Hi friend! Saw your IG post & wondered what stats/qualifications a book needed to make the NYT bestselling list (sorry, I’m unfamiliar with book publishing lingo so hopefully you’ll know what I mean by stats)? I tried Googling, & Google’s result said one needed to sell 5-10k copies, sell from diverse retailers, & from multiple geographic locations. Is that accurate? If so, would you be able to have an idea prior to book launch week if you might make it? I remember you said you can see where the majority of books were being sold for book tour purposes.

Based on your follower number & where all of us are located, combined with the incredible writing quality of your captions/blog, I have major good feelings about your success!!

Hi friend! This all seems about right from my knowledge as well. The thing especially is diverse retailers and individual orders (bestsellers seem to flag multiple copies in a single order as "one" copy).

There's a great rule of thumb is the author knows things last lol.

I actually have zero line of sight into how many books are sold let alone where they are sold. You might be confusing my location knowledge with the recent response form I asked TSSers to submit to for possible additional tour dates (in case you missed it, that form is HERE). I only have that data because it's a Google Form I created so, naturally, I can see all the responses. But when it comes to big sales data of the book, my publisher has that. Authors don't usually see anything which is very funny but true. We're often the last to know and often get surprised by things. Like today I found out I'm in a Costco flyer?!?!?!? I had no idea my publisher was doing that.

Minimum quantities are also a sliding scale because it really depends on who you're up against that given sales week in your genre. You could sell 20,000 copies in a week but if authors 1-10 sell 20,001+ copies then you're not on the list. Which is why I mentioned September and October being exponentially more difficult to land on bestseller lists because they're usually the busiest times of the year for big books.

It's hard because I feel caught between the millennial mindset of "asking for your wishes means it won't come true" / "if it's meant to be, it will" / "you're going to jinx it!" and the more modern mindset of "speaking truth to your goals" / "power of manifestation" / being open and transparent about your desires to plant the seeds. And then there's of course the Anxiety Goblin in my brain that says, "What makes you think you're even worthy of that? What gives you the right to think people would want to help you?"

But I made a decision in January to make my word of the year be "trust". Trusting in people to be vulnerable. Trusting in people to be helpful and supportive and kind and generous. Trust just enough to let people in and see you and hopefully they'll like what they see. The funniest thing of all of this is that even though I'm trying to put this into practice this year, I can't believe as a listener of Taylor Swift for as long as I have that I never thought that the rules of emotional openness and vulnerability creating a bridge to connection with people would also apply to someone like me. But that's been my experience so far this year because every time I crack my heart open just a tiny bit ... you guys answer in the kindest and most generous of ways.

Hi guys! As promised to that Anon, I wrote the timelines. I decided to write only the key points though because these are things we already know, and then, I’m sure there are more than a thousand proofs around and people who have already spoken about it. Enjoy.

That same night at the party, Typecast accepted the management’s proposal.

Typo tweeted “LMJ” on January 4, 2017, and then immediately deleted it. First move to create speculation since, presumably, Lauren ‘was’ still with Ludicrous. Shortly thereafter, a blind item about L who was having an affair with a married man came out. On January 10, 2017, Nicole Cartolano posted that picture of Laucy in the snow with a piñata. After wishing her a happy birthday, as we already know, luBYE. On February 13, 2017, there were the first PRren pictures at the Grammy after-party, so that people would start believing the blind item, BUT, making it clear that he wasn’t a married man, but a taken one, and yes, MAN, since Tyred is 14 years older than her, and therefore inculcating the idea that L was really cheating on Luggage. On March 9, 2017, Tymbal posted a picture of them together, coincidentally, the day after he advertised his upcoming album ‘Beach House 3’.

On March 22, 2017, we had ‘Bare With Me’ and Nicole Cartolano’s interview with MTV News. On the 23rd, we had, still very coincidentally and totally unplanned, “no I hate it because it’s invasive, scary, delusional, disrespectful to us both and was never real…Ever”, because, because, SHE DECIDES. NOT US. PERIOD. (sorry, I had to 😂. This is another of L’s tweets dating back to July 2, 2017: “I decide. Not you. Period.”) Joking apart, because she was single and she certainly couldn’t let the fans have hope for her and C, so she tried to kill the Camren ship for the umpteenth time. “Hey, hey, Lo, how’d it go? That bad, eh?” “Let me try again in 2020.” “Laur, babe, I’ll tell you what. I’m from the future, okay? It didn’t work, honey. And I don’t think it’s gonna work either in, I don’t know, in 2030.”

The day before Nicole’s MTV article and eight days later, Twix posted a series of tweets (21: “Lo” - 30: “You look better on me 👀”, Cuban flag, and “I think she like me 😍”) [👈🏼 ‘Great grammar’ said in Lauren’s voice] which he then of course deleted to make everything more and more mysterious, and thus making people connect and figure out who was that ‘LMJ’ tweeted in January. On April 14, 2017, we had a picture of L with TyPod and his family dating back the night before when they celebrated Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’s birthday, followed by the blurred picture of the 15th of them together at Coachella. On April 18, 2017, Alycia Bella, Tinky Winky’s ex, tweeted “when you get cheated on w a 5th harmony member & all you can do is laugh.”, and then immediately deleted it, thus giving even more confirmation to people that both had cheated, despite Teletubbies denied and defended himself: “been moved on :) no cheating. Keep it Taylor’d. gang gang 🤘🏽🤘🏽”. The same Alycia who complained of being cheated on by Telly for ‘another girl’ during the reality show ‘The Platinum Life’ which aired on October 15, 2017 and that was recorded MONTHS BEFORE.

There were other tweets that Tyronic continued to tweet and then delete (April 1: “I think about you all the time” - April 3: “You my favorite” and “I don’t know what I did to deserve you” - April 7: “Really like what you’ve done to me”), Insta-stories and posts by both, and other public appearances together to increase the public’s curiosity. Such as: 1) Mani’s birthday. 2) August 16, 2017, when 5H did that famous and messy phone interview with The Sun for Dan Wooton’s podcast, one of Salmoned Cow’s well-known puppies friends, during which Dan asked Lauren about his relationship with Twinkly and she replied that they were just vibing. 3) Lauren’s birthday. 4) On September 11, 2017, Lauren posted pictures about the FentyxPuma party, and in one of those posts with pictures of her and Troglodyte, she put the caption with three hearts emojis, thus confirming to people that she and Tipsy were together.

February 2017 was the chosen month for Pukeren to ‘become’ official, confirmed by Typed in an interview at the Power 105.1 FM morning show The Breakfast Club on October 31, 2017, though, so a long time later and when the waters had already calmed down. By saying February, Tyring confirmed the cheatings exactly as it was planned. In another interview with BigBoyTV made on November 2, 2017, Typology showed the interviewees how even the background of his phone was a picture of Lauren. Picture that, by the way, Lauren herself posted 21 days before that by wearing Tijuana’s merchandise sweatshirt, so not even a personal picture that you’d normally expect to see from a real boyfriend.

Let’s move on to competitor number two: Maturely Hushed Matthew Hussey, 06/19/1987. The scammer par excellence (since 2012). The salesman who pretends to be a life coach/dating advice expert by deluding poor women who fall into his bullshit. The charlatan who has an infinity of fraud charges and even a restraining order for stalking and harassment by a woman named Samantha C. of San Diego. [this woman continually talked about the situation on her Instagram account, cheating_matthewhussey. Even Chelsea Briggs liked a picture.]

Ewmila Mattmila: The skit was supposed to start a lot sooner in reality. They ‘met’ for the first time on September 29, 2017, on the set of NBC’s Today show (performance that C dedicated to the Dreamers), but nobody has heard much about it, right? There was only a single Billboard article that did that. Following that meeting, it was supposed to start in October 2017, when they also started to follow each other on IG, but everything was postponed because C’s album was postponed. The album was released on the 12th, and by pure coincidence, on January 11th, 2018, during the interview with Elvis Duran, and COMPLETELY OUT OF THE BLUE, C mentioned Matilda for the first time by saying she was a fan of his. The same Mattress (10 years older than her) who coincidentally was there that day, so a setup for the public to make believe that they’d met that day.

The next day, at the release of the album ‘Camila’, C performed at Good Morning America, and Macaque, again by pure coincidence, had a small slot in the same program. On January 15, 2018, during the interview with Zane Lowe, when he asked if she had someone special in her life at that time, she replied with “maybe”, which was a big yes when she read “I can’t say your name without smiling” just before from her phone notes. On January 22, 2018, on Zach Sang Show, C said that she’s a private person and that she doesn’t like the ‘public thing’ since the Austin fiasco. Another bullshit said to make the public believe that it was the truth and take advantage of the events that would happen shortly thereafter, since, literally 18 days later, on February 9, E! News exclusively posted the first Burpmila pictures on vacation on a beach in Cabo, Mexico.

Louis promo has truly begun and he won't stop til we surrender! Just take deep breaths, buckle in, and enjoy. Today we got pap pictures, Louis at Heathrow arriving, we're told, home from Ibiza. He was wearing a neon green shirt from a company (four fifteen AM) that does psychedelic themed limited edition streetwear and has some ties to Three Six Zero (Louis' US management), looking smirky and cocky as hell, that is the beautiful face of a man who is absolutely about to kill our minds! He was papped with Eleanor but no Oli, is it really promo season with no Oli? I'm sure we'll see him soon. Maybe he's busy organizing everything for the VIDEO SHOOT Louis is having on Friday! Today the call went out for a contest to be part of a video shooting this Fri in London- 50 randomly selected winners and their guests will be invited to.... Well we don't know what. Watch filming? Be in it? Attend a livestream of the new song like last time? We'll know soon!

Liam, who was also in Ibiza just now, posted pics thanking everyone for the early birthday wishes (in advance of tomorrow), a cute kid pic and a very grown up selfie (though not sure about the goggles there, not my favorite glasses I've seen you in.) The caption "always had both hands on the wheel" is truly so Liam and self aware, I am the most here for Liam's introspection and journey of finding himself, honestly. Speaking of Madrid, lots of confusion about the news that the festival would be televised. To be clear: there will not be any official livestream. There has not been an official announcement of it being televised. But in past years, there has been broadcast of the acts about a week after the festival, so there's expectation of that. Probably not the entire sets from the sounds of it, but at least some HQ footage and as Louis is the headliner, probably a lot of him if not all. So in conclusion, fantastic news but we're still definitely gonna need you lucky attendees to livestream and record! Pleeeasse!!

born to a famous retired musician from london and a colorado native, ryder is the older twin of aylie ( by five minutes and he’ll never let her forget it ). they share an older brother, cole, making him the middle child.

middle child syndrome was very much so the case with ryder. between his siblings, he was always the troublemaker and it’s been this way since they were young. he could always be found up to no good ━ anything from hanging off the curtains to trying to ship himself off to egypt in a cardboard box. 

his dad got him into music to teach him how to focus and as a means to keep him busy. ryder took to it like fish to water, and showed some promising talent in writing and playing music. he wrote his first song when he was five and although it was pretty much just nonsense about cheerios, he somehow managed to recycle some of the lyrics into a proper song years later. 

as a kid, ryder was also put into different sports to channel all of his energy somewhere. football ( or soccer for the ‘muricans ) was the sport that he kept up with up until he finished school, and of course, snowboarding. he’s always been ridiculously competitive, especially with his siblings, and likes to tease aylie that he’s the superior snowboarder in the family. 

he had just been accepted to berklee college in the US when his mom got into a car accident and passed away. her death really shook his family to the core, yet ryder had played it off like he was completely unaffected by it, even cracking jokes at the funeral. 

that was just who ryder was. he never took anything seriously, even when he should, and life was just one big party. he always ran away at the first sign of a problem or responsibility, and that was exactly what he did after his mom’s funeral. he packed up what he could and left home that very night, only leaving his family a half-assed note on the back of the funeral program.

he spent the summer traveling on his own, working odd jobs and playing whatever gigs he could get. deferring his acceptance to berklee for a year, later turned into dropping out altogether when he decided to just focus on his music.

the whole music thing worked out for him after he put together a band while in amsterdam. they toured around different cities playing small gigs, and when he wasn’t touring, he was working with upcoming artists or traveling on his own. ryder was never in one place for long and his family never knew when he’d visit. 

it was only a couple years ago that he began visiting big bear again, mostly to visit his sister and to snowboard. though he also picked up the odd job of working at the rentals shack, where he spends most of his shift messing around on his guitar.

ryder’s always been the biggest little shit around. he could be pretty rowdy and immature sometimes, but it’s all in the name of fun. very much an act before you think type and has landed himself in some hot water because of it. with absolutely zero impulse control, he’s a bit of a fighter and a lover ( will fight you, but then buy you a beer after ), but he’s got a good heart and tries to be cool with everyone.

It was a given requirement that as a barmaid, she honed her intuition about the going-ons in her bar.

At the moment, Paula had a hunch. She suspected the unsuspecting teenager in the straw hat had information. Her intuition didn’t let on what kind, which wasn’t all too sad. She always found out either way.

“You’re too young to be lurking the likes of here, boy,” Paula said, pushing a glass of milk in front of him.

His entire aura sparkled. “Oh, thanks!” He downed it in one go. Those eyes and the scar. They were expectant and she understood. She refilled his glass.

“What does a sprout like you want with this crowd?” Paula gestured to the dark paneled walls and the low chatter of grumbling folk intent on a drink and a handful of stress-free hours.

The boy looked her straight in the eye as he gulped down his milk and got a milk moustache in the process. The appearance oddly reminded her of someone, someone bad news for her and her “organization” especially, but there’s no way that could be, right?

“Piracy,” the boy said.

“Hm,” she replied neutrally. Her thoughts immediately went to the entire territory, the bar included, which was stolen from under the previous capo’s nose. As far as she knew, the man was still living as an amnesiac at the edge of town. Her boss made sure of that.

“Yup! I thought I would see the stolen stuff here, but I guess it’s only here after hours, huh?” The boy sighed. “Hey, miss, do ya serve meat here?”

Paula blinked. “It’s not common, but yes,” she said.

“Oh, good! Give me a dozen servings of whatever you usually have. Ditch the vegetables, just gimme the meat,” the boy asked, squirming excitedly in his chair.

It’s later when she’s currently known as Miss Doublefinger that she remembered where he had seen the boy.

“That’s him. He’s the one who did a dine and dash two days ago,” Miss Doublefinger spoke, pointing to the camera feed. “Very lithe, very fast. If I wasn’t suspicious of him, I wouldn’t have realized he was gone.”

Mr. 1 slowly looked from her to the screen. “You’ve met the suspect who stole Mr. Zero’s cat?” he asked.

“Not exactly. I didn’t know it at the time, but I had a hunch he was important.” She was sorely regretting not connecting the dots. The scar and the hat were memorable traits. Maybe Miss Doublefinger should have asked for his number, at least a name.

The Boss’ right hand groaned and massaged his forehead. “Miss All-Sunday is a rare dying breed. Anyone looking for cash would consider kidnapping her and selling her online or in the black market,” he grumbled, staring at the screen as the boy in the black and white cam feed yelled and gesticulated at Miss All-Sunday the pedigree cat through the locked glass window of the bar.

“Ehem.”

“Yes, Miss Goldenweek?” Miss Doublefinger answered for Mr. 1.

“I think I found our guy,” Miss Goldenweek said, looking at her phone.

“Have you?” Mr. 1 glanced up.

“Yep.” She turned her phone screen to them. “Take a look.”

They watched on the Instagram feed of the boy, under the IG name of “mugiwaranoluff”, as he shouted at Miss All-Sunday in color with volume.

“I’m gonna getchu outta there! I promise you! I’ll do everything it takes to make sure you get out of there!” the boy yelled passionately.

“Luffy! It’s closed! It’s cold out, Vivi needs to get home!” the cameraman hissed as Miss All-Sunday worryingly put distance between her and the wildly gesturing young man.

“You don’t belong in there! I’m gonna make sure you get out of there, okay!?” Luffy continued screaming.

The post was captioned “chaotic good” with the simple tag “#kingofthecats”.

“Who is this boy?” Mr. 1 asked while the video looped again.

“A terror,” Miss Goldenweek whispered. “I’ve been scrolling through his feed. He does parkour as a side hobby and he owns about six cats. I think I’ve seen a few yakuza members in the background. Cops, too, maybe off the clock? Big shots. I think I saw—” She gulped. “Garp the Fist, Dragon the Revolutionary, and the White Hunter.”

“Don’t joke,” Miss Doublefinger scolded.

“I’m not!” Miss Goldenweek scrolled down and showed her the posts as proof.

It was only a split second but that was definitely Garp the Fist chasing down Luffy across rooftops and abandoned buildings in the run down part of town.

In the second video, there was a looming man in the background as Luffy pressed his face against one of their own members, Mr. 2/Bon Krei during what looked to be a party. It was blurry but that tattoo was unmistakable.

The third video appeared normally, as nothing interesting was happening, just talking. However, it was the people in it that had the three underground bounty hunters choking on their spit.

It had the White Hunter in casual clothes at a club, smoking two cigars with—was that Black Cage Hina drinking a Bloody Mary beside him?—Luffy pestering questions that the dog of the city precinct police force tossed aside with a fondly exasperated grumble.

“Seriously, who is this?” Mr. 1 asked again, this time with a note of rising incredulity.

“Hold on. Is that Fire Fist Ace?” Miss Doublefinger demanded.

They spent the rest of the night wondering in awe and horror at the exciting and hectic life of IG user “mugiwaranoluff”.

Some things can last forever

I'm not sure when or how my mom taught me that it should always be quality over quantity but it is something that has always been part of how I seal with a lot of purchases.

Recently, though, this has shifted somewhat. Now I choose things not just for its quality but also for its "reuse value".

Growing up, the idea for environmental conservation was "Reduce, Reuse, Recyle". Simple, short, catchy. It made a lot of sense. Then in college, something just clicked in my head and I realised the first step was actually not to accept anything that you don't really need.

REFUSE. Refuse refuse. (/rəˈfyo͞oz/ /ˈrefˌyo͞os/)

I started bringing my own reusable bags so I didn't have to accept plastic or paper ones at the grocery or department store.

I started bringing my own drinking bottle (and got P5 off my drinks at Starbucks and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf).

I looked at our groceries and chose items that had potential for a second life.

Here's one example:

A peanut butter jar. Or cup. Whatever it should be properly called, it is now my overnight oats container. It's not spill-proof but all I really need for it to be is be enough for my breakfast oats.

And because reusable is now the "in" thing, it became easier to lug around my own spoon and fork set. (My thanks to The Eco Filipino for this. Find her on IG!)

The best things and the worst things. Because we already know plastic waste does last almost forever, too.

So here's today's Tuesday thought: it doesn't take much to make that step towards being eco-friendlier. And I am certainly aware that my lifestyle is not absolutely zero waste. But making that conscious effort to do your best? That's one of the drops in the ocean that we need to effect and effectively change.

HELLO SPRING – I’ve been thinking of the perfect time to greet ya !

Emails are piled up to the thousands my room is no longer my favorite sanctuary. My ideas of being an entrepreneur, personal shopper, stylist, etc. are all mixed up. I feel like those closest to me aren’t supportive enough or want to see me fail. My hair is a mess and I need a new wig. I want to go shopping but my account won’t allow me to go. I’ve been feeling discouraged and scrolled through IG over and over looking for the right amount of inspo, only to get trapped by the “I don’t look like her, ooh she’s pretty and dope but not me, I hate my life syndrome because of social media. I don’t need a vacation I need a group of women who are waiting to exhale just like myself. I’m just a moody mess that contradicts herself and suggests musing through your moods but in reality fails to execute.

Guys I’ve been stressed. I haven’t blogged in a while. I am thinking to myself what even issa blog? Why do I want to blog? What is my purpose in this dear life of mine? While at work, working overnights can be dreadful I decided to take my routinely scroll on IG. Nothing captured me more than Spicy Mayo's post. Denim on denim ayyyeee conceptual looks. But what really drew me in was her caption Tuxedos + watermelons are all she needs this Spring. I then gasped like here we go someone else taking one of my non-executed ideas again. It happens often to me, I’ll think of a seriously dope concept but then fret and never deliver. I tell my boyfriend I’m psychic but he won’t believe my natural gift to think of something right before it happens in real life. Anyhow this whole thing about tuxedos is what I am trying to get at. I haven’t been to church in a while and Easter is this Sunday. Therefore, this is the perfect time to slay and do a post. Last year I did “How To Look Fly For Christ At The Right Price.” This year I wanted to captivate the moment in a fly pink tailored suit. Nonetheless Spicy Mayo’s post had nothing to do with a literal tuxedo. She was talking about the Canadian Tuxedo in which I had no idea there was such a thing. It’s basically the denim on denim look I guess….

Moreover, I began scrolling through Spicy Mayo’s blog and I was captivated. Her writing skills is by far editorial and intellectual. She delivers quality content in a clear, concise, straight forward point of view. You can hear her tone and it’s all conversational but well written. Her blog is easy to navigate and she has worked with reputable brands even though she started her blog right around the time I started mine. I love discovering gems in a non-planned kind of way. Yaminah is certainly a gem and I think I’ve fallen in love with blogging all over again. Thank You sis of the “interweb” my second time reading that word in one day was on her site.

Blogging started to become boring and rehearsed. The whole idea of delivering content that is professional and done in a straightforward manner had my mind all over the place. When I was on Spicy Mayo’s website I had an epiphany. It’s super cliché I know, but JUST BE YOURSELF is the key to blogging. I was struggling understanding how to fit the mold of a “style blogger.” In which I am tired of fitting molds and categories, when I try to be me I get zero recognition and I shake it off. Now here’s a fairly new blogger who has been able to work with top publications and her blog is short and sweet. I write too much and think no one is going to read these essays of mine. On top of my blogging woes I am at the stage where I have been working on several cover letters and reworking my resume for brands I want to work for. My goals this 2017 is to simply secure an internship and have sat least one mentor to guide me through days like this. I often say God is my mentor but to be honest I have faith like a mustard seed yes, but I need more than just faith. I need someone in my field of profession who has gone through days like these and has been in my faux Gucci slides.

With that being said I have been taking pictures on my iphone more because it is easier that way. I don’t need t post over a million pics per blog post. Just get to the point and get the message out.

Thanks to Spicy Mayo for being an inspirational blogger and influencer. It’s interesting because we have similar taste and interests just delivered differently. Like who doesn’t love OXOSI. If you don’t know them get with the program. I’m done ranting and prolonging this long overdue sigh. Now I am ready to declutter my site, delete junk mail perhaps unsubscribe, and send out apps for a new girl gang. Who’s in with me. Don’t all go sign up at once K, I’m used to being a loner.

MERRY SPRING CLEANING

p.s. they say misery loves company. I guess that’s been my mood for the past two weeks. To say the least I’ll just blame mother nature and my zodiac sign for making me this emotional being. It’s that time of the month and year where I get stuck in my feelings and question things like my life and existence. In the same token I get inspired to make new moves that no one is doing. I sit on these ideas thinking of ways to bring them to life and once gain hold back. When I see someone on ig or facebook deliver the same idea I never brought to life it’s like a striking pain. I honestly need a wakeup call. A change in environments, new friends, new food, new money, new lover. I’m serious sometimes I don’t mean to feel this way but it is how I feel at the moment. I’m drowning in my thoughts and feelings.
