the skychild retains no collision damage, as the skychild jumps back up to rush over and offer the scarlet quartz in their chubby little hands cheerfully, honking loudly.

Albedo sighs and accepts the quartz, offering the buzzing skychild a few headpats in return. He places the quartz gently onto his table and watches the skychild throw themselves into a decently large campfire right outside his campsite.

Two long, desperate weeks of him trying to feed the skychild anything to just watch as they simply absorb energy from fires as they sit on it, chirping happily as if they aren’t in a position that endangers anyone else should they try…

Albedo thinks he deserves a pat on the back for going through that. Archons, he genuinely started to think he wasn’t going to be able to keep the thing alive just because he couldn’t figure out what they eat.

He watches the dimmed compass stars on their back regain their glow, waves of light passing through their cloak like it’s putting on a pretty little show for everyone else before it’s stored for flight.

Of course, they’re taught not to fly outside when unneeded. He doesn’t need Rosaria breathing down his back more than she already is. Albedo shivers at the thought.

Although he commends the dedication.. please stop.

He whistles lowly, and the skychild comes skittering over in an excited buzz; he can’t just keep calling them “skychild” forever, that would be dehumanizing.

Although they aren’t really human to begin with…. the whistle is simply a placeholder until they figure out the Teyvatian translation of their own name. The messy scribbles on the spare paper scattered around his table tell him they’re close to figuring it out.

Albedo hands them blank paper and a charcoal pencil with a teasing grin. The skychild whines in complaint.

It’s time for them to practice their Teyvatian Common letters again.

Alpha Tau fraternity. Arguably the hottest, most popular frat at University of Paradis. Ask any sorority girl who their favorite type of guy is. Nine times out of ten, their answer is “an Alpha Tau”. The same answer applies if you ask any goddamn independent who the worst type of guy is. Girls want to fuck them, guys want to be them, GDIs want to hate them. And that’s why they are the kings on campus. 

For the past ten years, Alpha Tau has always had the most numbers when it comes to recruitment, also known as “rush”. Every potential new member puts them at the top of their list. But that didn’t mean they had the most members.

The thing about Alpha Tau is that they pride themselves on being exclusive. As if a fucking frat wasn’t already “exclusive” enough. They are notoriously critical when it comes to accepting new members, often spending hours during rush week to decide who is worthy of being a brother. The basis of this is usually looks, athletic ability, legacy, and sometimes even academic prowess.

That’s how current sophomore Eren Jaeger and his best friend, Armin Arlert, managed to finesse their way into the elusive club. Eren’s older half-brother, Zeke, who graduated from Paradis a few years back, was a legend in Alpha Tau, known as “The Beast”. Zeke told him all kinds of wild stories about his college shenanigans, specifically about his time in the fraternity. Crazy parties, drunken adventures, all the hot chicks he hooked up with. It sounded like a dream come true to Eren after his horribly boring freshman year. That’s what inspired him to rush this year as a sophomore, dragging Armin along with him.

Once the frat found out Eren was a “legacy”, being related to “The Beast”, he was a shoo-in. He also persuaded them to give a bid to Armin, convincing them that he is the smartest and most strategic man they’ll ever meet, right next to Erwin Smith, the current president of the fraternity.

The others in his pledge class are Connie Springer, Jean Kirstein, and Marco Bott. Jean and Marco got in based on their athletic ability; they are members of the college soccer team. Connie was recruited purely for his funny personality and good nature. And maybe also the fact that he is a massive stoner, which they took a liking to.

Tonight is the first chapter meeting that the new pledge class is allowed to attend. After a few weeks of new member development, taught by the strait-laced and straight-edge senior Levi Ackerman, Eren and his class are officially Alpha Tau brothers. Now the fun begins.

As they fall in line outside the chapter room, Armin leans in close to Eren and whispers, “Some of the members got kicked out.”

He whips he head around and asks, “Huh? Are you serious?”

“Yeah. I heard that the last president, Nile Dok, messed up big time last semester. He was turning a blind eye to all the problematic members. They were caught cheating and trying to pay their way out of trouble. Obviously, they didn’t get away with it.”

As some of their other brothers start falling in line in front of them, Armin continues in a slightly hushed voice. “Also, they called themselves the Mega Pornstars, or the MPs for short. They had their own group chat, rating the girls they’ve hooked up with and ranking them. They had a whole list. Someone in that chat let it slip to Erwin, who immediately brought it up to Nile. And Nile knew about it all along. He was in the group chat himself, but never participated in it. But he knew about it. Saw what they were saying and didn’t do anything to stop it. So now, with Erwin being president, those members were immediately suspended during the summer. And the ones who graduated, he stripped them of any association with the fraternity.”

“How do you know about this? You seem to have all the details.”

Armin looks down to his side, and in an even quieter voice, replies, “Mikasa told me.”

Mikasa.

At the mention of her name, Eren instantly feels guilt. Ever since he decided to rush, he hasn’t had time to spend with his other best friend. Well, truth be told, he hasn’t made the effort to spend time with her. Armin, on the other hand, has. Making him feel even worse.

Realizing what Armin just said, he asks, “Wait. How does Mikasa know?”

Armin gives him a small smile and states, “Mikasa joined a sorority.”

Rushing a sorority was not something you thought you’d be doing the start of your sophomore year of college. But somehow, a few weeks later, you find yourself sitting beside your roommate and now pledge sister, Mikasa Ackerman, in your first chapter meeting as an official member.

The two of you have an interesting relationship. You were roommates in your freshman year, but it almost felt like you lived alone. She was always out with her friends and she only came back to the room to sleep and bathe. While she wasn’t necessarily your best friend, the few times you interacted were always cordial. Sure, she is a little intense, but she is never rude. Just absent.

It surprised you when you received a text from her over the summer asking to be roommates again. You thought she didn’t care enough to even consider you. Honestly, you felt a little honored. Despite her intensity, you always found Mikasa Ackerman to be cool. Aside from her dashing good looks, she had a confidence about her that just screamed badass. You lacked confidence yourself, finding your looks to be unassuming and plain. It didn’t help that your freshman year turned out to be as uneventful as you were hoping it wouldn’t be. How does one even find a party to go to? The few friends you made are just as home bodied as you, so spending time inside the dorm was the norm.

Sophomore year has proved to be much different than last. Mikasa, who used to be a ghost roommate, is now your friend. She spends most of her time with you now. Obviously, you don’t question it. Instead, you embrace it. You like Mikasa. It’s fun hanging out with her. It’s like you’re making up for lost time.

When she suggested rushing, you couldn’t help but think it was a joke. But no, she was dead serious. And as if Mikasa wasn’t already convincing enough, she asked you, “Don’t you want to be more social this year? Go to college parties? Meet boys? Have fun?”

And that’s how you end up as an official sister of Sigma Nu Kappa.

The thing about Signa Nu Kappa, or SNK for short, is that they aren’t the most popular sorority on campus. Notoriously, women rank it last on their interest list during rush week. On paper, it’s an organization that has great academic reputation, making it well liked among the professors and staff. They are the ideal representation of what the Student Affairs Committee want a sorority to look like. However, to the fellow students, they are boring. They don’t party. Their social reputation amongst the other organizations in Greek Life is essentially nonexistent. It’s also seen as the place where all the women who couldn’t get into their first pick, maybe even their second or third, end up joining. The rejects.

Is it true? Maybe for some women. But after getting to know the sororities during the first week of recruitment, both you and Mikasa end up ranking SNK first. You feel comfortable with the women there. While the other sororities are nice, it’s Signa Nu Kappa that feels like home, as cheesy as that sounds.

Now, after a few weeks of getting familiar with the sorority and Greek Life in general, you and Mikasa sit beside each other, attending your very first chapter meeting as Sigma Nu Kappa sisters. Current president, Hange Zoë, stands at the podium, reading announcements off a piece of paper.

“Welcome new babies to your first official Sigma Nu Kappa chapter meeting! Woohoo!”

The other sisters clap, beaming at you and the rest of your class. You give Mikasa a knowing smile, which she returns. Hange reads off a list of housekeeping items, none of which apply to you considering you don’t live in the house yet.

“Okay! The boring stuff is out of the way. I’ll let our Social Chair take the stand now!”

Petra Ral, another senior, take’s Hange’s place at the podium. “Hi sisters! I have a very exciting announcement to make. This semester, we are being paired up with a fraternity in the effort to build stronger relations with the others in Greek Life.”

This news creates a buzz around the room. You hear one of your pledge sisters, Sasha Braus, squeal two seats down, “Ooohhh boys?!”

Petra continues. “Now I know we don’t have the best reputation for being the most social sorority, and this partnership might be a little bit out of the comfort zone for some of you. But we strongly believe this is a great way to improve the status of our organization. We don’t want to be seen as a sorority that only performs well academically. If we want more women to join us, we need to be seen as fun! Which we are! They just don’t know it yet!”

Hange exclaims, “Well said, Petra! There’s no doubt that we are a fun group of women. People don’t know it yet. But they will soon enough!”

“So which frat are we pairing up with?” Nanabe, another senior, asks.

With a bright smile on her face, Petra announces, “Alpha Tau!” The buzz in the room is even louder now.

Suddenly, you feel Mikasa stiffen beside you. You turn to her and whisper, “Are you okay?” There’s a worried look on her face, but she doesn’t say anything.

Three seats down, next to Sasha, you hear a sarcastic snort from Annie Leonhart. “Great. We’re getting paired with a bunch of disgusting pigs.”

Christa Lenz, who sits to your other side, leans forward to ask innocently, “Annie, what do you mean?”

Ymir puts her arm around Christa’s chair and answers, “She means exactly what she said, sweetheart. Alpha Tau is a frat of disgusting pigs.”

Mikasa snaps her head towards Ymir and yells, “They’re not!”

You and the rest of your pledge class are taken aback by her outburst. Annie leans forward to face Mikasa with a smirk. “Don’t worry, Mikasa. I don’t include Armin when I say that. But everyone else in there can choke and die for all I care.”

Mikasa glares at her, fury in her eyes, looking like she’s ready to attack. Before anything escalates, Hange joins Petra at the front. “Okay, listen everyone. I know this is a very…controversial decision. Now, let me reiterate that what is said in this chapter room, stays in the chapter room. Got it?” She eyes you and your pledge class before proceeding.

“Alpha Tau is very close to being on probation by the Student Affairs Committee. Some of you may already be aware of this, but a small group of their members participated in some very inappropriate conduct. Since Erwin has been president, those members have been kicked out and properly dealt with. Erwin has made sure that they no longer represent Alpha Tau in any way whatsoever. Both Erwin and Levi Ackerman, their vice president, came to me and Petra wanting to form a partnership this semester in an attempt to improve their besmirched reputation. By pairing with us for a semester, they hope to prove to the committee that they can be a respectable fraternity, both with academics and towards women.”

Nanabe questions, “Why us? The other sororities perform fine academically too. Seems so out of the blue they want to partner with us.”

“Well, based on numbers, we have the highest average GPA. Also, truthfully, none of the other sororities were willing to partner up with them. Considering the circumstances.”

“What circumstances?”

Hange pauses, unsure whether to continue or not. “Okay. Let me say this again. What is said in this room stays in this room. The now banned brothers from Alpha Tau made a list ranking the women they had sex with.” There are a few gasps and shocked reactions at this news. It makes you sick hearing it. “This includes many women from the other sororities. So, naturally, the presidents of each of those sororities are choosing to distance themselves from Alpha Tau, at least for this semester, once all the smoke clears. Until then, we are the only sorority who has a clean slate with Alpha Tau.”

Petra adds, “Also, both me and Hange are close to Levi and Erwin, respectively, and they’ve been wanting to pair with us for quite some time. Now that they are prez and vice prez, they have more say in those matters and are finally making it happen.”

“So, we’re just supposed to be okay with pairing with a fraternity that ranks women based on their skills in bed? How is this okay?” Annie argues.

“They kicked out those members! The current brothers had nothing to do with it!” Petra cries out.

Ymir chimes in with a smug expression. “Wasn’t their last president in on it too? That Nile guy? And is it true they called themselves the Mega Pornstars?”

Hange answers with a frenzied look, “Nile didn’t participate in it! And he’s already graduated, so it doesn’t matter anymore! But yes, unfortunately the Mega Pornstars thing is true.”

More groaning surrounds the room. You look over at Annie, who crosses her arms with a furrowed brow, silently sulking. Turning your head the opposite way, you see Ymir whispering to Christa, who eyes are wide with shock, the poor thing. Suddenly, Mikasa stands up straight, the unexpected movement making you flinch.

“My vote is yes for this, President Hange! We have to help them get their reputation back. For Armin…and…and for Eren…” She stops talking, looking deep in thought at that last part.

Eren? He must be the other friend. The one she no longer hangs out with.

Hange looks over at her, confused. “Uhh, we don’t technically need to vote on this, but thank you for the vocal support, Mikasa. Look everyone, I know this is unprecedented, but I can assure you: This is going to be beneficial for both parties. They need our help to build back a good reputation; we need their help to further improve ours. It’s a win-win.”

“We’re going to be collaborating with them mostly for charity events. But we were thinking we can also have a couple of exchanges, for fun. Oh, by the way, for our new members, exchanges are social events between a sorority and fraternity. We haven’t gotten down to the nitty gritty details, but I will update you soon on a schedule of events!” Petra explains.

The president takes over again and ends the chapter meeting, thus ending the conversation on Alpha Tau all together. You and Mikasa gather with the rest of your pledge class to walk back to your dorms. Sasha is the first to bring it up once you’re well away from the house. “So, what do you ladies think? About the whole Alpha Tau thing?”

Ymir scoffs, “Well, you all certainly know how Annie and I feel. I’m trying to convince little Christa here to feel the same, but she’s not having it.”

“I just think we should give them a chance. Just like they’re giving us a chance, right?” Christa says, as sweet as ever.

After having a few minutes to digest the information, you say, “I agree with Christa. I think we should go in with an open mind. I trust Hange and Petra’s judgement. I don’t think they’d put us in a situation that would harm us. This Erwin Smith guy seems nice enough.”

“It’s not Erwin Smith I’m worried about,” Annie says.

“Annie, stop being so cryptic and just tell us what you know!” Sasha exclaims, biting into a piece of bread that she somehow conjured from her pockets.

“There are these two guys I know in there. One of them isn’t so bad. Bertolt. He’s actually okay. The other, well. He’s just a straight up dick. Reiner. Reiner Braun. Straight up asshole.”

“What makes him such an asshole?”

“He’s just a typical frat boy. Obnoxious, cocky, a player. The three of us went to the same high school. They’re a year older than me.”

“Just because he’s a fuck boy doesn’t mean they all are! Armin’s in there, and he’s a total sweetheart! Right Mikasa?” Sasha turns to Mikasa, begging for a comment.

Mikasa stares at the ground with her hands in her pocket. Quietly, she replies, “Yes. Armin is a sweetheart.”

“Isn’t your other friend in there too? Eren? What’s he like?”

You try not to let your curiosity show, but you can’t help but perk your ears up to Sasha’s question.

Mikasa stays quiet for a few seconds, before saying, “He’s nice too.” No more elaboration.

“See, Annie? All we have to do is avoid this Reiner guy and it should be fine! Don’t let one rotten potato spoil the whole bag!”

“Why does it always seem like you’re talking about potatoes, you doofus?” Annie snaps.

You all veer off into different directions, saying goodbye for the night. As you and Mikasa walk towards your dorm, you let a comfortable silence fall between you, not wanting to cross any lines with your roommate. At the door, Mikasa mutters, “Wait.” You turn to face her, listening.

“I’d like to get some things off my chest.” You mentally brace yourself for what she’s about to reveal to you.

“I know that you’re probably wondering who Eren is. He’s my best friend. Him, me, and Armin. We all grew up together, but Eren is practically a brother to me. And I know you must have been curious why all of a sudden, I’m hanging out with you more than them.” She swallows before she continues. “The truth is, ever since he rushed Alpha Tau, he’s been too busy to hang out with me. Sometimes I think he’s forgotten about me completely. Armin still makes time to see me, but even he’s too busy nowadays. So, I joined a sorority to make more friends and be more social, instead of sulking in my own loneliness. And I don’t harbor ill feelings towards Eren. Maybe I did at the start, but not anymore. I just…I just want to make sure he doesn’t forget about me.”

She stares at the ground the entire time, arms crossed over her chest. “I guess what I’m trying to say is thank you. For being my friend. And going through this with me. And since we’re going to be seeing a lot of Alpha Tau now, you should know about Eren, since you’ll probably be seeing him too.”

This is the most you’ve heard her speak. It stuns you for a few seconds. You let a moment of silence pass before you walk towards her and put an arm around her shoulder. “Mikasa. Thank you for telling me. I know it’s not easy opening up.”

She looks at you, expression still serious. “It’s not, but I feel like you should know.”

“I appreciate it. Hey, I know it feels like you may have lost a brother, but at least you gained a sister, right?”

Finally, a small smile forms on her lips. “Yeah, I guess that’s one way to look at it.”

“You should just try talking to him, tell him how you feel,” you suggest as you swipe your ID to open the door to your dorm.

“I’ve tried to text him, but he never responds. I can’t ever get a hold of him.”

“Well, maybe this collab with Alpha Tau is exactly what you need to reconcile with him.”

“I guess.”

Back in the room, the two of you change into pajamas and start getting ready for bed as you continue to chat about other topics besides Eren. Once in bed, you turn to your side and contemplate the night’s events.

There’s no denying that this partnership with the most popular fraternity on campus excites you. Disregarding the giant shit stain from the bad apples, everyone knows that Alpha Tau are the “cool” guys on campus, whatever that means. Maybe this is exactly what you need to work on your confidence. It’s a good opportunity to meet new people, maybe practice a little bit of flirting. Maybe even make some new friends.

One thing is for sure: You are determined to make this year more exciting than last.

Erwin Smith, Alpha Tau’s chapter president, stands up straight in the front of the chapter room. His first announcement of the night is regarding “big brother” assignments.

“New pledge Armin Arlert. Your big brother is Bertolt Hoover.”

Bertolt, who sits in front of them, turns around to give Armin a kind smile, which is returned.

“New pledge Eren Jaeger. Your big brother is Reiner Braun.”

Right next to Bertolt is blond-haired junior Reiner Braun, who turns to give Eren a cocky smirk before saying, “Hope you’re ready to fucking party, man.”

Eren smirks back. “Hell yeah. You gonna show me the ropes?”

The blonde only scoffs as he turns back around to face the front.

Eren nudges Armin before paying his attention back to the president. After he reads off the other big brother assignments, he says, “I’d like to give the floor to our vice president, Levi Ackerman.”

“Good evening, everyone. Welcome new members to your first chapter meeting. On a serious note, I have some news that I know most of you are aware of already.” He explains the situation about Nile Dok and the “MPs”, more or less of what Armin told Eren just a few minutes earlier. “I know it’s a bit of a hit to our numbers, but those members did not exemplify the values of Alpha Tau. President Erwin did what needed to be done.”

“Hear hear!” one of the seniors yell, followed by some cheers from the others.

Another senior that Eren met a few days ago, Mike Zacharias, says, “Fuck the MPs. And fuck Nile Dok.”

“Mike,” Erwin warns from the side. Nile was Erwin’s big brother, unfortunately.

Levi continues. “Honestly, we should be ashamed we let those fucking pricks into our organization in the first place. But what’s done is done. Now onto my other big announcement. To atone for what those fucking shit stains did, Erwin and I have decided the best way to move forward is to pair up with one of the sororities on campus.”

This news results in an overwhelming round of cheers and hollering from the brothers, to which Eren can’t help but join in on. He nudges Armin again, who smiles.  Jean, who’s seated on Armin’s other side, leans in close to whisper, “Who do you think it’s gonna be? I hope it’s the Delta Mu’s, they’ve got the hottest chicks.”

Connie chimes in, “Eta Iota girls are hot too. Walked by them while they were doing their porch yells last week.” He lets out a low whistle.

“Oh yeah! All the sororities had their first chapter last Sunday,” Armin notes.

Levi raises his voice over the commotion. “Alright brothers, settle down, settle down. After a lot of discussion, we’ve decided that the sorority we’re pairing with is Sigma Nu Kappa.”

A different outburst fills the room now. There are a few cheers, mostly from the seniors, but there is an overwhelming sound of disappointed groans.

“Sigma Nu Kappa? Are you fucking serious?” Reiner grumbles to Bertolt, who just nods with a neutral expression on his face.

Armin, on the other hand, can’t help but grin and exclaim, “Yes!”

“You know about them?” Eren asks.

“That’s Mikasa’s sorority!” he answers, excited.

Eren still can’t get over the shock that Mikasa Ackerman, the girl he grew up with over the last ten years, the woman who looks like she couldn’t hurt a fly but can actually kick your ass, is now in a sorority. It’s something he has to see to believe. And given this announcement, he’s going to see it sooner than he expects.

“Now, I know a lot of our brothers aren’t familiar with the sisters of Sigma Nu Kappa. This is a great opportunity to get to know them. Most of us seniors are familiar with the other seniors in Sigma Nu Kappa and I can say with full confidence that they are a group of fine, albeit unique, women,” Levi tells them.

Erwin stands up and walks beside Levi, adding, “Yes. It’s in all of our best interests to be respectful and welcoming to the sisters of SNK. As Alpha Tau men should be to all women. I will not tolerate disrespect or harassment of any kind. I am quite close to President Hange Zoë, so be warned. Any hint of misconduct, you are out.”

“Petra, who is their social chair, and I are working on a schedule of events. We plan to have our first exchange in two weeks, followed by a volunteer event a week after that. I’ll send an email reminder later, along with role assignments for the exchange. Any questions, you can come directly to me. My room is on the second floor.” With that, Levi adjourns the meeting. Before they file out, Levi yells, “Pledges. Meet in the kitchen in five minutes. I’d like to have a word before you leave tonight.”

Armin and Eren tail the rest of their pledge class as they make their way downstairs towards the kitchen.

“This is exciting! I’ve been curious about this sorority ever since Mikasa told me she was rushing. She said this was her top choice.”

“Why didn’t she say anything to me?”

“I’m sure she tried to, Eren. You don’t ever respond to her texts.”

“Well, how am I supposed to respond to a text that just says ‘Eren’? If she has something to say, she should just say it.”

“Oh, Eren,” Armin responds, shaking his head in disappointment.

They gather in the kitchen, waiting for Levi to meet them. He comes down two minutes later, a stern look on his face, as usual.

“Pledges. Just wanted to clarify some things. An exchange is a gathering between a sorority and fraternity. I know I said I have some role assignments, but I can assure you, you will not have any assignments during our first exchange with Sigma Nu Kappa. We want you to enjoy your first party as official Alpha Tau brothers.”

Jean responds, “Hell yeah. Good shit, Levi!” Marco follows with a cheerful, “Yay!”

When the vice president dismisses them, Armin and Eren make their way towards the front door to start walking to their dorm. Before they reach the handle, Reiner’s voice booms from the top of the stairs.

“Eren! Armin! Bertolt and I are getting McDonald's. Want to come?” 

The best friends look at each other for a second before agreeing with a resounding, “Yes!”

A few minutes later, Eren and Armin ride in the back of Bertolt’s Honda Civic while Reiner occupies the passenger seat. Classic 80s rock blasts through the car’s speakers as they ride off campus with the windows rolled down.

Reiner turns the volume lower on the car to speak. “So, what did you guys think of your first Alpha Tau chapter meeting?”

Armin replies, “It was cool! I’m excited to be paired up with Sigma Nu Kappa.”

Reiner scoffs, similar to what Eren heard earlier in the chapter room. “I don’t know about these Sigma Nu Kappas. I heard they’re pretty lame.”

“My best friend is in SNK, she’s in the new pledge class,” Armin says, a bit defensively.

“Annie’s in there too,” Bertolt adds.

Another scoff from the blond. “Annie? Now I know for a fact they’re lame if they gave her a bid.”

Eren notices Bertolt’s grip on the steering wheel tighten but doesn’t say anything in response.

“Hey, Eren. Did Zeke ever tell you how he was my big bro when I first joined? He was a senior when I was a freshman, and he already had two other littles from the previous pledge classes. But he still picked me up. Dude was a legend,” Reiner says.

“I didn’t know that. I guess it’s fate that brought us together,” Eren responds, with a deadpan expression.

Reiner laughs. “You’re a little crazy, you know that? You say some weird shit, but I like you. This is going to be fun.” He turns towards the front and blasts the music on high again, drowning out any potential for further conversation.

Eren nods his head along to the music, leaning his face towards the open window to feel the coolness of the night air against his skin. The breeze blows through his long hair as he repeats the sentiment from Reiner in his head.

This is going to be fun.

Itachi

I’m not going to sit here and act like he didn’t do some horrible and dumb things, causing more harm than good. This guy could have solved a lot a things by opening his mouth. But he looks cool and I’m stuck to the few good things we did get from his true nature

Sasuke

I have strong feelings surrounding Sasuke and I’m going to try not to rant. Out of all the Uchiha, I understand his motives the best and his anger towards Konoha is more than justified… but him being continuously shown displaying a lack of communication skills irks me to my core. I also would have been all for movie with more of his POV, but that’s just me. It’s complicated because I either, don’t care or care too much depending on the day/specific grievance 💀

On a brighter note, I think he has one of the best character designs in the whole series

Shisui

A mischievous sweetheart. 1000% deserved better. He also had a horrifying ability that would have been great for a villain and he has the best lashes in Konoha. I like to believe he survived and is living life as a blind old man somewhere leave me alone 😭

My Uchiha Husband, you forgot him 😌 sure he’s got a laundry list of problems and he’s a red flag, but I’m an Obito apologist lmao. Unpopular opinion; I don’t think he started a war simply over Rin, I think Rin’s death was just the last straw as he had old man Madara brainwashing him for a good bit. Also he’s the hottest Uchiha imo

In conclusion; they’ve all done a lot of things wrong, but they weren’t necessarily wrong for feeling the way they did. This is the problem when you’re a lover and fighter 💀

Through the rabbit hole

Long, lazy Sunday: I am late with the Persian analysis and I apologize to those who were waiting for it. However, I do have an excellent excuse: I found myself unexpectedly engrossed in - hallelujah! can I say hallelujah? - Drums of Autumn, once I finally managed to be done with the very laborious first two chapters.

I continue to find the modern timeline slightly better written than most of the French shenanigans, for reasons I have already explained (yes, it is fiction, but the underuse of that particular trope left me hungry and not in a good way). The 1969 Boston episode (Moon landing included) can easily and will probably be among my favorites: it is short, lively and she does not go overboard with pedantry. Also, to my great surprise (or maybe also because the SS&RR tandem is so cataclysmic in the series), Brianna & Roger are (possibly) way better sketched and, overall, more interesting and endearing in the books. Fun fact: in my mind, they don't even look like the Painful Duo. But J&C look as S&C and whoever tells you otherwise did not watch the series and/or lies.

Unpopular opinion and I will probably get strong reactions to this: book Claire is, at times, insufferable to me. There are (mercifully) fleeting moments when I hear and almost see a poor travesty of Herself in her. If there is one person in this Universe who was ever able to masterfully round those edges and elevate Claire Elizabeth Beauchamp Randall Fraser to legend, well: that is (and I suspect it could only be) C.

Conversely, I once read on a Mordor blog something as idiotically enormous as "Jamie Fraser is, we all know it, a brute and Claire is the only person making him look human". This is Hate 101, transferred from the guy you spew on all day long to the character that guy decisively shaped and gave a destiny to, on screen. Writing such inanities lacks culture, taste and empathy. Jamie Fraser is a brute because he protects his family, whatever the costs? Is he a brute with a deep appreciation for the Greek and Roman Classics? Is he a brute just because he happens to be imagined and given life to in the 18th century Scottish Highlands, a place and time you obviously have no familiarity with, spare these books? And what about the other feminine influences in Jamie's life, that shape his unique sensitivity and understanding of the emotional needs of a 20th century woman, such as Claire? What about Ellen, Jenny, hey even the tiny (blink and you'll miss her) Annalise (dreadful name, Herself) de Marillac? I really pity you, woman. Really do.

All in all, I have no idea about what happened in LAX, other than the kilt apotheosis and the subsequent drooling, fainting and yelling that accompanied it. I still saw many young women in that crowd and I am cautiously betting for less drama, this time. But I do wonder why *urv never shows up at any event in the area, when the effort would be, for her, minimal. Things that make you go hmmm, once again.

Danmei and MXTX novels

Would you look at that, another post that's not about anime? WILD. It is about MXTX novels though so the hyperfixations continue. I'm actually in the process of planning a very lengthy analysis of all three of her series but this is a warning, don't expect too much. I was never good at those in school plus it's been almost 7 years since I've last written something like that but I feel so passionate about her works that I really wanna try to share what I thought about the novels. Nevertheless, this isn't actually those analysis posts since those are gonna be separate and will probably be written after I re-read each series. However, since I'm actually finally fully done reading all her series - including the extra side chapters - I wanted to quickly share some of my opinions and how I feel after finishing all 18 of the books.

This goes without saying but just in case - SPOILER WARNING for Heaven Official's Blessing, The grandmaster of demonic cultivation and The scum villain's self saving system novels.

First off, if you haven't read any of MXTX's work before, prepare for trauma and tragedy. Most of her characters are either deeply traumatised already or in the process of. I will always encourage people to read content warnings before reading her books.

Starting off with my favourite - TGCF or Tian Guan Ci Fu (aka Heaven Official's Blessing). This story means a lot to me. I got introduced to TGCF through the donghua before I even knew it was queer fiction and even with censorship, the closet is made of fucking GLASS so I had to look for the source material. Honestly it took me a while to commit to reading the whole series as I've been struggling to pick up books for years now but TGCF actually got me back into reading (I think in total it took me about 8 days to read all 8 volumes). More than just the story telling being good, I got so incredibly attached to every single character (except Jun Wu, he can eat shit - tho the fact I'm even saying this speaks volumes about how well MXTX can write characters. It takes a lot for me to hate a character this much).

Taking place in a beautiful fantasy world, we follow Xie Lian and Hua Cheng through tragic traumatic past and present and we learn of the horrible truths about the lives of immortal beings. We also see two idiots in love take their sweet ass time to confess. I love me a good slow burn full of longing and pining. I eat that shit UP every time and MXTX gave it to me with every single one of her series.

TGCF for me was a journey full of kicking my feet at fluff, second hand embarrassment (because xl I stg, what do you MEAN you were taught how to resist the advances of women but not how to resist hot men you gay lil shit the closet is made of glass) and honestly, lots of crying. The hundred stabs incident, ruoye's creation and hcg's last death made me sob and scream (no exaggeration, I was stomping around my room, crying and yelling GIVE HIM BACK RIGHT NOW).

Also, in a not so unpopular opinion (I think?), Pei Ming is my fave because 1) he's the no.1 Hualian shipper - check the whole Mt Tunglu adventure for proof and also 2) he's just a lil slut with a big heart. I could seriously talk about him forever because I went from hating him after he tried to throw the blame for the Banyue Pass incident on Xie Lian, to loving him after I realised that everything he does, he does because he is truly just a kind man who loves a good fight. He's so silly! Just a lil guy! Go Pei Ming go!

Fuck you Jun Wu. Again. (I hate him just as much as I hate Mahito. Maybe a little less. I really hate Mahito).

Moving on to my second favourite (but honestly it's such a close one), MDZS or Mo Dao Zu Shi (The grandmaster of demonic cultivation). Take a wild guess about how I got introduced to it... Fandom of course, because very few people talk about TGCF online without mentioning MDZS so I just had to give it a chance.

The great grandmaster of demonic cultivation has been dead for a while but when he gets gifted a new body through a not so well known demonic ritual, he runs into an old acquaintance. We learn about Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji's past and current world of cultivation and hear stories about messy betrayals and conspiracies. Aaaand we find out about some more trauma and tragedy because is it really an MXTX novel without it?

And talk about a rollercoaster because (and please don't hate me for this) I found Wei Wuxian annoying initially.... But it's okay now because I kin him so go figure. Tho I actually kin only his adult self, I was a very introverted and rule abiding teenager, a lil more like Lan Wangji. In any case, wwx is the same stupid chaotic bisexual that I am and he is babygurl. Yeah and what if he murdered 3000 people? It was self defense. THEY ATTACKED FIRST. Your honour, he did nothing wrong and he does not deserve to be punished!

On a serious note, MDZS explores so many themes that are personally important to me, my favourite being the power dynamics of the world. It’s truly moving that even with all the pain Wei Wuxian went through, how far in his cultivation and how powerful he got, he still couldn't protect those he loved (until Lan Wangji of course because Wangxian is perfect together and they always protect and defend each other. Wangxian my beloved). While it might be a stretch for some, it really reminded me of how powerless we are in the world. People aim to educate themselves and go on to do whatever they can to better the world in their own way and yet, it really feels like nothing’s improving sometimes. I could talk about this for hours but maybe I’ll leave that for another time and another analysis post since this is supposed to be a shorter one (lmao)

Last but not least, RZFZX or Ren Zha Fanpai Zijiu Xitong (honestly this one I use the english name for because I can’t pronounce the chinese as much as I try - The scum villain's self saving system or Svsss). This one I actually kinda struggled with - first of all because WHY BUGS MXTX. Not much bothers me in fiction but BUGS? Too far. Heads with spider legs? Raw flesh with maggots? Blood mites? I was out (for about half an hour and then I kept reading). Please note that it's not the raw flesh that bothered me, it was the fucking maggots. I can read about graphic murder, creepy hauntings, torture and many more but as soon as there are bugs? Nope! I’m done. People have phobias and that’s mine I guess. Enough ranting about bugs!

The story follows Shen Qingqiu, the scum villain of the hit web novel Proud Immortal Demon's Way (or PIDW for short, as it's referred to in Svsss) who is actually one of the original readers - and haters - of PIDW, who transmigrates into the book in order to fix the plot holes left by the original author. With his guide “the system” he does his best to lead the male lead of PIDW, Luo Binghe, down a better path than in the original story.

Svsss employs a comedic way of storytelling, with our protagonist being omniscient, it allows for the narration to be sarcastic and poke fun at a lot of moments that are cliche or badly written, as interpreted by sqq. Honestly, this is just a personal preference but I favour the more serious storytelling way of MDZS and TGCF (give me hurt until the very end when the main characters get together and then give me comfort).

To me, Svsss is a lot harder to analyse as a lot of its themes are unfamiliar to me, especially considering I’m the furthest from having any sort of humanitarian education (I have 2 engineering degrees). Using a story within a story, MXTX is able to deliver two main overarching themes; one about abuse and its results through Luo Binghe as well as one about the relationship of author and their readers, the feeling of being trapped by the readers' opinions and wanting your story to be liked through Shang Qinghua (to be honest, I hadn’t really picked up on this one until I saw discussion about this in the fandom).

If I'm being completely honest, I don't think I grasped this series as well as the other ones and I'm finding it hard to digest lbg and sqq's relationship. I'm unsure as to what it is that's holding me back from loving them as much as Hualian and Wangxian. I do tend to prefer tropes like theirs more than the whole "had to convince him to date me" thing which is what Bingqiu's relationship seemed like to me up until the end of volume 3. It’s also why I'm glad I actually followed through and finished the extras in volume 4 (I was really tempted to stop reading once I finished volume 3 not gonna lie). I believe those to be integral to understanding sqq's feelings towards lbh and while I understand that sqq did actually love lbh from the beginning (denial is a river in egypt and the gloset is made of glass - what the fuck is with MXTX's bottoms and the damn glass closet), I struggled to see the tipping point of where he actually understood his own feelings and what was going on in his head and that he was actually in love with lbh. Which is why I think to really understand Svsss, I would seriously need to reread it.

I also would love to eventually talk about queerness in MXTX's work because in each book, sexuality and queerness is explored and examined in so many different ways. As a queer person myself, it fascinates me as I can relate to so much of it. To be honest, I think I could write a short thesis on just this.

Honestly, while I'm very passionate about my favourite pieces of media (if you've heard me talk about any of my top 5 anime you'll understand what I mean), there hasn't been a lot of things outside JJK and MXTX's novels that have made me wanna dive deep into analysing every single detail. It genuinely makes me feel like I'm gonna implode sometimes. These 3 series have seriously reignited my love for reading. I was shown that a good book - in my opinion of course - doesn't need to avoid difficult topics. It simply needs to use them well as a means of delivering a message and a story, rather than them being included just to be included. They also reminded me that I love queer fiction and I need to read more.

I actually would really like to read Erha (or 2ha or The husky and his white cat shizun) but I've read the content warnings and I'm ~~apprehensive~~. While not a lot of things bother me, I'm not sure I want to read about that stuff (please look at the content warnings of this book, or any piece of media in that matter, especially if you have topics that easily bother or trigger you). Remember, it's our responsibility as readers/consumers to look out for ourselves first!

Please recommend any good danmei (other than MXTX) and possibly include links where they can be read! I would also highly appreciate recommendations for some good wlw fantasy fiction as I really would love to read some wlw novels - or even anime/movies/webtoons/manga. Just in desperate need of quality wlw content.

Also while I said I'd keep it short, it seems I ended up writing over 2000 words…

What made you ship it?

i don't know. listen - you may think i'm being oblique. but the fact is i heard about garashir LONG before i ever got into ds9, we're talking YEARS back; i can't even remember who i knew that shipped it, because it was just that long ago. i even tried reading a fanfic, though i can't remember what it was or even where it was, because this might have predated ao3. like even before i got into the show, something about that pairing Appealed To Me. and then, of course, i DID watch the show and Whoo Boy. i mean have you SEEN them interact. i think, honestly, what sealed the deal for me - what got be truly invested - was - well, for one thing, i tend to automatically rebel against relationships that the canon WANTS to happen; even if it's a relationship i end up liking it takes me a while to come around to it bc i'm so burned out on the vibe of "he was a guy, she was a girl, can i make it any more obvious?" that so many het romances get slapped with. i'm always looking for the characters that have the most chemistry (in my opinion) and goddamn call those bitches a science department because they have maybe the most chemistry of any two characters in that show. they challenge each other in the best way! and they just LIKE each other. what a novelty! i've got my fondness for the whole slap-slap-kiss trope, but god do shows and movies rely on it way too much these days, gag. so to have these two characters which, yeah, snip at each other sometimes, but very genuinely enjoy each other's company?? sublime. love it.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

well, i think i got into it a bit with the "they just like each other", but i think i especially like that garak liked julian right from the start. like oh, yeah, garak obviously had ulterior motives for approaching julian at first, but after that he just - continued to seek out his company! i've stated it a lot in my fics but just the fact that garak alone never seemed to find julian irritating when like everyone else on the station did, even if they came around to it - like i'm not one of those people that's like "the character you see yourself most in + the character you're most attracted to is your favorite pairing" bc i think it's bullshit, but as someone who is Very Annoying and is used to driving people away, oh god the idea of being just simply ACCEPTED by someone is like. a fuckin. drug. it's honestly probably the biggest reason i have trouble shipping julian with anyone else, even though i do enjoy his relationship with miles and i especially like writing him and kira becoming close in the later seasons. and, again, the fact that garak and julian do challenge each other, and they reflect one another in such interesting ways - and, of course, they are sooooooo normal about one another even in the context of a show that WASN'T writing them as romantically involved. 's good. 's a good ship.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

certainly it's not unpopular amongst the garashir girlies - but obviously i consider the idea that their relationship is at all "unhealthy" complete bullshit. like i made a whole post about it. genuinely i cannot even understand the mindset - other than, of course, because garak is a "bad man" (also something i disagree with, but whatever) he cannot have healthy relationships. he's "evil", so all of his relationships must be toxic. just lol. lmao, even. i think my most unpopular opinion is that i find it VERY hard to picture them hooking up early in the series and then having a relationship on the side. like it's not a deal-breaker in terms of fics, but just not my cup of tea, yanno? i think there's attraction and affection from the get, but i think PEAK garashir happens after ips/bil, and especially after dbip, when i feel like they'd've truly come to understand one another (as much as they need to, obviously; i think a big part of the garashir relationship is the idea that garak will always have secrets and julian is fine with that (is that why people think it's toxic?)). oh also i think people who shrink the age difference are cowards. they're both grown-ass adults! let them have their 20+ age gap! it's a charm point!

Percy Jackson and The Olympian's Season 1 vs The Lightning Thief.

Hi everyone,

I'm back again and planning on doing regular blog posts.

Now, since I've read a lot of Rick Riodran's books, I've decided to start my regular blog posting spree again, by doing a comparison to the TV series vs the books, whilst hoping that the books are better than the tripe that they called movies. And the Olympians and Nine Muses must have heard my prayers.

Now beware spoilers and a very long blog posts. In fact I might be finding out if Tumblr has a character limit.

Now I'm not going to go into too big a deal over character looks. This is more about comparing story events and characterization etc.

Series wide there's 3 things.

Percy's knowledge of myths: Now this one isn't too surprising nor is it unwelcome. In the books, Percy wasn't too knowledgeable about the Greek Myths he's end up fighting. Most of the time it's Annabeth or Grover etc, who explains things to him. The most he knew was about Perseus (his name sake).

Grover's abilities to smell monsters, and empathy: This one made less sense to me to cut out. Satyrs are sent out to gather demigods, cos like monsters they can smell them. And Grover seems to be the best out of all the Satyrs at doing just that. Some spoilers for Book 3, but he finds a couple more powerful demigods there. But Satyrs can also smell monsters in the books, unless they're underground (Underground air smells like Monsters). Satyrs are also capable of detecting emotions. In fact their psychic empathy talents play a big role in Book 2 Sea of Monsters.

Demigods understanding Ancient Greek: Again another alteration that doesn't make too much sense to me. But Greek Demigods have dyslexia because their brains are hard wired to understand Ancient Greek, but in the TV series that hasn't been mentioned yet. (Fun fact but the reason Rick Riodran wrote them like that was because his son was diagnosed with the double whammy of ADHD and dyslexia as well. Knowing his son would have a difficult time learning to read, Mr Riodran read to him Classical Myths to help him learn. When he ran out of stories, his son encouraged him to make up his own, and Mr Riodran gave them those 2 learning differences so they'd be like his son).

So the first episode is based on the first 4 chapters. Which more or less introduces Percy, and therefore you to the whacky magical world he's part of.

Now the sequence of events for both are:

Percy ends up vaporising his teacher, Mrs Dodds, aka the Fury (Or Kindly One) Alecto. He gets kicked out of his latest school, Yancy Academy. He goes back home. Goes to the beach cabin, in Montauk Long Island, NY with his Mum. Where during a storm, Grover shows up in full Satyr form and then the Minotaur shows up and chases the three of them, first in the car, then on foot when a lightning bolt blasts the car causing them to crash. Sally Jackson sacrifices herself trying to distract the Minotaur. And Percy kills it with it's own horn.

Some of the differences are:

Percy playing with Mythomagic cards. Okay I added this for laughs as in the books, Percy never played it. That was the obsession of Nico Di Angelo whose introduced in Book 3: The Titan's Curse. Though I do like that during that scene they kept the fact that Percy hates bullies with how he tried to go after some that messed with Grover. (Percy always was unpopular in schools as he befriends the outcasts).

Percy's other expulsions and odd things in childhood, which I assumed they left out for pacing, but Percy has been kicked out of every school he's ever been in. Yancy was his 6th school in as many years. Usually he got kicked out after something strange happens during a school trip, hence his nerves for the Yancy trip to the museum. Highlights from the books include: Some how blowing up his school bus with a civil war cannon, hitting the wrong lever on a catwalk, so his class got dunked into the shark tank during a visit to an aquarium. Strangling a snake in his cot at nursery, and a cyclops stalking him on a playground.

Also Percy got to keep his sword, Anaklusmos (Ancient Greek for Riptide) a lot sooner, and also isn't named in the TV series. In the TV series he was given the pen after his pencil breaks in the museum. Another side note, I love how they showed his dyslexia there, and he kept it since. But in the books, he was thrown the sword during Mrs Dodd's attack, and Chiron reclaimed it afterwards. He wouldn't give the sword properly and permanently until Percy goes on his quest.

Mrs Dodds attack is a bit different in the show as well, as she just straight up pounces Percy as soon as he accidently uses his hydrokinetic powers to pull a bully, Nancy Bobfit into the nearby fountain after taunting him telepathically (something that monsters seem able to do here). But in the books, after she witnessed it, she lures him into the museum first. Also there's no telepathy, but she just demands that Percy returns what he stolen. Percy, who of course nicked nothing and knows nothings, is confused and then terrified when Mrs Dodds' attacked, and then Chiron throws him the sword.

Also the attack happened during the spring time in the books. And was actually the start of a difficult time for Percy in school, as Chiron had tried to fool him with the Mist, like the other mortals, but Percy had started to awaken to his heritage, and could remember it. He might have accepted the fact he was hallucinating except for the fact that Grover is a terrible liar, and would flinch whenever Mrs Dodds is brought up. So Percy started picking fights and acting out in class in the books, out of the stress and fear of that incident until the headmaster expelled him near the end of term. In the tv series, it was just for shoving Nancy into the fountain, which Grover stitched him up for, so he'd get sent to Camp Half-Blood before the attacks get worse.

So the three old ladies knitting the socks of death straight up don't show up here. They show up in a later episode. But here, that's one of the reasons that Percy ditched Grover in the books. As the two of them, on the bus ride back to Manhatten, spot the Three Fates themselves. Percy, of course, doesn't know what that means, but Grover does and freaks out when Percy witnesses the Fates or Moirai (specifically Atropos) cut the thread of life. The reason for Grover freaking out is because what Percy just witnessed was an omen of death. But Grover's freaking out meant that Percy ditched him at the bus station to go home alone. Which led to the following events.

So coming home, not much difference there, except Smelly Gabe is definitely unemployed and earns through online gambling, instead of being a manager of an electronics store and not going to work. Also Sally Jackson is more explicit in standing up to him. In the books although she's still stubborn (she does keep her maiden name in both) but she charms and persuades Smelly Gabe.

Not much changes about the Minotaur attack. The storm in the books arrives in the night as a freak hurricane, which was mentioned a few times as a series of odd weather phenomena that mortals noticed but was due to the fighting between Zeus and Poseidon. And Sally wasn't planning on sending Percy to Camp Half-Blood just yet, she was considering whether or not to try another boarding school as sending Percy to camp might mean she'll never see him again. In the TV series, she obviously was and Grover's arrival was a surprise to her as he came EARLY. But other than that the chase sequence plays out the same until the crash, as Grover was knocked out in the books. So he got to witness the fight, first between Sally and the Minotaur, and then Percy killing it. But in the books, Percy didn't have a weapon. The storm had boosted his strength so he could break the horn straight off, and use it to stab the monster. In the TV series he uses the sword first, then the horn. Finally in the aftermath in the books, Percy dragged the unconscious Grover to the Big House in camp. In the TV series, the campers came out to find him and Grover collapsed on the ground.

YES YES YES YES LET ME TALK ABOUT MOB PSYCHO

Favorite Thing About Him: his moral compass. No matter what happens to him he sticks to his conviction. He falters in moments, which is normal, he's young, but in the end he comes right back and stands with his morals.

Least Favorite Thing: gullible. But he's a kid in a manga/anime so I can't fault him at all. He gets less gullible as the series goes too.

brOTP: Mob and Hanazawa (Teru), Teru was the first person Mob ever encountered who also had psychic powers and it was the other way around, too. I think they should rely on each other to learn how to live with and around their psychic powers.

OTP: I actually don't ship Mob with anyone, Tsubomi is pretty much the only option. I've seen a lot of stuff for Terumob and I think it's cute, but I don't think Mob would ever like Teru like that. If anything it's a puppy crush on Teru's end that never gets brought up.

nOTP: I've seen the mob/reigen. I hate it. Stop fucking doing that.

Random Headcanon: He continues to hang out with the Body Improvement club after he graduates. They have like, weekly training sessions. They're his friends for fucking life. I'd cry if they end up separated.

Unpopular Opinion: Reigen isn't his dad. If anything he's a weird and estranged older brother. Maybe an uncle, for that extra degree of separation. Either way, Reigen just ended up being A Guy In His Life that he happened to look up to and respect. Their bond is strong but it's not familial.

I gotta say Hector. He's just such a complicated character and I love how he is an antagonist (not a bad guy!). Plus his undying loyalty and unique character design are other great qualities of him as well!

I HC Quirin is the oldest simply because he seems the most mature to me.

I HC that Hector is the youngest, but only by like a year. I don't really have a specific reason why, just my gut feeling.

Ooh, this is a hard one...I would think some kind of bird. I imagine she'd like a companion that could travel easily with her, but can also be independent without her.

Some post series HC's I have are Hector, Adira, & Quirin having a good moment together (having lived through that finale!). Also that Quirin and Varian visit the DK frequently to help them out and visit their family. Also Edmund finally having a good talk with the Brotherhood and expressing his gratitude to them.

Pre series HC's would be Hector having a partner he was dedicated to, but left for his assignment to the Great Tree. It's just something I can see him doing and I like the angst of it haha.

I HC that the Brotherhood met as orphans that got trained. They all had talents as warriors so they got promoted to the Brotherhood.

In my fic I've named Hector's bear cats Nyx and Delia. For reference, Delia is the nicer of the two (and the one that let Shorty on her back on the Great Tree episodes) and Nyx is more defensive and harder to befriend.

I think all three of the Brotherhood have dated each other at some point. Also that them being an OT3 is a big possibility.

I do think they should continue the Brotherhood, but change their purpose. Until the DK is restored, they need an elite force to help out with getting the DK back on its feet. After that it could be more of a ceremonial thing or a way to pass down traditions rather than be an actual fighting force.

Honestly ANYTHING. I'm still upset they hardly interacted with one another. -.-

Soon after I finished the series. When I started looking for fanart I found Pennumbra, Mo, & Xannerz's art and it was all downhill from there.

I really like a lot of Pennumbra's HC's about Hector, especially from his time in the Great Tree. Just the idea of him being out like that and alone for so long and how it would have affected him. It really fascinates me. Specifically, after getting back to civilization how he would struggle to eat sweets or anything with a lot of flavor.

Ben 10 adds a lot more aliens than explores or diversify them. As many have very identical or not so relevant powers and this leads to unpopularity and the problem of favoritism.

Ultimate Alien has a opening with every alien featured in the franchise until that moment, and the only ones that appeared were the aliens featured in UAF and a few from the classic series. Omniverse improved on this concept, highlighting formerly abandoned aliens and creating aliens that are mostly more diverse, but still misses.

Why would I use Fasttrack if XLR8 is faster? Or why Eatle and not Upchuck? Why use Murk Upchuck if I prefer the Perk? Echo Echo is much better than Ditto and Frankenstrike and Shocksquatch are practically the same thing, the electric strong guy. In-universe it makes sense for many species to develop similar powers or have subspecies, but out-of-universe it's redundant. They should at least have a different approach instead of being another alien, but better or worse.

If Ultimate Alien focused on creating new Ultimates or improving poorly designed ones instead of adding redundant aliens, it would be better. I think with the exception of the Andromeda five and Clockwork, Ultimate Alien didn't need to add new aliens. Theme is the Ultimate Aliens, the focus should be on them.

The Halloween trio is the definition of what I'm saying.

Crew statements, especially the ones published years after the show ended should not be treated as canon.

Original Ben 10 universe is an inconsistent mess, full of retcons and contradictions, and this is why I would rather see another reboot than continuation of Omniverse. Not only that, but also Ben having full controll over Alien X completelly removes any stakes.

While I am not the biggest fan of Ben and Gwen having alien ancestors, I usually do not mind AF making everything about aliens, as they should'be been the main focus from the start.

Original idea for Bezel being a civilisation rather than a person was more interesting.

While I love it's design, I feel like Feedback was unnecessarry addition to the series and him being such an important alien for Ben felt kinda shoehorned in, considering that he was never mentioned before UAF.

Alien Force's original 10 new aliens were too OP.

I do not mind useless aliens, such as Walkatrout, as their existance reinforces the notion that Omnitrix is not a weapon.

Aggregor was one of the coolest villains.

Ragnarok is also an underrated villain, and his rivalry with Kevin should've been developed more (and it would probably stronger establish Kevin's new backstory, making it harder for OV to rewrite it).

Kevin should've only mutated twice, in OS and in UA, all his other mutations felt unnecessary.

"Blitzwolfer" is a really stupid name, and it basically wasted a perfect opportunity to give Benwolf some proper name, for the sake of making a bad joke.

Ben's powers are probably overestimated by fandom.

I am not a fan of 5YL, mainly because the entire idea of it being a cross-over just makes it too obvious that I what I am reading is a fanfiction. Also I find the reason as to why Ben does not use Alien X to be nonsensical.

Overflow is cooler than Water Hazard.

UAF Fourarms was the best one designwise.

I do not mind OV and OS giving clothes to every alien.

Black-and white suits from Original Series looked better than the green ones from OV. Also I am not a fan of all the aliens having green eyes.

Tom Holland shouldn't be casted as Ben, if another live-action version will be made.

I absolutelly hate the idea of Omnitrix turning it's user into a "perfect member of a species".

While I love Kevin's redemption arc in UAF, I also wouldn't mind him staying a villain

The Forever Knights are one of the most dangerous antagonists, the only reason why they keep losing against Ben, Gwen and Kevin is because those three are insanely powerful.

Darkstar is one of the most evil characters in the entire series, Vilgax is a conqueror and a Warlord, Dr Animo is insane, Charmcaster is mentally unstable, but Darkstar is straight up rotten to the core, not sure if this is a hot take or not because I don't see people talk about Darkstar often.

Ben 10 needs to be slightly darker in my opinion, I don't mind it being light-hearted but there's too much of it and not enough dark, the only episode where Ben 10 went really dark was in Catch A Falling Star, which I enjoyed.

1. Either get rid of the mistransformation gimmick or make Ben the sort of character not obsessed with using brute strength aliens all the time. Both of these together make the show really stale, as it means Ben has to keep re-learning to use all his aliens while being the same naïve jerk all the time. If Alien Force S12 Ben had to deal with mistransformations I wouldn't mind because he clearly had the smarts and maturity to adapt to them without a cheesy "Oh maaaan!"

2. Most of Ben's one-liners in OS were painfully annoying and make it really hard to re-watch.

3. Even though I love them all, I think the Alien Force roster of transformations was a bit too strong, making them feel not as diverse. Omniverse had a very different issue- too many aliens that only relied on brute strength for attack.

1. Ben X Kai can work, they just didn't explore it well enough.

2. Gwen and Kevin not being main characters in Omniverse is pointless when they appear so often anyways.

3. The Ultimatrix is cool but is the worst watch design.

4. Ben not being able to beat a specific character does not make him a bad character.

5. Whilst fluid in terms of animation. Omniverse's art style was a jarring shift from what came before and would have worked better for the Reboot's version of UAF.

Alien X is so fucking overrated and every topic involving him is toxic

Ben can't turn into the most powerful universe destroyer saiyan ever and one shot Goku

Fusion aliens are boring, Ben 10K also boring

AF Vilgax is bad but as bad as Omniverse

Diamondhead beating Vilgax was stupid and i consider it a PIS feat

All Malware and Feedback plots feels forced and i never cared for them

1. AF is my least favorite (it has some good episodes but I don’t really care about the whole Hybrid arc, just not willing to watch every episodes but just the War of Worlds 1/2). It has some of my favorite aliens but I just don’t find AF as entertaining compared to the other shows and won’t really watch the show as a whole. Only a few episodes, I would watch that I like.

2. Most of the franchise is being carried by its concepts with most of its execution... Eh. Amazing concepts with eh/okay executions, it's filling with such potential but there so many big/little things holding it back (IMO, the good outweighs the bad but it's where I can't ignore the bad stuff and is sticking out a lot).

3. The best thing that Classic has offer was “Secret” and “Back With a Vengeance” (simply, in one word: Vilgax). And I don’t like how only 2/3 of episodes focus on Zs'skayr in Classic (with “Ghostfreak Out”, being at least top 10 favorite Classic episodes, and every other Zs'skayr theme episode just never went as well afterward) and I think Zs'skayr as a villain is kinda overrated.

4. My favorite episode from the whole Dagon arc was “Solitary Alignment” even though the arc kinda sucks imo.

5. Idk if this is a hot take, but I think the whole Prey and Predator arc (especially in season 1) was executed very well. And I love all of the alien predator designs!

6. I despise the “glitch powers” stuff made by DJW like Jetray going into hyperspace and/or Diamondhead levitating crystals. They were so cool, why to remove them? :(

My Unpopular Opinions on Monster High

I got the inspo from @/mad._.dollz on Tik Tok and Instagram, who does a series of a similar name, and I thought I'd share some of mine (some of you might feel the same too). Please be respectful of the following, for these are my opinions on some of the stuff!

Gil Webber is not and never was a bad romantic match for Lagoona (I'm just tired of people complaining, and the guy had racist parents. Of course, there are some things he felt uncertain about, but Gil genuinely cared about Lagoona and making her happy mattered to him!)

Toralei is NOT a villain! Is she an antagonist due to her bullying? Yes. But a villain? No. She never did anything that jeopardized the monsters' lives (and consider the times she's been nice to them too!)

Lagoona is 100% allowed to have glamorous looks/outfits, even if she's more known for her sporty style/personality (ex: Dawn of the Dance, which is widely a fan favorite Lagoona doll)

C.A. Cupid deserved more time (and dolls) at Monster High. Nothing bad about her Ever After High transfer, but I just wish we had more character background/development of Cupid before she moved schools.

Jackson x Clair is a pairing/ship that makes no sense to me (they had very little interactions, and her kissing Jackson at the end of Ghouls Rule! always bothered me) And I'm not saying all this because I prefer Jackson x Frankie.

Gen 2 had a lot of good elements in it (read this post here for most to all the stuff I liked from the first reboot)

Boo York, Boo York was a somewhat underwhelming film of the franchise. Sure, I liked the main plots, but several characters weren't utilized well enough, some of the subplots felt a bit sloppy, and one subplot was completely scrapped, and I would've loved to see how that played out.

Ari Hauntington is actually a pretty good character (premise wise). I didn't feel like she was a full-on Spectra replacement, but I like how she's a pop star and can make herself appear solid.

I preferred Venus and Rochelle's voices in Gen 2 over Gen 1. I felt like Venus' G2 voice fit her character more, and I personally just like how sweet-sounding Rochelle's G2 voice was more than her Gen 1 voice.

Lagoona having a different skin color other than blue is completely valid. Yes, her last name is Blue, but if you recall in the past, not all of Lagoona's family members had blue skin. A notable example is her little sister Kelpie, who has purple skin.

I like that Clawdia's dolls had a sculpted grin as opposed to the other characters having a neutral looking expression. It really reflected the type of personality she had, which makes her a very unique doll.

The werewolf dolls of Gen 1 (like Clawdeen) should've had sculpted fur on the wrists and ankles like the Gen 2 dolls. It was mentioned that the characters are confirmed to have fur, and it would've been nice to see it on their dolls (Mouscedes and Marisol were the only Gen 1 dolls I can think of that had sculpted fur)

Mouscedes' doll was actually very cute. She was one of my favorites out of the Boo York characters, and I wish she had more love from the fans.

G1 Spectra's voice should sound a bit different/normal considering all the other ghost characters don't talk the same way she does. Don't get me wrong, the voice itself is fine, but knowing Spectra was the only ghost character to have a whisper-y and "ooOOOoooO" voice while the rest didn't talk that way felt VERY off-putting.

Hello my Tumblr friends I wanted to talk about movie stars I was watching the babysitter if any of you know what the babysitter is it’s a movie on Netflix and it’s crazy as fucking shit bro like damn that shit was so fucking nuts. I was watching it and I’ve figured out like the first movie was funny

The first movie was really really funny if I will be honest with you about Cole and the babysitter that he has and her name is B and you know if she calls them see if they do this so cute little thing with their fingers and it’s really cute but what happens is is that you know few spoilers up ahead is there’s some crazy stuff that happens. He gets told by his friend Melanie to stay up late at night to see what his babysitters doing because maybe she’s smashing somebody maybe she’s fucking somebody maybe they’re having an orgy And so like he’s like what’s an orgy he’s a very innocent kid and so what happens. Is that you know he stays up and he watches his babysitter and you know that they’re kind of doing regular teenage things or spinning a bottle and they’re playing truth or dare and you know the babysitter gets dared to kiss everybody in the group which is John, Max, Allison, Sonia, and John and so what happens is you know she kisses them all Allison she had she had a most sexual kiss with which makes sense for Allison being the most hottest girl in the group and Sonya kind of looks like an IMO girl and she looks pretty punk rock and we kind of figure out that out in the second movie and stuff like that and so it’s so cool to me and then the last guy name Samuel who’s a nerd that she’s been trying to you know get together with an invited she kisses him then she stops kissing him and starts stabbing him in the fucking brains. I was surprised he wasn’t dead yet like damn motherfucker was literally like his brain was stabbed. He wasn’t dead until they squeezed all of the blood out of him like how how does that work, I did I expect a lot thanks. They put it in a cup. They had like all that stuff and what they were meant to do was get the blood of a sacrifice in the blood of an innocent for a devil worshiper thing and I’m not going to really continue that much because the rest of it is colons and passing out because they try to get to the blood of an innocent which is Cole, Cole is a very innocent kid. He doesn’t know what an orgy is. 1. Who is your favorite brotherhood member and why?

God, choosing is HARD because I like them all for their own reasons!!! I guess I'd have to say Adira, but that might just because we got to see her the most, so she got the most development?

Edmund. I don't have like, exact age headcanons for them, but I just kinda assumed Edmund was the oldest? With Quirin as second oldest (Though if we wanna take some dubiously canon stuff, I think Vedis might be older than them both, but I don't really care about him tbh lmao)

Hector, I feel like that's kinda predictable lol. But even he's in his 40's

5. If Adira had an animal companion, what animal should it be?

I could totally see her with some kind of lizard! Like a kimono dragon or smth and Rapunzel would be like "OMG YOU HAVE A LIZARD TOO!!" and Adira would be like "please don't touch hi- oh" while Rapunzel already has the big guy rolled over on his back kicking his leg like a happy dog while she rubs his tummy <3

6. What are some post series headcanons you have?

I like to think that after everything, Varian and Eugene are actually really interested in learning more about The Brotherhood and The Dark Kingdom! Varian because he's just always excited to learn stuff, and Quirin is glad to finally be able to talk about such a big part of his past, and just finally being able to introduce his old friends to his son! Eugene is less enthusiastic at first, especially with just how clingy Edmund is and is constantly like "GUYS LOOK THIS IS MY SON! MY REAL SON!" and they're like yes Edmund we know you said that seven times in the past hour lmao. But Eugene's always had an interest in knowing where he came from, and even as a kid he was writing stories in his head about what his parents and life would have been like, so now that he can actually learn those answers, he's pretty excited about it!

7. What are some pre series headcanons you have?

I don't think they were all inherently super close to each other. Like, they talked sometimes just because proximity, and maybe had a few similar interests, but it wasn't until closer to the time the kingdom fell and they were all realizing they were the last existing members of the brotherhood that they actually felt close to each other.

8. Who do you think would be better with kids?

I think it would depend on the kid, lmao. But I think they'd all be good with kids in their own way!! Quirin and Adira are more patient (though Adira would absolutely teach a toddler how to hold a knife) because kids are LITTLE HUMANS who are STILL LEARNING!! Edmund would try his darndest to be relatable, which I'm sure works great with kids, but less so with teenagers lmao. Hector says he hates kids, but he's actually pretty good with them, though he would pick a toddler up by the leg and go "who's baby is this" sdkfjhjkf He's more of a cool babysitter than the type to ever actually be a parent.

Oh god I don't think I thought about things THAT far back. I just assumed they met in the dark kingdom at some point and went with that

I never thought about this either, but I do think it's funny to imagine that, while his binturongs are actually his homies, the rhino was just smth he found faster than he found a horse SOMEHOW, and he just needed a mount sdjkfhjks I will think on this tho. Binturong names. My impulse is something stupid like Fluffy and Boogers, but I think Hector is classier than that lmao

I like to think the Brotherhood was a much BIGGER group when the Dark Kingdom was in it's prime, but after everything, I think they'd be happy keeping it a small thing just for them

11. What is a major change (rewrite) that you would make to the canon?

Hector. My guy showed up in one (1) episode and then went "welp, I've been defeated. Guess I can't do anything about the strangers trying to steal the relic I was desperately trying to protect just one episode ago. I'll just have to chill uselessly in the forest until I'm needed for the plot again."

It would've been SO FUN if Hector continued to chase them down until the very end. We could've had a "Team Rocket"-esque kind of episodes with him, where he shows up to try to destroy them, is defeated, and they escape. That would've honestly been a BILLION times more entertaining to me than like 3 episodes in Tromus' place, plus it would've given us a really more interesting finale AND we would've gotten to see more of Adira, because if Hector continuously tried to chase them down through the mid-final episodes of the season, Adira would most likely travel with them to be ready to defend them whenever Hector showed up.

12. What is the biggest loose end or question that you still have?

Demanitus and Zhan Tiri's relationship.

Canon offered us a really contradictory story of them, where in one episode we hear Demanitus himself say "my pupils betrayed me and summoned the Great Demon Zhan Tiri" and in the finale, we see Zhan Tiri herself say in their flashback that "this quest for the Sundrop and Moonstone was both of ours", so... Which one was it?! Were you immediately enemies or were you partners?! Or did Demanitus initially believe Ziti was evil (assuming his pupils did betray him and summon her behind his back), only to convince her (or be convinced by her) to look for the Drops together... Only to act surprised when the literal demon did morally bad things and then did a 180, pretended he was a perfect little angel who would never ally himself to a literal demon, and sent her off to acid hell?

TELL ME. WHAT WAS IT?! WHAT HAPPENED, SHOW?

13. Would you want a TTS spinoff? If yes, what would it be about?

I don't think TTS would ever get a spin-off considering TTS itself is already a spin-off in a way, but I'd love to see Zhan Tiri and Demanitus' journey until the finale when he sends her away!! We'd get well-deserved lore on both of them (as well as clarification, finally!), as well as more insight on Gothel's motivations and past, and finally some focus on Sugracha and Tromus !!!!

23. Share an unpopular opinion about the show or the characters.

Most of the time I walk into a fic, I'm already biased. There's a select few characters I love so much I'm willing to ignore all their wrongs, and a few characters I hate so much I'm willing to amplify every little wrong thing they do by 1.000.000x. Varian, Rapunzel and Cassandra are often beloved by everybody and put into that former category I described, but for me it's a little different:

Cassandra is one of the characters I truly hate. The only characters I hate more than I hate Cassandra are Frederic and Demanitus, but even then it's by a very thin line. Rapunzel and Edmund come in a little more softly in my hatred scale, but I'm still very biased towards them and am unwilling to feel anything truly good about them unless they prove themselves worthy in the particular work I'm reading.

Regarding Cassandra: if she were to die, I'd say "Good riddance!", Because you really can't pin most of the things she did in season 3 on "Ziti's manipulation". Cassandra chose to nearly kill Calliope. Cassandra chose to Mindtrap the Brotherhood. Cassandra chose to attack Corona, even though she had absolutely zero reason to do so. Cassandra has been a true Frederic-level dickhead during the entirety of season three, and the fact she didn't receive a single, even minor punishment in the end, all because she apologized to Rapunzel, is ridiculous.

Of course there are exceptions to this "rule", but I always walk into fics with this bias of mine. There is not a single Frederic nor a single Demanitus I actually like, although Edmund, Rapunzel and Cassandra often "redeem" themselves in my eyes in a few select works. Most of the time though, they could die and I would not care less. Good riddance, pricks.

Shadow (Sk8 the Infinity) for the Character Ask game

Since I am currently home with a sick kiddo (not Covid, thank goodness, but he's still pretty miserable), and we are watching Sk8, I thought this was the perfect time to answer @neutronstarchild's other ask for the Character Ask game: Shadow from Sk8 the Infinity! Shadow is such a delightful, underrated character, and I'm very excited to get to talk about him a little bit--thank you, Neutron dear, for indulging my love of this series! Here we go...

Favorite thing about them

When you first watch Sk8, it really seems like Shadow is going to be the villain; he beats Reki in the first race we see, he's mouthy, and looks more like an evil Gene Simmons than a good guy. But he not only allows Reki (and subsequently the rest of the gang) to adopt him, he's also genuinely concerned about the boys and wants to help Langa beat Adam. Even though he complains about being "a babysitter," you get the feeling there's nowhere else he'd rather be. We all know you have a heart of gold under there, Shadow--if only your manager at the flower shop could see it, too!

Least favorite thing about them

That even after Reki, Langa, and Miya (and, by default, Joe and Cherry) adopt Shadow, he continues to use his homemade bombs and other devices against other skaters--in particular, Cherry during the beach episode. Like, come on, dude, is it such a part of your repertory that you can't beat others without it? That does make you a little bit like Adam (even if you say not even you are as bad as he is)...

Favorite line

Basically anytime Shadow articulates his age for us, I crack up. In particular, when Reki calls him an "old man," Shadow protests, "I'm only 24!" You have an old soul, Shadow--you need to own it 😅

Miya, definitely. They are a mad level of sass together, and I really enjoy watching them interact--especially when they team up to help their friends when they are training to beat Adam.

OTP

Shadow deserves a chance to be with his manager! He's so sweet, and tries so hard to be a man worthy of her, when really, she should be a woman worthy of him. (See random headcanon for more)

Random headcanon

Miya, Reki, and Langa realize that Shadow is crushing on his manager hard. They do a little recon and realize that the man who comes by the shop isn't her boyfriend; they went out on a couple dates but it's nothing series. The three of them work together to fix Shadow up with his manager; turns out, she thinks he's pretty sweet, and Shadow is the happiest man ever, and every time he's mean to the boys, they remind him just how much of a role they played in getting Shadow together with his true love, and he grumbles, but he's secretly really happy about it and buys them all the burgers they want (and protein shakes for Miya).

Unpopular opinion

This one is tough! I don't know...I think I would have liked to see a race between Shadow and Adam. Adam would probably win, but I think it would have been really good for us to get to see that. I understand we needed the Reki/Adam race, but WOW it would have been fun to see this.
